Weekend Premier League Football Correct Score Betting Tips – 22nd & 23rd September 2018

Watford have made yet another good start to the campaign. Does John Newsome believe that the Hornets have what it takes to sting the Cottagers, on Saturday? Below you will find all of John’s premier league predictions this week.

John Newsome Football Betting Tips - everytipFULHAM v WATFORD
The first match of Game Week 6 of the Premier League live on Sky Sports. Whilst technically not a London Derby, there are only 23 miles separating these 2 clubs. Fulham, like most newly promoted clubs, find the difference between the Championship and the Premier League massive. They travelled to High Flying City last weekend and were one nil down after just 2 minutes. They ultimately lost that game 3-0 at the Etihad which is no disgrace as most teams will, they have to put that to bed and concentrate on this game against Watford. Aleksandar Mitrovic is in form and will relish the chance to continue his goalscoring in front of the Fulham faithful.
Watford lost their unbeaten run at home to Manchester United late on Saturday afternoon but played their part in an excellent game against the Pink Devils. Having been 2-0 down at half-time, they rallied in the 2nd half and Andre Gray pulled a goal back for the Hornets. However, United held on for the win and Watford suffered their first loss of the campaign.
Bet 365 have Fulham at 13/10, the Draw at 5/2 and Watford at 15/8 to get the Away Win. Bet 365 offer 7/4 that there are over 3.5 goals, which basically means 4 goals or more, which considering Fulham have scored 4 and conceded 4 up to now, there should be goals.
Away Win 1-3
BURNLEY v BOURNEMOUTH
Burnley were well beaten on Sunday against newly promoted Wolves. Despite the scoreline only being 1-0 to Wolves, the Burnley goal was constantly peppered and Joe Hart was in fine form to keep the score respectable. Burnley are still recovering from the Europa League experience and whilst being in a perilous situation at the moment, Sean Dyche will come good and steer Burnley away from the drop zone.
Bournemouth blitzed Leicester last Saturday and were 3-0 up after 41 minutes, with goals from a Josh King penalty after Ryan Fraser had got the first 2. Defender Adam Smith made it 4-0 after 81 minutes, but then the Cherries had a nervous final few minutes after the Foxes pulled 2 goals back late on. That win put Bournemouth up to 5th in the Premier League after their best start to a season for some time. Ryan Fraser has now scored 3 goals and the young Scot is starting to come good. Along with Josh King and Callum Wilson, the Cherries can continue their fine start.
This game last term was played on the final day of the 2017/2018 Premier League Season. Bournemouth eventually ran out 2-1 winners, with Callum Wilson getting a 93rd-minute winner. Josh King got an equaliser for Bournemouth after Chris Wood had given Burnley the lead in the 1st half.
Bet 365 have this pretty even with Burnley at 9/5, the Draw at 2/1 and Bournemouth at 13/10 to get the Away Win. Burnley v Bournemouth games have a lot of 2-1 results, Bet 365 offer 1/1 or Evens that there will be 3 goals or more. Technically it’s more than 2.5 goals but in the history of football, no team has ever scored 0.5 of a goal.
Away Win 0-2
CRYSTAL PALACE v NEWCASTLE
Crystal Palace got a hard-fought win up in West Yorkshire on Saturday beating a struggling Huddersfield side 1-0. Palace Superstar Wilfried Zaha got the all-important goal with a wonderful solo effort late in the 1st half. After the game, Wilfried had a bit of a moan about the way he is treated on the pitch. Whilst no one wants to see legs broken and horrendous tackles, it does come with the territory of being a superb player and Wilfried might bleat about it, but that will only fuel future opponents and maybe he might have been better to keep quiet and let his feet do the talking. Throughout history, the games best flair players have always been subjected to harsh challenges and whilst not right, is just the way Football is played. No defender is going to say “there you go young Wilfried, you go past me with ease and I will not attempt a challenge”. Unfortunately for Wilfried it comes with the territory and moaning about it might just get him a bit more unwanted attention.
Newcastle put up a decent fight against Arsenal at St James Park on Saturday but ultimately were beaten 2-1 and now find themselves with just 1 point from a possible 15 and joint bottom of the Premier League table. The significant factor in that game with Arsenal was Jonjo Shelvey wasn’t in the starting 11. There have been calls for Jonjo to be called up by Gareth to the England set-up as apparently he is the creative midfielder England lack and need. How can Jonjo expect to be called up for England if he is not a regular for his club side? Gareth doesn’t play players for England if they don’t play for their clubs. Wait, in the last England game, Mr Southgate started Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Fabian Delph and Danny Welbeck all who had n’t started this season for their clubs. So maybe there is hope for Jonjo Shelvey. To be fair to Delph he did start against Fulham after the England game. Newcastle got a late consolation against Arsenal through defender Ciaran Clark. This will be another tough game for the Toon Army.
This game last season was played in the cold of early February and finished with the points shared after a 1-1 Draw. Luka Milivojevic scored a 2nd half penalty for Palace after Newcastle’s Mohamed Diame had given the Magpies the lead in the 1st half.
Bet 365 have Crystal Palace as favourites at 19/20, with Newcastle at 14/5 and for the points to be shared, Bet 365 offer 12/5. Apart from a rare game in 2015 between these 2 which finished 5-1 to Palace, the Head to Head games usually don’t have many goals. Bet 365 offer 3/1 for a Draw and under 2.5, which basically means 0-0 or 1-1.
Home Win 2-1
LEICESTER v HUDDERSFIELD
Leicester were hammered down on the South Coast on Saturday taking a 4-2 beating from the Cherries. The scoreline of 4-2 was made a little more respectable after 2 very late consolation goals from a James Maddison penalty and a Marc Albrighton tap in. Big Leicester defender Wes Morgan had been sent off in the 2nd half for 2 Yellow cards, but in truth, this didn’t really change the outcome as the Foxes were already losing 3-0. Bournemouth are in-form at the moment so Leicester will put that game to bed and concentrate on this very winnable game against struggling Huddersfield at the King Power Stadium. Jamie Vardy started against the Cherries after his 3 game rest for his sending off earlier on in the season against Wolves and will want to quickly get back to scoring goals after he announced his International retirement. Whilst it’s always subjective about an individuals decision to retire from International Football it does become understandable when a player gets into his 30s, is travelling everywhere and is training with the squad, yet gets limited game time for his country. Jamie will feel he could have contributed more in Russia and who knows whether England could have progressed to the final if Jamie had more minutes. The retirement should benefit Leicester and his family though and for a guy who was rejected by his boyhood club at 16 and had to go and play non-League football, should be proud of representing his country and will definitely have the memories.
Huddersfield are struggling in this 2nd season in the Premier League and find themselves in the bottom 3 after another defeat at home to Crystal Palace. The problem appears to be in front of goal having only managed 2 goals this season up to now, the least of all the 20 teams in the Premier League. Ironically 1 of the 2 goals came against High Flying Man City. The Terriers faithful won’t turn on their team and will just relish the fact that they are still in the Premier League, however, this will be another tough away trip.
This game last season was played on New Years Day and the Foxes ran out easy 3-0 winners. Riyad Mahrez, Islam Slimani and a very late Marc Albrighton goal gave Leicester a great start to the year.
Leicester are odds-on favourites with bookmakers Bet 365 at 8/15, the Draw is 3/1 and Huddersfield are a massive 5/1 to get the Away Win. Huddersfield haven’t beaten Leicester for quite a long time. Bet 365 offer 5/4 for Leicester to Win to Nil and a massive 40/1 for Huddersfield to miss a penalty.
Home Win 3-0
LIVERPOOL v SOUTHAMPTON
Liverpool continued their winning start to this season’s Premier League with a comfortable 2-1 win in the early kick-off at Wembley on Saturday against Tottenham. 2-1 doesn’t sound comfortable and in truth, Liverpool were holding on in the end but should have put the game out of sight and missed a load of chances. Although they are unbeaten and have a perfect 5/5 record, the lack of goals this season has meant they drop down a place from 1st to 2nd on goal-difference to Chelsea. The Anfield faithful will hope the game against Tottenham isn’t going to be symptomatic to their season. They were well on top and should have put the game to bed in the 1st half. The usually reliable Mo Salah missed a great chance and Sadio Mane seemed to have put his feet on the wrong legs. At the back though, Virgil Van Dijk is outstanding and glides through games always appearing to be in the right place at the right time. The old-timers at Anfield will definitely liken Big Virgil to Alan Hansen.
Southampton or the Liverpool feeder club come into this game after a draw against Brighton on Monday Night Football. The annoying thing about that game is the Saints were 2-0 up through goals from Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and a Danny Ings penalty. Hojbjerg’s goal was a beauty. Unfortunately for the Saints faithful they couldn’t hold on and let Brighton back into the game to share the points. Mark Hughes wasn’t happy with the last minute penalty conceded. To be fair, he’s not going to be. Southampton did show improvement and the fans should be buoyed by the performance.
This game last season was played in mid-November and Liverpool ran out easy 3-0 winners against the Saints. Mo Salah got the 1st 2 in that game and Philippe Coutinho added the 3rd mid-way through the 2nd half.
Bet 365 understandably have Liverpool as clear odds-on favourites at 1/6 to get the Home Win. They offer Southampton up at a massive 12/1 to get the points at Anfield. The Draw is 11/2 which is way too big for a 3 horse race. Bet 365 offer 21/20 ( just over Evens ) for Liverpool to Win and under 3.5 goals. Bet 365 also offer a massive 40/1 for Southampton to miss a penalty.
Home Win 3-0
MANCHESTER UNITED v WOLVES
The Top 2 from last season’s Premier League take on the Top 2 from the Championship this weekend with both Manchester club’s playing at 3.00 PM on a Saturday afternoon which is a rarity in itself. Runners-up United take on Championship Champions Wolves at Old Trafford.
Manchester United got arguably the result of the weekend against Watford away at Vicarage Rd in the late Saturday afternoon kick-off. Romelu Lukaku scored the Pink Devils first goal off his belly and Chris Smalling scored a superb 2nd goal and ultimately the winner. Although the United faithful will have loved that from Big Chris, they might just question his hairstyle. Rio Ferdinand had stated that it would be a shock result if United beat Watford. Whilst Rio is technically right looking at the League position and the start both clubs have made this term, it shouldn’t be a shock that Manchester United have beaten Watford. Sir Alex Ferguson built up a legacy at Old Trafford and any manager following the legend should be extremely grateful of the job Sir Alex did. Jose Mourinho, although an icon himself, should not allow United to be seen as underdogs at Watford. The money and the prestige United hold should guarantee them at least the equal challenge against City, Liverpool, Tottenham and Chelsea.
The rest is down to game management. Nemanja Matic picked up a very late 2nd Yellow card in the 93rd minute and subsequently a Red so will miss this game against Premier League newcomers Wolves.
Wolves beat Burnley 1-0 on Sunday at Molineux and continue their fine start to their life in the Premier League. They go to Old Trafford just a point behind the Pink Devils. The surprise in that 1-0 win against Burnley was that Wolves only scored 1 goal. They hammered Burnley and it was only the fine form of ex-England goalkeeper Joe Hart and tremendous defending and blocking from the Claret and Blues defenders that kept the score to 1-0. Mexican star Raul Jimenez got the winner against Burnley which was great for Raul and the Mexican nation on Dia de la Independencia which is the Mexican Independence Day. Fellow countryman Saul Canelo Alvarez set the day up for all of Mexico with a superb boxing performance against Kazakhstan legend Gennady Gennadyevich Golovkin or Triple G as he’s affectionately known. Raul Jimenez has scored twice this term which is a great start to his Premier League debut. This will be a tremendous yardstick for Wolves and the Wolves faithful will enjoy their trip to Old Trafford.
Bet 365 have United odds-on at 8/15, the Draw at 3/1 and Wolves at 11/2 to get a famous win at Old Trafford. Bet 365 offer 9/4 for there to be 4 goals or more in the game which is real value and a massive 33/1 for Wolves to miss a penalty.
Home Win 3-1
CARDIFF v MAN CITY
Championship runners-up Cardiff take on Premier League Champions Man City at the Cardiff City Stadium. Neil Warnock up against Pep Guardiola! Cardiff were well beaten 4-1 last time out away at Chelsea. Probably the surprise in that result was that Cardiff actually took the lead early in the 1st half through a Sol Bamba goal. Unfortunately, that goal was like waking up a sleeping Lion and Chelsea took control of the game eventually winning 4-1. The Bluebirds will put that away trip to Stamford Bridge behind them and concentrate on this great game against current Premier League Champions Man City.
Although Cardiff are winless in their return to the Premier League, they are not in the bottom 3 and that is all the Cardiff faithful will hope for throughout a terribly tough season.
Man City continued their unbeaten start to the season with an easy 3-0 win against fellow newcomers Fulham last Saturday. Triple G got beaten in the boxing but Triple S came good at the Etihad with goals from Sane, Silva and Sterling. Leroy got the scoring going after only 2 minutes and the David of the Silva’s got the 2nd and his 50th Premier League City goal in his 350th game for the Blues. Raheem got the 3rd and rounded off an easy win for City in front of their faithful Citizens. After starting for England in midweek, Fabian Delph propelled himself into the City first team and started for his club for the first time this season. City currently lie 3rd in the table 2 points behind Chelsea and Liverpool and won’t be far off come the end of the season.
Bet 365 offer a massive 14/1 for Cardiff to beat City. Way too big for a home team and worth a pound. The Draw is 6/1 and City are long odds-on at 1/6 to get the Away Win. Bet 365 offer 17/10 for there to be less than 3 goals. Although City can turn on the style against anyone, Big Neil will have Cardiff well organised and shouldn’t get hammered. Bet 365 offer a massive 40/1 for Cardiff to miss a penalty.
Away Win 0-3
BRIGHTON v TOTTENHAM
Late Saturday afternoon kick-off live on BT Sports sees Tottenham travel down to the South Coast to take on Brighton.
Brighton were down and out on the Monday Night Football at St Mary’s against Southampton but came back from 2-0 down to earn a great draw. Shane Duffy got the first and then was involved in a tackle late on which the referee deemed a foul and awarded a penalty to Brighton to allow Glen Murray to score and gain a point for the seagulls. Glenn knows how to take a penalty. A great point for Brighton to take into this home game against Tottenham who played in the San Siro against Inter Milan on Tuesday night in the Champions League.
Tottenham were well beaten at Wembley against Liverpool in the early kick-off last Saturday. The scoreline of 2-1 hides the defensive frailties of Tottenham and Liverpool should have scored more. Mr Pochettino got his team selection completely wrong bringing in Harry Winks for his first game for a long time. Son Heung-Min was left on the bench and should have started in front of Harry. Danny Rose was constantly exposed down the left because of Harry’s inability to play in that position. Not Harry’s fault, it’s just not his game. He’s a central midfield playmaker who can only kick with his left foot. So is limited. Son has just won the Asian games with South Korea so has been playing competitive and Mauricio should have started him before Harry. Tottenham left Kieran Trippier and Toby Alderweireld at home for their trip to Inter due to a technical decision so these 2 should be fresh.
This game last season was played in mid-April and finished 1-1.
Harry Kane scored for Spurs just after the break, but Brighton immediately equalised through a Pascal Gross penalty and the points were shared.
Bet 365 offer 4/1 for a Brighton Home Win, the Draw is 3/1 and Tottenham are odds-on at 8/13 to head back up to London with all 3 points. Both of Brighton’s Premier League home games this season have seen goals and all 4 of Tottenham’s Premier League games have yielded at least 3 goals. Bet 365 offer 13/8 for there to be 3.5 goals or more.
Draw 1-1
WEST HAM v CHELSEA
Early Sunday afternoon football live on Sky Sports and what a cracker of a London Derby at the London Stadium.
West Ham are back, it’s took a while but the formation, although tweaked a bit, that’s the nature of the game, worked. They blitzed Everton on Sunday which was great in itself, but away at Goodison to do that to an inform Everton was simply superb. Austrian Marko Arnautovic should be applauded for his superb performance for 63 minutes. He was instrumental in their 1st goal at Goodison unselfishly passing the ball to Man of the Match Andriy Yarmolenko. Ukrainian Andriy scored a superb 2nd before Marko completed the scoring getting the Bubbles 3rd. Unfortunately for Marko Arnautovic he was injured in the process and had to come off but certainly did his bit in helping the Hammers get their much needed 1st Win of the season.
Chelsea came from behind to beat Cardiff on Saturday 4-1 and due to them scoring more goals then Liverpool are now top of the Premier League. The mercurial Eden Hazard got a superb hat-trick after his midweek International appearances for Belgium. Chelsea did extremely well to hang on to Hazard in the summer and if he stays fit Chelsea will not be far off this term. The unfortunate thing for Chelsea is they are in the Europa League this time and will play a lot of Thursday/Sunday games which as often been the downfall of British Clubs. Chelsea have yet to play anyone of note yet. Tottenham have played Liverpool and Manchester United, Liverpool have played Tottenham, Chelsea have played Huddersfield, Arsenal, Newcastle, Bournemouth and Cardiff. Huddersfield, Newcastle and Cardiff are bottom four at the minute. If they beat West Ham fair play but let’s judge Sarri and Chelsea after they have played Liverpool, Tottenham and Manchester United.
This game last term was played in early December and West Ham got a very deserved 1-0 win. Marko Arnautovic got the solitary goal.
Bet 365 offer 6/1 for a famous Hammers win at the London Stadium, the Draw is 3/1 and Chelsea are odds-on at 1/2 to be the Top London dogs. Bet 365 offer Chelsea at 10/3 to win the game either 1-0 or 2-0.
Draw 2-2
ARSENAL v EVERTON
This is the final Premier League game of the weekend live on Sky Sports.
Arsenal beat Newcastle 2-1 on Saturday away at St James Park and are now on a 3 game winning streak. Granit Xhaka and the much-maligned Mezut Ozil got the goals for the Gunners and they will go into this game against Everton full of confidence. Mezut Ozil seems to get a lot of stick from everyone yet what does everyone expect. He’s a World Cup winner and has played for Real Madrid and does what Mezut does. He is not Patrick Vierra and wasn’t bought by Arsenal to do the same things Patrick did. He’s a terrific flair player who creates and scores superb goals and maybe he needs the players around.
Everton came back down to earth at Goodison Park last time out after a 4 game unbeaten run. The Toffees lost 3-1 to West Ham and were truly outplayed by an impressive Hammers performance which probably caught Everton by surprise as there was no evidence to show that West Ham were going to play that way. Gylfi Sigurdsson got a goal back just prior to halftime which did give the Toffees faithful hope for the 2nd half but that didn’t materialise and West Ham scored a 3rd to put the game beyond doubt. Everton will bounce back but this will be a tough test against an inform Gooners side. The hope Everton can cling on to is that Arsenal will have played in the Europa League against Ukrainian side Vorskla on the Thursday night so this could have a bearing on the game.
This game last season was played in the cold of early February and Arsenal smashed the Toffees 5-1. Laurent Koscielny, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and a superb hat-trick from Aaron Ramsey gave the Gunners faithful a thrilling day out. Dominic Calvert-Lewin got Everton’s consolation.
Bet 365 have Arsenal surprisingly odds-on at 4/9 to get all 3 points. The Draw is 7/2 ( just over 3/1 ) and Everton are 11/2 ( just over 5/1 ) to get an Away Win. On current form, a bet on the Draw may be a good way for the Toffees to pay for their trip to the Emirates on a late Sunday afternoon. However, Arsenal should be too strong.
Home Win 3-1
