Game Week-13

Saturday 29th

BRENTFORD v BURNLEY

15.00 in England

Igor Thiago scored the opener against Brighton at the Amex on Saturday to give Brentford a lead at the break.

Unfortunately, for the travelling Bees in attendance, Brighton scored twice in the 2nd-half to inflict a defeat on Brentford by a 2-1 scoreline.

After scoring the opener, Igor had the chance to score an equaliser in the 93rd minute when Brentford were awarded a penalty.

Again, unfortunately for the travelling Bees who had made the trip to the South Coast, Igor saw his tame spot-kick saved by the Brighton Goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen.

Doh!

The defeat leaves Brentford in 13th place with 16 points from the opening 12 games completed.

Burnley suffered another defeat on Saturday, this time against Chelsea at Turf Moor by a 2-0 scoreline, as predicted in this EveryTip column last week.

It’s Burnley’s 3rd loss in a row, which has dropped the Clarets down to 19th place with 10 points from the 12 games played so far.

Brentford gained the victory when Burnley last visited the GTech Stadium, which was back in October 2023.

Goals from Yoane Wissa, Bryan Mbeumo and Saman Ghoddos gave Thomas Frank’s Bees the home win over Vincent Kompany’s Clarets by a 3-0 scoreline.

Burnley’s Connor Roberts was shown a 2nd Yellow Card and the subsequent Red in the 78th minute, leaving the Clarets a man down for the remainder, however, the score was 2-0 at the time, so it probably didn’t affect the result.

Betfred offer Brentford at Odds On 4/9, the Draw at 3/1 and 6/1 for Burnley to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 10/3 that Igor Thiago Scores First and 5/4 that Brentford Score in Both Halves.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

MAN CITY v LEEDS UNITED

15.00 in England

The Erling Haaland Derby!

Erling was born in Leeds, when his Dad, Alf-Inge was on the books of Leeds United back in the year 2000.

It’s a shame the lad chose Norway over England to play his International Football, although the lad will be at next year’s World Cup, following Norway’s qualification which will only enhance the competition.

Man City suffered a defeat against Newcastle at St James Park on Saturday Night.

After a surprise goalless 1st-half, the surprise being Erling Haaland missed a couple of sitters, the goals started to flow after the hour mark, with Newcastle scoring the opener in the 63rd minute.

Ruben Dias equalised for City 5 minutes later, however, the parity didn’t last long when Newcastle scored again in the 70th.

In truth, the goal should have been disallowed for offside as a new phenomenon seems to be entering the game, via the VAR system.

The same phenomenon happened in the Leeds United v Aston Villa game.

The Semi-Automated-Offside-Technology (SAOT) which could easily have another acronym that replaces the ‘A’ and ‘O’ showed that the Newcastle and Leeds player respectively, had their feet in an offside position, however, the Man City and Aston Villa players were deemed to be playing them onside with their shoulder.

How is that right?

It should be the feet!

Anyway, in both cases, the goal stood, so watch out for that phenomenon in the future.

The defeat against Newcastle leaves Man City in 3rd place with 22 points from the opening 12 games completed.

Man City host Bayer Leverkusen at the Etihad on Tuesday in Match Day-5 of the Champions League-League Phase.

‘Leeds, Leeds are falling apart again, Leeds, Leeds are falling apart again.’

The new name of Leeds United, that being ‘Leeds Lost Again’ lost again on Sunday, this time against Aston Villa at Elland Rd.

As mentioned, the Leeds goal somehow stood when it appeared the player was offside.

Although Leeds scored first when the ball hit Lukas Nmecha and deflected into the net, Villa scored twice to inflict the defeat on the home team by a 2-1 scoreline.

Despite the goal, which was more luck than planning, Leeds are struggling to find the back of the net even trying to score by punching the ball into the goal, as Dominic Calvert-Lewin did late in, akin to Kobe Bryant having the ball on a Basketball Court.

Leeds drop into the relegation zone, now sitting 18th with the same 11 points as West Ham but in the bottom three due to goal difference.

It was May 2023, when Man City last hosted Leeds United in the Premier League.

Ilkay Gundogan scored twice in the 1st-half to give City a comfortable lead at the break.

Ilkay then had the opportunity to score a hat-trick when City were awarded a penalty in the 84th minute, however, Mr Gundogan missed the spot-kick.

Rodrigo then scored for Leeds to make it a nervy final few minutes for the home team, however, City held on for the victory by a 2-1 scoreline.

Man City have won the last 4 games against Leeds, both home and away.

Betfred offer Man City at Odds On 2/9, the Draw at 5/1 and 10/1 for Leeds United to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 2/1 that Erling Haaland Scores Two Plus+ Goals and 3/1 that there are Over 4.5 Goals.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

SUNDERLAND v BOURNEMOUTH

15.00 in England

Sunderland suffered a narrow defeat against Fulham at Craven Cottage on Saturday, with the home team getting the points from a 1-0 scoreline.

That’s the Black Cats first loss in the last 5 games with 2 Draws and 2 Wins from the other 4.

Sunderland sit 7th in the table with the same 19 points as Bournemouth and Brighton.

As mentioned, Bournemouth have 19 points from the opening 12 games, sitting in 8th just below today’s hosts on goal difference, meaning the winner will finish the weekend higher.

The Cherries gained a point from a draw by a 2-2 score against West Ham on Saturday.

The Hammers scored twice in the 1st-half to lead at the break.

It was then the Cherry Show with Marcus Tavernier converting a penalty in the 69th minute and then Enes Unal equalising in the 81st to give both teams a share of the points.

After 2 straight defeats, the faithful will feel that their idols are somewhat back on track.

It was April 2017, when Bournemouth last made the long journey North to the Stadium of Light to face Sunderland.

Eddie Howe’s Cherries gained the away-day victory over David Moyes’ Black Cats by a 1-0 scoreline.

Joshua King with the solitary winning goal in the 88th minute.

There is a Joshua King that currently plays for Fulham, however, the goal scorer for Bournemouth back in 2017 is the Norwegian Striker, not the English youngster who plays for the Cottagers.

The Fulham Joshua would have only been 10 years old back in April 2017.

Betfred offer Sunderland at 15/8, the Draw at 11/5 and 11/8 for Bournemouth to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 9/2 that Antoine Semenyo Scores First and 7/4 that Wilson Isidor Scores Anytime.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

EVERTON v NEWCASTLE

17.30 in England

Sky Sports

Everton stunned Manchester United at Old Trafford on Monday Night Football.

Despite being reduced to 10 men in the 13th minute for a bizarre incident where Idrissa Gueye slapped his own teammate Michael Keane, the 10 men outplayed United.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, who was superb throughout, scored a brilliant goal on the half-hour mark.

Everton, who were never really in too much danger, even with a man-lite, held out for the remaining hour to seal the away-day victory by a 1-0 scoreline.

It was a brilliant performance from David Moyes’ Boys who sit 11th in the table with the same 18 points as Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham, all having completed 12 games so far.

Newcastle stunned Man City on Saturday, with the Magpies gaining a victory over the Blues by a 2-1 scoreline.

After a goalless first hour of the game, Harvey Barnes scored the opener which was immediately equalised by Man City.

Harvey then scored a 2nd and ultimately the winner 7 minutes after his first, to give Newcastle all 3 points.

Newcastle had suffered defeats in the previous 2 Premier League games which just happened to be away from St James Park, which suggests Eddie Howe’s Magpies are better at home, so this could be another tough late afternoon for the Toon Army.

Newcastle head to France on Tuesday to take on Marseille in the Champions League.

Both teams shared the points from a draw by a 0-0 score when Newcastle visited Goodison Park last season.

Obviously, this year’s game is at Everton’s New Hill Dickinson Stadium where the faithful would like to see some goals.

Betfred offer Everton at 9/5, the Draw at 11/5 and 7/5 for Newcastle to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 7/1 that Iliman Ndiaye Scores First and 13/5 that Harvey Barnes Scores Anytime.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

TOTTENHAM v FULHAM

20.00 in England

Sky Sports

Tottenham suffered the expected defeat against Arsenal at the Emirates on Sunday.

After conceding 3 goals, Richarlison scored a brilliant effort, hitting the ball from 45 yards over the Arsenal Goalkeeper.

Unfortunately, this proved just to be a consolation with Arsenal then scoring a 4th to inflict the defeat by a 4-1 scoreline and gain the North London Bragging Rights.

Tottenham sit in 9th place with the same 18 points as Manchester United, Everton and Liverpool.

Tottenham face Paris Saint-Germain in the French Capital on Wednesday, in Match Day-5 of the Champions League-League Phase.

Fulham gained a victory over Sunderland on Saturday, with Raul Jimenez scoring the solitary winning goal in the 84th minute to give Marco Silva’s team the points from a 1-0 scoreline and ease the pressure on the Portuguese Manager.

Fulham sit in 15th place with 14 points from the opening 12 games played.

Both teams shared the points from a draw by a 1-1 score when Tottenham hosted Fulham last season.

After a goalless 1st-half, Brennan Johnson scored to give Tottenham a lead before Tom Cairney equalised to ultimately give both teams a point apiece.

Tom had a mixed experience at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, firstly being sent on as a substitute in the 62nd minute, scoring the equaliser 5 minutes later, then receiving a straight Red Card for a horror challenge in the 83rd minute.

Betfred offer Tottenham at 21/20, the Draw at 12/5 and 12/5 for Fulham to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 7/1 that Mohammed Kudos Scores First and 16/5 that Harry Wilson Scores Anytime.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

Sunday 30th

CRYSTAL PALACE v MANCHESTER UNITED

12.00 in England

TNT Sports

Note the start time, 12 PM in England, not the usual 14.00 Sunday Afternoon kickoff time.

Crystal Palace gained a victory over Wolves on Saturday with goals from Daniel Munoz and Yeremy Pino scoring the 2nd-half goals to give the Eagles the points from a 2-0 scoreline.

As predicted in this EveryTip column last week.

Probably the only surprise was that Jean-Philippe Mateta didn’t score, especially as the lad is on fire at the moment, getting a goal for France in the recent International Break.

France have qualified for the World Cup, so providing JPM remains injury-free, the Eagle will be soaring over to the USA, Mexico and Canada next year.

Crystal Palace are desperate to extend Jean-Philippe’s contract which expires in June 2027, however, the Striker will be 30 by then and may feel that a ‘so-called bigger club’ is beckoning him.

That said, a contract extension doesn’t mean JPM won’t be sold, it just allows Crystal Palace to ask for more money.

This game might show if Jean-Philippe Mateta is auditioning for a role as the Manchester United Striker.

Palace sit in 5th place with 20 points from the opening 12 games completed.

Crystal Palace head to France on Thursday to face Strasbourg in Match Day-4 of the Europa Conference League, so the travelling could be a factor in this early Sunday Afternoon clash with United who will have had almost a week off.

Manchester United were stopped in their tracks on Monday Night Football.

Following 5 unbeaten games, which included 3 straight wins and 2 draws, United suffered a home defeat against Everton.

The Toffees were reduced to 10 men in the 13th minute but were still too good for 11-man United who lacked energy, vision and the ability to score goals.

It was a concern for the Red Devils faithful when Joshua Zirkzee was named in the starting lineup, in place of the injured pair of Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Sesko.

Obviously, Ruben Amorim included Joshua due to the 2 goals the Dutch Forward scored against Everton last season, however, that was against a poor Everton team.

Unfortunately, this season, Joshua isn’t good enough to be a Number 9 for Manchester United, which was evident throughout the 90 minutes Mr Zirkzee played, offering nothing up front.

As mentioned, Jean-Philippe Mateta might just be eying up the chance of taking Joshua’s shirt for next season.

United sit in 10th place with the same 18 points as Liverpool, Everton and Tottenham.

The scorer wasn’t needed when Erik Ten Hag’s United team visited Selhurst Park to take on Oliver Glasner’s Palace last season, with the game finishing in a draw by a 0-0 score.

Betfred offer Crystal Palace at 7/5, the Draw at 23/10 and 7/4 for Manchester United to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 9/2 that Jean-Philippe Mateta Scores First and 12/5 that Bruno Fernandes Scores Anytime.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

ASTON VILLA v WOLVES

14.05 in England

Sky Sports

Aston Villa moved up to 4th in the table with 21 points following a victory over Leeds United on Sunday.

Despite conceding an early goal to trail at half-time, Morgan Rogers scored twice in the 2nd-half to give Unai Emery’s men the points from a 2-1 scoreline.

The 2nd goal came from a sublime free kick.

Leeds always put in a shift and match any team for energy, however, they don’t have a goal scorer, with the goal against Villa being a messy deflection, so all a team needs to do against the Elland Rd outfit is match the levels and then eventually score to get the win.

Aston Villa host the Swiss team Young Boys at Villa Park on Thursday in Match Day-5 of the Europa League.

The New Manager Bounce didn’t work (as mentioned in last week’s column) after Rob Edwards took charge of Wolves for the first time against Crystal Palace at Molineux on Saturday.

Palace scored twice to inflict the defeat on Wolves by a 2-0 scoreline, as predicted in the EveryTip column.

That’s 5 straight defeats for Wolves, leaving Rob’s Gold and Blacks at the bottom of the table with 2 points from the 12 games played, also leaving Mr Edwards on his phone checking out the Train Times back to Middlesbrough.

Too late now Roberto!

You’ve made your bed, you’d better lie in it.

Aston Villa gained the home victory over Wolves in last season’s encounter between the two teams at Villa Park.

Matheus Cunha scored the opener in the 25th minute to give Wolves a lead at the break.

It was then the Aston Villa show with 2nd-half goals from Ollie Watkins, Ezri Konsa and Jhon Duran, giving Villa the points from a 3-1 scoreline.

Betfred offer Aston Villa at Odds On 1/2, the Draw at 3/1 and 5/1 for Wolves to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 3/1 that Ollie Watkins Scores First and 6/4 that Aston Villa Win To Nil.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

NOTTINGHAM FOREST v BRIGHTON

14.05 in England

Sky Sports

After waiting 55 years to get a victory over Liverpool at Anfield, like buses, another one came along in quick succession.

Forest smashed a very poor Liverpool team at the home of the Reds on Saturday, with goals from Murillo, Nicola Savona and Morgan Gibbs-White, giving Sean Dyche’s Tricky Trees back-to-back wins at Anfield, this time by a devastating 3-0 score.

The brilliant performance leaves Forest in 16th place with 12 points from the opening 12 games played.

Nottingham Forest are in European action on Thursday and host Malmo at the City Ground in the Europa League-League Phase.

The tie will evoke memories of the European Cup Final, which took place in May 1979 at the Olympic Stadium in Munich, where the Million Pound Man Trevor Francis scored the solitary winning goal to give Brian Clough’s Forest team the Trophy.

Forest defended the European Cup a year later, beating Kevin Keegan’s Hamburg team at the Bernabeu by the same 1-0 score, with John Robertson scoring the goal, making Forest duel European Cup Winners, despite only winning the English Division One Title (equivalent to the Premier League) once.

Brighton gained a home win over Brentford at the Amex on Saturday.

After conceding a 1st-half goal and trailing at the interval, Danny Welbeck and Jack Hinshelwood scored to put the Seagulls in front.

Brentford were then awarded a penalty in the 94th minute to try and snatch a point, however, the Bees’ Striker saw his tame spot-kick saved by Bart Verbruggen, leaving Brighton with the victory from a 2-1 score.

Brighton sit in 6th place with the same 19 points as Sunderland, both having played 12 times.

Nottingham Forest smashed Brighton in last season’s encounter between the two at the City Ground.

Goals from Lewis Dunk (OG), Morgan Gibbs-White, a Chris Wood hat-trick, Neco Williams and Jota Silva gave Nuno Espírito Santo’s Tricky Trees the astonishing victory over Fabian Hurzeler’s Seagulls by a 7 (Seven)-0 score.

Seven!

Betfred offer Nottingham Forest at 13/8, the Draw at 9/4 and 6/4 for Brighton to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 8/1 that Morgan Gibbs-White Scores First and 7/4 that Danny Welbeck Scores Anytime.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

WEST HAM v LIVERPOOL

14.05 in England

Sky Sports

West Ham snatched a draw from the jaws of victory against Bournemouth at the Vitality on Saturday.

One says that due to the ex-Cherry Callum Wilson scoring twice in the 1st-half to give the Hammers a lead at the interval.

Unfortunately, for the Bubbles in attendance, their idols conceded 2 goals in the 2nd-half to ultimately draw the game from a 2-2 scoreline.

The Archbishop was happy.

Nuno Espírito Santo has improved a poor West Ham team, who are now out of the drop zone, sitting in 17th place with the same 11 points as Leeds United, who drop into the relegation places due to goal difference.

‘Pool, Pool are falling apart again, Pool, Pool are falling apart again!’

Granted, that doesn’t have the same ring as the ‘Leeds United’ ditty but it offers up the question,

What is happening at Anfield?

Liverpool hadn’t lost against Nottingham Forest at their home ground in 55 years but now have suffered 2 defeats in successive seasons following Saturday’s loss against the Tricky Trees, this time by a 3-0 scoreline.

The inspirational Goalkeeper Alisson was back between the sticks after injury so it should have given the Defence a boost going into the game.

Milos Kerkez was at Left-Back in place of Andy Robertson who was still recovering from leading Scotland to the World Cup Finals in the USA, Mexico and Canada next year.

There is a Canadian soft drink called ‘Canada Dry’ which back in the day had an advertisement slogan of,

‘Drink Canada Dry!’

The Scots will not only drink Canada Dry but also the USA and Mexico next June and although the Scottish Team will be home before the postcards, the tournament will be a better one for their inclusion.

It won’t be ‘soft drinks’ either!

There was a brilliant headline in one of the newspapers that read,

‘Donald where’s your Boozers?’

Which is a play on words from the old Scottish ditty by Andy Stewart called,

‘Donald where’s your Troosers?’

Going back to Liverpool, it’s been discussed in previous EveryTip columns that Liverpool’s Defence look a lot more fragile if Conor Bradley and Andy Robertson are not playing, which although it is not an exact science, was borne out on Saturday against Forest.

Dominik Szoboszlai was at Righ-Back and Milos Kerkez was the preferred Left-Back option.

Ibrahima Konate and Vigil Van Dijk always look more nervous when these two are at the side of them.

Alexander Isak started and lasted an hour before being taken off so that has put minutes into the Strikers’ legs following a period on the sidelines.

That’s now 6 Wins and 6 Losses from the 12 Premier League games so far this season leaving Arne’s Poor Slots in 12th place with the same 18 points as Everton, Manchester United and Tottenham.

There obviously has to be an improvement or the murmurings will start about getting rid of Arne Slot.

Whilst the lad does have credit in the bank for winning last season’s Premier League, that credit can run out, so Mr Slot needs to get his team back on track pretty soon, otherwise it might be a trip to the Liverpool Job Centre.

Liverpool host PSV Eindhoven at Anfield on Wednesday in the Champions League-League Phase.

Liverpool gained the away-day victory over West Ham in last season’s affair at the London Stadium.

Goals from Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo, Mo Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and the late great Diogo Jota gave Arne’s Slot Machines the win over Julen Lopetegui’s Hammers by a 5-0 scoreline.

However, there’s cautionary note about this year’s game.

Julen Lopetegui wasn’t bothered about being the West Ham Manager and wanted to be sacked, plus last year’s Arne’s Liverpool Machines were a lot better than this year’s Slots.

Betfred offer West Ham at 18/5, the Draw at 16/5 and slight Odds On 3/5 for Liverpool to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 9/2 that Mo Salah Scores First and 6/5 that there are Over 3.5 Goals.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

CHELSEA v ARSENAL

16.30 in England

Sky Sports

Pedro Neto scored the opener against Burnley at Turf Moor last weekend in the early Saturday Afternoon kickoff.

A tip of ‘Pedro Neto To Score First’ was offered up in last week’s EveryTip column, with Odds of 7/1, so it’s hoped a few of the readers had a couple of quid on that, to help pay for the upcoming festivities, which no doubt will be expensive.

It appears nowadays that Christmas is about spending loads of money on rubbish presents just to try and appease a member of the family or friends.

It doesn’t have to be that way.

Enzo Fernandez scored in the 2nd-half to seal the victory by a 2-0 scoreline, which both were offered up as tips, along with Pedro Neto Scoring First, in this column last week.

(Chelsea To Score In Both Halves- 5/4 and Chelsea To Win 2-0- 6/1)

The professional away day win, lifted Chelsea to 2nd with 23 points from 12 fixtures completed.

That was before Man City’s defeat against Newcastle later in the day, leaving Chelsea in 2nd place after all of the weekend’s results.

Now 6 points behind today’s visitors, so the winner could potentially be 9 points ahead or just 3 points behind.

Both teams are in Champions League action this week, with Chelsea hosting Barcelona at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday and Arsenal entertaining Bayern Munich at the Emirates on Wednesday, so neither have to travel out of London.

Arsenal gained the expected home win over Tottenham at the Emirates on Sunday.

Goals from Leandro Trossard and an Eberechi Eze hat-trick gave Mikel’s Young Guns the victory over Thomas’s Spurs by a 4-1 scoreline.

Double E’s 3rd goal did spoil this EveryTip column’s prediction of a ‘3-1’ score, however, as mentioned previously, most Betting Companies offer a ‘Cash Out’ option so its hoped a few ‘Cashed Out’ at 3-1 and earned a couple of quid to pay for the PlayStation 5 or the Nintendo Switch which no doubt the kids are wanting for Christmas this year.

Arsenal sit at the summit with 29 points from the opening 12 games, which due to Man City losing on Saturday, means today’s hosts are the ones sitting in 2nd place with 23 points.

There’s still a long way to go but Arsenal are looking pretty good and are now firm favourites to win this season’s Premier League Title.

Both teams shared the points from a draw by a 1-1 score when Arsenal visited Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea last season.

After a goalless 1st-half, Gabriel Martinelli scored the opener on the hour mark to give Arsenal a lead.

The lead only lasted 10 minutes, with Pedro Neto scoring the equaliser for Chelsea and with no further goals, both teams gained a point apiece.

Betfred offer Chelsea at 21/10, the Draw at 9/4 and 6/5 for Arsenal to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 6/1 that Bukayo Saka Scores First and 4/1 that Pedro Neto Scores Anytime.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)
