WEST HAM v NOTTINGHAM FOREST

20.00 in England

The Nuno Espírito Santo Derby!

One says that, due to Nuno managing both teams this season, however, the Portuguese Gaffer may not be at the West Ham helm for much longer following Saturday’s devastating defeat against Wolves at Molineux.

Devastating in a number of ways, such as the performance, the result (a defeat by a 3-0 scoreline) and the fact that Wolves haven’t beaten anyone this season, until the Hammers show up in the Black Country.

That’s now 8 games without a win for West Ham with 4 draws and 4 losses, meaning a return of 4 points from a possible 24 on offer.

At the moment, Nuno is still the West Ham Boss but if a defeat occurs tonight against his old employers, it’s more than likely that the West Ham hierarchy will be looking for their third Manager of the season.

Those rumoured to be lined up to replace NES are the ex-Boss Slaven Bilic and the ex-Hammer Michael Carrick.

Watch this space.

The Hammers sit in 18th place with 14 points going into this home game against the Tricky Trees.

It’s now 4 defeats in a row and 6 losses in the last 8 Premier League games, for Sean Dyche and his Forest team, following Saturday’s defeat against Aston Villa in the midday Sunshine, albeit, cold Sunshine, at Villa Park.

After conceding 2-goals, Morgan Gibbs-White scored to halve the deficit, before a bit of an error from the Forest ‘Keeper John Victor, allowed Villa to score a 3rd and inflict the loss on Forest from a 3-1 score.

Nottingham Forest remain in 17th place with 18 points, 4 points more than today’s hosts, meaning a defeat tonight won’t change the league standings but will leave Forest closer to the relegation zone.

These two met in the Game Week-3 affair at the City Ground which saw Graham Potter’s West Ham team get the victory over Nuno Espírito Santo’s Forest.

Goals from Jarrod Bowen, Lucas Paqueta and Callum Wilson, all scored in the 2nd-half, gave the Hammers the away day win over the Tricky Trees by a 3-0 scoreline.

Nuno was then sacked by Evangelos Marinakis and is now the West Ham boss, who will surely be seeking revenge against his former boss.

Betfred offer West Ham at 21/10, the Draw at 12/5 and 11/8 for Nottingham Forest to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 6/1 that Jarrod Bowen Scores First and slight Odds On 10/11 that there are Under 2.5 Goals.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

BOURNEMOUTH v TOTTENHAM

19.30 in England

Bournemouth put in a great performance against Arsenal at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday Night but ultimately suffered a defeat against the Gunners from a 3-2 scoreline.

Evanilson took advantage of a mistake by Gabriel and scored to give Bournemouth a lead after 10 minutes.

Arsenal scored an equaliser in the 27th minute to take both teams in level at the break.

The Gunners came out stronger in the 2nd-half and scored twice before Eli Junior Kroupi got Bournemouth’s 2nd in the 77th minute.

Unfortunately for the Cherry faithful, that was the end of the goals leaving Bournemouth with another defeat.

That’s now 11 games without a win for the Cherries, with 5 draws and 6 losses in those 11 games.

Antoine Semenyo did play against Arsenal despite speculation about the Ghanaian leaving this week.

There’s supposedly a clause in Antoine’s contract that needs activating within the first 10 days of January.

Man City are expected to activate that clause by paying around £65 Million for Antoine but at the moment, that has not happened.

At least the lad is professional enough to continue playing for Bournemouth until told otherwise.

Unlike a few others that could be named.

Bournemouth sit in 15th place with 23 points from the 20 games completed which is only 9 points above the relegation zone, so an upturn in fortunes needs to happen sooner rather than later.

Tottenham gained a point from a draw by a 1-1 score against Sunderland at home on Sunday.

Ben Davies, who has hardly played this season, scored first to give Tottenham the lead, however, like a few teams this weekend, similar to bad dog walkers, Tottenham couldn’t hold onto the lead.

Man City, Fulham, Leeds United and Bournemouth, along with Tottenham, all scored first, however, all couldn’t hold onto the lead and ultimately came away with a draw in City’s, Fulham, Tottenham and Leeds’ case and a defeat in Bournemouth’s case.

Sunderland scored an equaliser in the 80th minute to give both teams a point apiece.

The draw leaves Tottenham in 13th place with the same 27 points as Crystal Palace from the opening 20 games completed.

A friend of John Newsome’s (one still has some) stated that Thomas Frank could be the next Manager to be sacked.

Whilst there isn’t any evidence to say Thomas will be sacked, one cannot argue with the friend’s statement.

The fixture at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium back in August, saw Bournemouth get the away day victory over Tottenham by a 1-0 scoreline.

Evanilson with the solitary winning goal, scored in the 5th minute.

Betfred offer Bournemouth at 11/10, the Draw at 11/4 and 12/5 for Tottenham to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 9/2 that Eli Junior Kroupi Scores First and 5/1 that Bournemouth Win Both Halves.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

BRENTFORD v SUNDERLAND

19.30 in England

Brentford played in one of the best games over the weekend, gaining an away-day victory over Everton at the Hill Dickinson Stadium by a 4-2 scoreline.

Igor Thiago scored a hat-trick along with a Nathan Collins goal to give the Bees the brilliant win.

Everton scored their goals when the score was 3-0 and 4-1 in favour of Brentford.

Brentford sit in 7th place with the same 30 points as today’s visitors from the opening 20 games.

Sunderland are back in London following the drawn game against Tottenham at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday.

After Tottenham scored in the 1st-half, Brian Brobbey got the equaliser in the 80th minute to give both teams a share of the points from a 1-1 score.

After all of the Game Week-20 results, Sunderland sit in 8th place with the same 30 points as today’s hosts.

Sunderland will likely stay in the Capital following Sunday’s game, as it is a fair old ride back up the road to turn around and come back.

One wonders if the Black Cats’ faithful will stay in London too?

It was Sunderland who gained the home win over Brentford when the two met at the Stadium of Light back in August.

After a goalless 1st-half, Igor Thiago scored for Brentford to give the Bees a lead in the 77th minute.

Kevin Schade had missed a penalty on the hour mark.

It was then the Sunderland show, with goals from Enzo Le Fee (penalty) and Wilson Isidor giving the Black Cats the victory over the Bees by a 2-1 score.

Betfred offer Brentford at slight Odds On 5/6, the Draw at 13/5 and 7/2 for Sunderland to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 3/1 that Igor Thiago Scores First and 15/8 that Brentford Win To Nil.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

CRYSTAL PALACE v ASTON VILLA

19.30 in England

Crystal Palace suffered a defeat against Newcastle at St James Park on Sunday.

The loss from a 2-0 scoreline (as predicted in this EveryTip column) is the 4th out of the last 5 Premier League games, the other being a draw, meaning just 1 point gained from a possible 15.

Oliver Glasner needs to sort that slump out before it becomes a relegation battle.

Palace sit in 14th place with the same 27 points as Tottenham, both having completed 20 games.

Aston Villa got back to winning ways on Saturday, following the defeat against Arsenal last year.

One says last year, however, it was only 4 days previous but that’s how Old and New Year’s work.

Ollie Watkins scored on the stroke of half-time, to give Villa the lead at the break against Nottingham Forest at Villa Park on Saturday.

John McGinn then scored twice to give Unai Emery’s Claret and Blues the victory over Sean Dyche’s Tricky Trees by a 3-1 scoreline.

Forest did score after John’s first to halve the deficit before Mr McGinn added his 2nd and Villa’s 3rd.

The win lifted Aston Villa to 2nd temporarily, until Man City played their game on Sunday and got a draw against Chelsea.

Villa dropped back to 3rd but because of City’s draw, now have the same 42 points as Pep’s Blues from the opening 20 games played.

Both teams are now 6 points adrift of Arsenal at the summit.

Crystal Palace gained the victory over Aston Villa at Villa Park back in the Game Week-3 encounter.

Goals from Jean-Philippe Mateta, Marc Guehi and Ismaila Sarr gave Oliver’s Army the points from a 3-0 scoreline.

Betfred offer Crystal Palace at 2/1, the Draw at 12/5 and 7/5 for Aston Villa to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 5/1 that Jean-Philippe Mateta Scores First and 8/5 that Ollie Watkins Scores Anytime.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

EVERTON v WOLVES

19.30 in England

Beto and Thierno Barry scored for Everton against Brentford on Sunday.

Unfortunately for the Toffee faithful in attendance at the New Stadium, the Bees scored 4, to inflict the defeat on Everton from a 4-2 scoreline.

Everton sit in 12th place with the same 28 points as Fulham and Brighton having all completed 20 games.

Do not adjust one’s reading implements, Wolves gained a victory on Saturday, repeat, Wolves, who have not won all season, got a victory on Saturday, against West Ham at Molineux.

After gaining a point from a draw against Manchester United in the previous outing, Rob Edwards’ Gold and Blacks went one better and inflicted a defeat on a sorry set of Hammers by a 3-0 scoreline.

Jhon Arias, Hwang-Hee Chan and Matheus Mane all scored before the half-time cup of tea to give Wolves a famous victory after a 19-game winless run.

Wolves remain at the foot of the Premier League table, with 6 points from the 20 games played.

The question now is, can Wolves make it 3 unbeaten games in a row, following this tricky trip to the Hill Dickinson Stadium?

This was a 5 goal thriller when the two met at Molineux back in August.

Beto and Iliman Ndiaye scored for the Toffees in the 1st-half, with Hwang-Hee Chan equalising Beto’s opener.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall added a 3rd for Everton just after the restart, which ultimately was the winner giving David Moyes’ Boys the victory over Vitor Pereira’s Gold and Blacks from a 3-2 scoreline.

Rodrigo Gomes did score a 2nd for Wolves in the 79th minute, however, Everton held on for the win.

Betfred offer Everton at slight Odds On 4/5, the Draw at 13/5 and 4/1 for Wolves to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 9/2 that Beto Scores First and 7/4 that Everton Win To Nil.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

FULHAM v CHELSEA

19.30 in England

The West London Derby.

It looked like Fulham had suffered a defeat against Liverpool at Craven Cottage on Sunday, when the away team scored in the 94th minute to take a 2-1 lead.

Harry Wilson had scored the opening goal which was equalised by Liverpool to make the score level at 90 minutes.

Liverpool then scored what appeared to be the winner, right up until Harrison Reed scored a beauty in the 97th minute to grab a draw from the jaws of defeat.

The point gained from a 2-2 scoreline, leaves Fulham in 11th place with the same 28 points as Everton and Brighton having all played 20 times.

Chelsea themselves, snatched a draw from the jaws of defeat against Man City at the Etihad on Sunday.

After City had scored to take a lead at half-time, the game looked to be heading for a home win, up to the point when Enzo Fernandez scored an equaliser in the 94th minute, to earn a point from a draw by a 1-1 score.

Manager-less Chelsea, who are set to appoint Liam Rosenior this week, were under the guidance of Calum McFarlane, who started the week as the Chelsea Under/21s Coach and finished it by matching Pep Guardiola as the Chelsea Interim Manager.

Nice one Calum.

Chelsea stay in 5th place with the same 31 points as Manchester United having both completed 20 games so far.

Chelsea gained the away-day victory over Fulham at Craven Cottage in Game Week-3 back in August.

A goal from Joao Pedro and an Enzo Fernandez converted penalty gave Enzo Maresca’s Blues the win over Marco Silva’s Cottagers by a 2-0 scoreline.

Betfred offer Fulham at 5/2, the Draw at 13/5 and 11/10 for Chelsea to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 15/2 that Harry Wilson Scores First and 7/4 that Cole Palmer Scores Anytime.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

MAN CITY v BRIGHTON

19.30 in England

The Citizens in attendance at the Etihad and those watching at home on the Telly, all held their head in their hands after Man City conceded a 94th-minute equaliser to snatch a draw from the jaws of victory.

Tijjani Reijnders had scored just before the half-time break which gave City momentum for the 2nd-half.

Unfortunately for everyone connected with Man City, Pep’s Blues couldn’t add to the scoring which allowed Chelsea to push on for an equaliser which eventually came, leaving City with a point from a draw by a 1-1 score.

Following Arsenal’s win on Saturday, Man City are now 6 points adrift of the Gunners, sitting in 2nd place with the same 42 points as Aston Villa.

Brighton got a professional home win over Burnley at the Amex on Saturday.

A goal in each half, from Georginio Rutter (1st) and Yasin Ayari (2nd) gave Fabian Hurzeler’s Seagulls the victory over Scott Parker’s Clarets by a 2-0 scoreline, as predicted in this EveryTip column last week.

The victory stopped a 6-game winless streak to get Brighton back on track.

Brighton sit in 10th place with the same 28 points as Fulham and Everton from 20 games completed.

Brighton stunned Man City at the Amex back in August.

Erling Haaland scored first to give City a lead at the break.

It was then the Seagulls who swooped in and nicked all 3 points from a victory over Pep’s Blues by a 2-1 scoreline.

James Milner converted a penalty to equalise against his old mates, before Brajan Gruda scored the winner in the 89th minute

Betfred offer Man City at Odds On 2/5, the Draw at 4/1 and 13/2 for Brighton to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 11/5 that Erling Haaland Scores First and 2/1 that Man City Win Both Halves.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

BURNLEY v MANCHESTER UNITED

20.15 in England

Burnley suffered their 9th defeat from the last 11 games on Saturday, this time against Brighton at the Amex.

The other 2 games were drawn, meaning just 2 points gained from a possible 33.

What was significant from the loss against the Seagulls by a 2-0 scoreline, was that Burnley were terrible and Brighton didn’t need to get out of second gear to gain the victory.

Scott Parker is a decent bloke but despite playing for England (one’s no idea how or why) is a very pragmatic Manager just like he was as a player.

In those games for the Three Lions, Scott would get the ball off Rio Ferdinand (other Centre-Backs are available) and pass it to John Terry (other Centre-Backs are available) then repeat this throughout the 90 minutes, or the time the lad was on the pitch, basically not going anywhere but having brilliant passing stats, making the McDonald’s Boy look better than what Scott actually was.

Mr Parker’s Management career is much the same, very pragmatic.

The lad can get a team promoted from the Championship as his pragmatism works in that particular league but can’t push on in the Premier League.

Fulham, Bournemouth and now Burnley have all been promoted from the Championship under Scott but he never stays in the Premier League too long, either being sacked before the end of the season (Bournemouth) or being immediately relegated (Fulham).

One of the two will more than likely happen this time with Burnley, either Scott will be sacked before the end of the campaign or Burnley will be relegated after one season.

Burnley sit in 19th place with 12 points from the 20 games completed.

Manchester United gained an away day point from a draw by a 1-1 score against Leeds United at Elland Rd on Sunday.

After a goalless 1st-half, Leeds scored in the 62nd minute to take the lead, however, that lead only lasted 3 minutes with Matheus Cunha scoring United’s equaliser in the 65th.

With no further goals, both teams shared the points.

The game was a reflection of just where Manchester United are at the moment, taking on a newly promoted team and not really having any success.

In truth, the newly promoted Leeds team were the better side but they themselves are just bang average.

United sit in 6th place with the same 31 points as Chelsea from the opening 20 games played.

The surprise in the reverse fixture at Old Trafford was that it took a 97th-minute converted penalty from Bruno Fernandes to earn Manchester United the victory over Burnley from a 3-2 scoreline.

Josh Cullen was credited with an Own Goal to give United a lead at the break.

Lyle Foster equalised for Burnley just after the restart, before Bryan Mbeumo reestablished United’s lead by adding a 2nd in the 57th minute.

Jaidon Anthony scored to once again equalise for Fulham and that was that until the 97th minute when Bruno broke the Burnley hearts, scoring the winner to give United all 3 points.

Betfred offer Burnley at 18/5, the Draw at 3/1 and slight Odds On 8/11 for Manchester United to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 9/2 that Benjamin Sesko Scores First and 2/1 that Manchester United Win To Nil.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

Away Win 0-2- Get 8/1 on Betfred & Claim your new account welcome offer!

NEWCASTLE v LEEDS UNITED

20.15 in England

Newcastle gained the expected victory over Crystal Palace at St James Park on Sunday.

After a tricky 70 minutes or so without finding a goal, Bruno Guimaraes and Malick Thiaw scored to give the Magpies the home win by a 2-0 scoreline, as predicted in this EveryTip column last week.

Newcastle sit in 9th place with 29 points from the opening 20 games played.

Leeds United gained a great point from a draw by a 1-1 score against Manchester United at Elland Rd on Sunday.

Whilst the Manchester United performance could be seen as poor and Leeds as great, that’s just because of where both teams have been over the past few years.

Leeds are newly promoted and took on an average Manchester United team, which, if one didn’t know, one couldn’t tell who had just been promoted and who was the established Premier League club.

After a goalless 1st-half, Brenden Aaronson scored to give the home side a lead.

Unfortunately for the West Yorkshire Puddings in attendance, their White Idols couldn’t hold onto the lead for long and conceded a Manchester United goal 3 minutes later.

With no further goals, both teams shared the points.

Daniel Farke’s side have improved tremendously over the last few weeks, significantly with the inclusion of a fit Dominic Calvert-Lewin and if the standard stays at this level, Leeds should be able to keep away from the relegation zone with at least 3 other teams worse than the Elland Rd outfit.

Leeds sit in 16th place with 22 points from the 20 fixtures completed.

The Game Week-3 encounter between these two at Elland Rd, failed to produce any goals with both teams gaining a point from a draw by a 0-0 score.

Betfred offer Newcastle at Odds On 8/11, the Draw at 11/4 and 4/1 for Leeds United to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 9/2 that Yoane Wissa Scores First and 6/4 that Newcastle Score in Both Halves.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

Thursday 08th

ARSENAL v LIVERPOOL

20.00 in England

Arsenal start the New Year as they finished last year off by gaining a victory, this time against Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday evening.

The Gunners were made to work to get the win, with Bournemouth scoring first, due to a mistake from the Big Centre-Back Gabriel.

Gabriel made up for his error by scoring the equaliser to take both teams in level at the break.

Declan Rice then scored twice in the 2nd-half to give Arsenal a lead, however, that wasn’t the end of the goals, with the Cherries scoring a 2nd in the 77th minute to make it a nervy last 15 minutes or so for the Gooners in attendance.

Arsenal held on for the win from a 3-2 scoreline, which was the 5th Premier League victory in a row, since the defeat against Aston Villa at the beginning of December.

Mikel’s Young Guns stay at the summit with 48 points from 20 games played, now 6 points ahead of Man City in 2nd and Aston Villa in 3rd, who both have 42 points.

Fourth-placed Liverpool are a massive 14 points adrift which would mean Arsenal had to lose 5 times and Liverpool win on those 5 occasions for Arne’s Slots to be ahead of the Gunners.

That’s unlikely to happen, so it’s probably just Man City and Aston Villa that will compete for the title along with Arsenal.

Liverpool gained a point from a draw by a 2-2 score against Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday.

After Fulham had scored the opening goal to lead at the break, Florian Wirtz scored an equaliser just before the hour mark.

With time up on the clock, Coady Gakpo scored what appeared to be the winner in the 94th minute, however, Fulham were having none of it and scored an equaliser in the 97th to snatch a draw from the jaws of defeat.

As Chris ‘Kammy’ Kamara would say,

Unbelievable Jeff!

That’s back-to-back draws for Liverpool leaving Arne’s Slot Machines in 4th place with 34 points for the 20 games played.

There are a few murmurings regarding Arne Slot, with some of the Anfield Rappers questioning whether the Dutchman has a future on Merseyside.

For the time being, it appears that Arne will keep his job, especially having spent somewhere near £450 Million.

Liverpool face Barnsley in the FA Cup following this fixture against Arsenal.

John Newsome wrote a book entitled ‘Three Days At Anfield’ which is available on Amazon.

It tells the story of John’s three trips to watch Barnsley face Liverpool at Anfield over his 56-year lifetime and never seeing his beloved Barnsley side lose.

1982- Liverpool v Barnsley 0-0
1997- Liverpool v Barnsley 0-1
2008- Liverpool v Barnsley 1-2

Will there be a fourth trip without losing?

At the moment, with the way Liverpool are playing, it’s not beyond the possibility that another chapter can be added to the book.

Four Days At Anfield!

A single Dominik Szoboszlai goal, scored in the 83rd minute, gave Liverpool the home win over Arsenal, when the two met at Anfield back in August.

One suggests it might be another home win tonight.

Betfred offer Arsenal at slight Odds On 8/13, the Draw at 16/5 and 9/2 for Liverpool to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 5/1 that Bukayo Saka Scores First and 3/1 that Arsenal Win Both Halves.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)
