Football Acca Tips FAQ

What is a football win accumulator (or acca for short)

A win accumulator is relatively straightforward, we simply select the teams we think are going to win the match and place them all in a football accumulator bet. If all the teams win, then we win the bet and the odds on each one of our single bets are multiplied to give us our returns. If any of the teams lose, our bet loses.

An example is as follows;

We place the following win bets in a football accumulator bet. The number after WIN is the single win fixed odds price for that team to win.

18:30 – FC BOTOSANI WIN 1.83 vs CS U Craiova [Romania Liga I]

18:30 – HALMSTAD WIN 1.95 vs Ljungskile [Sweden Superettan]

19:00 – STROMSGODSET WIN 1.66 vs Sarpsborg [Norway Tippeligaen]

19:45 – BRIGHTON WIN 2.25 vs Sheffield Wednesday [Championship]

20:15 – FH HAFNARFJORDUR WIN 1.45 vs Fjolnir [Iceland Premier League]

21:00 – VIKINGUR OLAFSVIK WIN 1.95 vs IA Akranes [Iceland Premier League]

If we placed a £10 football acca bet on the 6 selections above, we would win the following if all 6 teams selected won;

1.83 x 1.95 x 1.66 x 2.25 x 1.45 x 1.95 = 37.68 total odds

37.68 * £10 stake equals to £376.80 return and £366.80 profit after we deduct our initial £10 stake.

Some bookies will actually offer a refund of the bet if one of the legs lets you down. Betfair for example have the Betfair Acca Edge, where they will refund your stake in cash, not free bet tokens, if the last leg of a football acumulator bet does not win. This only applies to acca bets of 3 legs or more.

What are the benefits of placing a football acca bet?

As mentioned earlier in this post, you will not make life changing sums of money betting on single fixed odds football tips as the odds on offer are just too skinny. Unless you are so much recreational cash lying about, then you will not be able to make £200+ without placing your bets  in an football acca. It also is exciting to place a 10 team accumulator and see the returs you can possibly make to a tiny initial outlay. Regularly you hear of punters who win £50,000+ from placing a £1 accumulator on a Saturday. It definitely makes a game more interesting when you have a small wager on it. Obviously, you should only bet with money you can afford to lose, and the bets placed must be purely for recreational purposes. If we take more money from the bookies, then we give them, all the better!

What exactly is a football acca

A football acca is basically what we advised above. They usually combine 4 selections minimum in one wager/bet. All the selections must win for your bet to be paid out. You can make as many selections as you want in a football acca, and the odds simply get multiplied up so you can end up with huge odds and a massive payday if it comes off. Of course the more selections you pick will mean the higher variance of your results.

Why are football accas so popular?

It is hard to know the exact reason as to why these football acca bets are so popular but we think the main reason is because football is the biggest sport in not only the UK but around the world. Every since the English Division 1 league was renamed the Premiership and all the money from TV pumped back into the sport, it has become a staple of every day life. Football is now broadcast 7 days a week and has channels just entirely dedicated not just to particular leagues but each club has their very own channel!

It is not estimated that 70% of all bets wagered in the UK are on football. This totally outweighs the money that is bet on horse racing, which used to be the number one sport in the UK for betting.

The main reasons then why football accas are so popular is simply because recreational punters want to win a sizable chunk when betting, but betting single bets at odds on prices will not satisfy this urge. Therefore placing large football acca bets allows a punter to bet a small amount but win huge when it pays off. It combines the thrill of winning the lotto, but also getting to enjoy watching a sport you love as well. It’s a win win situation.
