Two meetings are being televised this week, Ascot and York, two of the country’s top venues. Ascot features the King George and Queen Elizabeth Stakes where Mishriff looks good to me, this Blue Riband contest is backed up by three further races one of which is a great Heritage Handicap.

The other meeting on ITV is from York where three races are featured including a Jump Jockeys Handicap. The last race won by Sir Anthony McCoy it’s always a thrill for the crowds. This is backed up by a 6f Dash Handicap and a Group 2 where Bayside Boy is looking for his first win of the season, so here are my thoughts for this week’s Lucky Fifteen.

Saturday Lucky Fifteen
1.50 Ascot. Royal Charter
2.25 Ascot. Jumbly
3.00 Ascot. Fresh
2.40 York. Aberama Gold

Ascot starts at 1.50 with the 6-furlong Princess Margaret Keeneland Stakes where Lezoo is fancied after finishing second in a Group 2 at Newmarket earlier this month.

Kinda is two from two but both those wins are on the all-weather she tries turf for the first time.

Breege was a beaten favourite last time out after winning on her debut at Wetherby in May.

I prefer Royal Charter who showed fighting qualities to get up and win her maiden at Newmarket last month.

At 2.25 it is the Longines Valiant Stakes run over a mile on the round course. Zanbaq ran really well here at the Royal meeting when she was hampered in the last half furlong but still came second.

The German trained Novemba was fourth here in June but needs to show a fair bit of improvement to take this. Oscula steps up in class here but could well hit the frame. She is a consistent sort.

Jumbly drops down in class after trying her luck in Group 1 and 2 races on the continent. She could finally win her first race of the season here.

The big handicap of the day is at 3.00, the Moet and Chandon International Stakes run over 7 furlongs. We have a horse called Jumby in this so watch your bets, he was a fine third at Newmarket a fortnight ago but is giving weight to the other principals.

Dark Shift loves Ascot, he has won here four times but drops down in trip in this contest.

Air To Air won a small race at Yarmouth last time and significant improvement would be needed to figure here. Ropey Guest was a fine second in front of Jumby last time if he can reproduce that form he will go close.

But I will give Fresh another chance after he had a terrible draw here last month, any give in the ground will see him go close.

Moving north to York at 2.40 it is the Sky Bet Dash Handicap, a 6-furlong sprint. Last year’s winner returns to defend his crown, Venturous, but his form has not been great this year however he has 4lb less than last season.

Nationwide showed good form on the all-weather but was unable to transfer that form to the turf at Haydock in May.

Silver Samurai won that Haydock race and could go close here.

Fortamour has won twice this season, both times at Ripon, a course he favours.

Aberama Gold won a Listed race here at York as a 2-year-old but since then his form has been indifferent however two seconds at Ayr may show he is recapturing that form, he is on a nice weight and I give him a chance here.
