 1. Welcome Bonus 

The Sign Up Process

The signup process was pretty straightforward-name, address, phone number, e-mail address and a password, bank card details to set up the first payment of £20. 

I had previously checked the Welcome Bonus Offer and have decided not to accept it. The offer consists of putting on a £10 bet for a £5 bonus bet and then for each of your next three bets, they work out 50% of the average and give you that as a bonus. (So 3 x £2 bets = £6 divided by 2 = £3 bonus). They will pay that 4 times up to a maximum of £5, making a £25 bonus in all. Hope that makes some sense. It is a very complicated way of paying out the bonus. 

Added to that, if you use your bonus for a winning bet, they do not pay the bonus amount in any winnings. So, if I use my £5 bonus on an even money winner, I just get £5 back. Now, as my record on placing the first bet to get the bonus is pretty dire, I shall not be taking up the offer but just using my £20 in the normal way.

Value On Offer

Boylesports is a best odds guaranteed bookmaker on both horses and dogs, which means that if your horse finishes at a higher price than you took, you get that. This should not be overlooked, as there is a recent trend from well known bookmakers to remove this excellent promotion. Its gives recreational punters an extra chance to enjoy their betting.

I checked all their prices on Oddschecker on Tuesday 12th November with the two meetings at Huntingdon and Fairyhouse. They matched all the top bookies with the first and second favourites, but I found them behind the mark with some of the ‘rags.’ For instance, Strictly Art in the first race at Huntingdon was quoted at 150/1 with Hills but only 125/1 with Boylesports and this seems to be the case with most of the outsiders.

On football, Boylesports' offer for Liverpool to win the Premier League is 4/11, but there is 2/5 as well as 21/50 in other places. So, simply, they are behind the mark here.

I got in touch with Wendell via Chat to find out about Lucky 15’s. They do not pay a bonus for four winners in these bets and only pay double the odds for one winner. That was quite disappointing, but it is in line with most of the online bookmakers.

Event - Ascot Champions Day & Cheltenham 2-day festival

ITV Racing have a mix of meetings the weekend of this betting trial, with the main attraction being Kempton, where five races are being covered. These are backed up by one race at Newcastle, the Eider Chase, but I can’t help feeling that jump racing at Gosforth Park has declined since the all-weather track was laid down. 2 of my lucky 15 tips for the day were declared non runners due to the ground going soft, which put an end to my original betting plans.

I should know better than rely on my soccer knowledge, but again the site was easy to use, it’s just my knowledge that is useless. On Sunday, I looked at football but decided to give it a miss and stick to the horses.

On this easily negotiable site, I placed a 20p Lucky 31 costing £6.20 and sat down in front of the TV to watch the betting and perhaps follow the money and have the odd single. Nothing exciting that I fancied, so just let the Lucky31 run and had two winners at 2/1 and 11/4, which paid precisely £6.20, so got my money back. Later on, I decided to have a look at the casino part of the site and found it all very colourful but not very enticing for me. I played a few games on the slots and ended up about level, so I went back to the sports site.

After my weekend's betting, my bankroll was down to approx £5. Boylesports may have won this time, but I will be back!

Overall Rating

Overall, I found the site much easier to use than some others out there. It is clearer, easy to navigate and simple to follow. The signup process is easy and asks the usual questions. The only thing I could pick up on was that some of the odds could be better, especially for football. I also found out that the £25 Bet Bundle signup bonus offer was not suitable for me as a small punter. Other than that, the site is excellent and I would recommend Boylesports to any of my friends who wanted to start online betting.
