Game Week-24

This set of fixtures is the reverse of Game Week-2, which took place over the weekend of 22nd, 23rd, 24th and 25th of August 2025.

Saturday 31st

BRIGHTON v EVERTON

15.00 in England

Brighton have only won 1 Premier League game in their last 10 outings, following Saturday’s fixture against Fulham, which saw the Seagulls suffer a 2-1 defeat.

Yasin Ayari scored a beautiful goal in the 28th minute to give Brighton a lead at the break.

Unfortunately for the travelling Seagull faithful in attendance at Craven Cottage, Fulham scored twice in the 2nd-half to inflict the loss.

In the 10 Premier League games, that have produced just 1 win, there have been 4 losses and 5 draws, meaning a return of 8 points from a possible 30.

That leaves Brighton in 12th place with the same 30 points as Bournemouth, both having completed 23 games so far.

Everton came from a goal behind to snatch a point from a draw against Leeds United at Hill Dickinson Stadium on Monday Night Football.

After conceding a Leeds goal and trailing at the break, Thierno Barry scored the Everton equaliser in the 76th minute and with no further goals, both teams gained a point apiece from a 1-1 scoreline.

As predicted in this EveryTip column last week.

The Toffees sit in 10th place with the same 33 points as Sunderland, Newcastle and Brentford, all having completed 23 games.

Everton secured a home win when Brighton turned up at Hill Dickinson Stadium back in August.

Iliman Ndiaye and James Garner got the Toffee goals, 1 in each half, to give Everton the victory over Brighton by a 2-0 scoreline.

Danny Welbeck missed a penalty in the 2nd-half which would have halved the deficit when the score was 2-0.

Betfred offer Brighton at slight Odds On 4/5, the Draw at 13/5 and 3/1 for Everton to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 9/2 that Danny Welbeck Scores First and 13/8 that Brighton Score in Both Halves.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

LEEDS UNITED v ARSENAL

15.00 in England

Leeds United gained a point from a draw by a 1-1 score against Everton at Hill Dickinson Stadium on Monday Night Football.

James Justin scored the Whites goal after 28 minutes to give the away side a lead at the break.

The Toffees scored an equaliser in the 76th minute and with no further goals, Leeds went back down the M62 with a well-deserved point.

That’s 8 drawn games from 23 played with 6 wins and 9 losses, leaving Leeds in 16th place with 26 points from the opening 23 games played.

Marching On Together!

Wait for it, wait for it, Arsenal suffered what can only be described as a shock defeat against Manchester United at the Emirates on Sunday.

In what can be considered, the ‘Game of the Weekend’ United inflicted the loss on Arsenal by a 3-2 scoreline.

Lisandro Martinez was credited with Arsenal’s opening goal just before the half-hour mark.

United scored an equaliser to take both teams in level at the break.

The away team then scored to take the lead just after the restart before Mikel Merino scored an equaliser for Arsenal in the 84th minute which could have given the Gunners an incentive to push on for the win.

Not so, United scored the winner, 3 minutes later to inflict just the 3rd defeat of the season for Arsenal.

Mikel Arteta’s team stay at the summit of the Premier League with 50 points from the 23 games on offer.

However, the gap is now just 4 points between Arsenal in first place and Man City and Aston Villa who sit 2nd and 3rd respectively, both with 46 points.

The beauty of the English Premier League is that a couple of weeks ago, Arsenal could have quite easily gone 11 points clear and be firm favourites for this season’s title.

A draw against Liverpool and Nottingham Forest and the loss to Manchester United, means that Arsenal have only accrued 2 points from a possible 9.

It’s the final set of fixtures in the Champions League-League Phase this week, with all 18 games kicking off at the same time (20.00 hours in England) on Wednesday evening.

Arsenal sit at the summit of that particular league with a 100% record of 7 out of 7 wins, totalling 21 points before their finale against the Kazakhstan team Kairat Almaty, who sit at the bottom.

Arsenal smashed Leeds in the Game Week-2 affair at the Emirates.

Two goals apiece from Jurrien Timber and Viktor Gyokeres, added to a Bukayo Saka strike, gave Mikel’s Young Guns the victory over Dan’s Whites from a 5-0 scoreline.

This fixture, over the years, does usually produce goals, so the West Yorkshire Puddings might just need an Abacus this afternoon.

Betfred offer Leeds United at 5/1, the Draw at 11/4 and Odds On 8/15 for Arsenal to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 9/2 that Bukayo Saka Scores First and 9/4 that there are Over 3.5 Goals.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

WOLVES v BOURNEMOUTH

15.00 in England

Wolves suffered the expected defeat against Man City at the Etihad on Saturday.

Probably the only surprise in the loss was the scoreline of 2-0, with both goals going into the net in the 1st-half.

Wolves were unbeaten in the previous 5 games (4 Premier League fixtures and an FA Cup win) but it was a tough ask to try and get something in Man City’s backyard.

Wolves remain at the bottom of the Premier League table with 8 points from the 23 games played.

Bournemouth got a last-gasp goal to gain all 3 points from a victory by a 3-2 score against Liverpool at the Vitality Stadium in the late Saturday Afternoon kickoff.

The Cherries scored 2 goals from Evanilson and Alejandro Jimenez to take an early lead, however, Liverpool scored 1 to halve the deficit at half-time, then scored a 2nd to equal things up.

With 4 minutes of injury time added and the clock ticking close to 6 extra minutes, Amine Adli popped up with the winner to knock the stuffing out of the away team.

Amine’s strike was literally the last kick of the match, with the referee blowing the full-time whistle as soon as Liverpool restarted the game.

The stunning win leaves Bournemouth in 13th place with the same 30 points as Brighton from the 23 games on offer.

A Marcus Tavernier goal, scored in the 4th minute, gave Bournemouth the home win by a 1-0 scoreline, when Wolves visited the Vitality Stadium back in August.

Betfred offer Wolves at 21/10, the Draw at 5/2 and 11/10 for Bournemouth to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 11/2 that Evanilson Scores First and 7/4 that Bournemouth Score in Both Halves.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

CHELSEA v WEST HAM

17.30 in England

Sky Sports

Chelsea smashed Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Sunday, with Liam Rosenior’s Blues gaining a victory over Oliver Glasner’s Eagles by a 3-1 scoreline.

Estevao, Joao Pedro and Enzo Fernandez (penalty) with the goals.

Palace did score a late consolation goal after Chelsea had 3 on the board.

Palace were also reduced to 10 men when Adam Wharton was shown 2 Yellow Cards and the subsequent Red within 5 crazy minutes midway through the 2nd-half.

There was a bit of conjecture regarding Liam Rosenior’s appointment but the lad has overseen 4 victories in the 5 games in all competitions he has been in charge, with just a loss against Arsenal in the 1st-leg of the Carabao Cup Semi-Final.

That’s all one can ask of someone new to a club.

Chelsea sit in 5th place with 37 points from the opening 23 games played.

Chelsea face Napoli in Italy on Wednesday in their final Champions League game.

The Blues have the same 13 points as Paris Saint-Germain, Newcastle, Barcelona, Sporting Lisbon, Man City, Atletico Madrid and Atalanta but significantly sit in 8th place on goal difference, which 8th and above will see a team automatically qualify for the last 16 of the competition which starts again in March.

To reiterate a point, the teams that finish in places 9-16 face those who finish in 17th to 24th, in a 2-legged affair, with the winners drawn against the Top 8, who will have already qualified.

For example, at the moment, the 9th placed team is Barcelona, who would face the team in 24th, who are Olympiacos.

Tenth face 23rd and so on.

Although Chelsea are currently in 8th place, that is only on goal difference.

The two above Chelsea with 13 points, those being Paris Saint-Germain and Newcastle, face each other in the finale, therefore only one of them can achieve 16 points.

(That particular game could produce a classic!)

Barcelona face Copenhagen in Spain, so that should see Barcelona with 16 points.

Sporting Lisbon face Athletic Bilbao in Spain, with Bilbao currently on 8 points, so both will be going all out for a win.

Man City face Galatasaray at the Etihad and know that a win will see Pep’s Blues finish in the Top 8.

Galatasaray currently have 10 points, so a win against City would put both teams on 13, however, the Turks would have to score 4 goals more than Man City to overtake them in the table.

Atletico Madrid take on Bodo/Glimt in the Spanish Capital so, despite Bodo beating Man City last time out (which was more to do with Pep’s team selection than Bodo’s performance), it’s likely that the Spanish team will win and finish with 16 points too.

The final team with 13 points are Atalanta, who face Union SG, with a win for Atalanta predicted as although Union currently have 6 points, they are unlikely to qualify for the further stages, even with a win.

That basically suggests that if Chelsea get the win in the finale against Napoli, then Liam Rosenior’s Blues will finish in the Top 8 and avoid a 2-legged playoff in February.

West Ham put in a great performance against Sunderland on Saturday Afternoon, gaining a home win at the London Stadium by a 3-1 scoreline.

Goals from Crysencio Summerville, Jarrod Bowen (penalty) and Mateus Fernandes gave Nuno’s Hammers the victory over Regis’s Black Cats by a 3-1 scoreline.

Sunderland scored their consolation goal in the 66th minute.

West Ham remain in the drop zone, still in 18th place with 20 points from 23 games completed.

That’s now 5 points adrift of Nottingham Forest who are the safe team with 25 points.

Chelsea hammered West Ham at the London Stadium in the Game Week-2 affair.

Goals from Joao Pedro, Pedro Neto and Enzo Fernandez gave Chelsea a comfortable lead at the break.

Lucas Paqueta had scored first to give West Ham an early lead, before the 3 Chelsea goals.

Moises Caceido and Trevoh Chalobah added 4 and 5 after the interval to give Enzo Maresca’s Blues the victory over Graham Potter’s Hammers by a 5-1 scoreline.

It’s Liam Rosenior and Nuno Espírito Santo who are in the dugout today.

Betfred offer Chelsea at Odds On 4/9, the Draw at 10/3 and 5/1 for West Ham to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 13/2 that Pedro Neto Scores First and 13/8 that Chelsea Win To Nil.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

LIVERPOOL v NEWCASTLE

20.00 in England

TNT Sports

A bit of late Saturday Night Football for all the single folk out there.

Order a takeout, pour a glass of Cherry Tango (still Dry January!) and enjoy this iconic fixture that has produced a few belters over the years.

The married girls and boys will no doubt be watching Strictly Come Sewing a Shirt, Whilst Dancing On Ice, Doing a Pottery Shop and Knitting a Jumper with Tom Daley on Channel 4.

The Manchester Ball Thrower and Penistone’s Finest Iccle Fat Lad will be doing the latter.

Liverpool played in a strange affair against Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium in the late Saturday Afternoon kickoff.

After conceding 2 goals, Virgil Van Dijk, who was culpable for at least 1 of those, scored just before the half-time interval to halve the deficit going into the 2nd-half.

Dominik Szoboszlai then scored another ‘brilliant free kick’ to level the score with 10 minutes remaining.

After the referee had added on 4 minutes of injury time and the clock going into the 5th minute, Bournemouth stunned Liverpool by scoring the winner with the last kick of the game, literally!

That would have hurt Arne’s Slots, as it did hurt this EveryTip’s prediction of a 2-2 draw.

However, most bookmakers do offer a ‘Cash Out’ so surely a few would have ‘Cashed Out’ at 2-2 and earned a couple of quid.

The defeat by a 3-2 scoreline dropped Liverpool down to 6th place in the Premier League table with 36 points from the opening 23 games completed.

Liverpool take on Qarabag at Anfield in the final Champions League clash.

Although folk perceive that Liverpool are struggling at the moment, Arne’s Slots were unbeaten in the previous 13 games in all competitions (7 wins and 6 draws) before the trip to Bournemouth and hadn’t lost since the Match Day-5 encounter against PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool currently have 15 points in the Champions League-League Phase, so a win over Qarabag would mean automatic qualification to the last-16 which takes place in March.

A draw, giving Liverpool 16 points, would make it a nervy ending to the evening at Anfield, depending on other results from the 8 teams that can get 16 points or more also.

It’s 8 teams in total, as although there are currently 8 teams that have 13 points, Paris Saint-Germain face Newcastle, so only one of those can achieve 16 points, however, Tottenham currently have 14 points, so a win for Spurs would see them on 17 points.

One suggests that Liverpool will get the victory needed over the Azerbaijanis, to take away any nervousness.

As mentioned, Newcastle head to Paris to face PSG in the finale, with both teams on 13 points, meaning a win for either, depending on goal difference, should give automatic qualification.

A loss, will probably throw the losers into the 2-legged qualifiers.

Which does suggest, it might be a cracker in the French Capital on Wednesday Night.

Newcastle themselves suffered a loss over the weekend, with Aston Villa inflicting a defeat on the Magpies by a 2-0 scoreline at St James Park on Sunday.

In truth, Newcastle were never at the races and were just beaten by a better team who are in the mix for the Premier League title.

One interesting fact popped up and that was, in the 4 years that Bruno Guimaraes has been a Newcastle player, Newcastle have never won a Premier League game when Bruno was missing.

That continued on Sunday, with the influential Brazilian Midfielder sitting in the stands with an ankle injury.

Bruno has missed 9 games in his time at St James Park, which has seen Newcastle draw 5 and lose 4, returning 5 points from a possible 27.

This suggests that Eddie Howe will want Bruno back in the team as soon as possible.

Newcastle sit in 9th place with the same 33 points as Sunderland, Everton and Brentford, all having completed 23 games.

Liverpool left it late, very late, to get the victory over Newcastle in the fixture at St James Park back in August.

Ryan Gravenberch scored in the 36th minute to give Liverpool a lead at the break.

Anthony Gordon was shown a straight Red Card on the stroke of half-time to leave Newcastle a man down for all of the 2nd-half.

Hugo Ekitike scored a 2nd for Liverpool just after the restart before Bruno Guimaraes and William Osula scored for Newcastle in the 57th and 88th minute respectively, to level up proceedings.

It was then the late, late show, with the Liverpool youngster Rio Ngumoha, who was sent on by Arne Slot in the 96th minute, scoring the winner in the 100th minute, to snatch all 3-points from a 3-2 scoreline.

Betfred offer Liverpool at Odds On 4/5, the Draw at 11/4 and 3/1 for Newcastle to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 3/1 that Dominik Szoboszlai Scores Anytime and 11/4 that Harvey Barnes Scores Anytime.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

ASTON VILLA v BRENTFORD

14.00 in England

Sky Sports

Aston Villa are well and truly in the Premier League title race, following a brilliant win over Newcastle at St James Park on Sunday.

That’s despite Unai Emery playing down the situation stating that Villa are not contenders.

Goals from Emiliano Buendia and Ollie Watkins gave Villa the victory over Newcastle by a 2-0 score.

The win was then enhanced a couple of hours later, when Arsenal suffered a defeat against Manchester United, leaving Aston Villa, still in 3rd place with the same 46 points as Man City but significantly, now both only 4 points adrift of the Gunners at the summit, all having played 23 times.

Aston Villa face RB Salzburg on Thursday, in the final fixture of the Europa League-League Phase.

Villa currently sit in 2nd place with 18 points and whether they win, draw or lose against the Austrians, have already qualified in the Top 8, so will go straight into the last-16 and avoid the 2-legged affair.

Brentford suffered a rare home defeat at the GTech Stadium on Saturday.

Nottingham Forest were just one of two teams that have won at the Bees home, gaining a victory over Brentford by a 2-0 scoreline.

That is back-to-back defeats for Keith Andrews’ boys following the loss against Chelsea last week, leaving Brentford in 8th place with the same 33 points as Newcastle, Everton and Sunderland.

Brentford gained the home win over Aston Villa at the GTech Stadium back in August.

A single goal from Dango Ouattara, scored in the 12th minute, gave Keith Andrews’ Bees the victory over Unai Emery’s Claret and Blues from a 1-0 scoreline.

Betfred offer Aston Villa at slight Odds On 10/11, the Draw at 5/2 and 11/4 for Brentford to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 4/1 that Ollie Watkins Scores First and 6/4 that Igor Thiago Scores Anytime.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

MANCHESTER UNITED v FULHAM

14.00 in England

Sky Sports

Super Michael Carrick oversaw his beloved Manchester United team gain a victory over Arsenal at the Emirates on Sunday.

After inflicting a defeat on Man City last week, United, under Michael, are now 2 from 2 in the ‘win column’ following a stunning victory against Arsenal by a 3-2 away day scoreline.

Lisandro Martinez was credited with the opening goal, however, Lisandro somehow kicked the ball into the back of his own net, giving Arsenal a lead on the half-hour mark.

Under Ruben Amorim, there would have been no way back for United and the Own Goal would have seen Arsenal push on for a few more.

However, Manchester United are a different beast with Michael Carrick in charge, instilling confidence and patience into the United players that saw Bryan Mbeumo score an equaliser to take both teams in level at the break.

Patrick Dorgu scored a brilliant 2nd just after the restart which gave United a lead right up to the 84th minute when Arsenal scored an equaliser to make it 2-2 going into the final stages of the game.

Matheus Cunha, who had started on the bench and was introduced by Mr Carrick in the 70th minute, scored a brilliant goal just after the Gunners’ equaliser to knock the stuffing out of the home team and the Gooners in attendance.

After Arsenal’s 2nd goal, it could easily have seen United capitulate and lose the game but with Super Michael Carrick at the helm, that wasn’t going to happen.

The brilliant win leaves United in 4th place with 38 points from the opening 23 games played.

No one is suggesting that Manchester United will win the Premier League, the objective though is to stay in the Top Four and gain entry into next season’s Champions League.

There’s always going to be media speculation regarding whether United should employ Michael Carrick as the permanent Manager, with a certain Roy Keane not necessarily wanting that to happen, saying that,

‘Manchester United need a Head Coach who is BIGGER and BETTER than Michael!’

Mr Keane is a legend and has his own views which most will agree with, however, John Newsome doesn’t!

Super Michael Carrick is ‘BIG’ and is ‘BETTER’ than any other candidate out there.

Added to that, although Roy has his opinion, one can ask,

Who at the moment, is BIGGER and BETTER?

Probably the main factor in the decision to appoint the next permanent Manager of Manchester United, is the upcoming World Cup.

Thomas Tuchel is only contracted to the England job until the end of the tournament.

Carlo Ancelotti is the Brazilian Boss but a poor performance by the Samba Boys could see Mr Ancelotti sacked, which would then see the Old Trafford hierarchy have at least another person as an option.

The same can be said for Mauricio Pochettino, however, the difference between Mauricio, Thomas and Carlo is that England and Brazil do have a puncher’s chance of winning the World Cup but the USA doesn’t.

There’s also a certain Sir Gareth Southgate who is available and, interestingly, Michael Carrick has brought in Gareth’s trusty lieutenant Steve Holland as an Assistant Coach.

Is this purely coincidence or is it an agreement between Sir Jim Radcliffe and the other Bosses at Old Trafford to allow Steve to come in on a ‘recce’ (reconnaissance) so to speak to see the current ins and outs of Manchester United, so that Mr Holland can report back to Sir Gareth and advise whether he should take the job or leave well alone.

A lot, including the Manchester Ball Thrower, don’t want Gareth Southgate to be the Manchester United Manager, however, John Newsome (not that his opinion matters) isn’t against the idea and thinks Sir Gareth would bring some stability to the club.

That said, most regular readers of this column will know that John Newsome is a massive fan of Super Michael Carrick and if results continue as of the first two, then Mr Carrick could remain at the wheel!

Fulham came from a goal down at half-time to gain a victory over Brighton at Craven Cottage on Saturday.

Second-half goals from Samuel Chukwueze and Harry Wilson gave Fulham the win from a 2-1 scoreline.

Fulham sit in 7th place with 34 points from the opening 23 games played.

Both teams gained a point from a draw by a 1-1 score when United visited Craven Cottage to take on Fulham in August 2025.

After a goalless 1st-half (which had seen Bruno Fernandes miss a penalty), Rodrigo Muniz was credited with an Own Goal in the 58th minute to give United a lead.

Emile Smith-Rowe scored an equaliser 15 minutes later and with no further goals both teams gained a point apiece.

Betfred offer Manchester United at Odds On 8/15, the Draw at 3/1 and 9/2 for Fulham to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 4/1 that Matheus Cunha Scores First and 11/4 that Manchester United Win Both Halves.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

NOTTINGHAM FOREST v CRYSTAL PALACE

14.00 in England

Sky Sports

Nottingham Forest did what only Man City have done this season and that was gain a victory over Brentford at the GTech Stadium.

Goals from Igor Jesus and Taiwo Awoniyi gave Sean Dyche’s Tricky Trees the win from a 2-0 scoreline.

That leaves Forest in 17th place with 25 points, now 5 points above the relegation zone.

Nottingham Forest are in Europa League action on Thursday and will face the Hungarians Ferencvaros in the League Phase finale.

Forest sit in 16th place with the same 11 points as Viktoria Plzen, Fenerbahce and Panathinaikos.

It’s unlikely that Forest can make the Top 8, so it will be a 2-legged qualifier in February to see if the Tricky Trees can progress to the last-16.

If one remembers, Forest should have been in the Europa Conference League and Crystal Palace in the Europa League, however, due to some inept administration, the competition entry into Europe for both teams was reversed.

Palace have made the 2-legged qualifier of the Europa Conference League and will face the Bosnia and Herzegovina team Zrinjski in February.

Crystal Palace suffered their 6th Premier League defeat from the last 8 games, against Chelsea on Sunday, with the other 2 being drawn.

That’s just 2 points from a possible 24 which is simply not what the Eagle Ultras want.

Adam Wharton was shown 2 Yellow Cards and the subsequent Red midway through the 2nd-half, however, Palace were already trailing by 3 goals to nil.

Chris Richards actually scored a Palace consolation goal after Adam had left the field.

Those Premier League defeats are on top of a loss in the FA Cup, a loss in the Carabao Cup and a draw in the Europa Conference League.

Oliver Glasner has announced that he is leaving at the end of the season, however, one suspects the Palace hierarchy might just part ways with Oliver before the Summer as it looks as if the players have downed tools already.

The loss against Chelsea by a 3-1 scoreline, leaves Palace in 15th place with the same 28 points as Tottenham from the 23 games played.

These two shared the points when Nuno Espírito Santo took his Tricky Trees down to Selhurst Park to face Oliver Glasner’s Eagles back in August 2025.

A goal from Ismaila Sarr gave Palace a lead at the break.

Callum Hudson-Odoi scored an equaliser for Forest just before the hour mark and with no further goals, both teams gained a point from a draw by a 1-1 score.

In the last 6 Premier League meetings between these two, there have been 5 drawn games, with 4, 1-1 scorelines and 1, 0-0 scoreline.

The other game was a 1-0 scoreline in favour of Forest.

Prior to that, there were 2, 1-0 scorelines in favour of Forest.

What that basically suggests is these two teams, don’t produce many goals and usually end up drawing the game.

Betfred offer Nottingham Forest at slight Odds On 19/20, the Draw at 23/10 and 11/4 for Crystal Palace to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 5/1 that Igor Jesus Scores First and 2/1 that Jean-Philippe Mateta Scores Anytime.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

TOTTENHAM v MAN CITY

16.30 in England

Sky Sports

Tottenham gained a point from a draw by a 2-2 score against Burnley at Turf Moor on Saturday.

Micky Van De Ven scored first before Burnley then scored twice to take the lead.

Cristian Romero scored an equaliser in the 90th minute to give both teams a point apiece.

There’s speculation that Thomas Frank is under pressure, however, Tottenham’s Champions League performances should keep Thomas as the Gaffer for the time being.

Tottenham look like a different team in Europe with the latest game against Borussia Dortmund producing a superb victory.

Both teams are in Champions League action before this Sunday Afternoon Adventure.

Tottenham face Eintracht Frankfurt in Germany, whilst Man City take on Galatasaray at the Etihad, with both games kicking off at the same time (20.00 hours) on Wednesday.

Surprisingly, Tottenham have a point more than Man City in that particular competition, currently sitting in 5th place with 14 points.

Man City sit in 11th with 13 points.

It’s more than likely that both teams will need a win on Wednesday to prevent a 2-legged qualifier in February.

Man City got the expected victory over Wolves at the Etihad on Saturday.

Omar Marmoush and Antoine Semenyo with the 1st-half goals to give Pep’s High Flying Blues the win over Rob’s Gold and Blacks by a 2-0 scoreline.

Erling Haaland started on the bench with Omar coming into the starting lineup for the Norwegian/Leeds lad.

One can read into that as one wants and put whatever narrative is best, with Erling not having scored in the last 5 games.

However, only one of those five was a Premier League fixture.

A quick note regarding the two previous games which saw Man City suffer 2 defeats against Manchester United and Bodo/Glimt respectively.

A lot have questioned City’s performances, however, one should question Pep Guardiola’s team selection, especially in the game against Bodo/Glimt.

Pep picked Rayan Ait-Nouri, who can’t kick with his Right Foot, as the Right Back.

Rico Lewis, who is a more experienced Right Back was thrown into the Midfield and added to those faux pas by PG, the Gaffer left Jeremy Doku sitting on the bench for the whole game.

After seeing his City team concede 3 goals before the hour mark, with Rayan Cherki scoring a consolation goal in the 60th minute, Pep only made one substitution, sending on Omar Marmoush for Phil Foden with 20 minutes remaining.

Rodri had been shown 2 quick-fire Yellow Cards and the subsequent Red before Omar was introduced.

Therefore, the defeat, whilst not expected, can be put down to mitigating circumstances.

Marc Guehi and Antoine Semenyo started against Wolves but have not been registered with UEFA yet so they won’t be eligible to play in the Champions League until the next stage and will miss the midweek game against Galatasaray.

This is the final week of the January Transfer Window and it’s plain to see that Man City have been proactive and done the best bit of business, bringing in Marc and Antoine, to hopefully push on and catch Arsenal at the summit (as well as fending off Aston Villa who are also chasing the Gunners).

With the Numpty Neighbours Manchester United getting a victory over Arsenal on Sunday, the gap at the top of the table is just 4 points.

1-Arsenal 50 points
2-Man City 46 points
3-Aston Villa 46 points

Tottenham gained the away-day victory over Man City at the Etihad back in August.

Brennan Johnson and Joao Palhinha scored the 1st-half goals to give Tottenham a lead at the break.

With no further goals in the 2nd-half, Thomas Frank’s team gained the points from a 2-0 scoreline.

Betfred offer Tottenham at 18/5, the Draw at 3/1 and Odds On 8/13 for Man City to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 9/4 that Erling Haaland Scores First and 2/1 that Man City Win To Nil.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

SUNDERLAND v BURNLEY

20.00 in England

Sky Sports

Sunderland were hammered by West Ham in the early Saturday Afternoon kickoff at the London Stadium.

After conceding 3 goals in the 1st-half to trail at the break, Brian Brobbey scored what turned out to be a consolation goal in the 66th minute.

The defeat for the Black Cats by a 3-1 scoreline, leaves Sunderland in 11th place with the same 33 points as Everton, Newcastle and Brentford from 23 games played.

Burnley earned a great point from a draw by a 2-2 score, against Tottenham on Saturday.

Axel Tuanzebe scored to equalise an earlier Tottenham goal, taking both teams in level at the break.

Lyle Foster then scored in the 76th minute which, when the clock hit 90, did look like the winner, however, Tottenham scored a 2nd to give both teams a share of the points.

Burnley remain in 19th place with 15 points from 23 games completed.

That is still 10 points away from safety so it will be a tough ask for Scott Parker to keep the Clarets in the Premier League.

Surprisingly, considering where both teams currently are in the Premier League table, it was Scott Parker’s Burnley that got the home win over Regis Le Bris’ Sunderland when these two met at Turf Moor for the Game Week-2 encounter.

Second-half goals from Josh Cullen and Jaidon Anthony gave the Clarets the victory over the Black Cats by a 2-0 scoreline.

Betfred offer Sunderland at Odds On 7/10, the Draw at 12/5 and 4/1 for Burnley to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 9/2 that Brian Brobbey Scores First and 18/5 that Sunderland Win Both Halves.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)
