Game Week-14

All of these midweek fixtures are live on Sky Sports.

Tuesday 02nd December

A quick note regarding this midweek Game Week-14 set.

There are four games in which London-based clubs travel the long distance North to places such as Newcastle (Tottenham), Burnley (Crystal Palace), Leeds United (Chelsea), and Manchester United (West Ham).

That’s married with Northern teams such as Everton (Bournemouth), Man City (Fulham) and Aston Villa (Brighton) making the long distance South.

As well as Sunderland travelling to Liverpool.

Arsenal face fellow Londoners Brentford and Wolves face fellow Midlanders Nottingham Forest.

All of these fixtures are scheduled as Night Matches, meaning the majority of fans from 8 of the clubs have to make long journeys to see their team and won’t get home until well after Midnight.

There are only the Brentford and Nottingham Forest faithful who don’t have to travel too far.

Why has the Premier League Fixture Compilers (PLFC) decided to schedule this set of fixtures on a midweek night?

Would it not have been more appropriate to see the London teams face each other, the North East and North West teams face off against each other and the ones on the South Coast up against each other?

For example,

Already scheduled-

Arsenal v Brentford
Wolves v Nottingham Forest

London-

Crystal Palace v West Ham
Fulham v Chelsea

***Tottenham v Aston Villa

North East-

Everton v Liverpool
Manchester United v Burnley

***Man City v Leeds United

North West-

Sunderland v Newcastle

South Coast-

Bournemouth v Brighton

With there being 5 London clubs and 3 Midlands clubs, one of the two could easily be paired as it’s only a couple of hours up/down the M6 to the Midlands/London.

It’s only an hour over the M62 between any of the North East teams to face Leeds United at Elland Rd or vice versa.

Would those examples of fixtures be better on a midweek night for the fans who pay good money to travel everywhere to see their beloved team?

Maybe it’s something the PLFC need to have a look at for next season.

BOURNEMOUTH v EVERTON

19.30 in England

Bournemouth snatched a defeat from the jaws of victory against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on Saturday.

This EveryTip column often uses that phrase in which it describes when a team are comfortably ahead and then concede goals to somehow lose the game.

Amine Adli and Tyler Adams scored for Bournemouth in the 7th and 15th minute respectively to give Andoni’s Cherries a lead at the break.

Sunderland did convert a penalty on the half-hour mark to halve the deficit.

Sunderland then scored twice in the 2nd-half to inflict the defeat on Bournemouth, leaving all connected with the Cherries, a very long miserable journey home back to the South Coast.

Especially Lewis Cook who was shown a straight Red Card in the 96th minute for a nasty elbow on Noah Sadiki.

It’s a 700 miles/9 hour round trip from Bournemouth to Sunderland, which is a long way home after a loss, especially in the dark, cold and rain that was about on Saturday Night.

The defeat leaves Bournemouth in 11th place with the same 19 points as Brentford, after the first 13 games, which is now a third of the season completed.

Everton were smashed by Newcastle at the Hill Dickinson Stadium in the late Saturday Afternoon Football.

The Big Newcastle Defender Malick Thiaw headed home the opening goal after just 57 seconds of play, the quickest Premier League goal of the season so far.

Funnily enough, the quickest prior to that was scored by Phil Foden a couple of hours earlier in Man City’s game against Leeds United.

Everton then conceded another 2 to trail at the break, plus a 4th on the hour mark.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall scored his 2nd goal in succession following his goal against Manchester United on Monday but that turned out to be just a consolation with Everton suffering a devastating home defeat against Newcastle by a 4-1 scoreline.

Everton sit in 14th place with the same 18 points as Newcastle and Tottenham.

It was January 2025 when the Toffee Faithful got up early and made the long journey South to the Vitality to see their team take on the Cherries.

Unfortunately for the travelling fans, a single David Brooks goal scored in the 2nd-half, saw Bournemouth gain the home victory over Everton by a 1-0 scoreline.

Betfred offer Bournemouth at 23/20, the Draw at 12/5 and 5/2 for Everton to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 9/2 that Antoine Semenyo Scores First and 21/10 that Bournemouth Score in Both Halves.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

FULHAM v MAN CITY

19.30 in England

Fulham gained a brilliant victory across London against Tottenham at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday Night.

Whilst most of the married girls and boys were watching Strictly Come Dancing On Ice Whilst In The Jungle (including the Manchester Ball Thrower and Penistone’s Almost 60 Year Old) the single boys and girls (John Newsome) got to watch Kenny Tete and Harry Wilson score for Fulham with just 6 minutes of play on the clock.

Tottenham did score to halve the deficit on the hour mark but Marco Silva’s Cottagers held on for the win from a 2-1 scoreline.

After 4 defeats in a row back in September and October, Fulham are now unbeaten in 2 and have won 3 of the last 4 with the other being a loss.

There was supposed pressure being put on Marco Silva but that should have eased a bit over the last few weeks.

Fulham sit in 15th place with 17 points from the 13 games played.

Man City gained a home victory over Leeds United at the Etihad on Saturday.

Whilst that statement doesn’t appear too surprising, the manner of the victory left a lot of the Citizens in attendance dismayed by the performance.

When it was assumed a case of ‘how many’ goals City would score (this EveryTip column predicted 5) the reality was, Man City were poor and Leeds United put up a brilliant fight.

Phil Foden scored after 59 seconds then Josko Gvardiol added a 2nd in the 25th minute.

Surely that would push City on to score a hatful more.

Not the case, Leeds scored twice in the 2nd half to level things up and were going for the winner when Phil Foden scored his 2nd, 90 minutes after his opener to eventually give Pep’s (not so) High Flying Blues the win over Dan’s Whites from a 3-2 scoreline.

Probably the limited positivity that City can take from the game is that they managed to get a win without Erling Haaland scoring, with Erling scoring in all of the previous 7 victories.

The win lifted Man City to 2nd in the table with 25 points from the 13 fixtures played so far.

It was then a case of watching the Chelsea v Arsenal game on Sunday, with Pep Guardiola hoping that both would lose.

As it turned out, Chelsea and Arsenal drew their game which was a great result for Pep and his Blues, leaving City in 2nd place, now 5 points behind the Gunners.

Man City gained the away-day victory over Fulham in last season’s encounter between the two at Craven Cottage.

The fixture just happened to be the final game of the 2024/25 Premier League campaign.

Goals from Ilkay Gundogan and Erling Haaland (penalty) gave City the win by a 2-0 score.

Betfred offer Fulham at 4/1, the Draw at 3/1 and Odds On 4/6 for Man City to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 9/4 that Erling Haaland Scores First and 7/4 that there are Over 3.5 Goals.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

NEWCASTLE v TOTTENHAM

20.15 in England

Newcastle became only the 2nd away team to get a win over Everton at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, gaining a brilliant victory by a 4-1 scoreline.

As mentioned earlier the Big Newcastle Defender Malick Thiaw headed home the opening goal after just 57 seconds of play, the quickest Premier League goal of the season so far.

Funnily enough, the quickest prior to that was scored by Phil Foden a couple of hours earlier in Man City’s game against Leeds United.

Lewis Miley and Nick Woltemade added 2 and 3 to give the Magpies a comfortable lead at the break.

Big Malick then scored his 2nd and Newcastle’s 4th on the hour mark and despite Everton scoring a late consolation, Newcastle were in complete control and held on for the brilliant away win, which was the first of the season, having drawn 3 and lost 3 away from St James Park.

That puts Newcastle in with a cluster of teams who all have 18 points from the opening 13 games played.

Now sitting in 13th place with the same 18 as Everton and today’s opponents Tottenham.

Tottenham suffered another home defeat at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, this time against Fulham in the late Saturday Night kickoff.

Fulham scored twice in the first 6 minutes to take control of the game.

Mohammed Kudus did pull a goal back on the hour mark but that just proved to be a consolation with Fulham holding on for the win by a 2-1 scoreline.

That’s Tottenham’s 4th defeat out of the 7 played in front of their home fans, with a win and 2 draws from the other 3.

Those good at Math (as the Yanks say, get ready next Summer!) will see that the majority of Tottenham’s total of 18 points have come from away games.

Four wins and a draw along with a loss in the 6 games played away.

Tottenham sit in 12th place with the same 18 points as Newcastle and Everton.

Newcastle gained the home win when Tottenham last ventured up the A1 to St James Park in September 2024.

Harvey Barnes scored the opener to give Newcastle a lead at the interval.

Dan Burn then scored the equaliser for Tottenham midway through the 2nd-half.

Obviously, Big Dan is a Newcastle player with the goal credited as a Dan Burn OG.

Alexander Isak then scored the winner for Newcastle in the 78th minute to give Eddie Howe’s Magpies the victory over Ange Postecoglou’s Spurs by a 2-1 scoreline.

Betfred offer Newcastle at slight Odds On 8/11, the Draw at 11/4 and 10/3 for Tottenham to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 10/3 that Nick Woltemade Scores First and 10/3 that Newcastle Win Both Halves.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

Wednesday 03rd

ARSENAL v BRENTFORD

19.30 in England

Arsenal gained a point from a draw by a 1-1 score against Chelsea on Sunday.

What will probably irk Mikel Arteta (a lot of things do) Chelsea were reduced to 10 men in the 38th minute, leaving Arsenal with a man advantage for the remainder of the 1st-half and all of the 2nd.

It was the 10 men of Chelsea who scored first just after the restart.

Mikel Merino scored the Arsenal equaliser in the 59th minute and with no further goals both teams gained a point apiece.

The point gained, as remember, it’s always a point gained, not 2 points dropped, leaves Arsenal at the summit of the Premier League table with 30 points from the opening 13 games.

That is now 5 points ahead of Man City in 2nd and 6 points more than Chelsea in 3rd.

All to play for!

Brentford gained the home win over Burnley at the GTech Stadium on Saturday.

After a goalless 80 minutes, the game kicked into life, with Igor Thiago converting a penalty to give the Bees a lead.

Burnley scored an equaliser soon after but Igor then scored his and Brentford’s 2nd before Dango Ouattara rounded off the goals in the 92nd minute to give Keith Andrews’ Bees the victory over Scott Parker’s Clarets by a 3-1 scoreline.

Brentford, who were one of the favourites to be relegated, now sit in 10th place with the same 19 points as Bournemouth.

The Bees in with the B’s.

Both teams shared the points from a draw by a 1-1 score when these two teams met at the Emirates last season.

After a goalless 1st-half, Thomas Partey got the party started on a Saturday Night, scoring the Gunners’ goal in the 61st minute.

Yoane Wissa then equalised for the
Bees 15 minutes later and with no further goals both Londoners went home with a point apiece.

Betfred offer Arsenal at Odds On 2/7, the Draw at 9/2 and 11/1 for Brentford to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 7/2 that Viktor Gyokeres Scores First and Evens 1/1 that Arsenal Score in Both Halves.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

BRIGHTON v ASTON VILLA

19.30 in England

Brighton come into this midweek fixture off the back of a brilliant away-day victory over Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on Sunday.

Maxim De Cuyper scored the opener to give Brighton a lead at the break.

Stefanos Tzimas added a 2nd for the away team late on to give Fab’s Seagulls the win over Sean’s Tricky Trees by a 2-0 scoreline.

That lifted Brighton to 5th in the table with the same 22 points as Sunderland both having completed 13 games so far.

Aston Villa also got a Sunday win, this time against Wolves at Villa Park.

After a goalless 1st-half, Boubacar Kamara scored the only goal of the game in the 67th minute to give Unai Emery’s Claret and Blues the victory over Rob Edwards’ Gold and Blacks by a 1-0 scoreline.

That’s 5 wins in succession for Villa, with 3 straight Premier League victories and 2 in the Europa League.

Following the first 6 games in all competitions where there were 3 draws and 3 defeats, 1 of the defeats being in the Carabao Cup, getting knocked out from a penalty shootout against Brentford, it’s now 11 wins from the last 13 games, with 2 defeats from the others.

Aston Villa sit in 4th place with the same 24 points as Chelsea.

Aston Villa gained the away-day victory over Brighton in last season’s encounter at the Amex.

After a goalless 1st-half, goals from Marcus Rashford, Marco Ascensio and Donyell Malen gave Villa the win from a 3-0 scoreline.

Betfred offer Brighton at 23/20, the Draw at 5/2 and 12/5 for Aston Villa to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 17/2 that Morgan Rogers Scores First and 6/4 that Danny Welbeck Scores Anytime.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

BURNLEY v CRYSTAL PALACE

19.30 in England

Burnley come into this game sitting in 19th place with 10 points following a defeat against Brentford at the GTech Stadium on Saturday.

The loss by a 3-1 score, is Burnley’s 4th in a row, leaving Scott Parker’s Clarets in the drop zone.

After a goalless 80 minutes, Burnley conceded a penalty which was converted by the Brentford Striker.

Zian Flemming scored in the 85th to make the game level, however, Brentford then scored twice to run out comfortable winners.

It’s significant that two of the Newly Promoted teams are now sitting in the relegation zone after both had pretty decent starts.

As water does, the Promoted teams are now finding their level in a very difficult Premier League.

Crystal Palace suffered a home defeat against Manchester United on Sunday.

After losing against Strasbourg in the Europa Conference League last Thursday, it was a game against United in the Sunday midday sun.

Palace were awarded a penalty in the 35th minute which Jean-Philippe Mateta converted.

Unfortunately for everyone connected with the Eagles, Jean-Philippe saw his right foot kick the ball onto his left foot before it went into the net.

This was a complete accident but the rules state that a ‘Double Tap’ has to be retaken.

This rule or law has just changed as previously the spot kick would have stood and the goal disallowed without being retaken.

Now the player has the chance to take the spot-kick again but that only applies if the original kick is converted.

If the player does the ‘Double Tap’ and misses, then that’s that and there’s no retake and no goal.

Jean-Philippe made no mistake with the 2nd attempt, legitimately kicking the ball into the other side of the net, to give Palace a lead at the break.

That was where the fun ended for the Eagle Ultras in attendance, with United scoring twice in the 2nd-half to inflict the defeat on Palace by a 2-1 scoreline.

Crystal Palace haven’t won a game on a Sunday following the previous Thursday’s exploits in the Europa Conference League, with 3 defeats and a draw coming after the European adventure.

The defeat against Manchester United leaves Oliver Glasner’s team in 9th place with 20 points from the opening 13 games completed.

It was November 2023 when the Eagles last soared up the road to Turf Moor.

Goals from Jeffrey Schlupp and Tyrick Mitchell gave Roy Hodgson’s Palace team the victory over Vincent Kompany’s Burnley by a 2-0 scoreline.

Betfred offer Burnley at 4/1, the Draw at 13/5 and slight Odds On 4/5 for Crystal Palace to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 3/1 that Jean-Philippe Mateta Scores First and 7/4 that Crystal Palace Win To Nil.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

WOLVES v NOTTINGHAM FOREST

19.30 in England

Wolves lost again on Sunday, this time in the Midlands Derby against Aston Villa at Villa Park by a 1-0 scoreline.

There’s not much more to say regarding Wolves, other than the Gold and Blacks are just not good enough and will be playing Championship football next season.

Why Rob Edwards left Middlesbrough (who currently sit 2nd in the Championship) to become Wolves’ Manager (who will probably swap places with ‘Boro) is a mystery (the wages paid to Rob probably solve that mystery!)

Wolves remain at the bottom of the Premier League table with 2 points from the 13 games played, which is now 9 points (3 wins) away from safety.

If Wolves were to win all of the remaining 25 games, the points tally would be 75 plus the 2 already earned (77).

That’s not going to happen and it’s more than likely that Wolves will lose most of those 25 games, so relegation will be confirmed sooner rather than later.

Rob Edwards was last seen with his head in his hands, whispering to himself,

‘Why?’

Nottingham Forest themselves suffered a Sunday loss succumbing to a defeat against Brighton at the City Ground by a 2-0 scoreline.

Forest had gained a victory over Malmo in the Europa League on Thursday but as with a lot of teams that have a European adventure on a Thursday night, the energy doesn’t appear to be there on the Sunday, with Forest suffering 4 defeats after 5 Europa League fixtures, with just 1 win coming the Sunday after and that was against Leeds United who most are beating.

Forest sit in 16th place with 12 points from the 13 games played.

Nottingham Forest gained the away-night victory over Wolves when these two teams met at Molineux in last season’s affair.

Goals from Morgan Gibbs-White, Chris Wood and Taiwo Awoniyi gave Nuno Espírito Santo’s Tricky Trees the win over Vitor Pereira’s Gold and Blacks by a 3-0 scoreline.

Both Managers will be somewhere else with Rob Edwards and Sean Dyche in the dugout tonight.

Betfred offer Wolves at 12/5, the Draw at 23/10 and 5/4 for Nottingham Forest to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 5/1 that Igor Jesus Scores First and 12/5 that Nottingham Forest Score in Both Halves.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

LEEDS UNITED v CHELSEA

20.15 in England

‘Leeds, Leeds are falling apart again, Leeds, Leeds are falling apart again.’

Whilst it does appear a bit harsh to start the Leeds United preview this week with the ‘Leeds a falling apart’ statement, following a superb performance against Man City at the Etihad on Saturday, it was still a defeat, with Leeds’ New Name coming to the fore again.

‘Leeds Lost Again’ lost again, this time against Man City by a 3-2 scoreline.

After conceding a goal in the 1st minute, it was assumed the floodgates would open and Man City would score a boatload of goals in the rain of Manchester.

City then scored a 2nd, 25 minutes later so naturally, that was that, game over and everyone getting out the Abacus to keep score of Man City’s tally in the 2nd-half.

That wasn’t the case, suddenly Leeds United started playing after the break and goals from Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha, put the Whites level with just over 20 minutes to go.

Lucas’s goal came from a penalty that Lucas took but had saved by Gianluigi Donnarumma, which fortunately for the Leeds Striker came back for him to slot home.

Leeds then went looking for the winner, however, with 90 minutes up on the clock and a draw appearing to be the outcome, Man City scored the winner to knock the air out of the West Yorkshire Puddings, who trudged off back across the M62 following another defeat.

In truth it was unfortunate for Leeds to ultimately lose the game but lose they did, leaving Daniel Farke’s team in 18th place with the same 11 points as West Ham after the opening 13 games played.

Chelsea gained a brilliant point from a draw by a 1-1 score against Arsenal at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

The ‘brilliant’ bit has to be added as the Blues played for almost an hour with 10 men following Moises Caceido’s sending off in the 38th minute.

Trevoh Chalobah scored early in the 2nd-half to give 10-man Chelsea a lead.

Unfortunately for the Blues, Arsenal’s extra man advantage eventually led to an equaliser to give both teams a share of the points.

The horror challenge by Moises on Mikel Merino means the Midfielder will be missing for this game tonight and the next 2 against Bournemouth and Everton respectively.

Chelsea sit in 3rd place with the same 24 points as Aston Villa both having completed 13 fixtures.

These two iconic teams last met at Elland Rd in August 2022, which saw the home team Whites gain the victory over the away team Blues by a 3-0 scoreline.

Brendan Aaronson, Rodrigo and Jack Harrison got the goals to give Leeds United (Managed by Jesse Marsch) the win over Chelsea (Thomas Tuchel) by a 3-0 scoreline.

One suggests the result might be the other way around tonight.

Betfred offer Leeds United at 7/2, the Draw at 11/4 and Odds On 8/11 for Chelsea to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 9/2 that Cole Palmer Scores First and 18/5 that Chelsea Win Both Halves.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

LIVERPOOL v SUNDERLAND

20.15 in England

After 3 straight defeats, including a devastating loss against PSV Eindhoven at Anfield last Wednesday in the Champions League, Liverpool gained a much-needed win over West Ham at the London Stadium on Sunday.

Alexander Isak scored his first Liverpool goal on the hour mark coolly slotting home from a Coady Gakpo pass.

Coady then scored Liverpool’s 2nd late on giving Arne’s New Slots the victory over Nuno’s Hammers by a 2-0 scoreline.

It was significant that Arne Slot dropped Mo Salah which obviously raised eyebrows, however, Mo isn’t what Liverpool need at the moment.

Mo Salah’s way of playing last season was to stay up front and score goals, without tracking back and helping out the Defence.

Unfortunately, this season, Liverpool need the Egyptian King to not only score goals but to track back and help out whoever is at Right Back which hasn’t been happening.

Granted, that’s not the only reason Liverpool are struggling but it is part of the problem so Arne gave Mo the day off against West Ham on Sunday.

That might just be the case tonight too and it could see Mo Salah on the sidelines for a few weeks.

Liverpool sit in 8th place with the same 21 points as Manchester United, both having completed 13 games.

Sunderland came from 2 goals down to get a victory over Bournemouth on Saturday.

After conceding 2 early goals at the Stadium of Light, Enzo Le Fee converted a penalty to halve the deficit at the break.

Bertrand Traore scored the equaliser within a minute of the restart.

Brian Brobbey scored what turned out to be the winner with 20 minutes remaining to give Sunderland the victory from a 3-2 scoreline.

That was Brian’s second goal in succession at the Stadium of Light, following his strike against Arsenal in the previous home game.

The brilliant comeback leaves Sunderland in 5th place with the same 22 points as Brighton from the opening 13 games completed.

It was the 26th of November 2016, just over 9 years ago, that Sunderland, under the guidance of David Moyes, last headed East to face Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool at Anfield.

Goals from Divock Origi and James Milner gave Liverpool the home win over Sunderland by a 2-0 scoreline.

Betfred offer Liverpool at Odds On 3/10, the Draw at 4/1 and 15/2 for Sunderland to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 3/1 that Alexander Isak Scores First and 11/8 that there are Over 3.5 Goals.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

Thursday 04th

MANCHESTER UNITED v WEST HAM

20.00 in England

Manchester United came from a goal behind to inflict a defeat on Crystal Palace by a 2-1 scoreline on Sunday.

After conceding a penalty which was eventually converted after 2 attempts, to trail at half-time, goals from Joshua Zirkzee and Mason Mount gave United the away-day victory at Selhurst Park.

It was mentioned in last week’s EveryTip column that Joshua Zirkzee isn’t good enough to be a Manchester United Striker.

The lad must have read this column and thought,

‘Do one John Boy, I’ll show you!’

Which JZ did by scoring his first goal of the season.

To be fair to John Newsome, who still doesn’t rate Joshua as a Manchester United Striker, the Dutchman hadn’t scored in the previous 24 games that he had taken part in.

What will probably infuriate everyone connected with the Red Devils is, how come their team can suffer a defeat against someone with 10 men for over an hour at Old Trafford (Everton) then go away to Selhurst Park to face Crystal Palace who hadn’t lost in the previous 12 at their home and come away with a victory?

Football, it’s a funny old game!

The win lifts United up to 7th in the Premier League table with the same 21 points as Liverpool from the opening 13 games completed so far.

West Ham suffered a home defeat against Liverpool at the London Stadium on Sunday.

After a goalless 1st-half, West Ham conceded twice after the break to ultimately lose the game by a 2-0 scoreline.

There was a bizarre moment of madness in the 84th minute when Lucas Paqueta was shown a Yellow Card for a bit of petulance.

Unfortunately for the Hammers, Lucas continued his petulance by arguing with anyone who was listening (not many) and eventually gave the referee (Darren England) no option but to show Lucas another Yellow Card and subsequently the Red, giving the Brazilian the chance to beat his mates into the showers.

The defeat leaves West Ham in 17th place, just outside of the drop zone with the same 11 points as Leeds United who are in the relegation places due to having a slightly inferior goal difference than the Hammers.

If one remembers, it was Graham Potter’s West Ham who gained the away-day victory over Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United when these two teams met at Old Trafford last season.

Tomas Soucek and Jarrod Bowen scored the goals to give the Hammers the win over the Red Devils by a 2-0 scoreline.

The fact that Graham Potter, who was rubbish as the West Ham Manager, eventually getting sacked after less than 10 months at the London Stadium, with just 6 victories in 25 games, one of the 6 against United, speaks volumes about how bad Manchester United were last season.

Betfred offer Manchester United at Odds On 4/9, the Draw at 4/1 and 6/1 for West Ham to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 11/2 that Bruno Fernandes Scores First and 3/1 that Jarrod Bowen Scores Anytime.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)
