BOURNEMOUTH v BRENTFORD

19.30 in England

Bournemouth gained a point from a draw by a 1-1 score in a hard-fought game against Sunderland at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday.

After conceding a Sunderland goal and trailing at the break, Evanilson scored an equaliser in the 63rd minute and with no further goals, both teams got a point apiece.

Bournemouth sit in 10th place with 39 points from 28 games played.

Bournemouth get the weekend off after being knocked out of the FA Cup in the 3rd-Round.

Brentford played in a bizarre game against Burnley at Turf Moor on Saturday.

Goals from Mikkel Damsgaard, Igor Thiago and Kevin Schade gave the Bees a great lead going into 1st-half injury time.

Michael Kayode unexpectedly turned the ball into his own net just before the half-time whistle to gift Burnley a goal.

Burnley then scored 2 more before the hour mark to level the game and in the 78th minute, Brentford thought they had conceded a 4th but something the dreaded VAR ruled the goal out because the Burnley player’s shoulder was ahead of the Brentford Defender.

The Semi-Automated Offside is supposed to confirm an offside straight away and by rights it did, however, should a player be offside if his feet are behind the Defender but his shoulder is not?

In the 93rd minute, Mikkel Damsgaard scored his 2nd and Brentford’s 4th of the game to give the away team the victory by a 4-3 scoreline.

That score of 4-3 could have been changed when Burnley thought they had scored a 4th and an equaliser in the 98th minute but again the dreaded VAR got busy and decided that the Claret goal scorer had handled the ball.

There wasn’t any conclusive evidence to support that but the goal was ruled out and Brentford were the winners.

The win leaves Brentford in 7th place with 43 points from 28 games played and leaves the Bees faithful all filling in their Passport Applications with the possibility of a European adventure next season.

Brentford take on West Ham in the 5th-Round of the FA Cup, after this fixture against Bournemouth.

Brentford gained a brilliant home victory over Bournemouth at the GTech Stadium back in December.

A hat-trick from Kevin Schade and a goal credited to the Bournemouth Goalkeeper gave the Bees the win over the Cherries by a 4-1 scoreline.

Antoine Semenyo scored for Brentford when the score was 3-0.

Betfred offer Bournemouth at 11/8, the Draw at 11/4 and 7/4 for Brentford to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 5/1 that Evanilson Scores First and 11/10 that Igor Thiago Scores Anytime.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

EVERTON v BURNLEY

19.30 in England

Everton stunned Newcastle at St James Park on Saturday.

Following a few bad results at their New Hill Dickinson Home, Everton are now unbeaten in their last 6 away games, following the victory over Newcastle.

Jarrad Branthwaite and Beto scored the 1st-half goals to give the Toffees a lead at the break.

Newcastle did equalise Jarrad’s goal before Beto put the away team back in front.

Newcastle then scored another equaliser in the 82nd minute, however, the parity didn’t last long with Thierno Barry scoring a minute later to put Everton back in front for the 3rd time.

With no further goals, Everton got the away day win from a 3-2 scoreline.

Everton sit in 8th place with the same 40 points as Fulham, both having completed 28 games.

Depending on who wins what this year, there is the possibility that 7th place will qualify for the Europa Conference League, which David Moyes has won in his time with West Ham and will be hoping to get his set of Toffees in the mix for a European adventure next season.

As mentioned in the Bournemouth v Brentford preview above, Burnley played in a bizarre game against Brentford at Turf Moor on Saturday.

After conceding 3 goals, the home team got a slice of luck when a Brentford player scored an Own Goal just before the break to make the half-time cup of tea a little bit sweeter.

Goals from Jaidon Anthony and Zian Flemming scored before the hour mark, put the score level going into the final 30 minutes.

Burnley thought they had scored a 4th in the 78th minute, however, the dreaded VAR ruled that Jaidon Anthony had his shoulder in an offside position, before he swung in a cross, that Zian headed home.

Brentford then scored a legitimate 4th in the 93rd minute, which turned out to be the winner, however, there was still time for more VAR controversy when Ashley Barnes thought he had scored a very late equaliser.

The Stockley Park brigade somehow saw that Ashley had touched the ball with his arm and ruled the goal out.

It was harsh on Burnley who had fought back so well and certainly deserved something from the game.

However, that is football, which can be cruel at times.

Burnley remain in 19th place with 19 points from the 28 games played.

Both Everton and Burnley are out of the FA Cup so get the weekend off after this midweek clash.

It appeared that both teams had overindulged in Turkey over the Christmas period, with neither finding the back of the net at Turf Moor, resulting in a 0-0 scoreline and a point apiece for both.

Betfred offer Everton at slight Odds On 3/5, the Draw at 11/4 and 9/2 for Burnley to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 9/2 that Beto Scores First and 12/5 that Zian Flemming Scores Anytime.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

LEEDS UNITED v SUNDERLAND

19.30 in England

Leeds played well against Man City at the Etihad on Saturday, however, a single City goal on the stroke of half-time, saw the Whites suffer a defeat against the Blues by a 1-0 scoreline.

Daniel Farke wasn’t happy at the end and received a Red Card for arguing with anyone who was listening.

Apparently, there was a contentious handball decision that was supposedly missed by the officials (and for that matter, everyone else apart from Daniel).

The defeat leaves Leeds United in 15th place with 31 points from 28 games completed.

That’s 6 points away from the relegation zone which, with 10 games remaining, is a big gap.

Probably another 4 points will see Leeds safe from the drop.

The West Yorkshire Puddings all headed into Manchester to find a Spoons after the game, then it was back across the M62 singing their famous ditty,

Marching On Together.

Leeds take on Norwich in the 5th-Round of the FA Cup, in a tie being billed as the ‘Daniel Farke Derby’, due to Big Dan Managing both teams whilst in England.

All connected with Sunderland travelled a round trip of almost 700 miles that took 10 hours, to see the Black Cats gain a point following a draw against Bournemouth by a 1-1 scoreline.

Eliezer Mayender scored for Sunderland in the 1st-half to give the away team a lead at the break.

The Cherries did equalise just after the hour mark and with no further goals, Sunderland went back up the road with a well-earned point.

Sunderland sit in 12th place with the same 37 points as Brighton from 28 games completed.

Sunderland are also in 5th-Round FA Cup action being 1 of 11 Premier League teams still left in the competition and will face either Port Vale or Bristol City, whose tie takes place on the 3rd of March due to being postponed on the original date.

Both teams shared the points from a draw by a 1-1 score, in the Game Week-18 affair at the Stadium of Light.

Simon Adingra scored for Sunderland to give the home team a lead at the break.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored an equaliser just after the restart and with no further goals both gained a point apiece.

Betfred offer Leeds United at slight Odds On 10/11, the Draw at 5/2 and 3/1 for Sunderland to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 7/2 that Dominic Calvert-Lewin Scores First and 2/1 that Leeds United Win To Nil.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

WOLVES v LIVERPOOL

20.15 in England

This fixture is a prequel to the FA Cup 5th-Round clash that takes place on Friday the 6th, 3 days after this Premier League game.

Wolves stunned their fellow Midlands opponents Aston Villa on Friday Night Football, with the Gold and Blacks gaining a victory over the Claret and Blues at Molineux.

Goals from a couple of Gomes boys, Joao and Rodrigo (no relation) gave Rob Edwards men the win from a 2-0 scoreline.

In truth, it was hard to tell which team were 3rd in the table and who were sat at the bottom.

Wolves stay at the foot of the Premier League but now have 13 points which, although the Gold and Blacks will be relegated, does mean that Wolves won’t be the worst ever side in Premier League history, which is still Derby County from the 2007/08 campaign where the Rams only achieved 11 points.

Liverpool played in what could be described as the Game of the Weekend, against West Ham at Anfield on Saturday.

Arne’s New Slots got the victory over Nuno’s Hammers from a 5-2 scoreline, with the goals going in as follows-

5′ Hugo Ekitike- (Liverpool 1-0)
24′ Virgil Van Dijk- (Liverpool 2-0)
43′ Alexis Mac Allister- (Liverpool 3-0)

Half-Time Balti Pie and Chips.

49′ Tomas Soucek- (West Ham 3-1)
70′ Coady Gakpo- (Liverpool 4-1)
75′ Taty Castellanos- (West Ham 4-2)
82′ Axel Disasi- OG- (Liverpool 5-2)

Full-Time Pan of Scouse and a can of Coca-Cola.

The win from the 7-goal thriller, sees Liverpool swap places with Chelsea and sit 5th with 48 points from the 28 games played.

Liverpool’s last-16 Champions League opponents have been confirmed as Galatasaray, with the 1st-leg taking place in Turkey on the 10th of March and the 2nd-leg at Anfield on the 18th.

The two teams did play against each other in the Champions League-League Phase, with Galatasaray gaining a victory over Liverpool by a 1-0 scoreline.

That fixture was in Galatasaray’s Ali Sami Yen Stadium, now rebranded as Rams Park and took place when Liverpool were going through a tricky spell, so Arne’s Slots, despite the defeat, will fancy their chances over the 2-legs.

Along with the fixture against West Ham that took place on the 28th of February, Liverpool have 7 games between the 28th and the 21st of March.

Including a tie against today’s opponents in the FA Cup on Friday.

It’s the International Break then, with the Premier League reconvening on the 11th of April.

However, for those Premier League teams that are still in the FA Cup, there will be the Quarter-Finals over the weekend of the 4th of April.

As already mentioned, there are 11 of the 20 clubs still left in the FA Cup, with any one of Newcastle/Man City, West Ham/Brentford and Wolves/Liverpool unable to progress to the Quarter-Final.

Fulham, Arsenal, Sunderland, Chelsea and Leeds United, who all face lower league clubs, can make the Quarters, so there is the possibility that there will be 8 Premier League teams in the last-8 of the Elite English Cup Competition.

Basically, what that means is Liverpool, along with Arsenal, Chelsea, Man City and Newcastle, all have quite a few games in various competitions over the next month or so.

Tottenham are still in the Champions League but were knocked out of the FA Cup by Aston Villa in the 3rd-Round, so Igor Tudor and his Spurs side will have a weekend off, which could benefit them in the relegation battle.

What is great about the Champions League (there are a few things, despite folks’ negativity towards the competition) is that the last-16 teams all know their future opponents should they qualify for the Quarter-Finals.

Liverpool, if successful against Galatasaray, will face Paris Saint-Germain or Chelsea.

Ryan Gravenberch and Florian Wirtz scored the 1st-half goals at Anfield back in December to give Liverpool the win over Wolves by a 2-1 scoreline.

Santiago Bueno scored to halve the deficit, early in the 2nd-half, however, with no further goals, Liverpool hung on for the victory.

Betfred offer Wolves at 13/2, the Draw at 4/1 and Odds On 2/5 for Liverpool to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 3/1 that Hugo Ekitike Scores First and 11/8 that there are Over 3.5 Goals.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

Wednesday 04th

ASTON VILLA v CHELSEA

19.30 in England

Aston Villa suffered what could be called a surprise defeat against Wolves at Molineux on Friday Night Football.

The loss from a 2-0 scoreline meant that following Manchester United’s win over Crystal Palace on Sunday, Villa swap places with United and now sit in 4th with 51 points from 28 games played.

United also have 51 points but have a slightly better goal difference.

Aston Villa will face Lille in the last-16 of the Europa League, with the 1st-leg taking place in France on the 12th of March and the return leg at Villa Park a week later on the 19th.

Villa will then take on Bologna or AS Roma in the Quarter-Final, if Unai’s team are successful against Lille.

Looking to the future, there is the possibility of an all-English Semi-Final against Nottingham Forest, if both teams progress to that stage.

Aston Villa will have next weekend off due to being knocked out of the FA Cup in Round-4, which is good preparation for the Europa League tie.

Chelsea suffered a defeat against Arsenal at the Emirates on Sunday.

That was the 3rd defeat in a row against the Gunners, following the 2-legged Carabao Cup Semi-Final, which saw Arsenal win both legs.

Following Arsenal’s opener, from a messy corner situation, Chelsea benefited from an Arsenal player scoring an Own Goal, from another messy corner situation.

Arsenal then scored the winner, again from a messy corner situation, to inflict the defeat on Chelsea from a 2-1 scoreline.

Chelsea dropped to 6th in the table, with 45 points from 28 games played.

Chelsea’s Champions League last-16 opponents are Paris Saint-Germain who will want revenge for last year’s World Club Cup defeat against the Blues in the Final.

The 1st-leg takes place in France on the 11th, with the return leg at Stamford Bridge just under a week later, on the 17th.

Maybe Aston Villa and Chelsea can share the same Ryanair experience over to France.

Chelsea could potentially face Liverpool in the Quarter-Final, if both teams are successful.

Chelsea take on Wrexham in the 5th-Round of the FA Cup.

Aston Villa got the post-Christmas present of 3-points following the victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge back in late December.

Joao Pedro scored the opener to give Chelsea a lead at the break, however, 2-goals from Ollie Watkins gave Villa the away-day win from a 2-1 scoreline.

Betfred offer Aston Villa at 13/8, the Draw at 11/4 and 7/5 for Chelsea to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 11/2 that Cole Palmer Scores First and 13/8 that Ollie Watkins Scores Anytime.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

BRIGHTON v ARSENAL

19.30 in England

After 6 winless Premier League games, Brighton have won their last 2, with the latest being a victory over Nottingham Forest at the Amex on Sunday.

Diego Gomez scored the opener after 6 minutes to give Brighton an early lead.

Forest scored an equaliser 7 minutes later, however, Brighton went straight up the other end and scored a 2nd through Danny Welbeck.

So with 15 minutes on the clock and 3 goals already, surely there would be more to come, however, that wasn’t the case with both teams failing to score in the 75 minutes remaining, leaving Brighton with the home win from a 2-1 scoreline.

The victory sees Brighton move up to 11th place with the same 37 points as Sunderland from the 28 games played.

The Seagulls get the weekend off after being knocked out of the FA Cup in the last round.

Arsenal gained a home win over Chelsea on Sunday, to remain at the summit of the Premier League with 64 points, still a gap of 5 points between themselves and Man City.

The Gunners were made to work for the victory with all 3 goals coming from messy corner situations.

William Saliba got his head onto the first corner, swung in by Declan Rice.

Chelsea then forced Piero Hincapie
into heading into his own net to make the score level at the break.

Jurren Timber got on the end of another Declan Rice corner to score Arsenal’s 2nd in the 66th minute.

Chelsea were then reduced to 10 men, leaving Arsenal with an extra man for the remaining 20 minutes.

Despite Chelsea having a man-lite, the Blues still put in a shift and were unlucky not to get an equaliser.

However, the 2 goals from the messy corner situation, gave Arsenal the victory over Chelsea by a 2-1 score.

What that basically means is, Arsenal are going to change their name to ‘Corner Kick FC’!

Obviously, that’s just a bit of fun but Arsenal are causing havoc when awarded a corner or when a corner is awarded against them.

So probably the moral when playing against the Gunners is,

‘Don’t concede a corner!’

Arsenal face Bayer Leverkusen in the last-16 of the Champions League with the 1st-leg taking place in Germany on the 11th of March and the return leg, less than a week later on the 17th.

Like most of the Top Teams going for glory in a number of competitions, Arsenal will play 7 times between the 1st of March and the 22nd.

Three Premier League games, one FA Cup tie (against Mansfield), two Champions League fixtures plus the Final of the Carabao Cup.

Arsenal’s Quarter-Final opponents (if successful against Bayer Leverkusen) will be either Bodo/Glimt or Sporting Lisbon.

Arsenal gained the home win over Brighton in the Game Week-18 encounter at the Emirates.

Martin Odegaard scored the opener to give the Gunners a lead at the break.

Georginio Rutter was credited with Arsenal’s 2nd after turning in a Declan Rice corner.

(Don’t concede a corner!)

Diego Gomez scored for Brighton to halve the deficit, however, the Gunners held on for the victory over the Seagulls from a 2-1 scoreline.

Betfred offer Brighton at 9/2, the Draw at 3/1 and Odds On 8/13 for Arsenal to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 11/2 that Bukayo Saka Scores First and 5/2 that Danny Welbeck Scores Anytime.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

Away Win 1-2- Get 7/1 on Betfred & Claim your new account welcome offer!

FULHAM v WEST HAM

19.30 in England

Fulham gained a professional home win over Tottenham at Craven Cottage on Sunday.

Goals from Harry Wilson and Alex Iwobi, gave Marco Silva’s Cottagers the victory over Igor Tudor’s Spurs by a 2-1 score.

Tottenham did score in the 2nd-half to halve the deficit but Fulham held on for all 3 points.

Fulham sit in 9th place with the same 40 points as Everton, both having completed 28 games.

The Cottagers take on the Saints (Southampton) in the 5th-Round of the FA Cup after this fixture against the Hammers.

West Ham were on the wrong end of a 7-goal thriller on Saturday, suffering an away defeat against Liverpool at Anfield by a 5-2 scoreline.

The goals going in as follows-

5′ Hugo Ekitike- (Liverpool 1-0)
24′ Virgil Van Dijk- (Liverpool 2-0)
43′ Alexis Mac Allister- (Liverpool 3-0)

Half-Time- Hot Dog and Vimto.

49′ Tomas Soucek- (West Ham 3-1)
70′ Coady Gakpo- (Liverpool 4-1)
75′ Taty Castellanos)-(West Ham 4-2)
82′ Axel Disasi- OG- (Liverpool 5-2)

Full-Time- Big Mac and Fries.

Probably the only positive to take from the loss is that the other teams around the Hammers also suffered defeats, so no real damage was done.

West Ham stay in 18th place with 25 points from 28 games played.

West Ham are also in FA Cup action after this fixture, playing in an all-London tie against Brentford.

A single Raul Jimenez goal, scored in the 85th minute, gave Fulham the away-day victory over West Ham by a 1-0 score, when the two met at the London Stadium just after Christmas.

Betfred offer Fulham at 21/20, the Draw at 13/5 and 12/5 for West Ham to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 5/1 that Harry Wilson Scores First and 15/8 that Fulham Score in Both Halves.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

Home Win 2-1- Get 15/2 on Betfred & Claim your new account welcome offer!

MAN CITY v NOTTINGHAM FOREST

19.30 in England

Man City gained a victory over Leeds United at the Etihad on Saturday.

What probably was the surprise on the night was that Antoine Semenyo’s goal on the stroke of half-time was the only goal of the game, giving Pep’s High Flying Blues the victory over Daniel’s Whites by a 1-0 scoreline.

That temporarily reduced the gap between themselves and Arsenal to 2 points, however, it’s now back to 5 points following Arsenal’s win on Sunday.

Man City sit 2nd with 59 points.

Both play at the same time in these midweek fixtures which will probably mean the 5-point gap remains.

Erling Haaland was missing from the squad that played against Leeds, however, rumours that the lad didn’t want to play against his hometown club, were strenuously denied.

Man City have been drawn against Real Madrid in the last-16 of the Champions League, which will be the 5th time in a row the two Giants of Football have met.

2021/22- Real Madrid beat Man City in the Semi-Final.

2022/23- Man City beat Real Madrid in the Semi-Final.

2023/24- Real Madrid beat Man City in the Quarter-Final.

2024/25- Real Madrid beat Man City in the Playoffs.

2025/26- Both meet in the last-16.

Like Arsenal, Man City have 7 games from the 28th of February to the 22nd of March.

Three Premier League games, one FA Cup tie (against Newcastle), two Champions League fixtures plus the Final of the Carabao Cup.

Man City or Real Madrid will face Atalanta or Bayern Munich in the Quarter-Finals.

Nottingham Forest suffered a narrow defeat against Brighton at the Amex on Sunday.

After conceding an early goal, Morgan Gibbs-White scored an equaliser in the 13th minute.

Unfortunately, for the Tricky Tree faithful, Brighton immediately scored a 2nd, which ultimately proved to be the winner, leaving Vitor Pereira’s Forest with a loss from a 2-1 scoreline.

Forest sit in 17th place with 27 points from 28 games played, still 2 points above the relegation zone.

Nottingham Forest have progressed to the last-16 of the Europa League and will take on the Danish Team Midtjylland, with the 1st-leg taking place in Denmark on the 12th of March and the return leg at the City Ground a week later, on the 19th.

Forest’s Quarter-Final opponents (if progression is achieved) will be against Stuttgart or FC Porto.

Just to reiterate from earlier, Nottingham Forest could potentially meet Aston Villa in the Semi-Final, if both teams are successful in the upcoming games.

Forest have been knocked out of the FA Cup, so will get a rest after this game against City, which will help Vitor prepare his men for the Europa League tie.

Man City struggled against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground after Christmas, however, Pep’s Blues eventually got the away day victory over Sean’s Tricky Trees by a 2-1 scoreline.

After a goalless 1st-half, Tijjani Reijnders scored the opener for City, just after the restart, which was quickly equalised by Omari Hutchinson.

It was then left to Rayan Cherki to score what turned out to be the winner in the 83rd minute, to give Man City all 3-points.

Betfred offer Man City at Odds On 2/5, the Draw at 4/1 and 13/2 for Nottingham Forest to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 2/1 that Erling Haaland Scores First and 11/8 that there are Over 3.5 Goals.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

NEWCASTLE v MANCHESTER UNITED

20.15 in England

Newcastle suffered a 5th Premier League defeat from the last 6, following Saturday’s loss against Everton at St James Park.

Three of those 5 have come at St James Park, which considering tonight’s game against Manchester United is at home, doesn’t bode well for the Magpies and their Toon Army.

Saturday’s game against Everton saw goals from Jacob Ramsey and Jacob Murphy, equalise twice after the Toffees had scored, however, Everton scored a 3rd and an ultimate winner to inflict the defeat on Newcastle from a 3-2 scoreline.

The defeat leaves Newcastle in 13th place with 36 points from 28 games played.

Newcastle are still in the FA Cup and take on Man City in the 5th-Round over the weekend.

Newcastle face Barcelona in their last-16 Champions League encounter, however, what is different about this clash from the other English teams, is that Newcastle play at home first on the 10th of March, with the away leg on the 18th at the Nou Camp.

The rest of the English teams, play away first due to finishing in the Top 8 of the Champions League-League Phase.

Super Michael Carrick is now unbeaten in the last 7 games that the legend has overseen, following Sunday’s win over Crystal Palace at Old Trafford.

After conceding a Palace goal, United were awarded a penalty after a foul on Matheus Cunha.

The penalty, also resulted in the Palace Defender Maxence Lacroix being sent off due to denying a goal-scoring opportunity.

Bruno Fernandes converted to level the score, before that man Benjamin Sesko scored the winner in the 65th minute to give United the victory from a 2-1 scoreline.

That was Big Ben’s 8th goal of the season.

Although Super Michael Carrick has done brilliantly since taking over as Interim Manager (and he has) United are now unbeaten in the last 11 Premier League games with 3 draws and a win in the previous 4 before Michael turned up.

Rubin Amorim’s last 3 games were unbeaten, with a win and 2 draws.

It was then Darren Fletcher who took over for 1 Premier League game that was also a draw.

Probably what went against Darren, was the loss in the FA Cup against Brighton, which didn’t do his prospects of being the Boss on a full-time basis any good.

Obviously, that loss against the Seagulls gives United the weekend off after this tough game against Newcastle.

Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United got a rare win when Newcastle turned up at Old Trafford just after Christmas.

Patrick Dorgu scored the only goal of the game in the 1st-half to give Ruben’s Red Devils the victory over Eddie’s Magpies by a 1-0 scoreline.

Betfred offer Newcastle at 6/4, the Draw at 11/4 and 8/5 for Manchester United to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 11/2 that Benjamin Sesko Scores First and 2/1 that Manchester United Score in Both Halves.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

Thursday 05th

TOTTENHAM v CRYSTAL PALACE

20.00 in England

It’s fair to say that Tottenham are struggling.

After sacking Thomas Frank, the hierarchy have brought in Igor Tudor to oversee the remainder of the season.

Igor’s first game was against Arsenal, so one could excuse the defeat against the Gunners.

It was then a fixture against Fulham at Craven Cottage, which saw another defeat, this time by a 2-1 scoreline.

Richarlison did score a consolation goal after Tottenham had conceded twice but time ran out, leaving IT with his second defeat in a row.

There’s always talk about an established Premier League team being ‘too good to be relegated’ however, Tottenham, have been dragged into the relegation battle, now sitting in 16th place with 29 points from 28 games played.

That’s just 4 points ahead of West Ham who are sitting in the final relegation position.

Are Tottenham ‘too good to go down’?

Maybe one can also ask,

Are West Ham ‘too good to go down’?

The simple answer is ‘no’ both teams, along with Nottingham Forest, Burnley and Wolves, are not ‘too good to go down’ and are in the position they are, because they have not been good enough.

Only time will tell whether Tottenham are relegated but Information Technology Man, Igor Tudor needs to get his players winning again, starting tonight against Crystal Palace, who sit 2 places above in 14th with 6 points more than Tottenham.

Tottenham’s last-16 Champions League opponents are Atletico Madrid, with Tottenham travelling to Spain’s Capital on the 10th of March and the return leg in London on the 17th of March.

Tottenham can set up a Quarter-Final tie against Newcastle or Barcelona, if successful against Atletico.

There’s a weekend off after this game due to Tottenham being knocked out of the FA Cup in the 3rd-Round.

Crystal Palace are themselves struggling at the moment and suffered another defeat on Sunday, this time against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

The Big Defender Maxence Lacroix had an eventful 56 minutes, firstly scoring the opener to give Palace a lead at the break, then hauling down Matheus Cunha to not only concede a penalty but also be shown a straight Red Card for ‘denying a goal-scoring opportunity’.

The loss of the Defender proved significant with United eventually scoring the winner in the 65th minute, to inflict the defeat on Palace from a 2-1 scoreline.

There’s a weekend off due to Crystal Palace being knocked out of the FA Cup in the 3rd-Round.

Crystal Palace’s European adventure continues, with the Eagles drawn against AEK Larnaca for the last-16 tie.

Palace play at Selhurst Park on the 12th of March, with the away leg in Cyprus, a week later on the 19th.

If anything, regardless of the result, it will be a nice few days in the Spring Sun for the Eagle Ultras who make the trip over to Larnaca.

(That said, there’s a bit of trouble over in the Middle East at the moment so it is possible, depending on what happens over the next couple of weeks, that a few games over that neck of the woods will be postponed or moved to somewhere safer!)

If successful, Palace will then face either the Italian club Fiorentina, or the Polish team Rakow in the Quarter-Final.

Archie Gray scored in the 1st-half to give Tottenham a lead at the break when these two Londoners met at Selhurst Park in late December.

With no further goals, Thomas Frank’s Tottenham got a victory over Oliver Glasner’s Palace from a 1-0 scoreline.

Betfred offer Tottenham at 13/10, the Draw at 5/2 and 2/1 for Crystal Palace to come away with all 3-points.
