Game Week-23

Saturday 24th

This set of fixtures is the reverse of Game Week-1, which kicked off the 2025/26 campaign over the weekend of 15th, 16th, 17th, and 18th of August.

WEST HAM v SUNDERLAND

12.30 in England

TNT Sports

West Ham won the ‘Clash of the Useless Londoners’ gaining a victory over Tottenham at the New Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday.

Goals from Crysencio Summerville and Callum Wilson gave Nuno’s Hammers the win over Thomas’s Spurs from a 2-1 scoreline.

Tottenham did equalise Crysencio’s
opener and the game looked set for a draw until Callum popped up with the winner in the 93rd minute.

There was speculation that Callum Wilson as had his contract terminated but for the time being, Mr Wilson is still a Hammer.

The lad will score goals if he can remain injury-free, which hasn’t happened much over the last few years.

West Ham remain in the relegation zone, sitting in 18th place with 17 points from the opening 22 games completed.

What was significant regarding the weekend’s results, was that none of the Top Four won and none of the Bottom Six lost.

The Hammers are now 5 points away from safety, with the safe team being Nuno’s old club Nottingham Forest, so that will definitely be an incentive to carry on winning and chase down the Tricky Trees.

Sunderland continued their brilliant performances in the Premier League at their Stadium of Light home, securing another victory on Saturday, this time against Crystal Palace by a 2-1 scoreline.

After conceding an Eagles goal, Enzo Le Fee equalised for the Black Cats to take both teams in level at the break and make the half-time pie a satisfying one for the home faithful.

Brian Brobbey then scored the Sunderland winner in the 71st minute to give Regis Le Bris’ team the points from their 6th home victory of the season, with 5 drawn games in the others, making the Black Cats unbeaten in 11 fixtures at the Stadium of Light.

Sunderland sit in 9th place with the same 33 points as Newcastle and Brentford, all having completed 22 games so far.

Back in August, this game at the Stadium of Light started slowly with no goals in the first hour.

It was then the Sunderland show, with goals from Eliezer Mayenda, Dan Ballard and Wilson Isidor giving Regis Le Bris’ Black Cats the home victory over Graham Potter’s Hammers from a 3-0 scoreline.

Betfred offer West Ham at 7/5, the Draw at 11/5 and 15/8 for Sunderland to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 5/1 that Jarrod Bowen Scores First and 9/4 that there are Under 1.5 Goals.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

BURNLEY v TOTTENHAM

15.00 in England

Burnley frustrated Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday, gaining a brilliant away-day point from a draw by a 1-1 score.

After conceding a Reds goal just before half-time, it did appear that Liverpool would come out strong in the 2nd-half and overrun Burnley.

Liverpool had missed a penalty in the 32nd minute, which could have made the deficit 2 at the break.

However, it was Burnley who were the better team after the interval, with Marcus Edwards scoring a Claret goal just after the hour mark.

With no further goals, Burnley gained a point at the home of the Premier League Champions.

Maybe Scott Parker had watched Liverpool struggle against Barnsley in the FA Cup the previous Monday and set up his Clarets something like how the Super Reds of Oakwell performed.

Burnley remain in 19th place with 14 points from 22 games played.

That is still 8 points from safety but all Scott’s Clarets can do is keep putting in the performances akin to the one at Anfield on Saturday.

Tottenham are struggling at the moment, with the latest outing ending in a defeat against fellow strugglers and fellow Londoners West Ham, at home on Saturday.

After conceding a Hammers goal and trailing at the break, Cristian Romero scored an equaliser just after the hour mark.

When it appeared that a draw was on the cards, West Ham scored the winner in the 93rd minute to knock the stuffing out of the Lilywhites in attendance.

The loss also heaped more pressure on Thomas Frank with rumours that the ex-Bee Boss would be sacked over the weekend, however, following a meeting between the hierarchy and Thomas on Sunday, Mr Frank is still in a job for the time being and will oversee the midweek Champions League game.

Tottenham host Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Both teams have 11 points in that particular competition, so a victory for either will see a jump into the qualifying zone of the League Phase.

Probably one of the questions to ask as to why TF hasn’t been sacked just yet, is, who is going to come in as the Next Manager?

There needs to be some improvement over the next couple of games or the ‘who’ will probably be found.

Tottenham gained a home win over Burnley at the New Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the opening game of the season.

A goal in each half from Richarlison, plus a Brennan Johnson strike gave Thomas Frank’s Spurs the points from a 3-0 score.

Betfred offer Burnley at 13/5, the Draw at 23/10 and Evens 1/1 for Tottenham to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 12/1 that Pape Matar Sarr Scores First and that Tottenham Win To Nil.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

FULHAM v BRIGHTON

15.00 in England

It did appear that Fulham had held on for a draw against Leeds at Elland Rd on Saturday, when the clock showed that 90 minutes were up.

Unfortunately, for the Travelling Cottagers who had made the long trip North, Leeds scored the solitary winning goal in the 91st minute to inflict the defeat on Fulham by a 1-0 scoreline.

Marco Silva wasn’t happy.

That said, the lad rarely is and always looks as if he’s lost a fiver and found a button.

Fulham sit in 11th place with 31 points from the opening 22 games played.

Brighton drew against Bournemouth at the Amex on Monday Night Football.

A dubious penalty decision given by the dreaded VAR gave the away team the opportunity to take the lead after 32 minutes.

Initially, the on-field referee Paul Tierney said the Bournemouth player had dived and gave him a Yellow Card.

The Stockley Park brigade wanted to get involved and advised Paul that the Brighton ‘Keeper Bart Verbruggan had fouled the Cherry Striker and after checking the monitor, Mr Tierney changed his original decision, took back the Yellow Card and awarded a penalty.

Bournemouth converted the penalty to take a lead at the break.

Brighton left it late, very late, with Charalampos Kostoulas scoring a brilliant over head kick in the 91st minute to help the Seagulls gain a point from a 1-1 scoreline.

That leaves Brighton in 12th place with 30 points having completed 22 games.

Both teams shared the points from a draw by a 1-1 score, in the Game Week-1 affair at the Amex.

After a goalless 1st-half, a converted penalty from Matt O’Riley gave Brighton the lead and what appeared to be the winner until Rodrigo Muniz scored the Fulham equaliser in the 97th minute to give both teams a point apiece.

Betfred offer Fulham at 6/4, the Draw at 9/4 and 13/8 for Brighton to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 13/2 that Harry Wilson Scores First and 12/5 that Fulham Score in Both Halves.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

MAN CITY v WOLVES

15.00 in England

Man City were hammered by Manchester United at Old Trafford in the early kickoff on Saturday.

In truth, Pep Guardiola got his team selection wrong and thought that a struggling United team would be an easy target, however, Pep underestimated the ‘Super Michael Carrick’ phenomenon.

Michael has been appointed as the Interim Manager of Manchester United for the remainder of the season.

Mr Guardiola’s Noisy Neighbours were outplayed by the Numpty Neighbours with City suffering a defeat by a 2-0 scoreline.

Pep picked Rico Lewis, Abdukodir Khusanov, Max Alleyne and Nathan Ake as the Back Four.

Granted City have got a few players missing through injury, such as Ruben Dias and Josko Gvardiol, however, the back line against United were too inexperienced and not good enough.

The front 6 didn’t produce much and United had them in their pockets.

Super Michael did a number on Pep.

Probably the only saving grace from a poor performance and a defeat was that none of the Top Four won.

That leaves Man City in 2nd place with the same 43 points as Aston Villa (who also lost), both now 7 points adrift of Arsenal (who managed a draw) at the summit.

City have signed Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace, paying £20 Million for the England Eagle who, considering the injuries for the City Defenders, will probably be thrust straight into the team.

If John Stones can get back fit, Man City may just have the Centre-Back pairing that will play for England at this year’s World Cup.

Man City head to Norway on Tuesday to take on Bodo/Klimt in Match Day-6 of the Champions League-League Phase.

With 2 games remaining in that particular competition, City look set to finish in the Top 8 and qualify automatically for the knockout stages in March.

Wolves are now unbeaten in the last 4 Premier League games, following a draw against Newcastle at Molineux on Sunday.

Both teams failed to find the back of the net, giving both a point apiece from a 0-0 scoreline.

Wolves remain at the foot of the table with 8 points from the 22 fixtures completed.

Man City gained the away-day win against Wolves at Molineux in the opening game of the season.

Erling Haaland and Tijjani Reijnders scored City’s goals in the 1st-half, with Erling and Rayan Cherki adding the 2nd-half goals to give Pep’s High Flying Blues the victory from a 4-0 scoreline.

Betfred offer Man City at Odds On 2/11, the Draw at 11/2 and 12/1 for Wolves to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 13/8 that Erling Haaland Scores Two Plus Goals and Evens 1/1 that Man City Win To Nil.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

BOURNEMOUTH v LIVERPOOL

17.30 in England

Sky Sports

Bournemouth gained a point from a draw by a 1-1 score, against Brighton at the Amex on Monday.

When Amine Adil went through on goal and was tripped in the area, the on-field referee Paul Tierney pulled out a Yellow Card and booked Amine for diving.

On second/third and tenth looking at the incident, the dreaded VAR advised Paul to look at the pitch side monitor.

Once this occurred, Paul changed his mind, took back the Yellow Card and awarded Bournemouth a penalty.

Marcus Tavernier converted the spot kick to give the Cherries a lead at the break against the Seagulls.

With no further goals as the clock ticked over 90 minutes, it appeared that a Bournemouth win was on the cards.

Not so, Brighton scored an equaliser in the 91st minute to snatch a draw from the jaws of defeat.

That leaves Bournemouth in 15th place with the same 27 points as Tottenham from the 22 games on offer.

Liverpool gained a point from a draw by a 1-1 score against Burnley at Anfield on Saturday.

Dominik Szoboszlai saw his penalty kick smash against the crossbar, which if converted would and should have given Liverpool a lead after half an hour.

Florian Wirtz scored just before the break to settle the nerves of the Anfield Rappers.

However, despite the Reds leading going into the 2nd-half, it was the away team that came out stronger, with Burnley scoring an equaliser just after the hour mark.

With no further goals, both teams gained a point apiece.

Arne’s Stuttering Slots sit in 4th place with 36 points from 22 games completed.

That is only a point more than Manchester United and considering Super Michael Carrick is back at Old Trafford, the Scousers should be concerned that United will overtake Liverpool in the coming weeks.

Liverpool head to France on Wednesday to take on Marseille in the Champions League-League Phase.

A certain Mason Greenwood will be on show for the French team, who is scoring goals for fun this season, having 12 from 17 games in Ligue 1 and 3 from 6 in the Champions League.

The opening day fixture between these two at Anfield, produced a 6-goal thriller, with Liverpool gaining the victory over Bournemouth from a 4-2 scoreline.

The goals going in as follows-

37′ Hugo Ekitike- (Liverpool 1-0)

Half-Time Bowl of Scouse and Bottle of Coke.

49′ Coady Gakpo- (Liverpool 2-0)
64′ Antoine Semenyo- (Bournemouth 2-1)
76′ Antoine Semenyo- (Bournemouth 2-2)
88′ Federico Chiesa- (Liverpool 3-2)
90+4′ Mo Salah- (Liverpool 4-2)

Full-Time Zinger Burger and Glass of Vimto.

Betfred offer Bournemouth at 13/5, the Draw at 11/4 and slight Odds On 9/10 for Liverpool to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 13/2 that Eli Junior Kroupi Scores First and 6/5 that Mo Salah Scores Anytime.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

BRENTFORD v NOTTINGHAM FOREST

14.00 in England

Sky Sports

Brentford suffered a defeat by a 2-0 scoreline against fellow West Londoners Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

The Bees are stronger at home and just came up against a revitalised Blues team who are under the guidance of a New Manager, so the loss needs to be quickly put to bed to concentrate on this fixture today.

Brentford sit in 7th place with the same 33 points as Newcastle and Sunderland, all having completed 22 games.

Nottingham Forest frustrated Arsenal in the late Saturday Afternoon kickoff, to leave Sean Dyche’s Tricky Trees with a brilliant point from a draw by a 0-0 score, or as some might say, a goalless draw.

Forest remain in 17th place with 22 points from 22 games played, which is now 5 points above the relegation zone, following West Ham’s victory on Saturday.

Forest head to Portugal on Thursday to take on Braga in Match Day-7 of the Europa League-League Phase.

Forest are comfortably in the 9-24 zone and are guaranteed at least a qualifying game, however, with 2 games remaining, will want to make the Top 8, to avoid those 2 extra fixtures in February.

Nuno Espírito Santo’s Forest team gained the home victory over Keith Andrews’ Brentford team when these two met at the City Ground back in August 2025.

Chris Wood scored twice added to a Dan Ndoye goal gave the Tricky Trees a lead at the break.

Igor Thiago scored for the Bees in the 2nd-half but with no further goals, Forest got the win from a 3-1 scoreline.

Betfred offer Brentford at 21/20, the Draw at 23/10 and 5/2 for Nottingham Forest to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 10/3 that Igor Thiago Scores First and 23/10 that Brentford Win To Nil.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

CRYSTAL PALACE v CHELSEA

14.00 in England

Sky Sports

Crystal Palace are now winless out of the 10 previous games in all competitions, with 5 Premier League defeats out of the last 7, the other 2 being drawn.

Added to those Top Flight games, Palace, were knocked out of the Carabao Cup, suffering a penalty shootout loss against Arsenal in the Quarter-Final.

Also Palace, who remember, are the holders of the FA Cup, were knocked out in the 3rd-Round of that competition by Macclesfield.

The 10th winless game was a draw in the Europa Conference League.

Oliver Glasner has confirmed that he is leaving Selhurst Park at the end of the season when his contract expires.

One suggests that it will probably happen sooner as the players will down tools knowing Oliver is leaving.

Marc Guehi has been sold, with Palace gaining £20 Million, which some would say is good business, considering Marc could have left for nothing at the end of the season.

That said, Palace seem to be letting go of their top talent, which begs the question, will Jean-Philippe Mateta be the next one to exit Selhurst Park?

Another question is, who is going to be the next Manager?

Watch this space.

Palace sit in 13th place with 28 points from the opening 22 games played.

Although there’s European action this week, Crystal Palace don’t play as the Europa Conference League has finished for the time being, with the knockout playoffs starting in February where Palace will play the Bosnia and Herzegovina team Zrinjski in a 2-legged affair.

Chelsea got a victory over Brentford at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, in Liam Rosenior’s first Premier League game in charge.

Liam had overseen the defeat against Arsenal in the 1st-leg of the Carabao Cup Semi-Final where the Blues trail 3-2 going into the 2nd-leg at the Emirates.

On Saturday, against the Bees, goals from Joao Pedro and Cole Palmer (penalty) gave Chelsea the win from a 2-0 scoreline.

Chelsea sit in 6th place with 34 points from the 22 games on offer.

Chelsea host the Cypriot team Pafos in the penultimate Champions League-League Phase game at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday.

It appeared that the season kicked off a bit too early when these two met at Stamford Bridge in the middle of August 2025.

Both teams failed to score, leaving Chelsea and Crystal Palace with a point from a draw by a 0-0 score.

One suggests there will be goals today.

Betfred offer Crystal Palace at 5/2, the Draw at 5/2 and slight Odds On 19/20 for Chelsea to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 5/1 that Cole Palmer Scores First and 9/2 that Chelsea Win Both Halves.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

NEWCASTLE v ASTON VILLA

14.00 in England

Sky Sports

After 3 straight wins in the Premier League, Newcastle gained a point from a draw by a 0-0 score, against Wolves at Molineux on Sunday.

There’s not much else to say about that particular game.

Newcastle sit in 8th place with the same 33 points as Sunderland and Brentford, all having completed 22 games.

Both teams are in European action this week, with Newcastle hosting PSV Eindhoven at St James Park in Match Day-6 of the Champions League.

Newcastle currently sit in the 9-24 zone of the League Phase but are only 2 points adrift of qualification for the knockout stages without playing 2 extra games.

Aston Villa face Fenerbahce in Turkey on Thursday in the Europa League-League Phase.

Villa are currently in 3rd place in that league and have comfortably qualified for the knockout stages.

Aston Villa suffered a surprise home defeat against Everton on Sunday.

After watching Man City lose against Manchester United and Arsenal only managing a draw against Nottingham Forest, Unai Emery’s Claret and Blues had the opportunity to overtake City and close the gap on Arsenal at the summit.

Unfortunately, the loss against Everton by a 1-0 score, leaves Villa in 3rd place with the same 43 points as Man City, both now 7 points adrift of Arsenal at the summit.

As with the Chelsea v Crystal Palace game, Aston Villa and Newcastle also failed to score in the opener at Villa Park, leaving both with a point apiece from a 0-0 draw.

Ezri Konsa was shown a straight Red Card just after the hour mark, leaving Villa a man down for the remainder of the game.

Betfred offer Newcastle at slight Odds On 19/20, the Draw at 13/5 and 12/5 for Aston Villa to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 6/1 that Anthony Gordon Scores First and 7/4 that Ollie Watkins Scores Anytime.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

ARSENAL v MANCHESTER UNITED

16.30 in England

Sky Sports

Arsenal gained a point from a draw by a 0-0 score, against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on Saturday.

Note ‘gained a point’ as despite the constant hype that it’s ‘lost 2 points’ Arsenal started the day with 49 points and ended the day with 50 points.

What the media hype is trying to say is that, due to Man City suffering a defeat against Manchester United earlier in the day, Arsenal could have been a massive 9 points ahead of City if a victory occurred over Forest.

The gap is now 7 points between Arsenal and both Man City and Aston Villa.

Arsenal head to Milan on Tuesday to face Inter at the San Siro, in Match Day-6 of the Champions League-League Phase.

Arsenal are currently at the summit of that particular league too and have comfortably qualified for the knockout stages that start in March.

Manchester United, under the guidance of Super Michael Carrick smashed Man City in the early kickoff on Saturday.

In truth, United were just too good for City in all departments and Mr Carrick out-thought Mr Guardiola to inflict the defeat on the Noisy Neighbours by a 2-0 scoreline.

Bryan Mbeumo and Patrick Dorgu with the goals.

Added to those, United had 3 goals disallowed by the dreaded VAR and were denied a few following several great saves by Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Michael Carrick was the preferred choice of this EveryTip contributor with most regular readers knowing John Newsome’s admiration for the boy.

United, who sit in 5th place with 35 points, now have a great chance to push on for a Top Four finish, considering that there are no other games than the Premier League fixtures due to being knocked out of the FA Cup.

Arsenal gained the opening day victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford back in August.

A single Riccardo Calafiori goal, scored in the 13th minute, gave Mikel’s Young Guns the win over Ruben’s Reds from a 1-0 score.

Betfred offer Arsenal at slight Odds On 3/5, the Draw at 3/1 and 4/1 for Manchester United to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 11/2 that Bukayo Saka Scores First and 18/5 that Bruno Fernandes Scores Anytime.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

EVERTON v LEEDS UNITED

20.00 in England

Sky Sports

Everton gained a great away-day victory over Aston Villa at Villa Park on Sunday.

Thierno Barry scored the only goal of the game, to give the Toffees the win from a 1-0 scoreline.

Everton sit in 10th place with 32 points from the 22 games played.

Leeds United left it very late to snatch a victory from the jaws of a draw against Fulham on Saturday.

After a goalless 90 minutes at Elland Rd and a draw looking likely, Lukas Nmecha popped up with the winner in the 91st to give Leeds the points from a 1-0 scoreline and knock the stuffing out of the Travelling Cottagers.

Leeds sit in 16th place with 25 points from the 22 fixtures played.

The West Yorkshire Puddings all headed off into the Leeds Night Sky and reconvened in the local ‘Spoons ordering copious amounts of lager and a few Bacardi Breezers, to celebrate the brilliant win over the Londoners.

Leeds United gained the home win over Everton in the Game Week-1 encounter at Elland Rd back in August 2025.

A Lukas Nmecha converted penalty in the 84th minute gave the home team a victory from a 1-0 scoreline.

Betfred offer Everton at 11/8, the Draw at 21/10 and 2/1 for Leeds United to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 11/2 that Dominic Calvert-Lewin Scores First and slight Odds On 5/6 that Both Teams Score.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)
