Game Week-15

Saturday 06th

ASTON VILLA v ARSENAL

12.30 in England

TNT Sports

Aston Villa move up to 3rd in the table following their 4th Premier League win in a row and the 6th in all competitions after inflicting a defeat on Brighton at the Amex by a 4-3 score.

It was Brighton that actually scored twice to take an early lead before a couple of Ollie Watkins goals made the score level at the interval.

Amadou Onana and Donyell Malen added 3 and 4 to take the game away from the home team.

Brighton did score a 3rd late on to make it a nervy few minutes for the travelling Villains, who had made the long journey South, however, their idols held on for the victory from a 7-goal thriller.

As mentioned, Aston Villa now sit 3rd in the table with 27 points from the opening 14 games played.
Considering the start where Villa lost 2 and drew 3 of the first 5 games, it’s a great achievement for all connected with the club.

Arsenal gained the predicted home win over Brentford at the Emirates on Wednesday.

Goals from Mikel Merino and Bukayo Saka gave the Gunners the victory over the Bees by a 2-0 scoreline.

After seeing Man City close the gap to 2 points by getting a victory the night before, it was imperative that Arsenal got a win also, to maintain the 5-point advantage at the summit.

Arsenal sit at the top with 33 points from the opening 14 games completed.

Arsenal secured the away-day victory over Aston Villa in last season’s encounter at Villa Park.

Goals from Leandro Trossard and Thomas Partey, both scored in the 2nd-half, gave Mikel’s Young Guns the win over Unai’s Claret and Blues by a 2-0 scoreline.

Betfred offer Aston Villa at 16/5, the Draw at 5/2 and slight Odds On 10/11 for Arsenal to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 10/1 that Morgan Rogers Scores First and 11/10 that there are Over 2.5 Goals.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

BOURNEMOUTH v CHELSEA

15.00 in England

Bournemouth are now winless in 5 following a defeat against Everton at the Vitality on Tuesday.

After a goalless 1st-half, the Toffees scored in the 78th minute and with no further goals, got the away win from a 1-0 scoreline.

That’s 4 defeats and 1 draw from the last 5 games, which is 1 point from a possible 15.

Andoni Iraola will know that’s not good enough and will need to get his boys back on track pretty soon.

However, this game today might not be the one.

Bournemouth drop to 14th in the table with the same 19 points as Brentford, Newcastle and Tottenham from the 14 games completed.

Chelsea were stunned at Elland Rd against Leeds United on Wednesday Night.

Stunned, due to no doubt expecting an easy victory over a struggling team following a great performance against Arsenal the previous Sunday, gaining a point against the league leaders whilst only having 10 men for almost an hour of the game.

Leeds scored twice to take the unlikely lead at the break.

Pedro Neto scored early in the 2nd-half, however, a lack of concentration from Tosin Adarabioyo allowed Leeds to score a 3rd and ultimately inflict the defeat on the Blues by a 3-1 scoreline.

There was some good news for Chelsea with Cole Palmer getting 30 minutes of game time in his legs following a long spell out due to injury.

Cole was introduced on the hour mark when the score was 2-1, however, couldn’t change the fortunes of the Blues, especially after Tosin’s indiscretion.

Chelsea slip to 4th in the table with 24 points from the opening set of fixtures.

A single goal by Christopher Nkunku scored in the 86th minute gave Chelsea the victory over Bournemouth by a 1-0 score at the Vitality last season.

Evanilson had missed a penalty in the 1st-half.

If one remembers, this is the game that produced 14 Yellow Cards, plus a card each for the Managers, by the referee Anthony Taylor, which became a Premier League record for most Yellows.

More cards than Moon Pig!

Surprisingly, despite having 14 Yellow Cards, there wasn’t a Red shown.

Betfred offer Bournemouth at 11/5, the Draw at 13/5 and 6/5 for Chelsea to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 5/1 that Cole Palmer Scores First and 9/5 that Antoine Semenyo Scores Anytime.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

EVERTON v NOTTINGHAM FOREST

15.00 in England

The Sean Dyche Derby.

A single Jack Grealish goal scored in the 78th minute gave Everton the away-night victory over Bournemouth at the Vitality by a 1-0 scoreline.

It also made the long trip South on a cold Tuesday Night, a worthwhile one for the Toffee faithful in attendance.

The win and 3 points leave Everton in 10th place with 21 points.

Igor Jesus also scored the only goal of the game against Wolves at Molineux, giving Nottingham Forest the away-night victory over Wolves by the same 1-0 scoreline as today’s opponents.

That was Igor’s first Premier League goal for the Tricky Trees which could see the Brazilian push on now and score a few more.

The faithful will be hoping so.

Nottingham Forest sit in 16th place with 15 points from the 14 fixtures completed.

16,15,14.

Nuno Espírito Santo’s Nottingham Forest gained the away win over Sean Dyche’s Everton in last season’s encounter between the two at Goodison Park.

Goals from Chris Wood and Morgan Gibbs-White gave Forest the victory over Everton by a 2-0 scoreline.

Sean will now try and get the win for his new team this year.

Football, it’s a funny old game!

Betfred offer Everton at 23/20, the Draw at 23/10 and 13/5 for Nottingham Forest to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 11/2 that Iliman Ndiaye Scores First and 18/5 that Morgan Gibbs-White Scores Anytime.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

MAN CITY v SUNDERLAND

15.00 in England

Man City gained a victory over Fulham at Craven Cottage on Tuesday.

Whilst that statement doesn’t appear too sensational, City got the win over Fulham by a 5-4 scoreline.

No, that’s not an error, the score on Tuesday night was 5-4 in favour of Pep’s High Flying Blues, with the goals going in as follows-

17′ Erling Haaland- (Man City 0-1)
37′ Tijjani Reijnders- (Man City 0-2)
44′ Phil Foden- (Man City 0-3)
45+2′ Emile Smith-Rowe- (Fulham 1-3)

Half-Time- Prawn Sandwich and Glass of Pimms.

48′ Phil Foden- (Man City 1-4)
54′ Sander Berge OG- (Man City 1-5)
57′ Alex Iwobi- (Fulham 2-5)
72′ Sam Chukwueze- (Fulham 3-5)
78′ Sam Chukwueze- (Fulham 4-5)

Full-Time- Big Mac, Fries and Coke.

In the preview for Game Week-14, this EveryTip column predicted Man City would get the victory by a 4-1 scoreline.

A few of John Newsome’s mates scoffed at that prediction saying that there wouldn’t be 5 goals in the game.

When the score was 4-1 to City in the 48th minute some of the Bookmakers offered a ‘Cash Out’ so it’s hoped a few did ‘Cash Out’ soon after to earn some money for Christmas.

To predict a 4-5 score would have been incredulous.

The victory from the stunning scoreline leaves Man City in 2nd place with 28 points from 14 games completed.

Sunderland gained a brilliant point from a draw by a 1-1 score against Liverpool at Anfield on Wednesday.

After a goalless 1st-half, Chemsdine Talbi scored the opener for the Black Cats to give Sunderland a lead.

The unfortunate Nordi Mukiele was credited with an own goal following a deflected shot by Florian Wirtz to give Liverpool an equaliser in the 81st minute.

In truth, the goal should be given to the Liverpool player but at the moment, it’s somehow classed as an OG.

The point gained leaves Sunderland in 6th place with the same 23 points as Crystal Palace, both having completed 14 games.

It was August 2016, the opening day of the 2016/17 Premier League season, when a David Moyes-led Sunderland team last played Man City at the Etihad.

Sergio Aguero converted a penalty and Paddy McNair was credited with an Own Goal to give Pep Guardiola’s City the win from a 2-1 scoreline.

Jermaine Defoe scored the Sunderland goal to make it 1-1 before the unfortunate Paddy McNair got the OG.

Betfred offer Man City at Odds On 2/9, the Draw at 11/2 and 12/1 for Sunderland to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 7/4 that Erling Haaland Scores First and 13/2 that there are Over 5.5 Goals.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

NEWCASTLE v BURNLEY

15.00 in England

Newcastle played in a very entertaining game against Tottenham at St James Park on Tuesday.

Both teams shared the points from a draw by a 2-2 score.

The Archbishop was happy.

Bruno Guimaraes, who started the game on the bench, was introduced by Eddie Howe at half-time and scored the opener in the 71st minute.

Tottenham then equalised before conceding a penalty when Dan Burn was hauled down in the area.

The situation happens often in games where a Defender is grappling with an Opponent and like a scene from a Rugby Union match, hauls down the attacking player.

It rarely results in a penalty, however, in the game on Tuesday Night, the dreaded VAR got involved and informed the on-field referee Thomas Bramall to have a look at the monitor.

Once that occurred, Thomas awarded a penalty to Newcastle, which was converted by Anthony Gordon, who also started the game on the bench and was introduced by Eddie in the 66th minute.

With 94 minutes up on the clock, it did appear that a win was certain, until Tottenham scored a late equaliser to give both teams a share of the points.

Newcastle sit in 12th place with the same 19 points as Bournemouth, Brentford and Tottenham.

Burnley suffered another defeat on Wednesday, the 5th loss in succession, this time against Crystal Palace at Turf Moor by a 1-0 scoreline.

That leaves Scott Parker’s Clarets in 19th place with 10 points from the opening 14 fixtures completed.

Goals from Miguel Almiron and a converted Alexander Isak penalty gave Newcastle the home win over Burnley when these two last met at St James Park in September 2023.

Betfred offer Newcastle at Odds On 2/7, the Draw at 9/2 and 10/1 for Burnley to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 9/2 that Harvey Barnes Scores First and Evens 1/1 that Newcastle Win To Nil.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

TOTTENHAM v BRENTFORD

15.00 in England

The Thomas Frank Derby.

Tottenham gained a point from a draw by a 2-2 score against Newcastle at St James Park on Tuesday Night.

After a goalless first 70 minutes, Newcastle scored to take the lead, however, Cristian Romero headed home an equaliser 7 minutes later.

Rodrigo Bentancur turned into Mick McManus (1970s Saturday Afternoon Wrestler on World of Sport) and grappled Dan Burn to the ground.

The on-field referee Thomas Bramall originally waved play on but the dreaded VAR got busy and advised Thomas to check the monitor.

As everyone now knows, once this occurs, the original decision is usually upgraded to the next level.

In this instance, Thomas awarded Newcastle a penalty that was converted in the 86th minute.

Despite the late goal, it wasn’t the end for Tottenham, with the Big Captain Cristian Romero scoring his and Tottenham’s 2nd with a brilliant overhead kick to equalise in the 95th minute, giving both teams a point apiece.

Tottenham have drawn 2 and lost 3 out of the last 5 Premier League games, plus a loss in the Champions League and a loss in the Carabao Cup (against Newcastle).

That’s just 2 points accrued from a possible 15, which isn’t good enough.

Tottenham sit in 11th place with the same 19 points as Newcastle, Brentford and Bournemouth, all having completed 14 games.

Brentford suffered the expected defeat against Arsenal at the Emirates on Wednesday.

The loss by a 2-0 scoreline, just needs to be put to bed and not dwelled on too much as most teams will lose against Arsenal at the Emirates.

Brentford sit in 13th place with the same 19 points as Bournemouth, Newcastle and today’s hosts Tottenham, all having played 14 times.

Ange Postecoglou’s Spurs team gained the home win over Thomas Frank’s Brentford in last season’s affair between the two at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Bryan Mbeumo scored the opener in the 1st minute, before goals from Dominic Solanke and Brennan Johnson gave Tottenham a lead at the break.

James Maddison added a 3rd for Tottenham late on to give Ange’s Spurs the victory over Thomas’s Bees by a 3-1 scoreline.

It’s doubtful that after the game, Thomas Frank would have thought,

‘I’ll be in charge of Tottenham next season!’

Football, it’s a funny old game!

Betfred offer Tottenham at 13/10, the Draw at 5/2 and 21/10 for Brentford to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 15/2 that Brennan Johnson Scores First and 6/1 that Tottenham Win Both Halves.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

LEEDS UNITED v LIVERPOOL

17.30 in England

Sky Sports

The ‘Leeds are falling apart’ statement is well and truly locked away in the drawer this week following a brilliant performance by the Whites at Elland Rd on Wednesday.

After 4 straight Premier League defeats and 6 losses from the previous 7 games, Leeds United gained a victory over Chelsea by a 3-1 scoreline.

The Big Slovenian Defender Jaka Bijol headed home the opener from a corner after 6 minutes of play.

The Japanese Midfielder Ao Tanaka scored a brilliant 2nd to give Leeds a lead at the break.

The West Yorkshire Puddings in attendance at Elland Rd, all started singing in unison,

‘A O, Let’s Go!’ and went off for a half-time pie.

Chelsea pulled a goal back early in the 2nd-half, however, a bit of indecision from the Blues’ Defence allowed Dominic Calvert-Lewin to tap home a 3rd to secure the victory from a 3-1 scoreline.

It was a brilliant display from Daniel Farke’s Boys who moved out of the relegation zone up to 17th in the table with 14 points from the 14 games played.

The Puddings all skipped off into the Leeds night singing their famous Ditty,

‘Marching On Together!’

Well, the plus side for all connected with Liverpool is that Arne’s Stuttering Slots didn’t lose against Sunderland on Wednesday, however, the home fixture against the Black Cats didn’t produce a win either.

Sunderland scored the opener in the 67th minute to take a lead.

Florian Wirtz scored an equaliser in the 81st minute that was eventually credited as a Sunderland Own Goal, which doesn’t really make sense as it was a brilliant effort from Florian who needed a goal, coming from a wicked deflection by the Black Cats Defender who doesn’t want it credited to him.

There is a bit of conjecture regarding Mo Salah at the moment, with a lot of the media reporting that there’s been a fallout between Arne Slot and Mo, because the Egyptian King has been on the bench for the last couple of games.

Whilst John Newsome can’t confirm that the two have fallen out, what one can confirm is that Mo Salah isn’t playing well enough to start at the moment.

That said, a lot of the Liverpool players are not good enough at the moment but with Mo only ever playing in one particular position, it is easy to drop MS and give someone else a chance.

It was stated in the previous EveryTip column that Mo doesn’t track back and leaves the Right-Back exposed.

In previous seasons, this hasn’t been an issue as Liverpool’s Defence rarely got into trouble but this season, that’s not the case and the Right Back, whoever that is, needs help, which Mo doesn’t do.

Therefore it is understandable to drop Mo Salah if the lad isn’t scoring.

Which Mo hasn’t done for 7 games now.

The draw from a 1-1 score leaves Liverpool in 9th place with the same 22 points as Manchester United and Brighton.

This could be another tough late afternoon for the Travelling Anfield Rappers.

If one is a Leeds United supporter, look away now.

Liverpool gained the away-day victory over Leeds United when the two last met at Elland Rd in April 2023.

Goals from Coady Gakpo and Mo Salah gave Jurgen’s Reds a lead at the break.

Luis Sinisterra scored for Javi Garcia’s Whites just after the restart, however, that just infuriated the Reds, with Diogo Jota (2), Mo Salah and Darwin Nunez all scoring to give Liverpool the victory from a 6-1 scoreline.

Liverpool also scored 6 against Leeds United in the game at Anfield the previous season.

Betfred offer Leeds United at 10/3, the Draw at 11/4 and slight Odds On 4/5 for Liverpool to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 15/2 that Lukas Nmecha Scores First and 7/4 that Leeds United Score Over 1.5 Goals.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

Sunday 07th

BRIGHTON v WEST HAM

14.00 in England

Sky Sports

Brighton played in a very entertaining game against Aston Villa at the Amex on Wednesday.

However, although the game was entertaining and produced 7 goals, it was Fabian Hurzeler’s men who were on the wrong end of the 7, suffering a home defeat against Villa by a 4-3 scoreline.

What will irk Fab, is the defeat occurred despite goals from Jan Paul Van Hecke and one credited as a Villa Own Goal which gave the Seagulls an early advantage.

Unfortunately for the home fans, Villa scored twice to take both teams in level at the break.

The away team then scored another 2 before Jan Paul scored his 2nd and Brighton’s 3rd of the game to give the Seagull faithful in attendance hopes of a comeback.

Those hopes were dashed when the referee blew the final whistle, leaving Brighton with their 1st loss from the last 5 games.

The defeat leaves Brighton in 7th place with the same 22 points as Manchester United and Liverpool from the opening 14 games completed.

West Ham come into this 2nd away fixture in succession off the back of a draw against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Wednesday.

After conceding a goal just before the hour mark, Soungoutou Magassa scored the Hammers equaliser with 7 minutes remaining, to give both teams a share of the points from a draw by a 1-1 score.

In truth, neither team deserved to win, with the game being pretty dull over the 95 minutes or so.

The point gained leaves West Ham in 18th and significantly in the relegation zone with 12 points from the 14 games played.

Fabian Hurzelers’ Brighton team gained the home win over Graham Potter’s West Ham side when these two met at the Amex last season.

Yasin Ayari scored the opener in the 13th minute to give the Seagulls a lead at the break.

Mohammed Kudus and Tomas Soucek then scored for the Hammers early in the 2nd-half.

It was left up to Kaoru Mitoma and Carlos Baleba to get the Brighton goals late on to give the home team the victory from a 3-2 scoreline.

Betfred offer Brighton at Odds On 8/15, the Draw at 10/3 and 5/1 for West Ham to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 7/2 that Danny Welbeck Scores First and 23/20 that Brighton Score in Both Halves.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

FULHAM v CRYSTAL PALACE

16.30 in England

Sky Sports

Fulham played in an amazing game against Man City at Craven Cottage on Tuesday, one of the best games in Premier League history.

However, despite Fulham scoring 4 goals against City, the away team scored 5, meaning it was still a defeat for the Cottagers, by an amazing 5-4 scoreline, with the goals going in as follows, as mentioned in the Man City v Sunderland preview earlier.

17′ Erling Haaland- (Man City 0-1)
37′ Tijjani Reijnders- (Man City 0-2)
44′ Phil Foden- (Man City 0-3)
45+2′ Emile Smith-Rowe- (Fulham 1-3)

Half-Time- Hot Dog and Bovril.

48′ Phil Foden- (Man City 1-4)
54′ Sander Berge OG- (Man City 1-5)
57′ Alex Iwobi- (Fulham 2-5)
72′ Sam Chukwueze- (Fulham 3-5)
78′ Sam Chukwueze- (Fulham 4-5)

Full-Time- Cous-Cous, Sausage Roll and a Gin and Tonic.

Fulham sit in 15th place with 17 points from the 14 games played so far.

Crystal Palace gained a victory over Burnley at Turf Moor on Wednesday.

Daniel Munoz scored the only goal of the game to give the Eagles the win from a 1-0 away night score.

Crystal Palace sit in 5th place with the same 23 points as Sunderland from the opening 14 games played.

Crystal Palace gained the away-day victory over Fulham in last season’s affair between the two at Craven Cottage.

The ex-Eagle Joachim Andersen was credited with the Palace opener, to give the away team a lead at the interval.

The lad must have thought he was still a Crystal Palace player.

Daniel Munoz added a 2nd midway through the 2nd-half and with no further goals, Palace got the win from a 2-0 scoreline.

Crystal Palace also got the victory over Fulham at Craven Cottage a month later in the Quarter-Final of the FA Cup, this time by a 3-0 score.

Betfred offer Fulham at 8/5, the Draw at 9/4 and 9/5 for Crystal Palace to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 4/1 that Jean-Philippe Mateta Scores First and 16/5 that Harry Wilson Scores Anytime.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

Monday 08th

WOLVES v MANCHESTER UNITED

20.00 in England

Sky Sports

Wolves remain at the foot of the table with 2 points from the opening 14 games, following another defeat on Wednesday, this time against Nottingham Forest at Molineux.

There is not much more to add to that other than sacking Vitor Pereira and bringing in Rob Edwards, hasn’t made any difference.

Wolves have this game against Manchester United, then travel to the Emirates to face the League Leaders.

Good luck with that one!

Manchester United gained a point from a draw by a 1-1 score against West Ham at Old Trafford on Thursday.

If the highlights were put on DVD and offered as a Christmas present, it’s doubtful that many would make Santa’s sack to be delivered on the Big Day.

Diogo Dalot scored the United goal just before the hour mark, which was equalised by West Ham in the 83rd minute.

With no further significant action (why would there be with both teams being so poor?) the game fizzled out leaving both with a point apiece.

United finish Game Week-14 in 8th place with the same 22 points as Liverpool and Brighton.

These two met on Boxing Day at Molineux with Wolves gaining the late Christmas present of 3 points from a victory over Manchester United by a 2-0 scoreline.

The New Red Matheus Cunha and Hwang Hee-Chan got the Wolves goals, to give Vitor Pereira the Portuguese Bragging Rights over his fellow countryman Ruben Amorim.

Wolves also got the victory over United at Old Trafford later on in the 2024/25 Premier League campaign.

One’s pretty sure that won’t happen this season.

Betfred offer Wolves at 10/3, the Draw at 11/4 and slight Odds On 4/5 for Manchester United to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 5/1 that Bryan Mbeumo Scores First and 11/5 that Manchester United Win To Nil.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)
