With no racing in the UK, The television cameras have been taken across the water to Ireland and are showing five races from Thurles in County Tipperary. This lovely little jumps course is right handed about a mile and a quarter round with a stiff uphill finish, the ground is currently advertised as soft and rain is expected on Saturday.

I will start with the 2.10, a 2m 6f Hurdle, Mary Frances trained by Martin Hassett is highly fancied here after winning last time out at Punchestown in February. She made all that day but I don’t think she will have it all her own way here and I like the look of Moyhenna from Denis Hogan’s yard. She was pulled up in a Grade A race at Gowran Park in January when she found the pace too hot but she showed good form last spring winning twice and the drop back in trip should help.
At 2.40 there is a Handicap Hurdle over 2m 6f and Seamus Spillane runs Goulane Jessie here, she ran an excellent second at Fairyhouse in January and fully deserves to get her head in front.
There is a Novice Chase over 2m 2f at 3.10 and top trainer Gordon Elliott has Dallas Des Pictons in the lineup. He won over this distance last October and has been upped in trip since without success, he drops back hoping for a victory here. But he may be thwarted by Mrs Harrington’s young mare, Emily Moon, who won here at Thurles over this distance last time out at the beginning of this month. She won by 13 lengths that day and looks fully able to step up in class here.
At 3.40 there’s a Handicap Chase over 2m4f and Seskin Flyer looks the answer here. Patrick Carey’s gelding was disqualified last time after the jockey failed to weigh in, but he has been running consistently without winning and may well get his reward.
