Where the extra place helps most

JENSON BENSON in the 13:57 at Chelmsford has the biggest gap on our model of the extra place races: forecast at 11/2, against our tissue price of 3.13. Gina Mangan rides for Shaun Lycett, and Betfred pays 4 places in a 14-runner handicap.

TASKHEER (14:30 Chelmsford, forecast 15/2, tissue 5.23) is the bigger price, with Hector Crouch riding for Jamie and Josh Moore. EY UP HE’S A STAR (15:28 Southwell, forecast 7/1, tissue 4.04) is another each way option, with David Nolan riding for Tony Coyle and Kaine Wood.

A word on runners: the 12:42 at Newbury and the 15:45 at Clonmel have exactly 16 runners, the minimum for 5 places, so one non-runner means 4 places. The 15:28 at Southwell has exactly 12, the minimum for 4, so one non-runner takes it back to 3. Check before you bet.

Betfred has already named two extra place races for tomorrow at Aintree: the 13:50 (3 places) and the 15:35 (4 places).

Today’s money back race is the 16:30 at Southwell.
