Game Week-19

Sunday 29th

LEICESTER v MAN CITY

14.30 in England

Sky Sports

Ruud Van Nistelrooy’s honeymoon period at the King Power Stadium is definitely over following a 3rd defeat in a row for his Skulk of Foxes.

After losses against Newcastle and Wolves, Leicester headed to Anfield to face the league leaders Liverpool.

Although the inevitable defeat occurred, Leicester did stun the Anfield Rappers by scoring the opener in the 6th minute.

Jordan Ayew with the goal, his 4th of the season so far.

Unfortunately, that kicked Liverpool into life with Arne’s Slot Machines scoring 3 goals to ultimately inflict the defeat on the Foxes by a 3-1 scoreline.

The defeat leaves Leicester in the relegation zone, sitting in 18th place with 14 points from 18 games played.

Man City continued their winless streak on Boxing Day, although it wasn’t another defeat, with City gaining a point from a draw by a 1-1 score against Everton at the Etihad.

The Etihad is often referred to as the Emptyhad due to the Citizens sometimes failing to turn up to watch their idols.

The stadium has a capacity of just over 55,000, however, on Boxing Day, there were probably around 10,000 of that maximum capacity missing, with some choosing to go and watch Oldham.

The funny thing about that was, when the New Dad (Rickster) turned up at Boundary Park, Oldham’s Boxing Day clash with York City was postponed due to Fog.

Back in 1996, John Newsome headed West along the M62 to Oldham for a Night Fixture between Oldham and Barnsley.

Whilst stood outside the turnstile, 10 minutes before kickoff, it came over the tannoy that the game had been cancelled due to Fog.

The Latic fans along with the Super Reds faithful just stood there scratching their heads as one could see for miles over Saddleworth Moor.

Bernardo Silva scored the opener against Everton, however, the Toffees equalised soon after to take both teams in level at the break.

With no further goals, both teams shared the points.

That didn’t tell the full story, with City being awarded a penalty early in the 2nd-half, giving Erling Haaland the chance to score.

Unfortunately for everyone in attendance at the Emptyhad, Erling’s tame spot-kick was easily saved by Jordan Pickford.

The Norwegian/Leeds Lad hasn’t scored in 4 games now so is due a goal, with the Fragile Foxes being the ideal opponents to get back on track.

The Chorley Hope offered up the following, regarding the current situation at the Etihad.

‘Pep Guardiola, who has lived a charmed life working at clubs that have had Semi-Built Squads and Millions to spend should be sacked given the dreadful record City are on.

Most Managers would be shown the door with a losing run like that.

Something is clearly not right in that dressing room.

One suspect’s Pep is burning out just like Jurgen Klopp did at Liverpool.

The job is relentless these days.

One would like to see what Pep would do at somewhere like Oakwell with little to no money and rely on loans and free agents and build a side capable of promotion to the Championship then Premier League.’

Man City sit in 7th place with the same 28 points as Fulham and Aston Villa.

Seventh!

A single Kevin De Bruyne goal, scored in the 2nd-half was the difference when Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester team last hosted Man City back in October 2022, giving City the away day victory by a 1-0 scoreline.

Betfred offer Leicester at 8/1, the Draw at 11/2 and Odds On 3/10 for Man City to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 9/4 that Erling Haaland Scores First and 23/10 that Jamie Vardy Scores Anytime.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

CRYSTAL PALACE v SOUTHAMPTON

15.00 in England

Crystal Palace gained a point from a draw by a 0-0 score against Bournemouth at Selhurst Park on Boxing Day.

It was clear to see that both teams had overindulged in the Turkey and Brussel Sprouts with neither wanting to score a goal.

The point gained, because it’s always a point gained, leaves Crystal Palace in 16th place with the same 17 points as Everton, however, the Eagles have played a game more (18) than the Toffees.

16,17,18.

Southampton themselves failed to score on Boxing Day in their fixture against West Ham at St Mary’s.

The only problem for the Saints was the Hammers scored a goal on the hour mark to inflict a defeat on Southampton by a 1-0 scoreline.

Ivan Juric took charge of his first game as the Southampton Manager and will need to stress to his players that to win a game of football, one needs to score a goal or two added to not conceding.

Southampton have only scored 1 goal in the last 5 Premier League games, so that is something Ivan needs to address.

Southampton remain at the foot of the Premier League Table with 6 points from the opening 18 games, now 9 points adrift of safety, which basically means the Saints will have to win at least 3 more games than the safe team, who are currently Wolves.

It was October 2022, when Crystal Palace last hosted Southampton in the Premier League at Selhurst Park.

A single Odsonne Edouard goal, scored in the 1st-half, gave Patrick Vieira’s Eagles the home win over Wreck-It Ralph Hasenhuttl’s Saints by a 1-0 scoreline.

Betfred offer Crystal Palace at slight Odds On 8/13, the Draw at 16/5 and 9/2 for Southampton to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 11/2 that Ismaila Sarr Scores First and 7/4 that Crystal Palace Win To Nil.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

EVERTON v NOTTINGHAM FOREST

15.00 in England

Everton put in a great shift against Man City at the Etihad on Thursday.

After conceding a City goal early on, the excellent Iliman Ndiaye scored a superb equaliser to make the scores level at the interval.

Vitali Mykolenko hacked down Savinho early in the 2nd-half, to give the home team a penalty, however, Jordan Pickford got his mate out of jail by saving a tame Erling Haaland spot kick.

With no further goals, Everton gained a point from a draw by a 1-1 score.

Iliman Ndiaye had a brilliant game throughout and may not be at Goodison Park much longer.

If one remembers, the Senegalese Striker was a Sheffield United player a couple of seasons ago but moved to Marseille when the Blunts were relegated back in 2023.

The lad wouldn’t look out of place in a Man City shirt, not that John Newsome is suggesting that Everton should sell.

Jarrad Branthwaite also had a great game and it was rumoured that the City Kit-man went into the away dressing room after the game looking for Erling Haaland, with Sean Dyche just pointing to Jarrad saying,

‘He’s in his pocket son!’

Everton sit in 15th place with the same 17 points as Crystal Palace, however, have only completed 17 fixtures due to the postponed game against Liverpool.

Nottingham Forest gained a brilliant victory over Tottenham at the City Ground on Thursday.

Anthony Elanga scored the only goal of the game midway through the 1st-half to give Nuno’s Tricky Trees the win from a 1-0 scoreline.

Tottenham did have a man sent off late on in proceedings with the ex-Forest player, Djed Spence receiving his 2nd Yellow Card and the subsequent Red to beat his mates into the showers.

Forest sit in 4th place with 34 points from the opening 18 games played.

Everton gained the home victory over Nottingham Forest in last season’s encounter between the two at Goodison Park.

Goals from Idrissa Gueye and Dwight McNeil gave the Toffees the victory by a 2-0 scoreline.

Betfred offer Everton at 13/8, the Draw at 9/4 and 15/8 for Nottingham Forest to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 5/1 that Chris Wood Scores First and 100/30 that Nottingham Forest Win To Nil.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

Away Win 0-2- Get 12/1 on Betfred & Claim your new account welcome offer!

FULHAM v BOURNEMOUTH

15.00 in England

Fulham stunned their West London rivals Chelsea in the Boxing Day fixture at Stamford Bridge.

After Chelsea had scored the opener in the 16th minute, it appeared that Enzo Maresca’s Blues were on for an easy victory.

That wasn’t the case, with 2nd-half goals from Harry Wilson and Rodrigo Muniz,
securing the away day victory for Fulham by a 2-1 scoreline.

Rodrigo scored the winner in the 95th minute.

The brilliant victory for the Cottagers, leaves Fulham in 8th place with the same 28 points as Aston Villa and Man City, all having completed 18 games.

Bournemouth gained a point from a draw by a 0-0 score in their Boxing Day clash against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

There isn’t really much else to say about that particular game other than,

Merry Christmas.

The point gained leaves Bournemouth in 6th place with the same 29 points as Newcastle and just a point between themselves and Fulham, so the winner today will sit higher in the Premier League Table going into 2025.

It was Fulham that claimed the victory when Bournemouth visited Craven Cottage last season.

Bobby De Cordova-Reid and Rodrigo Muniz scored in the 1st-half for Fulham to make the half-time Pie and Pint a pleasurable one for the home fans.

Marcos Senesi did score for Bournemouth just after the restart but Rodrigo added his 2nd and Fulham’s 3rd to give the Cottagers the win from a 3-1 scoreline.

Betfred offer Fulham at 11/8, the Draw at 11/4 and 15/8 for Bournemouth to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 17/2 that Harry Wilson Scores First and slight Odds On 4/6 that there are Over 2.5 Goals.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

Home Win 2-1- Get 8/1 on Betfred & Claim your new account welcome offer!

TOTTENHAM v WOLVES

15.00 in England

Tottenham suffered an away day defeat against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on Boxing Day.

A single Forest goal scored after half an hour was up on the clock, gave the home team the victory by a 1-0 scoreline.

To add to Tottenham’s misery, the ex-Forest player Djed Spence was shown a 2nd Yellow Card and the subsequent Red in the 94th minute to ultimately beat his mates into the Showers.

The lad must have had inside information about the hot water running out at the City Ground so wanted to get in there first.

That’s back-to-back defeats for Tottenham, heaping more pressure on Mr Personality Ange Postecoglou who is saying and doing his best to get sacked and head back to the warm weather of OzLand.

Tottenham sit in 12th place with the same 23 points as West Ham, both having completed 18 games.

Wolves gained a brilliant victory over Manchester United at Molineux on Boxing Day.

Goals from Matheus Cunha and Hwang Hee-Chan gave Vitor Pereira back-to-back wins at the start of his career as the Wolves Manager.

The victory against United from a 2-0 scoreline, at Odds of 22/1, was predicted in this EveryTip column that went out on Christmas Day.

Added to that, John Newsome offered up that Matheus Cunha would Score First (5/1) and that Wolves would Win To Nil (13/2) so it’s hoped some of the readers had a few quid on those tips and won some money to pay for this years Christmas, which gets more and more expensive as the years pass by.

Wolves moved out of the relegation zone up to 17th now with 15 points from the opening 18 games played so far.

The decision to get rid of Gary O’Neil appears to have been the right one.

That’s not to denigrate Gary as the lad is a good man, however, sometimes the voice becomes ‘White Noise’ and the players can just switch off, which it seems that the Wolves boys did.

The same could be happening at a number of clubs such as today’s opponents and the team playing at the Etihad.

‘White Noise’ who said that?

It was Wolves who gained the away day victory over Tottenham in last season’s fixture between the two at the Chas and Dave Memorial Stadium.

Joao Gomes scored the opener for Wolves to give the away team a lead at the break.

Dejan Kuluseveski scored for Tottenham just after the restart but Joao scored his and Wolves 2nd and with no further goals, Gary O’Neil’s Gold and Blacks got the points from Ange Postecoglou’s Spurs by a 2-1 scoreline.

Betfred offer Tottenham at Odds On 4/6, the Draw at 18/5 and 100/30 for Wolves to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 7/1 that Matheus Cunha Scores First and 9/4 that there are Under 2.5 Goals.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

WEST HAM v LIVERPOOL

17.15 in England

Sky Sports

West Ham got the better of Southampton at St Mary’s on Boxing Day.

A single Jarrod Bowen goal on the hour mark gave the Hammers the points from a 1-0 away day scoreline.

West Ham are now unbeaten in 4 since Julen Lopetegui took on Gary O’Neil in the Battle of the Under Pressure Manager.

Gary didn’t last much longer but Julen is still in a job and appears to be settling into the Hammers Hot Seat.

That said, it is the Premier League leaders that turn up today, so it’s back-to-back games against the Top and the Bottom.

The Hammers sit in 13th place with the same 23 points as Tottenham, both having completed 18 games.

Liverpool were stunned against Leicester in the Boxing Day clash at Anfield, with the Foxes scoring the first goal after 6 minutes.

It took the home team until the 1st minute of added-on injury time to get back on level terms with Coady Gakpo equalising on the stroke of half-time.

Liverpool came out stronger in the 2nd-half with Curtis Jones scoring just after the restart then Mo Salah getting his obligatory goal to give Liverpool the home win from a 3-1 scoreline.

Liverpool stay at the summit with 42 points from 17 games played, 6 points ahead of Arsenal who sit in 2nd.

That means Liverpool will be Top of the Premier League Table at the start of 2025, regardless of today’s results.

Both teams shared the points from a draw by a 2-2 score when Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool last visited the London Stadium to take on David Moyes’ West Ham.

Jarrod Bowen scored the opener to give the Hammers a lead at the break.

Andy Robertson equalised just after the restart before the West Ham Goalkeeper Alphonse Areola was credited with an Own Goal, to put Liverpool in front.

Michail Antonio scored an equalised for the home team and with no further goals, both teams gained a point apiece from the Archbishop’s favourite scoreline.

Betfred offer West Ham at 13/2, the Draw at 4/1 and Odds On 2/5 for Liverpool to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 5/1 that Coady Gakpo Scores First and slight Odds On 4/5 that Liverpool Score in Both Halves.

Monday 30th

ASTON VILLA v BRIGHTON

19.45 in England

Aston Villa were dealt a knockout blow on Boxing Day, with Unai Emery’s Claret and Blues suffering a devastating defeat by a 3-0 scoreline against Newcastle at St James Park.

The Wild Boy Jhon Duran, who has started the last 3 games in front of Ollie Watkins, was shown a controversial Red Card after 32 minutes leaving Villa a man-lite for over an hour.

Jhon will now miss the next 3 games.

That does mean that Ollie Watkins will be back in the starting lineup which could spark life into, not just himself but the whole Villa team, so don’t rule out a goal or two from Mr Watkins.

Aston Villa sit in 9th place with the same 28 points as Fulham and Man City.

Brighton played out a goalless draw against Brentford at the Amex on Friday.

The Seagulls are now winless from the last 6 games with 4 Draws and 2 Losses, meaning just 4 points from a possible 18.

Fabian Hurzeler’s great start to life in Brighton appears to have come to a halt.

Brighton sit in 10th place with 26 points from 18 games completed.

This fixture at Villa Park last season produced 7 goals and a devastating defeat for the visitors by a 6-1 scoreline.

The goals going in as follows,

14′ Ollie Watkins- (Villa 1-0)
21′ Ollie Watkins- (Villa 2-0
26′ Pervis Estupinan- Own Goal- (Villa 3-0)

Half-Time Hot Dog and Bovril.

50′ Ansu Fati- (Brighton (3-1)
65′ Ollie Watkins- (Villa 4-1)
85′ Jacob Ramsey- (Villa 5-1)
90+7′ Douglas Luiz- (Villa 6-1)

Full-Time Cous Cous and Chips.

Betfred offer Aston Villa at slight Odds On 19/20, the Draw at 11/4 and 11/4 for Brighton to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 4/1 that Ollie Watkins Scores First and 6/4 that Aston Villa Score in Both Halves.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

IPSWICH v CHELSEA

19.45 in England

Ipswich remain in 19th place with 12 points from 18 games played, following another defeat on Friday.

The game at the Emirates against Arsenal only produced 1 goal with the Gunners gaining the victory by a 1-0 scoreline.

That’s the 5th loss out of the last 6 games, leaving Kieran McKenna’s Tractor Boys in the relegation zone.

Chelsea suffered a surprise defeat against Fulham at Stamford Bridge on Boxing Day.

After Cole Palmer had scored in the 16th minute, it was assumed that the Blues would push on and gain a victory over their West London rivals, however, that wasn’t the case with Fulham scoring twice in the 2nd-half to gain the away day victory by a 2-1 scoreline.

Chelsea dropped a place now sitting in 3rd
with 35 points from the opening 18 games.

It was April 2002 when Chelsea last visited Portman Rd to take on Ipswich.

There wasn’t much to report on with both teams sharing the points from a draw by a 0-0 score.

There should be goals today.

Betfred offer Ipswich at 13/2, the Draw at 4/1 and Odds On 2/5 for Chelsea to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 9/2 that Nicolas Jackson Scores First and 13/8 that Chelsea Win To Nil.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

Away Win 0-2- Get 15/2 on Betfred & Claim your new account welcome offer!

MANCHESTER UNITED v NEWCASTLE

20.00 in England

Sky Sports

Manchester United suffered a Boxing Day defeat by a 2-0 scoreline against Wolves at Molineux, as predicted in this EveryTip column on Christmas Day.

Bruno Fernandes was shown 2 Yellow Cards and the subsequent Red, leaving United a man-lite for most of the 2nd-half.

To be fair to Bruno, the 2nd Yellow, early in the 2nd-half was a bit harsh but ultimately it means that the lad will be missing tonight.

That’s now 3 defeats in a row for United, 2 in the Premier League and 1 in the Carabao Cup, leaving Ruben’s Red Devils in 14th place (14th!) with 22 points from the opening 18 games played.

Whilst no one is suggesting that United are in a relegation battle at the moment, the 22 points are only 8 more than the teams in the Drop Zone.

Mr Amorim now knows the enormity of the situation at Old Trafford and needs some new players to help the team.

That said, is banishing Marcus Rashford from the squad the way forward?

Marcus has missed the last 4 games with United suffering defeats in 3 of those, granted the other one without Mr Rashford did produce a victory, however, that was only against Man City who everyone are beating at the moment.

Good luck Ruben!

Newcastle head to Old Trafford off the back of their 4th straight victory, 3 in the Premier League and 1 in the Carabao Cup.

The latest win was on Boxing Day against Aston Villa at St James Park.

Goals from Anthony Gordon, Alexander Isak and Joelinton gave Eddie’s Magpies the victory over Unai’s Claret and Blues by a 3-0 scoreline.

Granted, Newcastle did have a man advantage for over an hour following Jhon Duran’s straight Red Card after 32 minutes but in fairness to Eddie Howe’s team, the Magpies would probably have won against 11 men Villa.

Newcastle sit in 5th place with the same 29 points as Bournemouth, both having completed 18 games.

It was Erik Ten Hag’s Red Devils that gained the home victory over Eddie Howe’s Magpies in last season’s encounter between Manchester United and Newcastle at Old Trafford.

Kobbie Mainoo scored the opening goal to give United a lead at the interval.

Anthony Gordon equalised just after the restart which was quickly followed by an Amad Diallo goal to put United back in front.

Rasmus Hojlund added a 3rd late on, however, that wasn’t the end of the goals with Lewis Hall scoring a 2nd Newcastle goal in the 92nd minute.

Luckily for the home faithful, United held on for the win from a 3-2 scoreline.

Betfred offer Manchester United at 13/10, the Draw at 13/5 and 6/4 for Newcastle to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 4/1 that Alexander Isak Scores First and 2/1 that Newcastle Score in Both Halves.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

Wednesday 01st

BRENTFORD v ARSENAL

17.30

TNT Sport

Both these teams start the Premier League New Year off having both played on Friday, the day after Boxing Day.

Brentford played out a goalless draw against Brighton at the Amex, with not much else to be said about that post-Christmas game, other than it stopped the losing streak that has seen the Bees suffer a defeat in the previous 3 games, 2 in the Premier League and 1 in the Carabao Cup.

Despite suffering a defeat against Nottingham Forest in the previous fixture at the GTech, Brentford have been better at their home ground.

Brentford sit in 11th place with 24 points from 18 fixtures played.

Twenty-two of those points have been gained at the GTech.

Arsenal also had Boxing Day off and played against Ipswich at the Emirates on Friday Night.

A single Kai Havertz goal midway through the 1st-half gave Mikel Arteta’s Young Guns the victory over Kieran McKenna’s Tractor Boys by a 1-0 scoreline.

Although a win for Arsenal, which leaves the Gunners in 2nd place with 36 points from 18 games, it wasn’t the most impressive of performances.

Liverpool head into the New 2025 Year at the Top of the Premier League with 42 points, which is 6 more than Arsenal.

Added to that, the chasing pack have all completed 18 games, whereas Liverpool have played a game less due to the postponed fixture against Everton.

So Arsenal, Chelsea and the rest have it all to do to prevent Arne’s Slot Machines from becoming the 2024/25 Premier League Champions.

A single Kai Havertz goal scored in the 89th minute, gave Arsenal the away day victory over Brentford by a 1-0 scoreline in last season’s encounter between the two London Clubs at the GTech Stadium.

Betfred offer Brentford at 6/1, the Draw at 4/1 and Odds On 4/9 for Arsenal to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 10/1 that Bryan Mbeumo Scores First and 5/4 that there are Over 3.5 Goals.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

The Top of the Scottish Premier League now has a familiar look, with Celtic at the summit on 47 points from 17 games, now a massive 12 points in front of the Glasgow Rivals Rangers, who are in 2nd place with 35 points from 17 fixtures completed.

Aberdeen are in 3rd, a point adrift of Rangers after both teams chasing Celtic, suffered a Boxing Day loss.

Rangers suffered a defeat against St Mirren (who?) and Aberdeen lost their game against Kilmarnock (who?)

After a brilliant start to the campaign, Aberdeen have not won any of the last 7 games, suffering defeats in 3 and drawing the other 4, meaning 4 points from a possible 21.

Rangers were hoping to pull 4 points clear of the Dandy Dons, however, suffered a surprise defeat against St Mirren in the late kickoff on Boxing Day after Celtic and Aberdeen had played.

The massive gap at the Top of the Pub League between Celtic and Rangers means that Celtic would have to lose 4 games out of the 21 remaining and Rangers win all 21, which includes 3 fixtures between the two Glasgow Rivals, for the Green and White Hoops to lose the Title.

The SPL should just give Brendan Rodgers and his Celtic team the Trophy now and chalk this season off, to save everyone some time and money.

The first of the remaining 3 Old Firm Derby’s comes up on Thursday (the 2nd of January 2025), when Rangers host Celtic at Ibrox.

The loveable OzScot will be up early or stay up late for the Big Pub League Game that kicks off at 15.00 hours in Scotland which is around 2 AM over in Melbourne.

Braveheart should just stay in bed as whether he watches the game or not, the result will still more than likely be a Celtic victory.

‘He’s Celtic, United but Brendan has decided that Park Head is the best place to be!’

EveryTip and John Newsome want to wish all of the readers a Happy New Year and hope everyone continues to come back every day to enjoy this Unique Premier League Preview, find a few tips and earn a few quid.

Happy New Year!
