Just a few lines with my thoughts for Saturday’s ITVRacing that has coverage from Leicester and Newbury where the Challow Hurdle is the highlight of the day.
Newbury’s 2.20 is the Coral Mandarin Chase where Ben Pauling’s Henry’s Friend has a good chance in getting off the mark for the season after two previous runs here at Newbury but he ran well to finish 5th in a Grade 3 last month.
The 2.55 is the Challow Novices Hurdle where Dan Skelton’s The New Lion looks the obvious choice after his victory here last month, this unbeaten gelding can go on to greater things later in the year ahead.
There is a Novices Handicap Chase at 3.35 where Nicky Henderson’s Shanagh Bob is looking to get his season back on track after a very disappointing run in the mud at Uttoxeter last month, he is much better than that.
Moving north to Leicester for the 3.10, the Silver Fox Handicap Chase where Nigel Twiston-Davies runs his young gelding High Treason whose jumping over the larger obstacles this season cannot be described as mistake-free, but hopefully those errors have been worked on and he can show improvement to get his chasing career off the mark.
