Saturday Horse Racing Preview & Tips – 28th December – Copperhead To Prove His Mettle

Here are your Lucky 15 selections, provided by EveryTip’s Seymour Biz. Find all previous UK racing previews in his weekly column: Saturday Horse Racing Tips.

To all those of you who are still nursing hangovers after the Christmas festivities and the fabulous racing on Boxing Day is now a distant memory, I now offer my thoughts for the Saturday’s racing as provided by ITV. The cameras are at three meetings Newbury and Leicester over the sticks and Lingfield on the all-weather, where one one race is covered and Sir Prize may prove to be the choice in the 2.10. But I want to concentrate on the jumps meetings and look for some value. With that in mind I have picked the best of the TV races and here are my choices for this week’s Lucky 15.

One For Rosie has his first run of the season and Twiston-Davies’s grey looks the answer to this tricky contest at 1.50. In the next I side with Colin Tizzard’s Copperhead who won easily at Wincanton last time and has had this race as his target for some time. In the 3.35 there are plenty of horses in with chances including Mellow Ben and Kateson, but I take a chance on a big outsider and that is Henry Daly’s Whatmore. He lost a shoe at Haydock last time so forget that form and look back to his run at Huntingdon in November. At Leicester Clondaw Westie could well take this for trainer Lawney Hill if he can reproduce the form he showed when winning at Stratford last March, he has had a prep run and with this race as his target this astute trainer may well spring a shock. I wish everyone a Happy and Prosperous New Year, and may every post be a winning one!

Saturday E/W Lucky 15
1.50 Newbury. One For Rosie
2.25 Newbury. Copperhead
3.35 Newbury. Whatmore
2.40 Leicester. Clondaw Westie
