Saturday’s Horse Racing Preview & Tips- 14th January 2023 – Seymour Biz

saturday horse racing tips and previews from expert tipster seymour biz on everytipFind all previous Seymour Biz racing previews in his weekly column: Saturday Horse Racing Tips.

We have seven races to look forward to on ITV4 this Saturday with the meetings at Kempton and Warwick being televised. Three of the races are from Kempton with the highlight being the Lanzarote Hurdle, a race that always attracts a big field. The four races at Warwick include a pair of Grade 2 races for novices, one a hurdle and the other a chase.

So we can expect to see some some of the top up and coming horses in the country in action here. Just a shame about the small fields but Paul Nicholls’s pair Knowsley Road and Complete Unknown should put up good performances.

Meanwhile I have looked elsewhere for this week’s Lucky Fifteen and here are my thoughts.

Saturday Lucky Fifteen
1.30 Kempton. Tile Tapper
2.40 Kempton. Petit Tonnerre
3.00 Warwick. Threeunderthrufive
3.35 Warwick. The Bomber Liston

Beginning at Kempton with the 1.30 the Coral Racing Club Handicap Chase which is run over 3 miles. Top weight and one of the favourites is Paul Nicholls’s Enrilo, but he was very inconsistent last season and has carried on that sort of form into this term by falling on his seasonal reappearance at Wincanton in November. I think he is best watched, but he could very well prove me wrong.

One of the other favourites is Evan Williams’s Annsam who has been trying his luck in Graded races this season without success. He won a couple of decent handicaps last season and can go close here.

Philip Hobbs’s Smarty Wild was a course winner two years ago, his last victory, but has finished in the frame on both occasions this season.

In his last outing here at Kempton at the Christmas meeting, he ran third, and the horse that was second was Chris Honour’s Tile Tapper who can go well off bottom weight. He finished last season with a victory at Chepstow and has run well in both his contests this season only to finish second twice. He can go one better here.

The big handicap of the day is the Coral Lanzarote Handicap Hurdle at 2.40 a 2m 5f contest. Paul Nicholls has the favourite with Outlaw Peter who won here at Kempton over this distance last May and then was victorious at Exeter last time out in November, a reproduction of that form will see him go close.

One of the top weights is Philip Hobbs’s Camprond who was a well beaten last in a Graded race at Newbury last time. He has too much weight.

Archie Watson’s Stag Horn comes here for his seasonal reappearance after running in Graded novices company last year winning once, he can be placed.

Alan King’s Harbour Lake won at Market Rasen in October and has run creditably in his two runs since. He is another who can go well.

Irish raider Green Glory trained by Charles Byrnes won in December at Leopardstown, and he looks well weighted to be placed. But my preference is for Jonjo O’Neill’s Petit Tonnerre who won three times last season (twice in France) and has been placed in both his runs this time around. He can make that step up.

Moving up to Warwick the 3.00 is the Wigley Group Classic Handicap Chase run over 3m 5f. Paul Nicholls’s Threeunderthrufive has top weight here as he was a top novice last season. He ran third over hurdles first time out this term then at Newbury in the Coral Gold Cup but unshipped his rider at the first fence. He can gain recompense here despite his weight.

Sam Thomas’s Iwilldoit won twice at Chepstow in December 2021. This is his first run since then, and he is probably best watched.

I like Henry Daly’s Fortescue who gives his all in his races. He was pulled up when beaten last time in the Welsh National but he could be placed here at a big price.

Chris Connor’s Grumpy Charley won at Newbury last month, but the extra 3 furlongs here may find him out.

Down at the bottom of the handicap Guetapan Collonges won here at Warwick in November but steps up in class and distance, this is a big ask.

Alan King’s Notachance won this two years ag. However, he has had his problems since, but he has 9lbs less than when he was victorious and can go close if his troubles are behind him. However it’s Threeunderthrufive for me.

At 3.35 it is the Pertemps Network Handicap Hurdle, a 3m 1f contest where top weight is Gordon Elliott’s Grade 1 winner Sire Du Berlais who comes here to kick-start his season, but the weight could be a problem.

Charlie Longsden’s Glimpse Of Gala has been running consistently well this season finally getting her head in front at Kempton last month. She is sure to go close.

David Pipe’s Paricolor is at the bottom of the handicap and has been placed in three of his last four runs. However, this is a big step up in class.

One horse that Sire Du Berlais could have a problem giving weight to is Nicky Henderson’s The Bomber Liston who has been crying out for a step up in trip and this could be his opportunity. Both horses are in the same ownership, so similar colours could be fighting out the finish, and I just take The Bomber Liston to score a knockout.
