Game Week-26

Thursday 02nd

This is a rearranged fixture to complete the Game Week-26 set of matches.

CHELSEA v TOTTENHAM

19.30 in England

Sky Sports

Chelsea came from 2 goals down against Aston Villa on Saturday, to gain a point from a draw by a 2-2 score.

The unfortunate Marc Cucurella deflected the ball into his own net to concede the opener before Villa scored a 2nd to lead at the break.

Noni Madueke and Conor Gallagher scored the Blues goals in the 2nd-half to give both teams a share of the points.

Chelsea remain in 9th place but now have 48 points from 33 games, with West Ham in 8th, a point ahead of the Blues but have played 2 games more.

As it stands,

Tottenham- played 33, points 60
Manchester United- played 34, points 54
Newcastle- played 34, points 53
West Ham- played 35, points 49
Chelsea- played 33, points 48
Bournemouth- played 35, points 48

It’s worth throwing Bournemouth into that little set of 6 who are all competing for a European Place, below the Top Four.

Chelsea v Tottenham
Chelsea v West Ham
Nottingham Forest v Chelsea
Brighton v Chelsea
Chelsea v Bournemouth

Tottenham suffered a defeat against Arsenal in the North London Derby on Sunday, with Arsenal eventually getting the victory by a 3-2 scoreline.

After conceding 3 goals, 1 being a disastrous headed own goal from Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, to trail at half-time, Tottenham scored twice late on to give the LilyWhite faithful something to hang on to.

Cristian Romero scored along with a converted penalty by Son-Heung Min giving hopes of a comeback.

Unfortunately for Tottenham, time ran out and it was ultimately a defeat that has put a big dent in their Champions League hopes.

As shown above, Tottenham sit 5th in the table with 60 points from 33 games played.

That’s 7 points adrift of Aston Villa in 4th, however, Villa have played 2 fixtures more than Spurs.

It probably means that it’s the Europa League for Ange Postecoglou and his boys, rather than the Champions League, however, the faithful will still be happy that their Passport is needed.

Remaining fixtures-

Chelsea v Tottenham
Liverpool v Tottenham
Tottenham v Burnley
Tottenham v Man City
Sheffield United v Tottenham

If one remembers, the reverse fixture at the Chas and Dave Memorial Stadium was a bit of an anomaly and without checking can anyone guess the outcome?

Well, all was going well for Tottenham after Dejan Kulusevski scored the opener in the 6th minute.

Son Heung-Min then had a goal disallowed by the dreaded VAR which was the first of 4 that the Stockley Park brigade chalked off.

As mentioned, all was going well for the home team, right up until the 33rd minute when the events of the evening suddenly changed.

Cristian Romero was shown a straight Red Card leaving Tottenham a man lite for over an hour.

Ange Postecoglou sent on Erik Dier, who had not played for a while, to replace Cristian whose indiscretion had resulted in a penalty to Chelsea which was converted by Cole Palmer.

That wasn’t the end of the 1st-half action as on the stroke of half-time, both Mickey Van De Ven and James Maddison had to come off due to injury.

Just after the restart, Destiny Udogie was shown a 2nd Yellow Card and the subsequent Red to join his mate Cristian Romero in the Dressing Room, leaving Tottenham with 9 men for 40 minutes or so.

Chelsea eventually and one says eventually, as it did take over 20 minutes to work out how to beat Tottenham’s 9 man High-line, finally took control with Nicolas Jackson scoring a hat-trick to give the Blues the victory by a 4-1 away night scoreline.

Betfred offer Chelsea at 11/10, the draw at 11/4 and 7/4 for Tottenham to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 7/2 that Cole Palmer Scores First and Odds On 8/11 that there are Over 3.5 Goals.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

Game Week-36

These fixtures are the reverse of Game Week-2 and Game Week-7 that took place in August and September 2023.

Friday 03rd

LUTON v EVERTON

20.00 in England

Sky Sports

Luton suffered their 3rd straight defeat on Saturday, this time against Wolves at Molineux by a 2-1 score.

Carlton Morris scored a late goal when Wolves had 2 on the board but unfortunately for the travelling Hatters, time ran out leaving Luton on the brink of relegation.

Luton sit in 18th place with 25 points from 35 games completed.

Granted that is only a point adrift of Nottingham Forest, so still time to get out of trouble, however, look at the remaining fixtures, they do appear to be pretty tough.

Forest’s remaining games are against Sheffield United, Chelsea and Burnley, two of the three teams in the drop zone.

That said, Luton have 2 games at Kenilworth Rd, whereas Nottingham Forest are on their travels for 2 of their remaining 3.

Added to that, Nottingham Forest have appealed against their points deduction (4) with the outcome likely to be decided this week.

Whatever happens, at least it will be an exciting end to the season for Burnley, Luton and Nottingham Forest.

Remaining fixtures-

Luton v Everton
West Ham v Luton
Luton v Fulham

The Scousers have a nice little trip down South on a Friday Afternoon, navigating the M6 that will probably take around 5 hours in the traffic, for this important Evening fixture.

Added to that, it’s the Bank Holiday Weekend so the Toffees say,

‘Cheers Premier League Fixture Compilers!’

Everton confirmed their safety and stay in the Premier League for another season, following Saturday’s victory against Brentford at Goodison Park.

Idrissa Gueye with the only goal of the game scored on the hour mark giving the Toffees the points from a 1-0 scoreline.

That elevated Everton above Brentford in the table, up to 15th with 36 points from 35 games played.

Luton can only achieve 34 points so Sean Dyche’s men have staved off relegation, even after having 8 points deducted.

Remaining fixtures-

Luton v Everton
Everton v Sheffield United
Arsenal v Everton

At Goodison Park for the Game Week-7 affair, Luton gained the away day victory over Everton by a 2-1 score.

Tom Lockyer and Carlton Morris with the Hatters goals followed by Dominic Calvert-Lewin replying for the Toffees, all scored before the half-time cup of tea.

Betfred offer Luton at 6/4, the draw at 23/10 and 6/4 for Everton to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 6/4 that Carlton Morris Scores Anytime and 15/8 that Dominic Calvert-Lewin Scores Anytime.

Saturday 04th

ARSENAL v BOURNEMOUTH

12.30 in England

TNT Sport

Arsenal again play before Man City in this early Saturday Afternoon fixture.

This can work in two ways, depending on the result.

If Arsenal gain the victory, like last week against Tottenham, then it puts pressure on Man City who go second again, kicking off later at 17.30.

That said, the reverse can happen if Arsenal suffer a defeat, it gives Man City an added incentive to get the win to overhaul the Gunners at the Top of the League.

Arsenal scored 3 goals at the Chas and Dave Memorial Stadium to give the Gunners a comfortable lead at the break.

In truth it wasn’t a convincing display, it was probably the Set Piece Coach that earned Arsenal the lead.

The first goal was credited to Tottenham’s Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg who headed past his own Goalkeeper from a corner.

Bukayo Saka then scored on the break, following a Tottenham corner with Kai Havertz adding a 3rd, again from another corner.

Tottenham did have a goal ruled out by the dreaded VAR, with a player judged millimetres offside.

Arsenal then conceded 2 late goals meaning a nervy last few minutes for the Gooners in attendance but time ran out for the home team, leaving Arsenal with the victory from a narrow 3-2 scoreline.

Mikel’s Young Gund remain at the summit of the Premier League with 80 points from 35 games played.

That is a point above Man City but Arsenal have played a game more so even if the Gunners win their remaining 3 games, it still may not be enough to win the Premier League Title.

If one looks at the games left, Manchester United might just have a say in denying Arsenal the crown, however, saying that, would United want to help the Noisy Neighbours?

Remaining fixtures-

Arsenal v Bournemouth
Manchester United v Arsenal
Arsenal v Everton

Bournemouth gained a great victory over Brighton at the Vitality on Sunday with the Cherries inflicting a defeat on the Seagulls by a 3-0 scoreline.

Marcos Senesi, Enes Unal and Justin Kluivert with the goals, leaving Bournemouth in 10th place with the same 48 points as Chelsea but have played 35 times, which is 2 more than the Blues.

It’s unlikely that Bournemouth can achieve a European place but not impossible so it will still be an exciting end to the season for the Cherry-ade’s.

Remaining fixtures-

Arsenal v Bournemouth
Bournemouth v Brentford
Chelsea v Bournemouth

Arsenal smashed Bournemouth at the Vitality with goals from Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard, Kai Havertz and Ben White giving the Gunners the points from a 4-0 scoreline.

Betfred offer Arsenal at Odds On 1/6, the draw at 11/2 and 10/1 for Bournemouth to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 18/5 that Declan Rice Scores Anytime and 11/10 that Arsenal Win To Nil.

BRENTFORD v FULHAM

15.00 in England

Brentford suffered a defeat against Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday with the home team gaining the victory by a 1-0 scoreline.

That result dropped the Bees below the Toffees down to 16th place with 35 points from 35 games played.

Brentford cannot be relegated so it could be a case of the Bees being on the beach for the remainder of the campaign and there’s nothing more annoying than Bees buzzing around one’s ice cream.

Remaining fixtures-

Brentford v Fulham
Bournemouth v Brentford
Brentford v Newcastle

Fulham gained a point from a draw by a 1-1 score against Crystal Palace on Saturday.

After a goalless 1st-half, Rodrigo Muniz scored to give the Cottagers a lead.

Unfortunately, Marco Silva’s boys couldn’t hold on for the victory and conceded a late equaliser to ultimately share the points with their London counterparts.

Fulham sit in 13th place with 43 points from 35 fixtures completed.

Like most of the teams around 11th to 16th, there’s no threat of relegation but no chance of earning a European place, so it’s just a matter of playing the season out and seeing whether there are any youngsters thrown in or which players have their flip flops on.

Remaining fixtures-

Brentford v Fulham
Fulham v Man City
Luton v Fulham

Brentford gained the away day victory over Fulham at Craven Cottage back in the Game Week-2 encounter.

Yoane Wissa scored in the 1st-half, added with a couple of Bryan Mbeumo goals after the break to give the Bees the points from a 3-0 score.

Betfred offer Brentford at 21/20, the draw at 12/5 and 21/10 for Fulham to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 7/2 that Ivan Toney Scores First and 13/8 that Brentford Score in Both Halves.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

Home Win 2-1- Get 8/1 on Betfred & Claim your new account welcome offer!

BURNLEY v NEWCASTLE

15.00 in England

Burnley gained a brilliant point from a draw by a 1-1 score against a poor Manchester United team at Old Trafford on Saturday.

After almost 80 minutes were up on the clock, without a goal to either team, Burnley conceded a United opener.

Then a moment of madness from Andre Onana allowed the Clarets to equalise.

Andre barged into a group of players and after the dreaded VAR got involved, Burnley were awarded a penalty.

Zeki Amdouni converted and with no further goals, both teams gained a point apiece.

Burnley remain in 18th place with 24 points from 35 games played, however, are still within touching distance of safety, just 2 points behind Nottingham Forest who are the only team that can be caught.

Because Sheffield United have been relegated already, it means that it’s now between, Burnley, Luton and Nottingham Forest as to which others are heading back to the Championship.

Nottingham Forest- played 35, points 26,
goals scored 42 and conceded 62 (minus-20)

Luton- played 35, points 25, goals scored 48 and conceded 77 (minus-29)

Burnley- played 35, points 24, scored 38 and conceded 70 (minus-32)

The final game of the campaign could be the decider.

Remaining fixtures-

Burnley v Newcastle
Tottenham v Burnley
Burnley v Nottingham Forest

Despite conceding an early goal against Sheffield United on Saturday, Newcastle gained a comfortable victory by a 5-1 scoreline at St James Park.

Alexander Isak scored twice, added to a Bruno Guimaraes goal, a Sheffield United own goal and a Callum Wilson strike to give Eddie’s Magpies all 3-points and an aggregate victory over the By-Hecks and Chrissys Blades by a 13-1 score.

Magpies can be considered unlucky, they certainly are for the Blades.

One for sorrow, 13 for 6 points.

Newcastle sit in 7th place with 53 points, a point adrift of Manchester United, both having completed 34 games.

If one looks at the games left, Newcastle have to go to Old Trafford and face United which could be a decider as to who plays in the Europa League and who plays in the Europa Conference League.

Remaining fixtures-

Burnley v Newcastle
Newcastle v Brighton
Manchester United v Newcastle
Brentford v Newcastle

Miguel Almiron and an Alexander Isak converted penalty gave Newcastle the victory over Burnley by a 2-0 score at St James Park back in September.

Betfred offer Burnley at 9/4, the draw at 13/5 and slight Odds On 10/11 for Newcastle to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 4/1 that Alexander Isak Scores First and 6/5 that there are Over 3.5 Goals.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

SHEFFIELD UNITED v NOTTINGHAM FOREST

15.00 in England

As mentioned in previous columns, the first 6 words at the start of a Blunts’ preview can just be copied and pasted, then add the day, opponent and venue.

Sheffield United suffered another defeat on (insert day) Saturday, this time against (insert opponents) Newcastle at (insert venue) St James Park.

The Blades did actually score first with Anel Ahmedhodzic putting the away team in front after 5 minutes.

That just poked the bear (or the Magpie) who then scored 5 to inflict the defeat on Sheffield United by a 5-1 scoreline.

The devastating defeat, which means an aggregate score of 13-1 against Newcastle this season, confirmed Sheffield United’s relegation to the Championship.

In truth the relegation was inevitable, it was just a matter of when not if.

The Blades sit sorrowful at the bottom of the Premier League Table with 16 points from 35 games played and now have achieved an unwanted record of conceding the most goals, already 97, in a 38-game season, with 3 fixtures remaining.

Surely the 100 mark will be reached.

Swindon Town (who?)

Yes, Swindon, who are now a League Two side (Division 4 in old money!) conceded 100 goals in the Premier League back in the 1993/94 campaign, however, that was in a 42-game season with 22 teams in the league at the time.

Coincidentally, Sheffield United were relegated along with Swindon and Oldham in that particular year.

Oldham are now a non-league club plying their trade in the National League which is Tier 5 of the English Football Pyramid.

Be very careful Blunts!

That might be where the Blades end up.

Remaining fixtures-

Sheffield United v Nottingham Forest
Everton v Sheffield United
Sheffield United v Tottenham

James from Swinton, nowhere near Bramall Lane was in attendance at St James Park to witness first-hand the destruction by the Magpies.

To be fair to Little Jimbo the lad is philosophical about the drop and went off into the Newcastle City Centre to drown his sorrows on Fruit Kopparberg (Apple and Raspberry flavour) and join in the relegation party.

James was constantly checking the inside pocket of his Wrangler Denim Jacket making sure the Passport was still there.

The other Blunts had told him that the said document wasn’t needed to get into St James Park but Jimbo wasn’t taking any chances after being refused entry into Goodison Park and Selhurst Park, thinking that anywhere with a Park at the end, had to have a Passport to get in.

One of Jim’s mates on the Relegation Jolly asked the Little Blunt why Newcastle Broon Ale was called Newcastle Broon Ale.

James replied smartly,

‘Because it’s made in Newcastle, it’s Ale and it’s Brown but the locals say Broon!’

‘Cheers Jim, another Kopparberg?’

It could mean that James gets the opportunity to wear his half-and-half jersey next season if his first footballing love gains promotion to the Championship.

Not many know that Little Jim was a Barnsley fan first but switched allegiance to the Blades at an early age.

Barnsley have made the League One playoffs and face Bolton in a 2 legged Semi-Final for a chance to get to Wembley and back to Division 2.

Nottingham Forest suffered the expected defeat against Man City on Sunday.

Forest did play well and did have chances against City but ultimately conceded twice to suffer the loss by a 2-0 score.

That leaves Nuno’s Tricky Trees in 17th place with 26 points from 35 games played.

The following was put in the Burnley v Newcastle preview above but is worth adding again.

Because Sheffield United have been already relegated, it means that it’s now between, Burnley, Luton and Nottingham Forest as to which others are heading back to the Championship.

Nottingham Forest- played 35, points 26,
goals scored 42 and conceded 62 (minus-20)

Luton- played 35, points 25, goals scored 48 and conceded 77 (minus-29)

Burnley- played 35, points 24, scored 38 and conceded 70 (minus-32)

The final game of the campaign could be the decider.

Remaining fixtures-

Sheffield United v Nottingham Forest
Nottingham Forest v Chelsea
Burnley v Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest gained the victory over Sheffield United at the City Ground in the Game Week-2 affair last August.

Taiwo Awoniyi scored the opener to give Forest a lead at the break.

Gustavo Hamer equalised for Sheffield United just after the restart before Chris Wood scored the winner late on to give Steve Cooper’s Tricky Trees the win over Paul Heckingbottom’s Blades by a 2-1 score.

Both were eventually down the concrete filling in Job Seekers Allowance forms at the Centre, leaving Chris Wilder and Nuno Espírito Santo to send out the boys for this reverse fixture at Bramall Lane.

Betfred offer Sheffield United at 7/2, the draw at 3/1 and slight Odds On 3/5 for Nottingham Forest to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 3/1 that Ben Brereton-Diaz Scores Anytime and 6/4 that Chris Wood Scores Anytime.

MAN CITY v WOLVES

17.30 in England

Sky Sports

After watching Liverpool held to a draw against West Ham and then seeing Arsenal struggle but ultimately gain a victory over Tottenham, it was imperative for Man City to get their victory in the fixture against Nottingham Forest in the final game of the weekend.

Despite not performing at their majestic best, goals from Josko Gvardiol and Erling Haaland gave Pep’s High Flying Blues the victory over Nuno’s Tricky Trees by a 2-0 scoreline.

Man City remain on the coattails of Arsenal, sitting 2nd in the Premier League table with 79 points from 34 games played.

Arsenal have 80 points but have played a game more.

With Liverpool falling off the rails it looks like it’s a straight shootout between Pep 1 and Pep 2, with Mr Guardiola knowing that all he has to do is see Man City win their remaining 4 games and that’s a 4th Premier League Title in a row, regardless of what Mikel Arteta and his Young Guns do.

Blue Moon!

Remaining fixtures-

Man City v Wolves
Fulham v Man City
Tottenham v Man City
Man City v West Ham

Wolves gained a victory over Luton on Saturday with goals from Hwang-Hee Chan and Toti, either side of the half-time break, giving Gary O’Neils Gold and Blacks the points from a 2-1 scoreline.

Luton did score a late consolation.

Wolves sit in 11th place with 46 points from 35 games played.

As mentioned earlier, it appears that the 11th to 16th teams really have nothing to play for, with a European place being out of reach and relegation off the menu.

Remaining fixtures-

Man City v Wolves
Wolves v Crystal Palace
Liverpool v Wolves

Most previews involving Man City about the reverse fixture usually start with the words,

‘Man City gained a victory against’

Not this time as it was Wolves who gained the victory over Man City when these two met at Molineux back in September.

Ruben Dias was credited with an Own Goal to give Wolves a lead at the interval.

Julian Alvarez equalised for City on the hour mark before Hwang-Hee Chan scored the winner to give Gary O’Neils Gold and Blacks a superb win by a 2-1 scoreline.

This was one of the 3 games that Roadie Rodri missed due to his Red Card against Nottingham Forest the previous week.

Sliding Doors!

Betfred offer Man City at Odds On 1/14, the draw at 15/2 and 16/1 for Wolves to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 5/1 that Phil Foden Scores First and slight Odds On 4/5 that Man City Win Both Halves.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

Sunday 05th

BRIGHTON v ASTON VILLA

14.00 in England

Brighton suffered an away day defeat against Bournemouth at the Vitality on Sunday, with the home team gaining the points from a 3-0 scoreline.

That leaves Brighton in 12th place with 44 points from 34 games played.

As already mentioned, places 11 to 16 don’t really have an incentive to perform so the season could just peter out for the Seagulls who will be more likely to nick chips of the punters on Brighton Beach than get excited about their team.

Remaining fixtures-

Brighton v Aston Villa
Newcastle v Brighton
Brighton v Chelsea
Brighton v Manchester United

Aston Villa gained a point from a draw by a 2-2 score against Chelsea at Villa Park on Saturday.

What will irk Unai Emery and the Villain faithful is Villa scored twice to take a 2-0 lead at the interval.

A Chelsea Own Goal and a Morgan Rogers strike gave Aston Villa an advantage going into the 2nd-half, however, Chelsea scored 2 themselves, to snatch a draw from the Archbishop’s favourite scoreline.

Aston Villa remain in the final Champions League spot of 4th place with 67 points from 35 games played.

Tottenham sit 5th with 60 points and have 2 games in hand over Villa, however, if one does the Math, a victory from those 2 extra games would give Tottenham 66 points, still a point adrift, so a Champions League place is now in Aston Villa’s own hands.

This fixture is sandwiched between Villa’s Europa Conference League Semi-Final against Olympiacos with the 1st-leg taking place at Villa Park on Thursday the 2nd and the away leg taking place on the 9th in Greece.

Remaining fixtures-

Brighton v Aston Villa
Aston Villa v Liverpool
Crystal Palace v Aston Villa

Aston Villa gained a devastating victory over Brighton at Villa Park back in September.

A couple of Ollie Watkins goals plus one credited to Brighton’s Pervis Estupinan gave Villa a comfortable lead at the break.

Ansu Fati pulled a goal back for the visitors before Ollie Watkins scored his 3rd and Villa’s 4th.

Jacob Ramsey added a 5th before Douglas Luiz rounded off the scoring giving Aston Villa all 3-points from a 6-1 scoreline.

Brighton will want to avenge that performance and may have the advantage due to Villa’s European Adventure.

Betfred offer Brighton at 6/4, the draw at 5/2 and 11/8 for Aston Villa to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 9/5 that Joao Pedro Scores Anytime and 11/10 that there are Over 3.5 Goals.

CHELSEA v WEST HAM

14.00 in England

Chelsea come into this London Derby off the back of a rearranged fixture against Tottenham at Stamford Bridge on Thursday.

Depending on the result against Spurs and the fact that Bournemouth and Wolves play on Saturday, Chelsea could be as low as 11th in the Premier League Table before this game against the Hammers.

That said, by pure coincidence, Bournemouth face Arsenal at the Emirates and Wolves take on Man City at the Etihad so it’s more than likely that Chelsea will still be at least 9th come kick-off today.

If Mauricio’s Blues gain a victory against Ange’s Spurs, then Chelsea will swap places with today’s opponents.

Chelsea v West Ham
Nottingham Forest v Chelsea
Brighton v Chelsea
Chelsea v Bournemouth

West Ham gained a great point from a draw by a 2-2 score against Liverpool on Saturday.

Jarrod Bowen headed home from a corner to give the Hammers a lead at the break.

The lead didn’t last long when Liverpool equalised within minutes of the restart, then scored again to go in front.

Michail Antonio, who was superb throughout, scored an equaliser for West Ham and with no further goals, both teams shared the points from the Archbishops’ favourite scoreline.

That leaves the Hammers in 8th place with 49 points from 35 games played.

At the moment, that’s not good enough for a European adventure next season which will disappoint the Bubbles having been able to show their Passports in the last 2 campaigns.

Newcastle have 4 points more in 7th and are set for the Europa Conference League place, considering the Magpies have played a game less than the Hammers.

Remaining fixtures-

Chelsea v West Ham
West Ham v Luton
Man City v West Ham

The Game Week-2 affair at the London Stadium saw West Ham get the victory over Chelsea by a 3-1 scoreline.

Nayef Aguerd scored first for the Hammers which was equalised by the Blues Carney Chukwuemeka to take both teams in level at the break.

Enzo Fernandez did miss a penalty before the half-time whistle that could have changed things.

Michail Antonio added a 2nd for West Ham just after the restart before the first goal scorer Nayef Aguerd was shown a 2nd Yellow Card and the subsequent Red to beat his mates into the showers.

With time running out, Lucas Paqueta converted a penalty to give the Hammers all 3-points.

Betfred offer Chelsea at Odds On 8/15, the draw at 16/5 and 18/5 for West Ham to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 9/2 that Cole Palmer Scores First and 11/5 that Jarrod Bowen Scores Anytime.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

LIVERPOOL v TOTTENHAM

16.30 in England

Sky Sports

Surely Liverpool’s Title Challenge is over following Saturday’s draw against West Ham at the London Stadium.

After conceding a Hammers goal to trail at the break, Andy Robertson scored an equaliser just after the restart.

Liverpool then fortuitously went in front when somehow the West Ham players between them, bungled the ball into their own net.

The goal was eventually credited to the Goalkeeper Alphonse Areola.

West Ham then scored an equaliser with 15 minutes left but with no further goals, both teams shared the points from a draw by a 2-2 score.

That leaves Liverpool still in 3rd place with 75 points, now 5 points adrift of Arsenal at the summit, with 3 fixtures remaining.

That really means Liverpool will stay 3rd come the end of the season as it’s unlikely Aston Villa or Tottenham will catch them even if Jurgen’s Reds don’t win again.

Remaining fixtures-

Liverpool v Tottenham
Aston Villa v Liverpool
Liverpool v Wolves

Is the announcement that Jurgen Klopp is leaving now allowing the players to subconsciously switched off?

Jurgen left Mo Salah on the bench and when introducing the Egyptian King in the 79th minute, after West Ham had just equalised, there appeared to be negative words between the two of them.

Ones is not sure what was said but a lip-reading expert told the media the conversation was,

Jurgen-

‘Right Mo, go and get the winner!’

Mo-

‘Oh so now you need me with 10 minutes remaining, I wouldn’t have needed to get the ‘winner’ Deidre, if you had started me from the beginning, now you want me to save the day again, well I’m not going to!’

Both will probably be away from Anfield next season.

Tottenham will have played against Chelsea on Thursday, in a rearranged fixture before this visit to Anfield.

Regardless of the result against the Blues, Ange’s Spurs will still be in 5th place with either 60, 61 or 63 points and probably will remain in 5th for the rest of the season.

Remaining fixtures-

Liverpool v Tottenham
Tottenham v Burnley
Tottenham v Man City
Sheffield United v Tottenham

If one remembers this reverse fixture in North London was the game that produced the controversy surrounding the dreaded VAR who ruled out a perfectly good Liverpool goal when the Stockley Park brigade gave confusing commentary to the on-field referee Simon Hooper.

Curtis Jones was shown a straight Red Card in the 26th minute.

Just after the sending-off, Luis Diaz was put clean through to score the opener, however, for some reason the VAR stated the Columbian was offside when he clearly wasn’t, cancelling out the goal.

Son Heung-Min then scored to give Tottenham the lead, before Coady Gakpo equalised for Liverpool on the stroke of half-time.

Diogo Jota was then shown 2 Yellow Cards and the subsequent Red to join Curtis in the Dressing Room, leaving Liverpool with 9 men.

When it appeared that the 9 men would hold on for a draw, Liverpool’s Joel Matip scored an Own Goal in the 96th minute to gift Tottenham the victory by a 2-1 score.

Whilst it was a defeat for Liverpool, the dreaded VAR had a lot of involvement and did admit afterwards that it was an error, ruling out the Luis Diaz goal.

Liverpool will likely finish 3rd in the table around 4 or 5 points adrift of the eventual Champions, however, imagine if Jurgen’s Reds were tied with the winners, knowing that the point missed against Tottenham would have given Liverpool the Title.

Betfred offer Liverpool at Odds On 4/9, the draw at 18/5 and 4/1 for Tottenham to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 7/2 that Darwin Nunez Scores First and slight Odds On 7/10 that Liverpool Score in Both Halves.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

At the end of the game, the United faithful were hoping that the little girl would play today instead of Bruno!

Manchester United are shocking at the moment and despite what Erik Ten Hag wants to put out in the media, as a man who has watched football for 50 years, this EveryTip contributor knows just how rubbish United are and added to that, difficult to watch.

After making hard work of the game against Burnley at Old Trafford on Saturday, Antony scored a goal in the 79th minute to give Manchester United the lead over the 2nd worst team in the Premier League.

When it looked like a lucky victory was on the cards, Andre Onana bungled into some Claret players and conceded a penalty late on that was converted meaning United snatched a draw from the jaws of victory.

The point gained against Burnley from a 1-1 score, leaves Erik’s Ten Bobs in 6th place with 54 points from 34 games played.

At the moment that represents a Europa League place, however, Newcastle sit a place and a point below with both having to face each other at Old Trafford in the penultimate game of the campaign.

With the form that both teams are currently in, it doesn’t bode well for the Red Devil faithful.
