Following a break in the action that has been far too long for most Premier League fans, we can now look ahead to Game-Week 32 and what should be the most-exciting battle for the title we have seen in years. Liverpool didn’t find it easy at Craven Cottage, but recovered from a rare defensive lapse to nick the game thanks to a James Milner penalty. FULHAM v MAN CITY
Early Saturday afternoon kick-off live on Sky Sports.
Fulham are struggling at the bottom of the Premier League table and will be playing football in the Championship next season. Temporary boss Scott Parker has to try and revitalise his Cottages and a home game against Pep’s High Flying City is not probably what Scott needs after Fulham have lost their last 7 Premier League games conceding 17 goals, only scoring 4 themselves in those 7 defeats. The latest defeat prior to the International Break was a 2-1 defeat against Liverpool. Ryan Babel did equalise for Fulham but Liverpool’s pressure prevailed and Fulham conceded a late penalty which was converted ultimately giving them another defeat. Fulham are 13-points from safety with only 7-games left so in effect their relegation could be confirmed in the next 2 games if results go against them. It’s rumoured Scott will be given the job full time but is that the best decision for the Cottages hierarchy considering Scott’s lack of experience and the extremely difficult challenge the Championship can be. Maybe an experienced manager used to getting a team out of the Championship, maybe someone like Slavisa Jokanovic.
Man City are 2-points behind Liverpool in the race for back-to-back Premier League titles. Due to City’s exploits in the FA Cup, they do have a game in hand over the Reds and a win against Fulham in this weekend’s opener will temporarily put Pep’s boys back at the top of the table for at least 24-hours until Liverpool take on Tottenham on Sunday. It will be 3-weeks since City played a Premier League game when they comfortably beat Watford at the Etihad 3-1. England Superstar Raheem Sterling, who bagged himself a hat-trick against the Czech Republic, was obviously in a goal-scoring mood following on from his hat-trick against the Hornets in the 3-1 victory. Raheem has come in for a lot of criticism over the years and if a straw poll was conducted at the minute most would still criticise Raheem. However, a few questions could be asked by everyone such as, “is Raheem one of England’s best players ?” “Would you want him in your team?” and “How old is Mr Sterling?” The answers are “Yes” “Yes” and “24”. Twenty Four, repeat that 24, Raheem hasn’t even started yet. The English nation should be embracing this young man who could eventually rival Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. Keep going Raheem, Top Man. A young man full of morals who certainly believes in himself and is playing for the best manager of this generation. Watch out Fulham.
This reverse fixture back in the middle of September at the Etihad finished with an easy victory to Pep’s High Flying City. Leroy Sane, the David of the Silva’s and Raheem Sterling gave City the 3-0 win over Slavisa Jokanovic’s Cottages.
Bet 365 offer Fulham at a massive 16/1, the Draw at 13/2 and Odds On 1/7 for to Man City come away with all 3 points.
Bet 365 offer 25/1 that Raheem Sterling Scores another Hat-Trick and Evens 1/1 that Man City Win to Nil.
Away Win 0-3
BURNLEY v WOLVES
Burnley have been dragged into the relegation battle after losing their last 4 Premier League games the latest being a 2-1 defeat against Leicester. Burnley’s highly rated youngster Dwight McNeil scored the Clarets goal just before half-time but Sean Dyche’s boys conceded a very late goal which cost them the game. What would have been hard to take for Sean was Leicester were reduced to 10-men after only 4-minutes but Burnley couldn’t break down the Foxes and couldn’t even hold on for a point? Burnley are only 2-points above 3rd from bottom Cardiff and have played a game more than the Bluebirds so really do need to get a result against Wolves. Sean won’t admit it but doing so well last season and getting into the Europa League has destroyed the Clarets for this season, which should be a warning for the teams this year trying to get into the Europa League places, Wolves being one of them.
Wolves were one of the teams who played in the FA Cup a couple of weeks back and progressed to the Semi-finals after getting a great victory over Manchester United who looked like they had temporarily brought Dracula Mourinho back. Nuno’s men are lying in 7th-place in the Premier League which is a tremendous achievement for a newly promoted team as well as the added bonus of getting to the Semi-Finals of the FA Cup. Wolves last Premier League game finished in a great 1-1 draw away at Stamford Bridge. Raul Jimenez scored the Gold and Blacks goal against Chelsea and were holding on for the win until conceding a very late equaliser in the 92nd-minute. The Wolves faithful have another away day and will need their big coats as Turf Moor is a very cold ground even in the middle of summer.
At Molineux, in mid-September, a Raul Jimenez goal separated the two sides giving Nuno’s men all 3-points.
Bet 365 offer Burnley at 23/10, the Draw at 11-5 and 5/4 for Wolves to come away with all 3 points.
Bet 365 offer 6-1 that Chris Wood Scores First and 17/10 that Raul Jimenez Scores Anytime.
CRYSTAL PALACE v HUDDERSFIELD
Crystal Palace were one of the teams competing in the FA Cup so missed Game Week 31 of the Premier League. Unfortunately for the Eagles, they were knocked out of that competition and now really have to concentrate on the relegation scrap. Roy Hodgson is now the oldest manager in the Premier League and still has the energy to compete with the new young generation of managers. He will need all his experience to keep Palace away from the relegation fight as they are only 5-points above the drop zone. However, if any team needs a game to get them a virtually guaranteed 3-points, Palace are that team with the visit of bottom of the table Huddersfield. The Eagles last outing in the Premier League ended in defeat against fellow relegation rivals Brighton. Luka Milivojevic got his obligatory penalty in the 2-1 loss against the Seagulls. Luka knows how to take a penalty and rarely misses. That said Luka missed one against Everton back in October but on the whole usually despatches.
Huddersfield look doomed lying at the foot of the table on 14-points and in reality, could have their relegation confirmed in the next couple of weeks. With just 7-games remaining, the maximum points Huddersfield can accrue are 35. That’s unlikely to happen so a defeat against Palace married with other results going against them will eventually seal the Terriers fate sooner rather than later. Huddersfield’s last outing prior to the International Break was probably one of the Terriers faithful’s best and worst journeys. They travelled down to the London Stadium to take on West Ham and found themselves 3-1 ahead with goals from Juninho Bacuna and a double from a young English talent called Karlan Ahearne-Grant. Unfortunately, the lead didn’t last and the Terriers faithful, who were still getting over the shock of paying a fiver for a pint, saw their team capitulate and concede 3 late goals in the space of 15-minutes making their journey back up to West Yorkshire an arduous one. Jan Siewart has introduced a few youngsters to try and bed them in for the new season in the Championship and the possible visit to Oakwell. All the roads that lead to struggles
bring them back to where they need. Some reassurance in their own depth, only they can see, but let others feel. Peace in their mind is so happy to find as Jan gets back on the trek with a head start back to the truth.
This reverse fixture back at the John Smiths in September finished 1-0 in favour of the Eagles with Wilfried Zaha getting the solitary goal.
Bet 365 offer Crystal Palace at slight Odds On 1/2, the Draw at 11/4 and 13/2 for Huddersfield to come away with all 3 points.
Bet 365 offer 3/1 that there are Over 3.5 Goals and 11/4 that Crystal Palace Win Both Halves.
Home Win 2-0
BRIGHTON v SOUTHAMPTON
A South Coast Derby sees the Saints travel East along the coast to the Amex. Brighton beat Crystal Palace last time out 2-1 with Glenn Murray and Anthony Knockaert getting the Seagulls goals. Brighton are one of the teams who haven’t played a Premier League game for 3-weeks due to the FA Cup and the International Break. The Seagulls progressed to the Semi-finals of the FA Cup and will now take on Pep’s High Flying City at Wembley in a couple of weeks. So it’s back to the day job for Chris Hughton who have to just keep an eye on the relegation battle. They lie just above the relegation places but do have a couple of games in hand so should be good for another season in the Premier League but Chris will want to put distance between themselves and Southampton who are just 3-points behind Brighton. Chris Hughton’s FA Cup exploits will bring back great memories of his days as a Left Back for Tottenham Hotspur in the late ‘70s and early ’80s. In the 1981 Final, Chris faced Man City at Wembley and back in the day the FA Cup went to a replay if the game ended in a draw. Tottenham drew with City 1-1 with the unfortunate Tommy Hutchinson scoring both goals. A goal for his City side then an own goal to give Tottenham the Draw. The replay was played the following Thursday night, again at Wembley and produced one of the best and most iconic FA Cup Final goals of all time. Argentinian midfielder Ricardo Villa picked the ball up 30-yards from goal and went on a terrific mazy run past the City defenders and then coolly slotted home. Many young kids of the day who loved football all went to school the next day and tried it in the playground and a certain fellow Argentinian who wasn’t even born at the time, but will have been shown the goal by his dad many times now scores many the same at the Nou Camp. Brighton are on their way to Wembley, Chris is going to do it again.
Southampton are hovering just above the relegation places on 30-points, 2-points above Cardiff who are 3rd from bottom and 3-points behind Brighton so a win here for either team will go along way in gaining survival for next season. Although the Saints weren’t in the FA Cup, they have not played for 3-weeks too so should be fresh and reinvigorated for this game. They arguably got their best result of the season last time out coming from behind to beat Tottenham 2-1 in front of the Saints faithful. After trailing 1-0 at the break, Yann Valery who’s favourite singer has to be Amy Winehouse and James Ward-Prowse got the Saints goals in the 2nd-half to give Southampton a great win and the much-needed 3-points. James is an excellent young English talent who has deservedly earned an England call-up from Gareth Southgate. At 24, time is on James side and will only get better, especially training with the England boys. Southampton need to stay in the Premier League for obvious reasons none other than keeping hold of their best young talents such as Yann and James and Nathan Redmond. There will be a lot of takers should Wreck-It Ralph take the Saints down and James wouldn’t look out of place in a Manchester United shirt.
At St Mary’s back in mid- September the points were shared in a 2-2 draw. The Saints did take a 2-0 lead with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and a Danny Ings penalty giving the Southampton faithful hope of the win. Shane Duffy and a late Glenn Murray penalty gave Brighton a share of the points.
Bet 365 offer this pretty even with Brighton at 3/2, the Draw at 21/10 and 2/1 for Southampton to come away with all 3 points.
Bet 365 offer 4/1 that Glenn Murray Scores First and 11/2 for a 1-1 Scoreline.
MANCHESTER UNITED v WATFORD
Manchester United have suffered back-to-back defeats after the great start under the interim management team. Ole out! Seriously it was inevitable that United would lose eventually and in a way it will be good to see how Ole reacts to the setbacks against Arsenal and Wolves. The defeat against Arsenal wasn’t so much a shock and the loss against Wolves in the FA Cup can happen in any one-off Cup game. Probably the shock in the Wolves defeat was the way United played. It was like the last few months had all been a dream and Dracula Mourinho was still in charge and still in the dugout. United just didn’t perform and Paul Pogba and a few others just played like they had many times under Jose. The rest should have done Ole good but many of his players are away with their international teams and Ole will be hoping most will come back fit and injury free. Marcus Rashford had to pull out of the first England game and Romelu Lukaku picked up a slight knock whilst away with Belgium. United lie 2-points behind Arsenal in the race for a Top 4 place and with Arsenal not playing until Monday Night a win against the Hornets will put them above the Gunners for the time being.
Watford played and won in the Quarter-finals of the FA Cup and now face United’s conquerors in the Semi-final at Wembley. One of the strangest points of Watford’s season so far is they were drawn away against Tottenham in the Carabao Cup earlier on in the season and as Tottenham are playing their games at Wembley it would be assumed that the game would be played there and the Hornets could enjoy another day out at the home of football. Not so, bizarrely the powers that be decided to play the game at Milton Keynes home stadium. So Watford were denied the chance to play at Wembley. Watford are pretty safe in the Premier League and may now put all their eggs in the FA Cup basket. Watford were beaten 3-1 by Man City in their last Premier League outing with Gerard Deulofeu coming on as substitute and scoring immediately. Unfortunately, it was only a consolation and Watford head back to Manchester for back-to-back Premier League games in the City.
This reverse fixture back in mid-September at Vicarage Rd finished 2-1 in favour of United in a rare win for Jose Mourinho before his departure from Manchester. Romelu Lukaku and Chris Smalling put the Pink Devils in front in the 1st-half. Andre Gray did pull a goal back for the Hornets midway through the 2nd-half but time ran out and United came away with all 3-points.
Bet 365 offer Manchester United at Odds On 2/5, the Draw at 10/3 and 15/2 for Watford to come away with all 3 points.
Bet 365 offer 11/10 that United Score in Both Halves and 9/1 Paul Pogba Scores First.
Home Win 4-2
LEICESTER v BOURNEMOUTH
Leicester beat Burnley 2-1 last time out prior to the International Break. Brendan Rodgers has had a couple of weeks to get his new team used to his ways and the Foxes should show some improvement in the way they play over the remaining games. They were not a bad team under Claud Puel but just lacked something that Brendan is hopefully going to inject. Against Burnley, Harry Maguire was sent off in only the 4th-minute, before James Maddison put Leicester in front in the 33rd-minute. Burnley equalised just before the break and a draw would have been acceptable considering big Harry’s departure, however, Harry’s Centre Half partner Wes Morgan came up with a last-minute winner to send the Foxes faithful home ecstatic. Rod Stewart is still crying because Brendan left Celtic.
Bournemouth played in a very entertaining 2-2 draw against Newcastle last time out with Josh King getting both the Cherries goals, the 1st coming by way of a penalty. With time running out and Bournemouth leading 2-1, ex-Cherries player Matt Ritchie came back to haunt his old employers scoring a very late equaliser for the Magpies. Eddie Howe’s men are on 38-points, 3-points behind Brendan’s Foxes and should be safe but a win for both sides will go along way in gaining survival in the Premier League.
At the Vitality back in September Bournemouth ran out 4-2 winners in a very entertaining game for the fans. The strange thing about the match was the Cherries took a 4-0 lead in the game. Ryan Fraser scored twice and a Josh King penalty gave Bournemouth a 3-goal lead at the break. Adam Smith made it 4-0 with 10-minutes to go then the Foxes tried to stage an unlikely comeback. A James Maddison penalty and a Marc Albrighton strike briefly gave the Foxes faithful hope of getting something out of the game, alas, time ran out and Bournemouth took all 3-points.
Bet 365 offer Leicester somehow at slight Odds On 5/6, the Draw at 13/5 and 16/5 for Bournemouth to come away with all 3 points.
Bet 365 offer 5/1 that Jamie Vardy Scores First and 7/4 that there are Over 3.5 Goals.
Home Win 3-1
WEST HAM v EVERTON
Late Saturday afternoon kick-off live on BT Sports.
West Ham got a terrific result last time out beating Huddersfield 4-3 at the London Stadium. What was terrific about the win was West Ham took the lead against the Terriers through a Mark Noble penalty. The Bubbles then found themselves 3-1 behind with 15-minutes to go against the worst team in the Premier League but showed tremendous resilience and scored 3-goals to take all 3-points. Angelo Ogbonna and 2 from Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez got the late goals to lift West Ham up to 9th in the Premier League Table. Manuel Lanzini got a good 90-minutes under his belt after coming back from a long term injury and with Chicharito in the side, goals will never be far away. Javier came on as a 2nd-half substitute and will have hoped his goals get him into the starting lineup against the Toffees.
Everton got arguably their best result of the season prior to the International Break, comfortably beating Sarri-Ball’s Chelsea at Goodison Park. Richarlison and Gylfi Sigurdsson got the goals in the 2-0 victory over Chelsea with Gylfi’s goal coming from his missed penalty. He took the spot-kick which the Chelsea ‘keeper Kepa saved but unfortunately for Kepa and fortunately for Gylfi palmed the ball straight back to Gylfi who didn’t have to be asked twice to score or did he? A great victory for Marco Silva who is becoming something of an enigma. Is he a good manager? Or is he just getting lucky beating teams who aren’t performing to the best of their ability at the moment? The Toffees should stick with Marco for the foreseeable future and see where his journey takes them, especially after another transfer window.
This reverse fixture back in September at Goodison Park finished 3-1 in favour of the Hammers. Andriy Yarmolenko ( Remember Him!) scored twice in the first 30-minutes of the game with Gylfi Sigurdsson replying for the Toffees right on half-time. Marco Arnautovic got the 3rd for West Ham in the 2nd-half taking the game away from the Toffees and giving the Bubbles all 3-points. Andriy was injured soon after and has missed most of the season. Once fully fit, he will be like a new signing at the London Stadium.
Bet 365 offer West Ham at 17/11, the Draw at 9/4 and 7/4 for Everton to come away with all 3 points.
Bet 365 offer 6/1 that Marco Arnautovic Scores First and 11/4 that West Ham Score in Both Halves and 11/4 that Everton do likewise.
Home Win 3-1
CARDIFF v CHELSEA
Early Sunday afternoon kick-off live on Sky Sports.
Cardiff have had a long break after their last game in the Premier League and what a game that was getting a great victory against West Ham at the Cardiff City Stadium. Junior Hoilett and Victor Camarasa got the Bluebird goals in the 2-0 victory over the Hammers which keeps Cardiff fighting to avoid relegation. Neil Warnock’s men are still in the drop zone but are only 2-points from Burnley who are the team above them and have played a game less than Burnley so in reality, have a great chance to get out of trouble and try and stay in the Premier League for a 2nd season. If Neil keeps them up he should surely be up there for the manager of the season award. Like Roy Hodgson, Neil is managing in his 70s which is a great achievement for both Roy and Neil. Some can still remember Mr Warnock playing his football for Barnsley FC and having the current Republic of Ireland manager Mick McCarthy as his boot cleaner at Oakwell. Simply put, if Cardiff win all of their remaining 8 Premier League games then Neil will be a Premier League Manager next term. Which does appear simple but in reality will be hard to achieve. That said Neil will take each game one at a time and will fight until the end especially considering the emotional season Cardiff have endured. It would be a fitting tribute to Emiliano Sala if Cardiff can stay in the Premier League.
Chelsea head to South Wales off the back of a 2-0 defeat against Everton last time out. Sarri-Ball looks like a dead man walking and will surely be on his way out of Stamford Bridge at the end of the season. The fact that they are still in the Europa League and winning that competition will guarantee Champions League football for the Blues next season is possibly the reason Sarri hasn’t left already. Chelsea look almost certain to miss getting into the Champions League via a Top 4 finish so will pin all their hopes on winning the Europa League. Chelsea do have a favourable draw against Slavia Prague in the Quarter-finals of the Europa League but their one concern is that Arsenal are still in that competition too and Unai Emery is a seasoned winner of the Europa League and it may be Arsenal’s only way of getting into next season’s Champions League too.
At Stamford Bridge back in September finished in a resounding 4-1 victory for Chelsea. Sol Bamba had put Cardiff in front early on in the game before Eden Hazard scored twice in the 1st-half then completed his hat-trick converting the 2nd-half penalty. Willian made it 4 late on giving Chelsea all 3-points.
Bet 365 offer Cardiff at a massive 8/1, the Draw at 16/5 and Odds On 2/5 for Chelsea to come away with all 3 points.
Bet 365 offer 4/5 for Under 2.5 Goals and 14/1 for Cardiff to Win to Nil.
Home Win 2-0
LIVERPOOL v TOTTENHAM
Late Sunday afternoon kick-off live on Sky Sports.
What a cracker of a game to round off a great footballing Sunday that as included a Glasgow Derby, a game in South Wales and the EFL Checkatrade Trophy final between Sunderland and Portsmouth who are both on the coattails of the mighty Barnsley FC for automatic promotion to the Championship. Rod will still be crying because Brendan left his beloved Celtic. If the Celts beat Rangers I’m sure he’ll be ok. He’s Celtic, United but Brendan has decided that Leicester is the best place for him. Taking for granted that Man City have beaten Fulham in the early Saturday afternoon kickoff, Liverpool will be playing catch-up again and every City fan in the country will become Tottenham fans for 90-minutes. It would be great if Noel Gallagher could sing a rendition of “Spurs are on their way to Wembley “ and get Liam to sing the Ossie Ardiles bit. Liam singing “In the Cup for Tottingham.. as you were” Liverpool haven’t lost a game of football since their FA Cup defeat against Wolves back at the beginning of January, a 12-game unbeaten run with their last game prior to the International Break a nervy 2-1 victory over Fulham. Sadio Mane and a James Milner penalty gave Liverpool the goals to give them the win against the Cottages and take the Reds back to the Top of the Premier League prior to this weekend’s games. The great thing about this season’s Premier League race is it looks like it’s going down to the wire and won’t be over too soon, which fans of the Premier League all want.
Tottenham have hit a bit of a slump just at the wrong time of the season. Their latest Premier League venture prior to the International Break was a 2-1 defeat against Southampton. The annoying thing for the Spurs faithful was Harry Kane had put Tottenham in front in that game and rarely lose when taking the lead. Tottenham have lost 3 out of the last 4 Premier League games and only gained a point from the 4th which now leaves them on 61-points which is 15-points behind Liverpool and only 1-point above 4th-placed Arsenal who don’t play until Monday and 3-points above 5th-placed Manchester United. Tottenham do have a far superior goal difference to United so will still be in 3rd-place prior to this game even if United win, unless United beat Watford 8-0. A couple of weeks back Tottenham were serious title contenders now they are struggling to hang on to a Top 4 finish. If Tottenham lose this game against Liverpool and Arsenal subsequently beat Newcastle on Monday Night Football then Arsenal will leapfrog above the Lilywhites and that will definitely not go down well at Wembley or White Hart Lane or wherever they call home at the moment. It’s rumoured that the new White Hart Lane will be ready in a couple of weeks time and Crystal Palace have the honour of playing the first competitive match against Tottenham which will be as soon as the 3rd of April which is a Wednesday, so will be a great occasion, under the lights at the new stadium, for everyone concerned at Tottenham.
At Wembley back in September, Liverpool took the spoils coming away from the Capital with all 3-points beating Tottenham 2-1. Georginio Wijnaldum and Roberto Firmino scored Liverpool’s goals either side of the break. Erik Lamela scored for Spurs with time running out to briefly give the faithful hope of a comeback but the referee blew the whistle and the Liverpool fans headed back North a happy bunch.
Bet 365 offer Liverpool at slight Odds On 3/5, the Draw at 14/5 and 19/4 for Tottenham to come away with all 3 points.
Bet 365 offer 5/1 that Sadio Mane Scores First and 11/8 that Liverpool Score in Both Halves.
Home Win 3-0
ARSENAL v NEWCASTLE
Monday Night Football live on Sky Sports to bring Game Week 32 proceedings to a close.
What a great game for Arsenal to maybe jump ahead of their fierce rivals if Liverpool have beaten Tottenham the day before. Arsenal beat Ole’s rejuvenated Manchester United last time out which will give the Gunners a tremendous lift and if they watch Liverpool beat Spurs on Sunday then surely they will turn on the style against the Magpies. Granit Xhaka and a Pierre-Emerick Aubamayang penalty got the goals to give the Gunners all 3-points against United. They do have the safety net of the Europa League if they don’t finish in the Top 4 but will surely want to go above their North London rivals and guarantee a place in the Champions League before the Europa League finishes.
Newcastle’s faithful will love a day out in London on a Monday. The Fixture List Computer Compiler must have had a giggle when this fixture came out. You can hear the Toon Army now saying “wye aye Man, a canny trip doon South to Loondon to watch NooCassel like” “I ‘ll have to ring in sick on Tuesday like”. They’ll be there with there Newcastle Brown Ale and their shirts off. Mind You, London in March is like Ibiza in June for the Toon Army. Rafa’s boys played in a great game down on the South Coast getting a well-deserved point in a 2-2 draw against Bournemouth. Salomon Rondon put the Magpies ahead on the stroke of half-time and with time running out and trailing 2-1, ex-Cherries boy Matt Ritchie got the equaliser for Newcastle to send the Toon Army home ecstatic. Newcastle are relatively safe but still need at least another 5-points to guarantee another season in the Premier League. This game against Arsenal will be tough, more so if Arsenal have the added incentive of overtaking Spurs but at least the Toon Army will have a nice day out in the Capital.
This reverse fixture back in mid-September at St James Park finished 2-1 in favour of the Gunners. After a goalless 1st-half, Granit Xhaka and Mesut Ozil scored the Arsenal goals. Ciaran Clark got a late consolation for the Magpies but ultimately it was a loss for the home side.
Bet 365 offer Arsenal at Odds On 4/11, the Draw at 7/2 and a massive 8/1 for Newcastle to come away with all 3 points.
Bet 365 offer 5/1 that Pierre-Emerick Aubamayang Scores First and 2/1 Salomon Rondon Scores Anytime.
Home Win 2-1
WATFORD v FULHAM
Watford come into this game after a spirited effort at Old Trafford on Saturday. Unfortunately for the Hornets faithful they witnessed a defeat at the hands of Ole’s rejuvenated Manchester United but certainly can hold their heads up high in how they performed and should have at least come away with a draw. Abdoulaye Doucoure got a late goal in the 2-1 defeat against United, briefly giving Watford hopes of a point but ultimately Abdoulaye’s strike was only a consolation. Javi Gracia will put that to bed and move onto this very winnable game that could cement Fulham’s fate and confirm their imminent relegation.
Fulham’s 8th straight defeat at the hands of Premier League Champions elect Man City virtually sealed relegation leaving the Cottages 16-points from safety with only 6-games to play. Scott Parker is only in temporary charge at Craven Cottage although, will be hoping for the job full-time. Is Scott experienced enough to try and gain automatic promotion back to the Premier League once confirmation of relegation is confirmed? It was perhaps significant that ex-Chelsea boss Antonio Conte was in the stands for the 2-0 defeat against City. Could Shad Khan convince Antonio to come to Craven Cottage in the Championship? Like anything, money talks and Mr Khan has plenty so watch this space. Scott will try his utmost to stave off the inevitability of relegation for another week but time and games are running out and thus will be a tough ask at Vicarage Rd and relegation could be confirmed. Aleksandar Mitrovic was absent for the visit of Man City due to a slight injury picked up playing for Serbia. Aleksandar will be on the radar for a lot of Premier League clubs once Fulham are relegated and is unlikely that he will ply his trade in the Championship for the Cottages.
This reverse fixture back at Craven Cottage was only the 6th game of the season and took place at the end of September. Fulham were still under the guidance of Slavisa Jokanovic and got a point in a 1-1 draw against the Hornets. Andre Gray put Watford ahead in the 1st-half with Alexandar Mitrovic replying for the Cottages midway through the 2nd-period.
Bet 365 offer Watford at Odds On 7/10, the Draw at 3/1 and 7/2 for Fulham to come away with all 3 points.
Bet 365 offer 5/1 that Troy Deeney Scores First and 9/5 Aleksandar Mitrovic Scores Anytime.
Home Win 3-1
WOLVES v MANCHESTER UNITED
Live Tuesday Night Football live on Sky Sports sees Manchester United quickly return to Molineux after losing there in the Quarter-Final of the FA Cup just over a fortnight ago.
Wolves have and had one eye on next Sunday’s FA Cup Semi-Final at Wembley when they headed to Turf Moor on Saturday and were on the wrong end of a 2-0 defeat against Sean Dyche’s Clarets. Wolves comfortably beat Manchester United in the Quarter-Finals of the FA Cup to set up their game against United’s last opponents Watford on Sunday. Nuno Espírito Santo will have to juggle his team around and should rightly prioritise the FA Cup game which could leave then vulnerable against United.
Manchester United have officially confirmed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as permanent Head Coach in the week prior to their game against Watford at Old Trafford on Saturday. The United faithful would have expected more against Watford and although Ole’s men got the job done by getting a 2-1 victory against the Hornets, they weren’t convincing in their performance and Watford were unlucky not to come away with at least a point. That said, a win is a win for Ole after 2 recent defeats, one at the hands of today’s opponents in that FA Cup game a fortnight ago. United were poor at Molineux that night and will want to respond in the right manner. Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial got the United goals in the victory against Watford before conceding a late goal to briefly dent the hopes of the faithful. The victory against Watford took United into the Top 4 of the Premier League and level on the same 61-points as Tottenham but do have an inferior goal difference than Spurs. With Tottenham losing against Liverpool on Sunday and not playing until Wednesday night, a victory against Wolves will take United temporarily up to 3rd in the Table above both Tottenham and Arsenal which will be a remarkable achievement for Ole considering where United were when he took over from Dracula in December. Ole’s at the wheel, he’ll tell them how good that it feels, he’s got Sanchez, Paul Pogba and Fred, Marcus Rashford is Manc born and Bred, the greatest of English football, they’ve won it all.
This reverse fixture back in September at Old Trafford finished 1-1 with Joao Moutinho cancelling out a rare Fred strike for United.
Bet 365 offer Wolves at 11/4, the Draw at 23/10 and Evens 1/1 for United to come away with all 3 points.
Bet 365 offer 5/1 that Marcus Rashford Scores First and 12/5 that there are Over 3.5 Goals.
Away Win 1-3
MAN CITY v CARDIFF
Wednesday Night Football live on Sky Sports.
Man City jumped back to the top of the Premier League after their workman-like performance against struggling Fulham early Saturday Afternoon. The Bernardo of the Silva’s and Sergio Aguero got the Citizens goals in the 2-0 victory over the Cottages. Whilst not at their fluent best, Pep’s boys got the result which keeps them on track in their quest for back-to-back Premier League titles. With Liverpool subsequently beating Tottenham on Sunday, City drop back to 2nd in the Premier League Table but do still have a game in hand over Liverpool. The crunch game will be against United at Old Trafford on the 24th of April. City have to beat their noisy neighbours as Liverpool could quite easily win every one of their remaining games. Ifs and buts at the moment and there will be a lot of twists yet in the Premier League title race but City will feel they have the knowledge and experience to see it through whereas Liverpool haven’t won the Premier League and pressure may come to bear.
Cardiff head to the Etihad after nearly pulling off a great victory against Chelsea on Sunday. Victor Camarasa gave the Bluebirds the lead in the 2nd-half and with time running out, Chelsea got back on level terms through a very controversial goal from Cesar Azpilicueta who was offside when he headed home. Neil Warnock was not happy and raged at everyone within a 5-yard radius of him. Whilst Cardiff were feeling sorry for themselves, Chelsea got another and came away from South Wales with all 3-points denting Cardiff’s hopes of getting out of the relegation places. VAR would have cancelled that opening goal out. Next season should be fun with the dreaded VAR but that’s for the future, for now, Neil’s boys are 5-points adrift of safety but do have a game in hand over Burnley who are immediately above Cardiff. When a team is fighting for survival and are desperate for a win, a visit to High Flying City is not what is required. Whilst no game in the Premier League is a gimme, City will feel this is a certainty for accruing 3-points and Neil and the Cardiff faithful might just have their hands covering their eyes for 90-minutes even resorting to watching DIY SOS on BBC 1, maybe even ringing Nick Knowles up.
This reverse fixture back in South Wales finished in an emphatic 5-0 victory in favour of Pep’s boys. Sergio Aguero, the Bernardo of the Silva’s and Ilkay Gundogan gave City a 3-0 lead at half-time with Riyad Mahrez scoring twice in the 2nd-half to complete the scoring.
Bet 365 offer Man City at massive Odds On 1/11, the Draw at 10/1 and 20/1 for Cardiff to come away with all 3 points.
Bet 365 offer 11/2 that Sergio Aguero Scores a Hat-trick and 13/10 that there are Over 4.5 Goals.
Home Win 7-0
TOTTENHAM v CRYSTAL PALACE
Tottenham are back home at The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. It’s a strange affair in that most would have chalked this season off and stayed at Wembley but finances come into play and it had to happen sometime so the sooner the better for the Tottenham faithful. Tottenham, unfortunately, lost at Anfield on Sunday, unfortunate because they gave Liverpool a scare and a good go with Christian Eriksen equalising a Liverpool 1st-half strike. Unfortunate because Toby Alderweireld turned the ball into his own goal and gifted Liverpool the win. Despite the great season Tottenham have had, Mauricio Pochettino could actually find himself and his Lilywhites outside of the Top 4 come the end of the week and more importantly for the faithful, behind their arch North London rivals the Gooners. That then would put a different perspective on Tottenham’s season and may just make Harry Kane and Dele Alli think about a move up North to Manchester.
Crystal Palace eventually beat struggling Huddersfield on Saturday after a tricky 1st-half. Luka Milivojevic got his obligatory penalty, Luka seldom misses a spot-kick and a Patrick Van Aanholt goal gave Palace the win and the 3-points to edge them safer to avoid relegation from the Premier League. The win also confirmed Huddersfield’s relegation which was always going to happen so Palace can’t be blamed. With Huddersfield gone and Fulham probably going this week, there’s only one place left for the chance to go back to the Championship and the possibility of taking on the mighty Barnsley FC who will be promoted from League 1. Crystal Palace probably need another win to confirm their status as a Premier League team for next season and can spoil the party at the new Stadium.
This reverse fixture back in November at Selhurst Park finished 1-0 in favour of Tottenham. Argentinian defender Juan Foyth got the solitary goal for Spurs.
Bet 365 offer Tottenham at Odds On 4/9, the Draw at 16/5 and 13/2 for Crystal Palace to come away from the new stadium with all 3 points.
Bet 365 offer 4/1 that Harry Kane Scores First at the new stadium and 10/1 that Luka Scores a Penalty.
Home Win 3-1
CHELSEA v BRIGHTON
Chelsea came away from South Wales with all 3-points on Sunday but did experience a scare and Sarri-Ball is still under massive pressure to keep his job at Stamford Bridge. Cardiff took the lead in the 2nd-half and Chelsea had to rely on a dubious non-linesman decision to get back in the game. Cesar Azpilicuerta was 3-yards offside when he headed in Chelsea’s equaliser, much to the annoyance of Neil Warnock. Neil was further enraged when Antonio Rudiger brought down Kenneth Zohore when he was clean through and should realistically have been shown a red card. Whilst Cardiff were still feeling sorry for themselves Ruben Loftus-Cheek sneaked in at the back post and got Chelsea’s winner. Sarri-Ball lives to fight another day but the Blues faithful are becoming restless and surely his time at Stamford Bridge is coming to an end.
Brighton will have one eye on next Saturdays FA Cup Semi-Final against Man City at Wembley so should be forgiven if they don’t perform well at Stamford Bridge. That said, realistically it’s a great opportunity for the boys in a Brighton shirt to say to Chris Hughton “ I want to play on Saturday “ the reverse is also prevalent in the fact that Chris will see who’s up for the fight and who’s just saving himself for Wembley. The Seagulls lost 1-0 against Southampton on Saturday which put Southampton on the same 33-points as Brighton. Chris will have one eye on his League position but will ultimately want to get to the FA Cup final however that competition pitches them against Man City so their league position is important too.
This reverse fixture back at the Amex was played in mid-December and Chelsea came away with the victory beating Brighton 2-1. Pedro and Eden Hazard got the Blues goals that day with Solly March replying for the Seagulls.
Bet 365 offer Chelsea at massive Odds On 2/9, the Draw at 5/1 and 11/1 for Brighton to come away with all 3 points.
Bet 365 offer 11/2 that Chelsea Win 2-0 and 5/1 that Eden Hazard Scores First.
Home Win 2-0
