Saturday Horse Racing Preview & Tips – 30th November – Head For Highway One O One

Seymour Biz has spent this week putting together a fantastic preview of the 2019 King George V Chase, which takes place at Kempton on Boxing Day. However, he’s also found time to provide a short preview of Saturday’s action along with his Lucky 15 selections.  Find all previous UK racing previews in his weekly column: Saturday Horse Racing Tips.

The television cameras are at Newbury and Newcastle this weekend and it looks like they are just covering six races in total. Four of those are at the Berkshire course with the first being at 1.50. Nicky Henderson has a really strong hand here and has currently declared four good contenders the best of which could be Colonial Dreams. He ran consistently well last season finishing up with a fine win at Sandown over this distance and although he is having his first run of this campaign, he does run well fresh. Fergal O’Brien has Pride Of Lecale in at the bottom of the handicap and although he is stepping up in class he won well at Market Rasen last time and may take a place. The Ladbrokes Trophy at 3.00 has attracted a strong field as usual and I like the look of de Rasher Counter trained by Emma Lavelle. She said of him this week “We took him to Newbury for a school and if he gets a clear run could be competitive”. He has also had a prep run and can continue where he left off last season.

We have a 2mile Handicap Chase at 3.40 and I give another chance to Gary Moore’s Knocknanuss who could only run sixth in a very hot contest at Ascot last week, he can gain some recompense here. There is a nice outsider in the shape of Double W’s who I saw win at Haydock some years ago, he can take a place for popular trainer Ruth Jefferson. Moving north to Newcastle we have the Rehearsal Handicap Chase at 3.20 and I like the look of Highway One O One from Chris Gordon’s yard. He was unlucky to unseat his rider at Cheltenham a fortnight ago and had run a good second at Fontwell prior to that, he goes well on soft and could well be the answer to this. I will put up a mention for James Ewart’s Ascot de Bruyere who is a course specialist and may take a place at a nice price.

Saturday Lucky 15
1.50 Newbury. Colonial Dreams
3.00 Newbury. De Rasher Counter
3.40 Newbury. Knocknanuss
3.20 Newcastle. Highway One O One
