Please make sure that you have your proof of identity and proof of address ready to avoid any hassles. This is referred to as the KYC process. This means "Know your customer" and is part of the legal requirement for bookmakers to be granted an UK Gambling commission licence. While it may feel like a right pain to do so, it is to help make gambling online safer and to curb fraudulent activity.

You will be required to upload a digital photo of your passport or driving licence, and then a proof of address like a utility bill or a bank statement. Do not worry, they only want to see your home address to confirm it is really you, so you can black out any confidential information on other parts of the letter. You can either scan these documents or else take a photo of them with your smartphone.

There are numerous ways to contact Bet365 such as Live Chat, E-Mail, Web Message, Phone and Post. I tried their Live Chat and was in contact with a customer services representative called Pete almost immediately. I asked could I use my bet365 account on a visit to the USA. He replied at once, correctly, that it was not possible to use my account there.

5. Odds

Value On Offer

What are the odds like at Bet365?

5.0
  •  Matched market leaders
  •  Great prices in most games including horse racing
  •  Overall best odds you can get

As regards to the odds being offered, I checked a small midweek meeting at Chepstow on Oddschecker, and Bet365 figured prominently as offering top prices, especially the higher-priced horses.
So I moved across to the soccer prices and bet365 had moved with the markets and was offering 6/4 on Liverpool to win the Premier League. There was 13/8 available on some sites, but 6/4 is the average.
Looking lower down the league, for instance, Bet365 offer 66/1 on Arsenal whereas Hills only offer 40/1. So all in all, I find the odds on offer by Bet365 up at the top of the spectrum.

6. In-Play Offering

Bet on Live Events

Do they offer in-play betting?

5.0
  •  Comprehensive in-play market offering
  •  Up-to-the minute odds
  •  Live section for the playing games

Full T&C's apply, 18+

Bet365 comprehensively cover all markets with in-play betting. I checked the Sunday football matches and they were well up to speed offering prices as the game changed but it is difficult to compare prices across different companies as you toggle between the sites, but Bet365's prices do seem on a par with other firms.

7. Regular Promotions

Loyalty & VIP programs

Are there offers available for existing customers?

4.0
  •  Regular promotions on various races
  •  Best Price Offer and Best Odds Guarantee
  •  Early payout for soccer matches
  •  Promotions advertised more than once-no special offer

Full T&C's apply, 18+

Bet365 seemed to have a multitude of promotions until I noticed that most are advertised twice and they are mostly similar to those advertised by other firms. There is no stand-out offer.

Their offers for horses are the Best Price Offer after 10.00 am for televised races and the Best Odds Guarantee against SP, which most companies offer.

For soccer, Bet365 offers an early payout if your team goes two goals up and an accumulator bonus. That bonus is for a minimum of 3 selections and is for between 5 to 70%, depending on the number of selections in the bet.

8. Deposit & Withdrawals

Banking Options

Is There Fast Withdrawals?

5.0
  •  Debit cards, bank transfer, cheque and e-wallets accepted
  •  24hrs and up to 5 days withdrawal waiting time
  •  Minimum withdrawal of £5

Full T&C's apply, 18+

Bet365 states that you can deposit funds using Debit Cards, e-wallet, Bank Transfer or Cheque. Withdrawals have a minimum of £5 and are all free.

You can use Debit Card (1-5 days), Bank Transfer (1-5 days), PayPal (24hours), or Cheque (up to 28 days). It is good to see that they pay out as little as £5 as most sites have a £10 minimum.

Editors note: On my personal bet365 account, I receive withdrawals within 4 hours.

9. Mobile Friendly

Navigation on Smartphone

Is it easy to navigate on your mobile phone?

5.0
  •  Mobile friendly
  •  Easy to toggle between various markets
  •  Bets placed on tablet and mobile during this review
  •  Full form guide for all horses and a spotlight analysis

Full T&C's apply, 18+

Bet365's website is totally mobile friendly. Everything I did, including my bets were done on my tablet and phone.

The layout of the site is very user friendly and it is easy to toggle between sports. There is a full form guide for every horse along with a Spotlight analysis, which is an excellent service.

The Tote betting is at the top of each racecard. All you need is to click on this to access all the Tote bets, including Swinger, Exacta and Trifecta bets. Most betting companies don't offer this facility.

There is also a Special Bets button that offers a horse Not to Win, To Be Placed, Not To Be Placed or Betting Without The Favourite. I have not seen this on any other site. All these bets were readily available on my tablet.

10. Live Streams

Watch Online

Does Bet365 offer live streaming?

4.0
  • Livestreaming option available
  • Horse racing, greyhounds and soccer featured
  • Some matches require a prior bet to live stream

Full T&C's apply, 18+

From what I can see, all horse racing events are offered on free live stream by bet365 if your account is in credit. It says, "to watch this race, you must have a funded account or have placed a bet in the last 24 hrs.”

With greyhound racing, it states “you must have a bet of minimum 50p to watch this race”. It seems somewhat strange that you can only watch certain sports if you have had a bet on them.

Editor's note: Unfortunately, this is now the norm at all bookmakers. The rights holders of live sports streams in UK hold the bookmakers to ransom to use these streams and therefore have no option but to pass these costs to their customers.

Seymour's review diary for bet365

Betting Diary - Our Real Bet365 User Experience Report

Event - Horse Racing at AYR, Bangor-on-Dee and Exeter

I have not used my bet365 account for some time, but I had no trouble logging in and loading it up with £30, so I was all ready to go. I picked up my Sporting Life Weekender and looked through it to pick up some tips at Ayr, Bangor-on-Dee and Exeter and chose three horses for a Patent.

The site is incredibly user friendly. I selected the horses, then clicked on multiples and all the available bets popped up such as trixie, patent, doubles and trebles and whether I wanted to back my horses each-way, all very simple.

My selections were Those Tiger Feet, Sporting John and Legends Ryde and I backed them in a 50p Patent. I was pleased to start with a winner but the other two got beat so a return of £1.63 for my £3.50, which was paid out immediately.

Next, I tried a 50p win and placed a bet on the Tote, dead easy to put the bet on which is a big plus for the site as some bookies won’t take Tote bets. Unfortunately, the selection According to Alex ran down the field. I saw three of my old favourites running and my heart ruled my head as I backed Coo Star Sivola, Tedham and Tea Time On Mars in a 20p e/w Patent.

Again, no problem placing the bet, but the selections were all beat. However, Coo Star Sivola ran very well after a long time off the tracks. This was definitely one for the notebook. Bet365 has a notebook section where you can put in your selections and they will then flag up to you when they are running, which is a good idea. I ended up with a loss of £5.67 on the day, not a very auspicious start.

On to Thursday and I decided to use the tips from the Weekender, big mistake as there were five tips.

I chose three and all lost, so a 50p Patent down the pan along with a £1 Tote bet on Lygon Rock. So £4,50 down on the day and my pot was down to just under £20 going into Friday. I’m not a happy bunny. Incidentally, one of the Weekender selections (which I did not pick) won but was just even money, so I wouldn’t have got rich.

The races I hate most during the NH season are the Cross Country Chases, so the only bets I had on Friday were 2 x 50p e/w singles and a 50p e/w double on Fanion d’Estruval and The Grand Visir. Just one placed which returned £1, making a loss of £2 on the day.

So on to Saturday and the much-vaunted Paddy Power Gold Cup, the going has changed and is now decidedly softer at Cheltenham. This will prove to put paid to a lot of fancied horses chances, it certainly put paid to mine!

I backed the Seymour Biz tips in a Patent, just three runners as Dell Arca was pulled out. One placed so £3.50 down. I had a 40p Patent on the Pricewise tips, he had one winner with On The Blind Side, which returned £3.20, giving me a 40p profit and Bet365 paid me straight after the race.

I decided to review the forecast bets on the site and found it very simple to use. I picked four horses for the Gold Cup in a combination bet of 12 forecast singles. Sad to say, none were in the first two. I had a 20p e/w Patent on Henry Dalys’s three entrants at Uttoxeter, but unfortunately, none were placed.

Now I was getting desperate and had a 20p Lucky Fifteen on the last four favourites at Cheltenham, all were defeated. That was me for the day with £7 left in the locker for Sunday.

I picked four horses taking care not to choose any of the several non-runners and placed a 20p Lucky Fifteen more in hope than certainty, even though they were fancied the bet was down.

Over the three days at Cheltenham, nineteen races produced only three winning favourites, so I’m sure I’m not the only punter to add to the Coates family fortunes after my bruising betting encounter.

Seyzmour Biz Final Verdict

Overall Rating

Does our reviewer recommend this betting site?

4.8
  •  Simple to use on mobile or tablet
  •  Very competitive odds on horse racing & football
  •  Live horse racing streams with a funded account
  •  The best welcome bonus for new customers
  •  Highest rated bookie review by Seymour Biz

When doing this Bet365 review, I believe it is not the site's fault that I couldn’t find any winners, the site is very user friendly. I tried to pick a selection of different bets such as multiples, each-way, singles and forecasts and found the site simple to negotiate and use. Bet365's odds seem very competitive both on football and racing, where I did have small wins, I was paid straightaway.

They have Best Odds Guaranteed and fixed price or SP the day before racing. Bet365 covers a multitude of sports and I would have no problem recommending them to a friend who wanted to start online betting.
