Tim Lawson’s ITV Horse Racing Tips, Royal Ascot Day 4 2018

Stradivarious was the top performer yesterday.

Tracked leaders, pushed along over 3f out, ridden over 2f out, led narrowly over 1f out, edged right inside final furlong, stayed on gamely, in control towards finish (op 2/1)

However today, lets see if we can get a few more winners.

Here is the ITV racing schedule for Day 4 of Royal Ascot.

14:30 The Albany Stakes (Group 3)
15:05 The King Edward VII Stakes (Group 2)
15:40 The Commonwealth Cup (Group 1) (British Champions Series)
16:20 The Coronation Stakes (Group 1) (British Champions Series)
17:00 The Sandringham Stakes (Handicap)
17:35 The Duke of Edinburgh Stakes (Handicap)

Now back to our professional horse racing tips.

14:30 The Albany Stakes (Group 3)

Aidan O Brien’s pair of contenders lead the market in this race and its hard not to see why. Ryan Moore sides with the current favourite Just wonderful. Current price is 2/1 where her stablemate, Fairyland is 7/2. The favouritism is due of course to the horses winning start, excellent pedigree and Ryan Moore making this the first choice. However, let’s side with the second favourite as it has that extra race under her belt and has won a listed race last time out. Of course, this is a race I could easily avoid betting in as too many unknowns.

Fairyland 7/2

15:05  The King Edward VII Stakes (Group 2)

This race is wide open so most of these horses have a chance. We will side with Old Persian as it has a best record on the going and looks to be improving as long as it lasts the trip.

Old Persian 5/1 Each Way

15:40 The Commonwealth Cup (Group 1) (British Champions Series)

Sioux Nation looks like it was primed to win this race. It has the class ability and already shown to like the Ascot track.

Sioux Nation 7/2

16:20 The Coronation Stakes (Group 1) (British Champions Series)

Clemmie has to make up 7+L on Alpha Centauri on their Irish 1000 Guineas encounter. We all know that O’Briens horses always come on for a run, but is this too much to make up?

Alpha Centauri 7/2

17:00  The Sandringham Stakes (Handicap)

3 year old handicaps are not exactly my cup of tea, so I put forward Di Fede, as it has the best speed figures this year and on this going. However, no excuses if you want to avoid this race.

Di Fede 14/1

17:35  The Duke of Edinburgh Stakes (Handicap)

Finally, an all age handicap race to look forward to. We like the looks of Fire Fighting. The horse is in great form and is well weighted for this contest. Absolutely loves the going, distance and has a decent record at this class. Trainer is in great form and has a top jockey on board.

Fire Fighting 25/1 Each Way
