888sport Sign Up Bonus Offer Explained (What You Will Learn...)

We always advise to have multiple betting accounts, so that you can avail of betting opportunities that may exist on one site but not on the other. However, some people like to open betting accounts to get the new account offer. If they like the site when playing with the sign up bonus or free bet, they will then add it to their favourite bookie list!

In this article, we decided to take a new angle at explaining the 888sport new customer offer by asking our regular columnist, Seymour Biz, to take this betting site for a test drive! We gave him a small betting bank and asked him to bet the minimum bet size for the course of one week to really get a good understanding of 888sport website and to report back with his experience, in the form of a betting diary.

He was frustrated at first, but after getting used to the site, he was able to see light at the end of the tunnel.

Seymour Biz 888sport Betting Diary & New Account Review

Monday – Opening my new account on 888sport.com

Today, Monday, l have opened an account with 888.com. Opening it up was relatively easy, they wanted the normal information such as name, address, phone number, and to provide a username and password.

I deposited £10 via a debit card and it was here I ran into the first problem. On putting in the promo code to receive £30 in free bets I had a note on the screen to say I was not eligible. Why not?

On checking my inbox, I had had an email to say I was eligible for the £30 bonus, very confusing. But the major let-down was it stated the conditions were I had to place a £10 bet. Could this mean in several bets or one single bet? I am not sure.

So I have emailed 888 via their contact button on the site. I shall wait to hear what they have to say. Meanwhile I have spent an hour touring the site. I find it disappointing the opening screen is all football when I want the racing, I have to use the side screen to find the racing, then log on to meetings to find today’s runners.

All the meetings are clearly listed along with the race times. I found this really easy to follow but only jockeys were listed along with the runners not the trainers. But what I particularly liked was when clicking on the Timeform button for each race I got a wealth of information. This was excellent, it showed the last four races and a Timeform run-down on each horse.

So I put on my first bets to see how the site works, not to try and get rich. First bet was 50p win on Dylan De Vega in 1.55 at Beverly who duly obliged at 11/8. Then I tried to put on an each way bet, very easy, it was 50p ew on Blackheath in 2.35 at Windsor who ran second at 4/1. So far so good. Then a big outsider in the 5.0 at Warwick, Royal Jonquille, nowhere. Such is life.

So now I thought I would try something a little more exciting, a patent. I looked up Templegate of The Sun’s tips on EveryTip and picked out his treble which was 3.25 Bath Boutonnières, 3.05 Beverly One One Seven and 5.30 Windsor Arishka. The latter was second, the rest nowhere. But what was interesting was when I selected the horses on 888’s site it gave me a choice of bets, a treble, a patent, or a trixie making the placing of the bet really easy. What wasn’t easy was Templegate’s choice of horses, my 30p Patent, £2-10, was down the Swanee. Tomorrow is another day.

By the end of the day I have had no reply to my e-mail about the £30 bonus. I will see what tomorrow brings, but the more I have read about it the less hopeful I am. It’s just a headline to bring in punters. It just shows to me they are not trying to bring in penny players like me but larger gamblers. My score for the day was down £2-01. Current bank £7.99

Tuesday – 888sport Customer Experience

A quiet day today, I have heard nothing in reply to my e-mail to 888 about my bonus. I won’t hold my breath. I fancied a little forecast today in the 6.50 at Exeter. Blue ‘N Yellow and I was was between Cujo and Eddy, needless to say I picked the winner but Eddy pulled up and Cujo was second. Forecast paid £58, I should have done the combination, never mind it was about seeing how easy the bet was to put on with 888. So another 50p down the drain.

My other bet today was 3x 50p doubles and a £1 treble on Templegate’s treble. Unfortunately the first runner got beat as 2/1 favourite by 3/4 of a length, but the other two actually won paying £1.84 for my 50p double giving me a loss of 66p on the bet making a loss of £1.16 on the day. So near yet so far, I should be sitting on a nice little pot for the Chester meeting instead of just under seven quid! Daily score Down £1.16 Current bank £6.86

Wednesday – 888sport free bets arrived just in time for Chester betting

Looking forward to Chester, but it looks like the Cheshire Set who frequent the meeting are going to get rather wet today, shame! I have started with Pricewise’s tips on a 50p Patent, 7 bets, on Show Me Show Me, Angel Alexander and King Ottoker, but I’m still trying to get this 50% bonus added to the bet they don’t make it easy. It’s still got me beat but I’m sure it’s in there somewhere, very frustrating.

Marvelous! The £30 of free bets has dropped into my inbox so have had £5 e-w on Damon Runyon after that pants patent. Damon Runyon down the pan, this is terrible.I’ll save the rest for tomorrow. So not for the first time I come away from Chester empty handed on the first day, tomorrow is another day. Daily score. Down £13.60. Current bank £3.33 and £20 bonus

Thursday – 3 seconds and 1 winner today on 888sport

Well I have a bigger pot to play with today, but I am finding the site quite frustrating to deal with. It drops out, it is slow to load and when moving from area to area there are three separate buttons and I can never remember which is which. Also when I leave the site to write this blog I have to sign back in again. So with my free bet today I have a 90p Yankee cost £9.90.

Today the horses are my own choices so I’ve no one else to blame, Copper Knight, Circus Maximus, Spirit Warning and Kew Gardens. I am hoping for the best. Oh dear three seconds and a winner. I’ve had enough for today. Cup day tomorrow, I’ll save the rest for that. Daily score Down £9.90 Current bank £3.33 and £10 bonus

Friday – Getting used to the site design, now easier to navigate

Well, I am getting used to this site now an find it easier to put the bet on and navigate it. Today is the last day of my free £10 bets and again I will use it at Chester in a 71p e-w Patent. The picks today are Ptarmigan Ridge, Dukhan and Austrian School. Let’s see how I get on with those, it’s been disastrous up to now but it has helped me get used to the 888 site and find what I like and don’t like. Didn’t even have a horse placed, it seems to prove to me the old saying-You don’t get owt for nowt. Well that was a bloodbath in the mud-bath, they should never have raced after the heavens opened, it was just a lottery for punters after that. It must have been like pulling a plough for those horses in the last four races.

Saturday & my final thoughts on using 888sport for sports betting

I have enough left in the kitty for one more bet today but before I let that I will state what I understand about the site. As I mentioned earlier in this blog the site has three “buttons”, the furthest left, three bars, when clicked on says BET and just lists Sports, Betting, Horses, Offers and Casino. Just below that button is an A-Z button that more or less duplicates the other one except it lists every sport you can bet on plus a My Bets and Offers listing. At the top right is a “little man” figure that then lists Bonuses and Betting History. Perhaps I should have explained all this earlier but maybe I didn’t understand it myself.

I think my not understanding the site contributed to me picking all those losers! Anyway there is Betting, My Bets and Betting History under all three buttons, no wonder I got easily confused. Added to that it took 48 hours for the bonus to drop in, it may have said that in the small print but I didn’t see it. There were also some Special Offers that I wasn’t impressed with. One was your stake back if one selection let’s you down in an Acca. Turns out you have to have a minimum of six selections and get five up , can’t say I think much of that.

That said 888 covers a multitude of sports, they had a Best Odds Guaranteed on every race I had a bet on and I had a very enjoyable week playing with their bonus money at Chester. (Which means I didn’t lose my own) And so to today’s bets, I have played the last of my cash from my original £10 today with a 22p Lucky Fifteen on Setting Sail, Daddies Girl, Cardsharp at Ascot and Mister Fisher at Haydock. Checked the results and that quadruple proved useless so I am left with just 3p. I can’t say the experience was enjoyable but it was certainly educational!
