Game Week-8

Saturday 18th

NOTTINGHAM FOREST v CHELSEA

12.30 in England

TNT Sports

Ange Postecoglou (Ange Cost-a-team-a-few) has now lost 30 out of 49 Premier League games that the Big Lad has overseen since coming down from Scotland.

Twenty-seven Tottenham defeats and now 3 Nottingham Forest losses after Sunday’s game against Newcastle at St James Park where the Magpies gained the home victory over the Tricky Trees by a 2-0 scoreline.

As predicted in this EveryTip column last week.

With an International Break occurring following Sunday’s game against Newcastle, it was possible that Nottingham Forest could have a New Manager in place for this fixture against Chelsea.

As of writing this column, Ange Postecoglou is still the Nottingham Forest Manager, however, the question is now, for how much longer?

There is talk of Sean Dyche being lined up and ready for action, with the Gravel Voiced Gingerbread Man sat by his phone waiting for the call from Big Evangelos.

That said, the International Break may have just come at the right time for Ange Postecoglou to get some of his methods over to the players.

Another question to ask is, what are Big Ange’s methods?

There was a ‘joke’ going around which said that-

‘Ange always wins a Trophy in his 2nd season, that will be the Championship Trophy then!’

Forest sit in 17th place with 5 points from the opening 7 games played.

Chelsea come back after the break following a brilliant victory over Liverpool at Stamford Bridge last time out.

Moises Caceido scored a beautiful goal to give the Blues a lead at the break.

Liverpool did get an equaliser and with time virtually up on the clock it appeared a draw was on the cards, however, Estevao popped up with the winner in the 95th minute to give Enzo Maresca’s Blues the win over Arne’s Stuttering Slots by a 2-1 scoreline.

That puts Chelsea in 7th place with the same 11 points as Everton and Sunderland from the opening 7 games completed.

This was a Game Week-38 affair when Forest hosted Chelsea last season.

A Levi Colwill goal scored early in the 2nd-half was enough to give Chelsea the away-day victory over Nottingham Forest by a 1-0 scoreline.

Betfred offer Nottingham Forest at 11/4, the Draw at 13/5 and slight Odds On 19/20 for Chelsea to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 9/2 that Joao Pedro Scores First and 13/5 that Chelsea Win To Nil.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

BRIGHTON v NEWCASTLE

15.00 in England

Brighton left it late to grab a point from a draw by a 1-1 score against Wolves at the Amex last Sunday.

After conceding a Wolves goal with the unfortunate Bart Verbruggen being credited with an OG to trail at the break, Jan Paul Van Hecke got the equaliser in the 86th minute to give both teams a point apiece.

Bart was unlucky, as the initial shot from Marshall Munetsi was pushed onto the bar by the Brighton Goalkeeper but then the ball came back into play and hit Bart rebounding back into the net.

Doh!

Brighton sit in 12th place with the same 11 points as Aston Villa and Newcastle, all having completed 7 fixtures.

Newcastle gained a victory over Nottingham Forest at St James Park on Sunday.

After a goalless 1st-half, Bruno Guimaraes hit a beautiful long-range effort that was just too good for the Forest Goalkeeper and nestled in the Top Corner.

One-nil!

Newcastle were then awarded a penalty which didn’t need much interference from the dreaded VAR.

The New Boy Nick Woltemade confidently converted the spot-kick to give Newcastle the win from a 2-0 scoreline.

As predicted in this EveryTip column last week.

After a shaky start to proceedings in the 2025/26 Premier League season, which the Alexander Isak saga had a lot to do with said shakiness, Newcastle have now won back-to-back games following the Match Day-2 fixture against Union SG in the Champions League, so something for Eddie Howe to build on after the International Break.

Newcastle sit in 11th place with the same 9 points as Aston Villa and today’s hosts, all having completed 7 games so far.

Both teams shared the points from a draw by a 1-1 score when Newcastle made the long (long) trip South to the Amex to face Brighton last season.

Yankuba Minteh scored the Seagulls’ goal to give the home team a lead at the break.

Alexander Isak scored the equaliser in the 89th minute to give both teams a point apiece.

Betfred offer Brighton at 6/4, the Draw at 12/5 and 7/4 for Newcastle to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 5/1 that Nick Woltemade Scores First and Evens 1/1 that there are Under 2.5 Goals.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

BURNLEY v LEEDS UNITED

15.00 in England

Burnley sit in 18th place with the same 4 points as West Ham from the opening 7 games completed, following another defeat on Sunday, this time against Aston Villa at Villa Park.

After conceding 2 Villa goals, Burnley’s Lesley Ugochukwu scored in the 78th minute to halve the deficit.

Unfortunately, for the Travelling Clarets in attendance, time ran out, meaning another defeat for Scott Parker’s men.

That’s the 5th loss from the opening 7 games, with a draw against Nottingham Forest and a win over Sunderland coming in the other 2.

It was always going to be a tough ask to perform well in the Premier League.

One thing that may irk Four Stripes Scott Parker is the fact that last year’s Goalkeeper James Trafford was sold to Man City, yet is now sitting on the bench due to Gianluigi Donnarumma coming in at the Etihad.

Maybe Burnley could try and get James back on loan.

Leeds United suffered a home defeat against Tottenham in the early Saturday Afternoon kick-off.

After Tottenham scored the opener in the 23rd minute, Noah Okafor got an equaliser for the Whites to leave both teams level at the interval.

Unfortunately for the West Yorkshire Puddings in attendance at Elland Rd, Tottenham scored a 2nd goal just before the hour mark and with no further goals, went away with the points from a 2-1 scoreline.

That leaves Leeds in 15th place with the same 8 points as Fulham after 7 games going into yet another International Break.

There weren’t any goals when these two met last season with both gaining a point from a draw by a 0-0 score.

That was a Championship affair before both went on to gain promotion to the Promised Land.

Betfred offer Burnley at 9/4, the Draw at 11/5 and 13/10 for Leeds United to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer slight Odds On 10/11 that Both Teams Don’t Score and 2/1 that there are Under 1.5 Goals.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

CRYSTAL PALACE v BOURNEMOUTH

15.00 in England

Crystal Palace’s Premier League unbeaten record ended last time out, with Oliver Glasner’s Eagles suffering a defeat against David Moyes’ Toffees at the Hill Dickinson Stadium by a 2-1 scoreline.

Daniel Munoz scored the opener in the 1st-half to give Palace a lead at the break.

Unfortunately for the away team, Everton scored twice in the 2nd-half, with the winner coming in the 93rd minute to inflict the loss on Crystal Palace.

Palace had gained a great victory over Dynamo Kyiv in the Europa Conference League on the previous Thursday and headed to Merseyside full of confidence being the only team in the division to still be unbeaten, before the loss against the Toffees.

Crystal Palace sit in 6th place with 12 points from the opening 7 games played.

Congratulations to Jean-Philippe Mateta who made his debut for France over the International Break, at the ripe old age of 28, coming off the bench against Azerbaijan, then starting and scoring in the draw against Iceland.

Nice one JP!

Bournemouth came from a goal behind to gain a victory over Fulham on Friday Night Football.

After conceding a goal in the 70th minute, Antoine Semenyo equalised 8 minutes later, with Justin Kluivert scoring a beauty to make it 2-1 soon after Antoine’s 1st.

Antoine then scored his 2nd and Bournemouth’s 3rd with the last kick of the game to give the Cherries the win over the Cottagers by a 3-1 scoreline.

The last-minute goal did irk John Newsome as it spoiled the EveryTip prediction of 2-1, however, some bookmakers do offer ‘Cash Out’ so maybe a few ‘Cashed Out’ and earned a few bob to pay for the Electricity and Gas Bill as Winter approaches.

Bournemouth moved up to 4th in the table with the same 14 points as Tottenham from the opening 7 games.

Tottenham sit 3rd having a slightly superior goal difference.

The scorer wasn’t needed when these two met at Selhurst Park last season, with both teams sharing the points from a draw by a 0-0 score.

The only excitement was when Palace’s Chris Richards was shown the 2nd of 2 Yellow Cards and the subsequent Red on the stroke of half-time, leaving Palace a man down for the whole of the 2nd-half, which Bournemouth failed to take advantage of.

Betfred offer Crystal Palace at 5/4, the Draw at 12/5 and 11/5 for Bournemouth to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 7/2 that Jean-Philippe Mateta Scores First and 9/4 that Antoine Semenyo Scores Anytime.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

MAN CITY v EVERTON

15.00 in England

The Jack Grealish Derby.

However, Big Jack will be watching from the stands as the absurd rule that a player on loan from a club can’t face said club.

Surely that rule needs to be changed as it would be great to see the likes of Jack Grealish kick lumps or have lumps kicked out of him from his old mates.

Man City gained a professional, if not perfect victory over Brentford at the GTech Stadium on Sunday.

The main man Erling Haaland scored a brilliant goal, using strength and power to create the chance which was dispatched to give City an early lead.

As it turned out, Erling’s goal was the only one of the game giving Pep’s High Flying Blues the win over Keith Andrews’ Bees by a 1-0 away day score.

A couple of weeks ago, following the draw against Arsenal in Game Week-5, Man City were sitting in 9th place with 7 points, a massive 8 points adrift of Liverpool at the summit.

Now Man City are 5th in the table with 13 points from the initial 7 fixtures, only 3 points adrift of Arsenal at the top who have jumped above Liverpool to sit at the Summit going into the International Break.

The Missing One today, him being Jack Grealish scored a very late goal against Crystal Palace, to give Everton the win by a 2-1 scoreline.

Palace had scored the opener before an Illiman Ndiaye converted penalty put the score level going into the final 15 minutes.

Jack then scored the winner in the 93rd minute.

It is a shame that the Brummie Boy will be missing today and that rule surely needs looking at, as it’s denying the watching faithful the chance to see a player go up against his current teammates.

If one is not sure and thinks it won’t change, it as in the Champions League where a player on loan at one club can face his mates if drawn against them.

Nicolas Jackson, who is on loan at Bayern Munich from Chelsea, faced his former teammates in Match Day-1 when Chelsea visited the Allianz Arena back in September.

So if it can happen in the Champions League it should happen in the Premier League.

Everton sit in 8th place with the same 11 points as Sunderland and Chelsea, all having completed 7 games so far.

Man City left it late to get a victory over Everton in last season’s encounter at the Home of the Toffees.

Nico O’Reilly and Mateo Kovacic scored in the 84th and 92nd minute respectively to give City the win over Everton from a 2-0 scoreline.

Obviously, the Home of the Toffees last term was Goodison Park, which this time around will now be the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Betfred offer Man City at Odds On 2/5, the Draw at 18/5 and 7/1 for Everton to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 9/4 that Erling Haaland Scores First and 5/4 that Man City Win To Nil.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

SUNDERLAND v WOLVES

15.00 in England

Sunderland suffered a defeat against Manchester United at Old Trafford last time out.

Although United are rubbish at the moment, they did have back-to-back wins at their home going into the fixture against Sunderland so the victory wasn’t that much of a surprise and made it 3 in a row.

The Black Cats conceded 2 early goals to suffer the loss by a 2-0 scoreline, as predicted in this EveryTip column.

Regis Le Bris just needs to put that result to bed and concentrate on this important game against Wolves.

It’s these fixtures between the lower-end clubs that will decide who stays and who are relegated.

Sunderland sit in 9th place with the same 11 points as Everton and Chelsea from the opening 7 games.

Wolves gained a point from a draw by a 1-1 score against Brighton last weekend.

Brighton’s Bart Verbruggen was credited with the Wolves goal that gave the home team a lead at the break.

Brighton did get an equaliser in the 86th minute giving both teams a point apiece, which is back-to-back draws for Wolves by the same 1-1 scoreline.

Vitor Pereira’s Gold and Blacks remain at the foot of the table with 2 points from the opening 7 games.

Although at the bottom, Wolves are only a win away from getting out of the drop zone.

Sunderland gained a victory over Wolves when these two teams last met at the Stadium of Light.

That was in May 2018 and was a Championship encounter, which saw goals from Oviemuno Ejaria, Ashley Fletcher and Paddy McNair give Robbie Stockdale’s Black Cats the win over Nuno Espírito Santo’s Gold and Blacks.

Amazingly, despite the victory for Sunderland, Wolves finished at the Top of the Championship and were promoted to the Premier League and Sunderland finished rock bottom and were relegated to League One.

Betfred offer Sunderland at 7/5, the Draw at 21/10 and 21/10 for Wolves to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 5/1 that Wilson Isidor Scores First and Evens 1/1 that Both Teams Score.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

FULHAM v ARSENAL

17.30 in England

Sky Sports

Fulham played well against Bournemouth at the Vitality on Friday Night Football, with Ryan Sessegnon scoring the opener after 70 minutes.

Unfortunately, that goal just inspired Bournemouth who then scored 3 times to inflict the defeat on Fulham by a 3-1 scoreline.

Tom Cairney came off the bench after 14 minutes when Sasa Lukic picked up an injury and was arguably Fulham’s best player, thus suggesting why TC was on the bench in the first place.

That performance from the Fulham Club Captain should be enough to get in the starting eleven for this game against Arsenal.

Fulham sit in 14th place with the same 8 points as Leeds from the opening 7 games played so far.

Arsenal are now at the summit of the Premier League table following a brilliant victory over West Ham last time out.

With the Hammers under a New Manager, the game could have been a tricky one for Mikel’s Young Guns, however, a goal from the ex-Bubble Declan Rice and a converted Bukayo Saka penalty gave Arsenal the win over West Ham by a 2-0 scoreline.

That gave Arsenal 16 points and sent them to the top prior to Liverpool’s game against Chelsea.

Liverpool subsequently lost that one leaving Arsenal at the summit going into the International Break.

Both Londoners shared the points from a draw by a 1-1 score when these two teams met at Craven Cottage last season.

Raul Jimenez scored the opener for Fulham in the 11th minute, before William Saliba equalised for Arsenal early in the 2nd-half.

Betfred offer Fulham at 5/1, the Draw at 3/1 and Odds On 4/7 for Arsenal to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 5/1 that Bukayo Saka Scores First and 6/4 that Arsenal Win To Nil.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

Sunday 19th

TOTTENHAM v ASTON VILLA

14.00 in England

Sky Sports

Tottenham travelled up the M1 for the early Saturday Afternoon kick-off against Leeds United at Elland Rd.

Mathys Tel scored the opener after 23 minutes before Leeds equalised to take both teams in level at the break.

Mohammed Kudos then scored a 2nd for Tottenham just before the hour mark and with no further goals Thomas Frank’s Spurs team held on for the victory over Daniel Farke’s Whites by a 2-1 scoreline.

That leaves Tottenham in 3rd place with the same 14 points as Bournemouth from the opening 7 games completed.

Aston Villa got the home win over Burnley before the International Break.

David Malen scored both goals, one in each half, to give Unai Emery’s Claret and Blues the victory over Scott Parker’s Clarets by a 2-1 scoreline.

Burnley scored a late consolation goal.

Although Ollie Watkins has only scored 1 Premier League goal this season, the Villa Striker did score for England in the recent friendly against Wales, where the Three Lions got the victory over the Welsh Dragons by a 3-0 scoreline.

Ollie started the game at Wembley in place of Harry Kane and did himself no harm by scoring hoping to make the England Squad for next year’s World Cup.

It’s now time for Mr Watkins to score a few in the Premier League.

Aston Villa sit in 13th place with the same 9 points as Brighton and Newcastle, all having completed 7 games.

England then gained a victory over Latvia on Wednesday which confirmed their World Cup Qualification for next year, winning the Group with 2 games remaining in November.

Those 2 games against Serbia and Albania should allow Thomas Tuchel the opportunity to play a few players on the fringe of the squad to see who’s up for the challenge.

England will always do brilliantly in the Qualifiers, so it’s no surprise that TT’s Three Lions are off to the USA, Canada and Mexico next year.

It’s what happens at the tournament that will determine whether Mr Tuchel has done well or is just another on the England Manager Failure Taxi Rank.

Tottenham gained a comfortable victory over Aston Villa when these two teams met at Tottenham’s New Stadium last season.

The game took place almost 12 months ago on the 3rd of November 2024.

Second-half goals from Brennan Johnson, Dominic Solanke (2) and James Maddison gave Ange’s Spurs the win over Unai’s Claret and Blues by a 4-1 scoreline.

Morgan Rogers had scored in the 1st-half to give Villa a lead at the break.

Betfred offer Tottenham at 11/10, the Draw at 5/2 and 12/5 for Aston Villa to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 7/1 that Mohammed Kudos Scores First and 16/5 that Morgan Rogers Scores Anytime.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

LIVERPOOL v MANCHESTER UNITED

16.30 in England

Sky Sports

What a great game to watch on a Sunday Afternoon before Songs of Praise.

Liverpool drop to 2nd, still with 15 points, following back-to-back Premier League defeats.

Added to those losses against Crystal Palace and Chelsea respectively (by the same 2-1 scoreline) with both winning goals coming in injury time, Liverpool have also suffered a defeat against Galatasaray in Match Day-2 of the Champions League-League Phase.

Coady Gakpo did score against Chelsea to level the game but as mentioned, Liverpool conceded the late goal in the 95th minute to ultimately lose the fixture at Stamford Bridge.

On paper, this looks like an easy game against a poor Manchester United team, however, as everyone knows, Football isn’t played on paper and United will be up for a tough challenge.

Manchester United’s 7-game season up to now, shows-

1-Loss
2-Draw
3-Win
4-Loss
5-Win
6-Loss
7-Win

With the last 5, having a Win-Loss-Win-Loss-Win pattern which suggests this game against Liverpool will be a Loss.

Against Sunderland last time out, Ruben threw the New Goalkeeper Senne Lammens into the starting lineup with Senne not disappointing keeping a clean sheet and looking the most composed United GK since David De Gea, so he should keep his place today.

Goals from Mason Mount and Benjamin Sesko before the half-hour mark hard barely ticked over, gave United a lead at the interval.

What may have been a disappointment was that United couldn’t add to the scoresheet with the game finishing in a victory for Ruben Amorim’s Red Devils by a 2-0 scoreline.

Despite supposedly being under pressure, with this EveryTip column feeling that Ruben’s time at Old Trafford is coming to an end, it emerged this week that the part-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe wants Mr Amorim to stay for at least another 3 years.

When initially hearing that statement, there was some concern about the ‘3-year’ comment but if one listens to the interview from Sir Jim, it does appear that the question from the interviewer was loaded and sort of backed Jim into a corner where the answer came back simply throwing ‘3-years’ into a sentence which it’s quite likely that Mr Ratcliffe didn’t even believe.

The simple fact is, although Manchester United have won 3 out of 7, those 3 games were all at Old Trafford and against 2 of the 3 teams that were promoted last season.

Granted, there was a victory over Chelsea in the other but that result can be scrutinised with the way the game started following the early sending off of the Chelsea Goalkeeper after 5 minutes.

So the jury is definitely still out regarding the future of Ruben Amorim and the next 4 fixtures (Liverpool away, Brighton home, Nottingham Forest away and Tottenham away) before the final International Break of the year, could decide whether Ruben stays or is down the concrete.

Remember the clause that has been mentioned a few times in this column, United have to pay Ruben Amorim £12 Million if they sack him before the first year of his contract is up, which is November 11th, 2025.

United sit in 10th place with 10 points from the opening 7 games completed.

Both teams shared the points from a draw by a 2-2 score, when Liverpool hosted Manchester United at Anfield last season.

After a goalless 1st-half, Lisandro Martinez scored the opener just after the restart.

A goal from Coady Gakpo and a Mo Salah converted penalty gave Liverpool a lead before Amad Diallo scored an equaliser in the 80th minute to give both teams a point apiece.

Betfred offer Liverpool at slight Odds On 3/5, the Draw at 10/3 and 4/1 for Manchester United to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 7/2 that Alexander Isak Scores First and 21/20 that Liverpool Score in Both Halves.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

WEST HAM v BRENTFORD

20.00 in England

Sky Sports

A New Look set of Hammers, under the guidance of Nuno Espírito Santo suffered a first game defeat against Arsenal at the Emirates last time out.

To be fair to West Ham, that fixture was always going to be a tough game, whoever the Manager was.

The loss by a 2-0 scoreline leaves West Ham in 19th place with the same 4 points as Burnley.

Nuno has had 2 weeks with his players to try and turn the fortunes around.

Brentford suffered a narrow defeat against Man City at the GTech Stadium before the International Break.

A single City goal gave Pep’s High Flying Blues the victory over Keith’s Bees by a 1-0 scoreline.

That result just needs to be put to bed and for everyone at the GTech to move on to very winnable games against teams like West Ham.

Brentford sit in 16th place with 7 points from the opening 7 games completed.

Kevin Schade scored after 4 minutes when Brentford last visited the London Stadium to face West Ham.

Surprisingly, that was the end of the goals on the day with the Bees avoiding the Hammer to give Brentford the victory over West Ham by a 1-0 away day score.

Betfred offer West Ham at 7/5, the Draw at 12/5 and 15/8 for Brentford to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 5/1 that Jarrod Bowen Scores First and 21/10 that Kevin Schade Scores Anytime.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)
