Game Week-16

Saturday 14th

ARSENAL v EVERTON

15.00 in England

Arsenal gained a point from a draw by a 1-1 score against Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday.

After conceding a goal and trailing at the break, the Gunners had to rely on their influential Defender William Saliba to score an equaliser just after the restart and with no further goals, both London clubs shared the points.

With Chelsea gaining a victory over Tottenham, Arsenal are still in 3rd place but are now 2 points behind the Blues, with 29 points from the opening 15 games.

Chelsea have 31 and Liverpool have 35 but Arne’s Slot Machines have only played 14 times due to the postponement on Saturday.

Arsenal face Monaco at the Emirates on Wednesday in the Champions League-League Phase.

Everton’s fixture against Liverpool at Goodison Park on Saturday, fell to the weather, with Storm Darragh causing havoc on Merseyside.

Everton stay in 15th place with the same 14 points as Leicester but following the postponement, now have a game in hand on all the others around them.

The Toffee Rappers still had a good day out with a few of the girls and boys heading into the beautiful City of Liverpool for a Guinness or three to celebrate the fact that Storm Darragh prevented a defeat for their idols against the Red Side.

These two last met at the Emirates in the final fixture of the 2023/24 campaign back in May.

Everton were safe by then but Arsenal were 2 points adrift of Man City at the summit and knew that a win was imperative to keep the pressure on City.

As it turned out, Arsenal did get the victory over Everton, however, Man City also won their final game against West Ham, so in the end Mikel’s Young Guns finished as runners-up with 89 points.

Pep’s High Flying Blues finished as Champions with 91 points.

Idrissa Gueya scored the opener to give Everton a lead, however, Takehiro Tomiyasu equalised for Arsenal to take both teams in level at the break.

Kai Havertz scored the winner in the 89th minute but all was in vain as Arsenal knew that it was another season finishing 2nd to Man City.

Betfred offer Arsenal at Odds On 1/4, the Draw at 5/1 and 12/1 for Everton to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 9/2 that Bukayo Saka Scores First and slight Odds On 9/10 that Arsenal Score in Both Halves.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

LIVERPOOL v FULHAM

15.00 in England

As mentioned in the preview above, the Merseyside Derby was postponed on Saturday, following Storm Darragh’s visit to the United Kingdom.

Despite not playing, Liverpool stayed at the summit of the Premier League with 35 points from 14 games played.

The gap has been reduced to 4 points between Arne’s Slot Machines and Enzo’s Blues, with Mikel’s Young Guns 6 points adrift after the weekend’s results.

Liverpool head to Spain on Tuesday to face Girona in Match Day-6 of the Champions League-League Phase.

The Reds are sitting at the summit of that particular league and will all but confirm their place in the knockout stage if a victory occurs against Girona.

Fulham gained a point from a draw by a 1-1 score, against Arsenal on Sunday.

Raul Jimenez scored the opener in the 11th minute to give the Cottagers a lead at the break.

Unfortunately for Marco Silva’s men, Arsenal scored an equaliser early in the 2nd-half and with no further goals, both Londoners gained a point apiece.

Fulham sit in 10th place with the same 23 points as Brentford from 15 games completed.

It was Jurgen’s Reds that gained the victory over Marco’s White and Blacks in last season’s encounter between these two at Anfield.

Willian scored the opener for Fulham to give the away team a lead at the break.

Two quick goals from Curtis Jones and Coady Gakpo midway through the 2nd-half gave Liverpool the win from a 2-1 scoreline.

Betfred offer Liverpool at Odds On 3/10, the Draw at 5/1 and 9/1 for Fulham to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 7/2 that Mo Salah Scores First and 11/10 that there are Over 3.5 Goals

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

NEWCASTLE v LEICESTER

15.00 in England

Newcastle suffered an away day defeat against Brentford on Saturday with the Magpies being stung by the Bees in a stunning 6-goal thriller.

Alexander Isak and Harvey Barnes both scored in the 1st-half with both goals coming as equalisers after Brentford had scored.

Unfortunately for the travelling Toon Army, their idols conceded a further 2 goals in the 2nd-half, which ultimately left Newcastle with a loss by a 4-2 scoreline.

Newcastle sit in 12th place with the same 20 points as Tottenham, both having completed 15 fixtures.

Leicester were trailing by 2 goals to nil going into the 86th minute against Brighton at the King Power on Sunday.

Then Jamie Vardy scored and assisted Bobby De Cordover-Reid to snatch a draw from the jaws of defeat with the Foxes gaining a point from a 2-2 scoreline.

Leicester sit in 16th place with the same 14 points as Everton, however, have completed 15 games, whereas the Toffees have only played 14 times due to the postponed fixture against Liverpool.

Amazingly this will be Ruud’s first away game from the 7 that RVN has overseen, 4 at Old Trafford whilst in temporary charge of Manchester United and then 2 at the King Power.

It was the penultimate game of the 2022/23 campaign when these two last met at St James Park.

Both teams shared the points from a draw by a 0-0 score.

Leicester were eventually relegated, finishing in 18th place with 34 points.

Newcastle finished 4th with 71 points and gained entry into the Champions League.

Considering Leicester finished just 2 points adrift of Everton and had a better goal difference, a win against Newcastle that day could have staved off relegation, however, that’s football.

Betfred offer Newcastle at Odds On 1/3, the Draw at 9/2 and 17/2 for Leicester to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 100/30 that Alexander Isak Scores First and 100/30 that Jamie Vardy Scores Anytime.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

WOLVES v IPSWICH

15.00 in England

Wolves suffered a defeat against West Ham in the Monday Night Football.

In the game billed as ‘El Sackio’ because it’s thought that the losing Manager will be down the concrete, it was Gary O’Neil’s Gold and Blacks who came off second best with Julen Lopetegui’s Hammers getting the victory by a 2-1 scoreline.

Matt Doherty did score to equalise an earlier West Ham goal, however, the home team scored again to gain the win.

Whether Gary O’Neil is in charge for this game against Ipswich is for the Molineux hierarchy to decide.

Wolves stay in 19th place with the same 9 points as today’s visitors, so this really is the proverbial 6-pointer.

Ipswich were a couple of minutes away from their first home win of the campaign against Bournemouth on Sunday.

Conor Chaplin scored the opener in the 27th minute to give Ipswich a lead at the break.

Unfortunately for the Tractor Boys and Girls in attendance, Kieran McKenna’s team couldn’t add a 2nd goal and when Bournemouth scored an equaliser in the 87th minute, the writing was on the wall, with Ipswich not only, not able to hold on for the win but not even holding on for a draw, conceding a Bournemouth goal in the 95th minute to snatch a defeat from the jaws of victory.

Ipswich remain in 18th place with the same 9 points as Wolves from the opening 15 games played.

It was the 23rd of December 2017, when Mick McCarthy’s Tractor Boys last visited Molineux to take on Wolves who were under the guidance of a certain Nuno Espírito Santo.

That was a Championship affair with Wolves gaining the home victory over Ipswich by a 1-0 score.

Ivan Cavaleiro with the solitary winning goal just before the half-time interval.

The reverse fixture at Portman Rd a month later ended with the same result with Wolves winning by another 1-0 scoreline.

Matt Doherty with that particular winning goal.

Wolves went on to finish at the Top of the Championship and gained promotion, with Ipswich finishing in 12th place.

Undr is spelt that way!

Betfred offer Wolves at slight Odds On 5/6, the Draw at 3/1 and 3/1 for Ipswich to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 6/1 that Matheus Cunha Scores First and slight Odds On 4/6 that Both Teams Score.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

NOTTINGHAM FOREST v ASTON VILLA

17.30 in England

Sky Sports

Nottingham Forest stunned Manchester United in the late Saturday Afternoon Football.

Having not gained a victory over United at Old Trafford since 1994, Nikola Milenkovic rose highest to head home a corner from Elliott Anderson to give Forest a lead just 2 minutes into the game.

Was the 30-year wait for an away win against United about to come to an end?

United scored an equaliser soon after to take both teams in level at the interval.

Morgan Gibbs-White and Chris Wood scored in the 2nd-half and despite United scoring a 2nd and the 5th goal of the game, Nuno’s Tricky Trees held on for a momentous victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford by a 3-2 scoreline.

Forest sit in 5th place with the same 25 points as today’s Midlands visitors but above Villa on goal difference.

As mentioned, Aston Villa also have 25 points from the opening 15 games, following Saturday’s victory over Southampton at Villa Park.

Jhon Duran finally got a place in Unai Emery’s starting eleven and repaid his Manager’s faith by scoring the opening goal after 24 minutes.

Ollie Watkins was dropped to the bench.

The Wild Boy’s goal should have opened the floodgates for Villa over a team sitting at the foot of the table, however, there were no further goals, leaving Aston Villa with the home win by a 1-0 scoreline.

Aston Villa head over to Germany to face RB Leipzig on Tuesday in Match Day-6 of the Champions League-League Phase.

Steve Cooper’s Forest side gained the victory over Unai Emery’s Villa team in last season’s fixture between the two Midlanders at the City Ground.

Ola Aina scored the opener in the 1st-half, with Orel Mangala adding a 2nd just after the restart to give Forest the win from a 2-0 scoreline.

Despite the victory, Steve only lasted another month at the City Ground and was sacked just before Christmas.

Betfred offer Nottingham Forest at 13/8, the Draw at 13/5 and 13/8 for Aston Villa to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 11/2 that Chris Wood Scores First and 11/4 that Jhon Duran Scores Anytime.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

Sunday 15th

BRIGHTON v CRYSTAL PALACE

14.00 in England

Sky Sports

The M23 Derby.

Goals from Tariq Lamptey and Yankuba Minteh gave Brighton a comfortable lead over Leicester at the King Power on Sunday.

With 85 minutes up on the clock, surely Fabian Hurzeler’s Seagulls were on for an away win, however, that wasn’t the case with the Foxes scoring 2 late goals to snatch a point from a draw by a 2-2 score.

The Archbishop was happy.

That’s now 2 draws and a loss from the last 3 games, meaning 2 points from a possible 9 for Brighton, leaving Fab’s team in 7th place with the same 24 points as Bournemouth from the opening 15 games played.

The Archbishop was also happy following Crystal Palace’s game against Man City at the weekend.

Palace gained a point from a draw by the same 2-2 score against City on Saturday.

Daniel Munoz and Maxence Lacroix scored the Eagles’ goals, both going in at the start of each half.

Unfortunately for the Ultra’s in attendance at Selhurst Park, both goals were equalised by Man City to give both teams a point apiece.

That’s now 4 games unbeaten for Crystal Palace who sit in 17th place with 13 points from the 15 fixtures completed.

Three draws and a win.

It was Roberto De Zerbi’s Seagulls that gained the victory over Roy Hodgson’s Eagles in last season’s game between the two at the Amex.

Goals from Lewis Dunk, Jack Hinshelwood, Facundo Buonanotte and Joao Pedro gave Brighton the win over Crystal Palace by a 4-1 scoreline.

Jean-Phillipe Mateta scored the Palace consolation goal when the score was 3-0.

It’s now Fabian Hurzeler and Oliver Glasner who oversee this M23 Derby.

Betfred offer Brighton at slight Odds On 5/6, the Draw at 3/1 and 3/1 for Crystal Palace to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 13/2 that Evan Ferguson Scores First and 5/2 that Jean-Philippe Mateta Scores Anytime.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

MAN CITY v MANCHESTER UNITED

16.30 in England

Sky Sports

The Manchester Derby.

After stopping the unbeaten run and gaining a victory over Nottingham Forest in midweek. Man City could only manage a draw against Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Erling Haaland and Rico Lewis with the City goals, both scored after Palace had taken a lead.

Rico then turned his personal happiness after scoring into sadness, receiving a 2nd Yellow Card and the subsequent Red following a challenge on Trevoh Chalobah.

Pep’s Low Flying Blues sit in 4th place with 27 points from the opening 15 games played.

Manchester United suffered a home defeat against Nottingham Forest in the late Saturday Afternoon kickoff.

Despite goals from Rasmus Hojlund and Bruno Fernandes, 1 in each half, Forest scored 3 to gain the win by a 3-2 scoreline and register their first victory over United at Old Trafford in 30 years.

The defeat leaves Ruben’s Red Devils in 13th place with 19 points from the 15 fixtures played.

Dan Ashworth, who was supposedly the Main Man in the Sporting Director’s role at several clubs, including Brighton and Newcastle, was brought into Old Trafford in July after United paid Newcastle around £3 Million in compensation.

On Sunday, it was announced that Dan had left Old Trafford, with no real explanation as to why.

It appears that there has been a fallout between Dan and Sir Jim Radcliffe, with Sir Jim coming out as winner and Big Dan on his way, probably with a few bob in his pocket.

‘Football, it’s a funny old game!’

Both teams play in their respective European Competitions in midweek with Man City facing Juventus in Italy on Wednesday in the Champions League-League Phase, whilst United head to the Czech Republic on Thursday to face Viktoria Plzen in the Europa League-League Phase.

The fixture this afternoon could be one of the most open games in Manchester Derby history with both clubs being rubbish at the moment and it could be a case of who concedes the most.

Remember, Ruben Amorim has already faced Pep Guardiola this season, overseeing Sporting’s Champions League victory over Man City back in November, with the Portuguese Team getting the win over City by a 4-1 scoreline.

Man City gained the victory over Manchester United in last season’s Derby at the Etihad.

Marcus Rashford scored the opener to give the Numpty Neighbours the lead at the break.

Two goals from Phil Foden and an Erling Haaland strike, all in the 2nd-half gave the Noisy Neighbours the win from a 3-1 scoreline.

Betfred offer Man City at Odds On 8/15, the Draw at 4/1 and 9/2 for Manchester United to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 3/1 that Erling Haaland Scores First and 11/2 that there are Over 5.5 Goals.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

CHELSEA v BRENTFORD

19.00 in England

The West London Derby.

Note the start time, 7 PM in England on a Sunday evening, which has got to be better than watching Call The Midwife.

Although the game kicks off at 7, it isn’t being shown live on the Tellybox in England, that honour goes to Southampton and Tottenham, with their fixture also starting at 7 PM.

Chelsea are now real Premier League Title Contenders following the brilliant victory over Tottenham at the Chas and Dave Memorial Stadium on Sunday.

After conceding 2 Tottenham goals in the opening 11 minutes, Jadon Sancho scored for the Blues to leave the away team trailing at the break.

Marc Cucurella slipped over in the buildup to both of Tottenham’s goals and then changed his boots, maybe the lad was auditioning for Dancing On Ice.

Cole Palmer converted a penalty before Enzo Fernandez scored to make it 3-2 in favour of the away team.

Cole then cheekily converted another penalty by coolly slotting home the ball in the famed Panenka style.

That wasn’t the end of the goals, with Tottenham scoring a 3rd and the 7th of a pulsating game in the 96th minute, however, luckily for the Blues, time ran out and Chelsea gained the victory over Tottenham by a 4-3 away day scoreline.

Enzo Maresca’s Blues sit in 2nd place with 31 points, now just 4 adrift of Liverpool.

That said, as mentioned previously, Liverpool’s game against Everton was postponed so Arne’s Slot Machines now have a game in hand over Enzo’s Blues.

Chelsea head to Kazakhstan on Thursday to face FC Astana in Match Day-5 of the Europa Conference League-League Phase.

Brentford continued their brilliant unbeaten streak at the GTech Stadium by inflicting a defeat on Newcastle from a 4-2 scoreline.

First-half goals from Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa which were both equalised by Newcastle goals, meant the game was level at the interval.

Nathan Collins and Kevin Schade scored in the 2nd-half to seal the 7th home win of the campaign from 8 games played at the GTech, with the other being a draw.

That leaves Thomas’s Bees in 9th place with the same 23 points as Fulham, both having completed 15 games so far.

A note of caution, however, that being, although Brentford have a brilliant record at home, the Bees are joint bottom of the form table when playing away.

After a goalless 1st-half, goals from Ethan Pinnock and Bryan Mbeumo gave Thomas Frank’s Brentford the victory over Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea in last season’s encounter at Stamford Bridge.

Betfred offer Chelsea at Odds On 1/3, the Draw at 5/1 and 15/2 for Brentford to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 5/1 that Nicolas Jackson Scores First and slight Odds On 5/6 that there are Over 3.5 Goals.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

SOUTHAMPTON v TOTTENHAM

19.00 in England

TNT Sport

Once again, note the start time of this game.

After Songs of Praise is out of the way and the kids have been in the bath, settle down for some Sunday Night Football.

It’s got to be better than Dancing on Ice, although Marc Cucurella might be on next year’s series.

Southampton suffered another defeat on Saturday, this time against Aston Villa at Villa Park by a 1-0 scoreline.

That’s the Saints’ 12th loss from 15 games played, leaving Russell Martin’s Southampton team at the foot of the table with 5 points.

Tottenham gained a great advantage by scoring 2 goals against Chelsea on Sunday.

Dominic Solanke and Dejan Kulusevski with the early strikes, both coming before 11 minutes were up on the clock.

The problems then started for Ange’s Spurs with one of the Centre-Backs Cristian Romero having to go off injured after just 15 minutes.

Chelsea pulled a goal back soon after Cristian left.

The fun started after the half-time break when Yves Bissouma inexplicably dove in on Moises Caceido in the area and gave away a penalty.

There wasn’t any need for the dreaded VAR to get involved.

Chelsea then scored a 3rd and when Ismaila Sarr brought down Cole Palmer, the Blues were awarded a 2nd penalty, which Cole coolly slotted home.

The other Centre-Back who started for Tottenham, him being Micky Van De Ven also picked up an injury and was replaced in the 80th minute.

Son Heung-Min scored a 3rd goal for Tottenham in the 96th minute, however, time ran out for the home team leaving back-to-back defeats for Ange Postecoglou and his Sorry Set of Spurs.

Tottenham have lost 3 of the last 5 Premier League games, with a draw and a win in the other 2, meaning 4 points from a possible 15 on offer, leaving Ange’s Spurs in 11th place with the same 20 points as Newcastle.

Tottenham face Rangers at the Chas and Dave Memorial Stadium on Thursday, in an All British Match Day-6 encounter of the Europa League-League Phase.

There will be a certain lovable OzScot over in Melbourne up early watching that particular game.

It was Ruben Selles’ Saints that took on Antonio Conte’s Spurs when these two teams last met at the Chas and Dave Memorial Stadium, back in March 2023.

Both teams shared the points from a draw by a 3-3 score, with the goals going in as follows,

45+1′ Pedro Porro- (Tottenham 0-1)

Half-Time Meat and Potato Pie.

46′ Che Adams- (Southampton 1-1)
65′ Harry Kane- (Tottenham 1-2)
74′ Ivan Perisic- (Tottenham 1-3)
77′ Theo Walcott- (Southampton 2-3)
90+3′ James Ward-Prowse- (South 3-3)

Full-Time Advocaart and Lemonade (Snowball).

Betfred offer Southampton at 3/1, the Draw at 7/2 and Odds On 8/11 for Tottenham to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 5/1 that Son Heung-Min Scores First and Evens 1/1 that Tottenham Score in Both Halves.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

Monday 16th

BOURNEMOUTH v WEST HAM

20.00 in England

Sky Sports

Bournemouth were trailing by a goal to nil going into the final minutes of the game against Ipswich at Portman Rd on Sunday.

Enes Unal scored an equaliser in the 87th minute and when it appeared a draw was on the cards, Dango Ouattara scored the winner in the 95th minute to give Andoni’s Cherries the victory over Kieran’s Tractor Boys by a 2-1 away day score.

That’s 3 wins in a row now for Bournemouth.

In the last 13 Premier League games, Bournemouth have 7 Wins and 5 Losses with 1 Draw thrown in, which sort of suggests that Andoni Iraola’s team go all out for the victory and if a defeat occurs, so be it.

Bournemouth sit in 8th place with the same 24 points as Brighton.

West Ham came out on top against Wolves, on Monday, in the ‘Battle of the Under Pressure Managers.’

After a goalless 1st-half, Tomas Soucek and Jarrod Bowen scored to give the Hammers the victory by a 2-1 scoreline.

Wolves had equalised the opener from Tomas.

The win should ease the pressure on Julen Lopetegui but the question is, for how long?

Are the West Ham hierarchy just waiting for the Hammers to lose then the Spaniard will be sacked?

West Ham sit in 14th place with 18 points from the opening 15 games played.

Michail Antonio was involved in a car accident over the weekend and missed the game against Wolves.

The Striker has suffered a severe injury to his leg so will be out of action for quite a while.

All the best Michail.

Both teams shared the points from a draw by a 1-1 score when West Ham last visited the Vitality.

That fixture just happened to be the opening game of the 2023/24 Premier League campaign.

After a goalless 1st-half, Jarrod Bowen scored to give West Ham a lead, before Dominic Solanke equalised for Bournemouth and with no further goals, both gained a point apiece.

Betfred offer Bournemouth at Odds On 7/10, the Draw at 16/5 and 18/5 for West Ham to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 5/1 that Justin Kluivert Scores First and Odds On 8/15 that Both Teams Score.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

The Top of the Scottish Premier League remains the same following the weekend’s football North of the Border.

Celtic sit at the summit of the Pub League with 43 points after a convincing victory (3-0) over Hibernian (who?) on Saturday.

Aberdeen remain in 2nd place with 34 points following a draw (1-1) against St Johnstone (who?) on Saturday.

Rangers have closed the gap between themselves and the Dandy Dons and sit 3rd in the table with 32 points following their victory (3-0) over Ross County (who?) on Sunday.

The significant factor from the Top Three is Aberdeen have completed 16 fixtures, whereas both the Glasgow teams have only played 15 times.

Celtic take on Dinamo Zagreb in Croatia on Tuesday in their 6th Champions League-League Phase game.

Rangers face Tottenham at Ibrox on Thursday in an All-British Europa League-League Phase fixture.

Hearts head to Denmark on Thursday to take on FC Copenhagen in their Europa Conference League-League Phase Match Day-5 encounter.

Shamrock Rovers who represent the Ireland Premier League, face Borac Banja Luka from Bosnia and Herzegovina in their Europa Conference League-League Phase game.

Larne of the Northern Ireland Premiership head to Belarus to take on Dinamo Minsk.

To round off the British and Irish interest in the Europa Conference League-League Phase, TNS (The New Saints) of the Welsh Premier League host Panathinaikos in Match Day-5 of that particular European Competition.
