Saturday’s Horse Racing Preview & Tips- 7th November 2026 – Seymour Biz
Find all previous Seymour Biz racing previews in his weekly column: Saturday Horse Racing Tips.
Two cracking Autumn meetings to look forward to this week at Wetherby and Ascot, with ITV Racing showing nine races in all.
The Wetherby card features the Grade 2 Charlie Hall Chase, the first big chase of the season where Ben Pauling’s Handstands looks a contender, along with two Class 1 hurdle races and a pair of Class 3 contests.
At Ascot, the action consists of a Class 1 Premier Handicap, two Class 2 contests and a Class 3 Chase.
So plenty of competitive action to look forward to as the nights get shorter, and here are my thoughts for value at the two meetings.
Aintree has come to the rescue of ITV Racing’s fixtures after two West Country meetings, Exeter and Wincanton, were deemed unraceable due to lack of rain. There are five races being televised from the Liverpool track, including two Grade 2s and three handicaps.
This Saturday, we finally wave goodbye to the flat season with a meeting from Doncaster where the cameras are covering two Listed contests and the Class 2 November Handicap, which always makes for a good betting race as a finale to the season.
I have looked for value amongst the eight races and here are my thoughts and this week’s Lucky Fifteen.
Saturday Lucky Fifteen
1.15 Aintree. Sans Bruit
3.00 Aintree. Idem
3.35 Aintree. Kings Jet

The first televised race at Aintree is the 1.15 the William Hill Best Odds Guaranteed Handicap Chase, a Class 3 contest run over 2 miles on the Mildmay course. Dan Skelton has the favourite here with Kadastral, who was victorious at Newbury last December. He finished the season with a disappointing run at Uttoxeter in March, and his trainer described him as wanting a quicker surface. So any rain will not improve his chances.
Jane Williams’s Javert Allen has been running in better grades than this but is dropped in class, hoping for a boost to his form figures.
Mickey Hammond and Becky Smith run Coup De Coeur, who won at Cartmel last May after a couple of seconds in the previous months. He can go well after his summer break, but he has top weight to carry.
The class horse here is the joint top weight Paul Nicholls’s Sans Bruit. He won a Grade 3 over this course and distance back in 2024. Last season, he ran in Graded company and was not disgraced at all. One of his best runs was a third place in Grade 3 here at Aintree in April. He is my choice.
At 3.00 it is the Pertemps Network Handicap Hurdle, a Class 2 race run over 3 miles and 1/2 furlong. Nigel and Willie Twiston-Davies’s The Egyptian Prince is the deserved favourite after two victories at Worcester and Market Rasen, but this looks tougher.
Alan King’s Harbour Lake last ran in May at Haydock and is starting to show his age.
Paul Nicholls’s Red Risk won at Musselburgh in February but disappointed on his final two outings.
Top weight is Philip Hobbs’s French Ship, who won twice twelve months ago but was unable to win when upped in class later in the season. He has plenty of weight to carry here.
Jamie Snowden’s Our Guide won a couple of times at the beginning of the season and has been upped in class since. His latest run was in a Grade 3 at Chepstow last month, where he finished a fine third in a 17-runner contest. A bold run is expected.
I like the look of Lucinda Russell’s Idem, who caught the eye when winning at Perth in September, carrying a big weight to victory.
The 3.35 is the Play Lucky Stable With William Hill Handicap Chase. This is a Class 2 contest run over 2m 4f on the Mildmay course. Dan Skelton’s Boombawn is the current favourite. He was last seen running 6th in a Grade 3 at Chepstow last month, and while this is not as tough, he has not won for two years.
Skelton also runs Etalon, who won a Class 2 at Ascot last December. This term he was beaten 11 lengths at Perth in September and pulled up at Ffos Las last month.
Philip Hobbs’s Imperial Saint won a Grade 3 at Haydock in January. He then ran 8th of 22 in a Grade 3 at the Cheltenham Festival, then was a well-beaten 13th in the Grand National here at Aintree. He has a touch of class.
Henrietta Knight’s Southoftheborder is a consistent performer and won a Class 3 over this course and distance in May. His latest run was last month at Ffos Las, where he finished a good second in a Class 2.
Nigel and Willie Twiston-Davies’s Josh The Boss was pulled up in his final two races last season – both were Grade 3s. This term, he ran third then was promoted to second in a four-runner contest at Wetherby last month in a Class 3. This is tougher.
There is an Irish raider lurking at the bottom of the handicap- Kings Jet- trained by CWJ Farrell, and he has shown good form on his last three outings. He ran third at Killarney in August, then fell when leading at Listowel in September. Finally, last month he received recompense by winning at Clonmel. It will probably be worth watching the betting, but that form and his low weight make me give him the nod.
For the final leg of this week’s Lucky Fifteen, I return to the flat at Doncaster, and the last big handicap of the season, the Class 2 Virgin Bet November Handicap at 3.25. Last year’s winner Castle Cove, trained by William Haggas, returns for another crack. Strangely, he has not run since that victory, so perhaps he has had his problems. He has 11 lbs more to carry than last year.
The 2024 winner is also making another bid for glory. Ralph Beckett’s Lord Melbourne was a fine third at York last month, but he also has 11 lbs more to carry than when he was victorious here.
Faye Bramley’s Miss Dolly Rocker was second last year, but she has shown little this term and is 4 lbs heavier than last year.
Last year’s third, Atherstone Warrior, is now trained by Mark Hoad. He was only beaten a short head here at Doncaster in a Class 3 in March. It looks like he has been waiting for some cut in the ground.
The Patrick Neville-trained Alfred Wincham won a Class 3 at York last month in preparation for this, but he has been handed a massive 13lbs for that victory. He can still go well.
Hamad Al Jehani’s Ernst Blofeld won at Kempton in May and has since been running consistently well. He was only beaten a neck in a Class 3 at Newcastle last month. I give him an excellent chance.
However, there have been a couple of three-year-olds that have won this in the last ten years, and there is one with a very good chance this time around. Richard Hughes’s Nobody Knows had a prep run at York in October, but he dwelt at the start and gave himself a lot to do. He finished 5th, but it was considered he did well in the circumstances. He gets a 5lbs weight for age allowance, and the booking of Ryan Moore is noted.
