With just 3 weeks to go until the start of the new Premier League season, it’s time to start assessing the prospects of teams competing in the upcoming Premier League campaign. This season, for the first time, the Transfer Window will slam shut for top-flight clubs before the opening match of the campaign kicks off when Manchester United host Leicester City, which again is a first as this game is on a Friday Night. You can view all previous analysis from John’s weekly column here – English Premier League Football Predictions For Saturday
Arsene Wenger’s long reign at Arsenal is over so it’s all new for the loyal Gooners. Some of the fans weren’t even born when Mr Wenger took charge so they have not experienced an Arsenal season without the Frenchman at the helm. The Gunners top brass have brought in ex-Seville and Paris Saint Germain boss Unai Emery. The Spaniard has won the Europa League 3 times with Seville so will aim to get Arsenal far in that competition and hopefully break back into the elite Top 4. The Gunners have a difficult start to the campaign with current Premier League Champions Man City visiting the Emirates on the opening weekend. Unai hasn’t wasted anytime in recruiting a squad, bringing in the likes of Goalkeeper Bernd Leno, Right Back Stephan Lichtsteiner, Centre Back Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Defensive Midfielder Lucas Torreira and Midfielder Matteo Guendouzi.
Jack Wilshire has finally called time on his Arsenal career and left for a new start with West Ham. Surely this is what Jack needed to re-ignite his career. With the players already at the Emirates notably Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette, Arsenal should look to regain a Top 4 spot. The Gunners fans should also be excited about the next ‘Cesc Fabregas’, Barcelona player Joel Lopez has turned down a contract at the Nou Camp and could be on his way to the Emirates. Arsenal are 20/1 with Bet 365 to win the Premier League title and just 9/1 to win Unai’s favourite trophy, Pierre is 7/1 to finish as the Premier League’s top scorer.
Predicted Finish – 4th – BACK NOW WITH COMEON with £10 Free Bet For New Accounts!
The Cherries have been pretty quiet in this Transfer Window, upto now only bringing in Midfielder David Brooks from Sheffield United. However, the Welsh International may just prove to be one of the signings of the seasons. David has just turned 21 and has been a major influence at Brammal Lane helping Sheffield United into the Championship. Having been born in England and playing Youth Football for England, David has now chosen Wales as his international club. Let’s hope The Three Lions don’t regret that decision. With Benik Afobe
moving to Wolves where he spent the Championship winning season, Eddie Howe has a gap to fill upfront. They finished 12th in the table last term on the same 44 points as 11th placed Crystal Palace and 10th placed Newcastle. The Cherries start with an easy opener at home to newly promoted Cardiff. Bournemouth are 1000/1 with Bet 365 to win the Premier League (Remember Leicester). The Cherries faithful should look at the 5/2 Bet 365 are currently offering to finish in the Top half. A couple of goals more last term and that’s where they would have finished.
Predicted Finish – 15th – BACK NOW WITH COMEON!
The Seagulls, under the guidance of Chris Hughton, performed magically in their debut Season in the Premier League getting the all important 40 points which historically has been the figure to stay in the league. Last May, they achieved 3 of those 40 points gaining a superb victory over Manchester United. Brighton have been fairly active in the Transfer market adding 5 new players to their squad, which was needed after 22 players had left the club since the end of last season. Defender Leon Balogun, Striker Florin Andone, Midfielder Bernardo and Goalkeepers Jason Steele and David Button. The Seagulls kick-off their season away at Watford. With Bet 365, like Bournemouth, Brighton are 1000/1 (Remember Leicester) to win the Premier League. A more likely bet the Brighton faithful should look at is winning either the Fa Cup or League Cup with Bet 365 offering 66/1 for either trophy to be taken back to the Amex.
Predicted Finish – 17th
Burnley not only have the Premier League to contend with this term, but due to their fantastic 7th place finish, they also have the Europa League to play in. So Thursday and Sunday football for the Claret and Blue faithful. Sean Dyche has been pretty quiet in the Transfer market upto now. He has had a combined bid of £25 million rejected by West Brom for defender Craig Dawson and forward Jay Rodriguez. No doubt, a further increased offer will be tabled before the end of the Window. With Scott Arfield leaving to join Steven Gerrard at Glasgow Rangers and Dean Marney and Jonathan Walters set to leave, Mr Dyche will need some players in to cope with the demands of all competitions. Burnley travel the long distance to Southampton to start their season and Bet 365 have them at 750/1 to win the Premier League (Remember Leicester). Bet 365 have Burnley at 4/1 to finish in the Top half of the Premier League and 25/1 to go one better then last season and finish 6th or better. The Burnley faithful should look at the 4/1 Bet 365 are offering.
Predicted Finish – 9th
Under the guidance of SuperMan Neil Warnock, Cardiff are back in the Premier League. Neil took over the Welsh club when they were 2nd bottom of the Championship and after steadying the ship in his first season he got the Bluebird’s into the promised land. Mr Warnock should really be talked about in the same breath as legendary managers such as Bill Shankly, Bob Paisley, Brian Clough, Arsene Wenger and Sir Alex Ferguson. His 8th promotion sets him apart from the rest and his guile and wit will be a match for Pep, Jose and the rest, Neil didn’t have the best of playing careers, the highlight being a spell at Barnsley F.C. in the early 1970s. Notably having Mick McCarthy has his Boot boy. Cardiff have signed 4 players during this Transfer window, spending more than £27m, but Mr Warnock says he still wants to add some players before the new campaign starts. Striker Bobby Reid from Bristol City, Left Back Greg Cunningham from Preston, Winger Josh Murphy from Norwich and Goalkeeper Alex Smithies from Queens Park Rangers have all come in and Marko Grujic is a loan target from Liverpool after spending some time at the Cardiff City Stadium in their promotion winning season. They kick off their Premier League return with an away trip to Bournemouth. Bet 365 are offering 2000/1 for the Bluebirds to win the Premier League (Remember Leicester) and 9/1 for them to finish the highest of the newly promoted clubs. That said Super Neil will have to work miracles to keep the South Wales club in the Premier League.
Predicted Finish – 20th
