Game Week-6
Saturday 27th
BRENTFORD v MANCHESTER UNITED
12.30 in England
TNT Sports
Brentford took the lead against Fulham in the Saturday Night Football at Craven Cottage, with Mikkel Damsgaard capitalising on a mistake by Fulham’s Josh King and scoring the opener.
Unfortunately for the Travelling Bees, who had made the short trip over West London, Fulham scored twice within 90 seconds to take a lead at half-time.
It worsened for Brentford just after the restart when Ethan Pinnock headed home from short range.
As one knows, Ethan is a Brentford player but got into an awkward position and somehow the ball ended up in the back of his own net when trying to head the ball away.
Head the ball!
Fulham did score a superb 4th but had the goal ruled out by the dreaded VAR who deemed Rodrigo Muniz had fouled Nathan Collins in the buildup, leaving Brentford with a defeat by a 3-1 scoreline.
Brentford succumbed to back-to-back league defeats at Craven Cottage for the first time since January 1954 and sit 17th with the same 4 points as Burnley following 3 losses in their opening 5 games.
It has emerged that Ruben Amorim has a clause in his Manchester United contract, stating that if he is sacked before the 11th of November 2025, which is a year after signing on at Old Trafford, then United have to pay Ruben £12 Million.
That answers so many questions about the current situation at the club.
Manchester United did get a much-needed victory over Chelsea on Saturday, with goals from Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro giving Ruben’s Red Devils the points from a 2-1 scoreline.
Chelsea scored in the 80th minute to make the last 10 a bit nervy for the United faithful.
Although it was a win and could possibly offer up a counterargument to the opening statement regarding Ruben Amorim, the victory was more to do with how the game played out and not down to Mr Amorim’s tactics.
To clarify this, Chelsea were reduced to 10 men when their Goalkeeper Robert Sanchez was shown a straight Red Card for denying a goal-scoring opportunity, after just 3 minutes of play.
Added to that Enzo Maresca made 3 substitutions to his starting lineup before 22 minutes had elapsed.
Taking off Estevao, Pedro Neto and Cole Palmer.
United immediately took advantage of the extra man scoring 2 goals in quick succession before the half-time interval.
Casemiro was then shown a 2nd Yellow Card and the subsequent Red on the stroke of half-time leaving both teams with 10 men for the whole of the 2nd-half.
Chelsea did score to half the deficit but United held on for the victory, leaving Ruben’s team in 11th place in a cluster of teams with 7 points, those being Leeds, Everton and Man City.
There’s something wrong with Ruben Amorim and Kobbie Mainoo, which resembles the same problems that Ruben had with Alejandro Garnacho and Marcus Rashford.
What that is all about is pure speculation but is Mr Amorim able to deal with these young egos/players?
John Newsome remains of the opinion that Ruben Amorim will be away from Old Trafford soon after the 12th of November which just happens to coincide with another International Break, where United don’t have a Premier League game after the fixture against Tottenham on the 8th and Everton on the 24th.
In last season’s encounter between the Bees and the Red Devils at the GTech Stadium, it was the home team that gained the victory with Brentford getting the win over Manchester United by a 4-3 scoreline.
The goals going in as follows-
14′ Mason Mount (United 0-1)
27′ Luke Shaw-OG (Brentford 1-1)
33′ Kevin Schade (Brentford 2-1)
Half-time Balti Chicken Pie and Bovril
70′ Kevin Schade (Brentford 3-1)
74′ Yoane Wissa (Brentford 4-1)
82′ Alejandro Garnacho (United 4-2)
90+5′ Amad Diallo (United 4-3)
Full-time Gin and Bitter Lemon
Betfred offer Brentford at 9/4, the Draw at 5/2 and 21/20 for Manchester to come away with all 3-points.
Betfred offer 7/1 that Kevin Schade Scores First and 8/1 that Manchester United Win From Behind.
(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.
If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

CHELSEA v BRIGHTON
15.00 in England
As mentioned in the Brentford v Manchester United preview above, although Chelsea suffered a defeat against United at Old Trafford last Saturday by a 2-1 scoreline, there were some mitigating circumstances.
Enzo Maresca’s initial starting eleven had to be changed within the first 5, 6 and 21 minutes due to a set of events triggered when Robert Sanchez came running out of his area and brought down Bryan Mbeumo, which was deemed as ‘denying a goal scoring opportunity’ that resulted in a straight Red Card for Robert.
Change number 1-
Enzo had to sacrifice the Striker Estevao for the replacement Goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen.
Change number 2-
Two minutes later, Enzo then brought off Pedro Neto, replacing the inspirational Forward with the Defender Tosin Adarabioyo.
Change number 3-
In the 21st minute, Enzo had to replace Cole Palmer with Andrey Santos, with Cole still feeling the injury sustained a couple of weeks ago.
United scored the first in the 14th minute and the second in the 37th minute to lead at the break.
The on-field referee Peter Bankes then equalled things up by sending off Casemiro leaving both teams with 10 men for the whole of the 2nd-half.
Chelsea were then the much better side but despite Trevoh Chalobah scoring to halve the deficit in the 80th minute, United held on for the victory.
The 3 early substitutions limited Enzo Maresca’s options later on in the game and disrupted the start so the defeat and it was a defeat, did, as mentioned, have mitigating circumstances.
Chelsea sit in 6th place with the same 8 points as Fulham and Sunderland following the opening 5 games completed.
Brighton snatched a draw from the jaws of victory against Tottenham at the Amex on Saturday.
What’s meant by that is, goals from Yankuba Minteh and Yasin Ayari (Yasin’s being a superb strike) gave Fabian Hurzeler’s Seagulls a 2-0 lead after half an hour of action.
That should have been enough to keep Brighton in front and get the win, however, Tottenham scored twice, one just before half-time and one in the 82nd minute, with the unfortunate Jan Paul Van Ecke scoring an Own Goal to gift Tottenham a point from a draw by a 2-2 score.
The Archbishop was happy.
The point gained, as despite what happens in the game, it’s always a point gained when a team draws, leaves Brighton in 14th place with the same 5 points as Nottingham Forest both having completed 5 fixtures.
It was Chelsea that gained the victory over Brighton at Stamford Bridge last season.
If one remembers, Cole Palmer scored all 4 goals which gave Enzo’s Blues the points from a 4-2 scoreline.
Georginio Rutter and Carlos Baleba scored for the Seagulls when the score was 0-0 and 3-1.
The anomaly in that particular game was that all 6 goals were scored in the 1st-half with none added after the break.
Betfred offer Chelsea at slight Odds On 4/5, the Draw at 11/4 and 3/1 for Brighton to come away with all 3-points.
Betfred offer 9/2 Joao Pedro Scores First and 5/4 that there are Under 2.5 Goals.
(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.
If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

CRYSTAL PALACE v LIVERPOOL
15.00 in England
Crystal Palace are one of the in-form teams at the moment, registering another win on Saturday, this time against West Ham at the London Stadium by a 2-1 away day scoreline.
As predicted in this EveryTip column last week.
Palace sit in 5th place with 9 points from the opening 5 fixtures, remaining unbeaten, along with Liverpool, being the only 2 teams out of the 20 not to suffer a defeat yet.
Jean-Philippe Mateta scored the opener to give Palace a lead at the break.
West Ham did equalise early in the 2nd-half, however, Oliver’s Army were too good on the day with Tyrick Mitchell scoring what turned out to be the winner in the 68th minute, to maintain the Eagles’ unbeaten record.
It really is a brilliant start for Oliver Glasner and his Palace players despite losing Eberechi Eze.
Probably the better deal in the recent Transfer Window, was keeping Marc Guehi, just for the time being, as Marc will be away from Selhurst Park in either January or next Summer.
The Europa Conference League-League Phase starts after this weekend, so that could possibly have a bearing on results from now on.
As mentioned, Liverpool remain unbeaten and have a 100% record of 5 wins from the opening 5 games played following Saturday’s victory over Everton at Anfield.
Ryan Gravenberch and Hugo Ekitike scored the 1st-half goals to give Liverpool a lead at the break.
Despite not scoring in the remainder of the game and conceding an Everton goal, Arne’s New Slots held on for the win over David’s Toffees by a 2-1 scoreline.
That leaves Liverpool at the summit of the Premier League table with 15 points, now with a 5-point advantage over Arsenal, Tottenham and Bournemouth who sit 2nd, 3rd and 4th and 8 points more than Man City (in 9th) following all of the Game Week-5 results.
It was October 2024, when Arne’s Slot Machines last visited Selhurst Park to take on Oliver’s Army.
A single Diogo Jota goal scored in the 9th minute gave Liverpool the victory over Crystal Palace by a 1-0 away-day score.
Remember, these two played in the Community Shield a couple of weeks ago, with Palace winning from a penalty shootout.
Betfred offer Crystal Palace at 3/1, the Draw at 13/5 and slight Odds On 4/5 for Liverpool to come away with all 3-points.
Betfred offer 11/2 that Jean-Philippe Mateta Scores First and 5/4 that Mo Salah Scores Anytime.
(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.
If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

LEEDS UNITED v BOURNEMOUTH
15.00 in England
Leeds ventured South to Molineux on Saturday to face Wolves and came away with a brilliant win by a 3-1 away-day score.
The Wolves Defender Ladislav Krejci scored first to give Wolves an early lead.
Goals from Dominic Solanke, Anton Stach and Noah Okafor, all scored before the half-time interval, was enough to give Leeds the victory.
That leaves Leeds United in 12th place with the same 7 points as Manchester United, Everton and Man City after the opening 5 games.
The West Yorkshire Puddings then headed off back up the road singing their iconic song,
‘Marching On Together!’
Bournemouth gained a point from a draw by a 0-0 score against Newcastle on Saturday.
Both teams struggled to create chances, with the stats showing that the Cherries had 2 shots on target and the Magpies had 1,
That said, it wasn’t a defeat for Andoni Iraola who sees his Bournemouth team sitting in 4th place with the same 10 points as Tottenham and Arsenal from the opening 5 set of matches.
It was Bonfire Night in 2022 when Bournemouth last visited Elland Rd to take on Leeds in the Premier League.
It was the home team that gained the victory in a 7-goal thriller with the goals going in as follows-
3′ Rodrigo -penalty (Leeds 1-0)
7′ Marcus Tavernier (Bournemouth 1-1)
19′ Philip Billing (Bournemouth 1-2)
Half-time Meat Pie and Pint
48′ Dominic Solanke (Bournemouth 1-3)
60′ Sam Greenwood (Leeds 2-3)
68′ Liam Cooper (Leeds 3-3)
84′ Crysencio Summerville (Leeds 4-3)
Full-time Roast Beef and Yorkshire Pudding with a glass of Red Wine.
Betfred offer Leeds United at 15/8, the Draw at 11/5 and 11/8 for Bournemouth to come away with all 3-points.
Betfred offer 11/2 that Antoine Semenyo Scores First and 6/1 that Anton Stach Scores Anytime.
(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.
If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

MAN CITY v BURNLEY
15.00 in England
The Kyle Walker Derby
Man City gained a creditable point from a draw by a 1-1 score against Arsenal at the Etihad on Sunday.
Erling Haaland scored City’s goal in the 1st-half.
Man City then played out the rest of the game trying to hold on for the win, only having 33% possession throughout.
Unfortunately, for the travelling Citizens, Arsenal scored a very late equaliser in the 93rd minute to give both teams a share of the points.
The tactic of having less possession has been somewhat criticised by certain parts of the media.
Whilst Man City are renowned for being the dominant possession-based team, look at what happened in last season’s encounter between the two at the Emirates.
Arsenal had 46% possession throughout, with Man City having 54%.
Arsenal gained the victory over City by a 5-1 scoreline.
So this year, Pep Guardiola changed his approach to the game, sitting back and soaking up Arsenal’s possession, which eventually earned a very important point.
Probably the timing of Arsenal’s goal was the reason for the criticism, however, as everyone knows, a game lasts until the final whistle.
Man City sit in 9th place with the same 7 points as Leeds United, Manchester United and Everton from the opening 5 games.
It’s one’s opinion that Man City, despite only having 7 points and sitting 9th, are in a better position than last season and over the course of the next couple of months, will find their level, which is probably 2nd or 3rd in the table.
Even though there are only 5 games played up to now and 33 left, it’s looking as though the Premier League title is staying at Anfield and the rest are fighting for 2nd place.
Burnley themselves gained a point from a draw by a 1-1 score against Nottingham Forest at Turf Moor on Saturday.
After conceding a Forest goal in the 2nd minute, Jaidon Anthony scored for the Clarets after 20 minutes to take both teams in level at the break.
With no further goals in the 2nd-half both teams gained a point apiece.
Burnley sit in 16th place with the same 4 points as Brentford after the opening 5 fixtures.i
It was the final day of January 2024 when Man City last hosted Burnley at the Etihad.
Julian Alvarez scored twice in the 1st-half to give City a comfortable lead at the break.
Rodri then added a 3rd just after the restart before Ameen Al Dakhil scored a late consolation goal for Burnley leaving Man City with the victory by a 3-1 scoreline.
Betfred offer Man City at Odds On 1/7, the Draw at 6/1 and 14/1 for Burnley to come away with all 3-points.
Betfred offer 2/1 that Erling Haaland’s Scores First and Evens 1/1 that there are Over 3.5 Goals.
(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.
If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

NOTTINGHAM FOREST v SUNDERLAND
17.30 in England
Sky Sports
Nottingham Forest (remember, now under the guidance of Ange Postecoglou) gained a point from a draw by a 1-1 score against Burnley on Saturday.
Nico Williams scored for Forest after 2 minutes before Burnley equalised some 20 minutes or so later.
With no further goals in the remaining 70 minutes, both teams went home with a point apiece.
Forest sit in 15th place with the same 5 points as Brighton after the initial 5 games.
Ange Postecoglou won the Europa League last season with Tottenham and now gets the opportunity to win the same trophy with Forest.
Forest face Real Betis in Spain on Wednesday so the travelling could be a factor in this game against Sunderland.
Sunderland’s Reinildo Mandava was shown a straight Red Card on the half-hour mark, leaving the Black Cats a man down for the next hour.
Despite conceding a Villa goal midway through the 2nd-half, Wilson Isidor, roared on by the Sunderland faithful, scored the equaliser in the 75th minute and with no further goals both gained a point apiece.
There used to be the Roker Roar when Sunderland played at their old stadium Roker Park.
Now the roar continues at the Stadium of Light which is a positive factor from the Black Cat faithful.
Sunderland sit in 7th place with the same 8 points as Fulham and Chelsea from the opening 5 fixtures completed.
It was December 30th, 2017 when Nottingham Forest, under the guidance of Mark Warburton, last hosted Sunderland, who had Chris Coleman as the Manager at the City Ground.
That was a Championship affair with the away team gaining the victory by a narrow 1-0 scoreline.
Aiden McGeady with the solitary winning goal, scored after 40 minutes.
Coincidentally, it was Forest that gained the away day victory by the same narrow 1-0 score when the two met earlier on in the 2016/17 season.
Betfred offer Nottingham Forest at slight Odds On 4/5, the Draw at 12/5 and 10/3 for Sunderland to come away with all 3-points.
Betfred offer 4/1 that Chris Wood Scores First and 9/5 that Forest Win To Nil.

Sunday 28th
TOTTENHAM v WOLVES
14.00 in England
Sky Sports
Tottenham gained a great point against Brighton at the Amex on Saturday.
After conceding 2 early goals, Richarlison scored to halve the deficit just before the break.
Tottenham then got a helping hand when Brighton’s Jan Paul Van Hecke scored an Own Goal in the 82nd to gift Tottenham a point with the game finishing in a 2-2 scoreline.
Tottenham sit 3rd in the table with 10 points, behind Arsenal who also have 10 and Liverpool at the summit with a perfect record of 15 points.
Bournemouth sit 4th with 10 points also.
Wolves are struggling at the moment and sit at the foot of the Premier League table with Nil Points from the opening 5 games.
Despite Ladislav Krejci scoring the opening goal against Leeds at Molineux on Saturday, Wolves conceded 3 before the break and with no further goals in the 2nd-half, ultimately suffered another defeat, this time by a 3-1 scoreline.
The Wolves Manager has just signed a new contract so his position doesn’t seem to be in danger, however, if Wolves can’t stop the losing streak, then the hierarchy might just have to rethink that particular scenario.
Both teams shared the points from a draw by a 2-2 score when Tottenham hosted Wolves in last season’s encounter between the two.
Hwang Hee-Chan scored the opener in the 7th minute to give Wolves an early lead.
Rodrigo Bentancur scored for Tottenham 5 minutes later.
Brennan Johnson scored a 2nd for Tottenham on the stroke of half-time.
Son Heung-Min missed a penalty before Brennan’s goal.
Wolves left it late to snatch a point with Jorgen Strand-Larsen scoring in the 87th minute to give both teams a point apiece from the Archbishop’s favourite scoreline.
Betfred offer Tottenham at Odds On 4/9, the Draw at 10/3 and 11/2 for Wolves to come away with all 3-points.
Betfred offer 10/3 that Richarlison Scores First and 11/10 that Tottenham Score in Both Halves.
(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.
If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

ASTON VILLA v FULHAM
15.00 in England
Aston Villa gained a point from a draw by a 1-1 score against Sunderland at Villa Park on Saturday.
Sunderland’s Reinildo Mandava was shown a straight Red Card on the half-hour mark, leaving Aston Villa with a man advantage for the next hour.
Matty Cash scored for Villa in the 67th minute, however, Unai Emery’s Claret and Blues couldn’t hold onto the lead with Sunderland scoring the equaliser 8 minutes later.
With no further goals, both teams gained a point apiece.
Villa’s problem is scoring goals, with just 1 on the record this season, leaving them in 18th place with 3 points from the opening 5 games.
The 3 points came from two 0-0 draws and one 1-1 draw.
West Ham have 3 points also.
Aston Villa take on Bologna at Villa Park on Thursday in the opening game of the Europa League-League Phase.
Fulham gained a brilliant victory over their West London rivals Brentford on Saturday.
Goals from Alex Iwobi, Harry Wilson and a Brentford Own Goal gave Marco Silva’s Cottagers the victory over Keith Andrews’ Bees by a 3-1 scoreline.
Brentford had scored first.
Fulham sit in 8th place with the same 8 points as Sunderland and Chelsea, all having completed 5 games.
A single Youri Tielemans goal scored after 12 minutes was enough to give Aston Villa the victory over Fulham in last season’s fixture between the two at Villa Park.
Betfred offer Aston Villa at 13/10, the Draw at 21/10 and 21/10 for Fulham to come away with all 3-points.
Betfred offer 4/1 that Ollie Watkins Scores First and 3/1 that Harry Wilson Scores Anytime.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

NEWCASTLE v ARSENAL
16.30 in England
Sky Sports
Newcastle come into this fixture sitting 13th in the table with 6 points from the opening 5 games.
The 6 points have been accrued from 1 Win and 3 Draws, with a Loss in the other, however, the drawn games, significantly, have all been 0-0 scorelines.
The latest being a goalless draw against Bournemouth on Saturday.
Newcastle have only scored 3 goals this season, added to conceding 3, which is the 2nd worst record in the Premier League.
Only Aston Villa have scored fewer goals (1).
Even Wolves who have yet to achieve a point, have scored the same 3 as Newcastle.
The obvious reason is a certain Alexander Isak but that’s in the past, Eddie Howe and his Magpies need to move on from that scenario and start putting the ball in the back of the onion (Yorkshire term for net!)
Alexander’s replacement, Yoane Wissa is injured and hasn’t pulled on a Newcastle jersey yet, which is obviously not what Eddie wants.
Arsenal snatched a draw from the jaws of defeat against Man City at the Emirates on Sunday.
After conceding a 1st-half goal to City, Gabriel Martinelli grabbed a very late equaliser in the 93rd minute scoring a superb goal past a very resilient set of Man City Defenders.
It was mentioned in the Man City v Burnley preview that Arsenal had 67% possession against City which is not usually the case when Pep’s team are on show.
It was an obvious ploy from Mr Guardiola who had seen Arsenal smash City in last season’s encounter at the Emirates by a 5-1 scoreline, after Arsenal had 46% possession in that particular game.
In truth it was a fair result, it was probably the timing of Gabriel’s goal that made it look as if Man City were unlucky to get the win or Arsenal lucky not to lose, whichever way one wants to look at that.
The unfortunate Noni Madueke is set to miss about six to eight weeks with a knee injury sustained in the game against City on Sunday.
However, the 23-year-old England international is not believed to have suffered an ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament) injury.
Arsenal sit in 2nd place with the same 10 points as Tottenham and Bournemouth, all now 5 points adrift of Liverpool at the summit.
There are only 5 points separating Arsenal in 2nd place with 10 points and Brighton in 14th with 5 points, so all to play for at the moment.
Alexander Isak scored the only goal of the game when Arsenal last ventured North to face Newcastle in the Premier League, giving Eddie’s Magpies the victory over Mikel’s Young Guns by a 1-0 score.
If one remembers, the two also met twice in the Semi-Final of the Carabao Cup with Newcastle progressing to the Final with both games finishing in a 2-0 scoreline in favour of the Magpies.
Betfred offer Newcastle at 9/4, the Draw at 9/4 and 23/20 for Arsenal to come away with all 3-points.
Betfred offer 6/1 that Bukayo Saka Scores First and 5/2 that Arsenal Win To Nil.
(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.
If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

Monday 29th
EVERTON v WEST HAM
20.00 in England
Sky Sports
The David Moyes Derby.
Everton suffered a defeat against Liverpool in the Merseyside Derby at Anfield on Saturday.
After conceding 2 goals to trail at the break, Idrissa Gueye pulled a goal back for the Toffees just before the hour mark, however, with no further goals, Liverpool held on for the victory over Everton by a 2-1 score.
Everton sit in 10th place with the same 7 points as Leeds, Manchester United and Man City.
Graham Potter is under serious pressure, following another defeat for West Ham, this time against Crystal Palace on Saturday.
Jarrod Bowen did score to equalise an earlier Palace goal, however, Palace then scored a 2nd to inflict the defeat on Aston Villa by a 2-1 scoreline.
West Ham sit in 19th place with the same 3 points as Aston Villa.
With Nuno Espírito Santo now available due to falling out with the Greek Bloke at the City Ground, it does appear that Graham’s time at the London Stadium is coming to an end.
Also, don’t rule out Slaven Bilic returning!
West Ham face Arsenal at the Emirates after this trip up to Merseyside so the hierarchy might just give Mr Potter those two games and then there is another International Break coming up, which is usually the time when Managers are sacked and replaced.
Watch this space.
The Bubble faithful do like a moan and put in a protest before the game against Crystal Palace.
That protest was primarily aimed at the Hammers Board but Graham shouldn’t be too blinkered to think that it’s nothing to do with him.
Harry needs to get some severe Wizardry going to kick West Ham into life.
Both teams shared the points from a draw by a 1-1 score when West Ham visited Goodison Park last season.
Obviously, today’s game is at the new Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Tomas Soucek scored the Hammers’ goal midway through the 2nd-half with Jake O’Brien leaving it very late to score the equaliser for the Toffees in the 91st minute.
The result at the London Stadium earlier on in the campaign was another tight affair with both teams once again sharing the points from a draw, this time by a 0-0 scoreline.
Betfred offer Everton at Odds On 8/11, the Draw at 5/2 and 7/2 for West Ham to come away with all 3-points.
Betfred offer 5/1 that Illiman Ndiaye Scores First and slight Odds On 4/5 that there are Under 2.5 Goals.
(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.
If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)
