NOTTINGHAM FOREST v FULHAM

19.30 in England

Chris Wood scored an equaliser on the hour mark for Nottingham Forest after Crystal Palace’s Jean-Philippe Mateta had scored the opener before the break.

With no further goals, both shared the points from a draw by a 1-1 score, as predicted in this EveryTip column last week.

Added to the correct score prediction, it was offered up that Chris Wood and Jean-Philippe Mateta would score a goal anytime.

It’s hoped a few out there made a few quid on those predictions.

The point gained lifts Nottingham Forest up a place to 17th and out of the relegation zone, swapping places with Luton, both having 22 points from 30 games played but with the Tricky Trees having a slightly superior goal difference.

Nottingham Forest- scored 36 and conceded 52 (minus-16)

Luton- scored 43 and conceded 62 (minus-19)

Fulham themselves, gained a point from a draw by a 3-3 score against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane on Saturday.

Probably the scoreline doesn’t tell the full story as the Blades scored a goal that would have put them ahead by 4 goals to 1, however, the dreaded VAR somehow deemed that the goal should be cancelled out.

After a goalless 1st-half, the fun started when Sheffield United scored the opener on the hour mark.

Joao Palhinha equalised within a couple of minutes and it was thought that Fulham, who at the time, were the better of the two, would push on for the victory.

Not so, the home team scored 2 more, then in the 82nd minute, scored a 4th which to the naked eye, looked legitimate, however, the Stockley Park brigade didn’t agree and stated that someone was offside so it was still 3-1 in favour of Sheffield United.

Fulham then staged a brilliant comeback with Bobby Decordover-Reid, who had only just come onto the pitch, scoring a superb goal to reduce the deficit.

Rodrigo Muniz then scored a brilliant equaliser and despite the added time being shown as 14 minutes (14), there were no further goals with both teams gaining a point apiece.

That was Rodrigo’s 8th goal of the season all coming in the last 8 games.

The referee actually played an extra 2 minutes on top of the 14, so a total of 16 minutes were added to the 2nd-half, plus 47 minutes from the 1st-half.

The lads definitely deserved an Easter Egg over the weekend.

The point gained, because as everyone knows, it’s always a point gained, leaves Fulham in 12th place with 39 points from the full 30 games completed.

This fixture was a 5-goal Thriller back at Craven Cottage in December, however, the horror show was from the Forest Defenders who conceded all 5 goals.

Alex Iwobi and Raul Jimenez scored 2 goals apiece with Tom Cairney adding a 5th late on to give Fulham the victory by a 5-0 scoreline.

Betfred offer Nottingham Forest at 6/4, the draw at 12/5 and 9/5 for Fulham to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 6/4 that Chris Wood Scores Anytime and 11/4 that Fulham Score in Both Halves.

NEWCASTLE v EVERTON

19.30 in England

Newcastle played in a great game against West Ham at St James Park on Saturday.

Within a couple of minutes of the kick-off, Anthony Gordon was fouled in the area and after the on-field referee Rob Jones pointed to the spot, it took the dreaded VAR 4 minutes to confirm the penalty.

Alexander Isak then coolly slotted home to give the home team an early lead.

It was then West Ham who took control scoring twice before the break, the 2nd coming 10 minutes into added-on time, which 4 were due to the Stockley Park crew debating whether to give the initial penalty after Rob Jones had pointed to the spot straight away.

The Hammers then added a 3rd soon after the restart and were in complete control, especially with a few of the Newcastle players picking up injuries.

Miguel Almiron came on as a substitute in the 56th minute, caused a few problems, then was injured and replaced by Harvey Barnes 10 minutes later.

Harvey completely changed the context of the game with Newcastle being awarded a 2nd penalty that this time wasn’t given immediately by Rob Jones but eventually after being asked to check the monitor by the dreaded VAR.

Alexander Isak once again converted then that man Harvey scored 2 brilliant goals to give Newcastle the victory by a remarkable 4-3 score when trailing by 3 goals to 1.

As Chris ‘Kammy’ Kamara would say,

Unbelievable Jeff.

Anthony Gordon had a brilliant game too, winning both penalties but after being shown a Yellow Card for dragging back a West Ham player, the lad then received a 2nd Yellow and the subsequent Red for kicking the ball away.

Whilst AG had played well and the Red was in the 94th minute, there were still around 5 minutes remaining which the sending-off could have proved costly, however, luckily for Anthony, 10-man Newcastle held on for the vital win.

The victory lifts Newcastle to 8th in the table with 43 points from 29 games played.

Now just a point adrift of West Ham who have played a game more.

The problem that Eddie Howe has, is there are only a limited number of players to call upon for this midweek game against Everton.

The unfortunate Seamus Coleman deflected the ball into his own net in the 91st minute to gift Bournemouth the victory over Everton on Saturday.

After a goalless 1st-half at the Vitality, it was the home team that scored the opener before Beto took advantage of a spill from Neto and equalised in the 87th minute.

When it looked like both would share the points, the unfortunate Toffee Coleman chested the ball into his own goal.

If that was a horse race, there would definitely have been a stewards inquiry as Seamus didn’t need to do anything other than let the ball go past him.

The defeat leaves Everton in 16th place with 25 points from 29 games played, now just 3 points ahead of the drop zone, with 9 fixtures remaining.

Surprisingly, it was Everton who gained the victory over Newcastle in the Game Week-15 affair at Goodison Park.

After a goalless 1st-half, Dwight McNeil, Abdoulaye Doucoure and Beto all scored to give the Toffees the home win by a 3-0 scoreline.

That result is more than likely to be reversed tonight and probably by the same score.

Betfred offer Newcastle at Evens 1/1, the draw at 11/4 and 5/2 for Everton to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 23/20 that Alexander Isak Scores Anytime and 3/1 that Newcastle Win To Nil.

BOURNEMOUTH v CRYSTAL PALACE

19.45 in England

Bournemouth gained all 3 points on Saturday, inflicting a defeat on Everton by a 2-1 scoreline.

After a goalless 1st-half at the Vitality, Dominic Solanke headed home a superb cross from Lloyd Kelly to give the Cherries a lead.

That was Dominic’s 16th goal of the season and puts the lad 4th on the goal-scoring chart behind Erling Haaland (18), Ollie Watkins (16) and Mo Salah (16).

The reason Dom’s at 4 is because when a player has the same amount of goals as another, it’s then based on Assists.

Ollie has 10, Mo has 9 and Dominic has 3.

It’s probably too late now to force his way into the England Squad for the Euros but all Dominic can do is keep putting the ball in the net for Bournemouth and keep his name in the headlines.

The Cherries Goalkeeper Neto dropped the ball from a harmless cross that allowed the Toffees Beto to tap home an equaliser and when it looked like both would share the points, Bournemouth were gifted the winner when Seamus Coleman bundled the ball into his own net.

The victory leaves Bournemouth in 13th place with 38 points from 29 fixtures completed.

It’s now fair to say that Bournemouth will be in the Premier League next season and won’t get embroiled in a relegation battle.

Crystal Palace earned a point from a draw by a 1-1 score, against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on Saturday, as predicted in this EveryTip column.

Jean-Philippe Mateta scored the Palace goal in the 11th minute, however, the Eagles couldn’t capitalise on the goal and allowed Forest to equalise midway through the 2nd-half.

Crystal Palace stay in 14th place with 30 points from 29 games completed and whilst not yet mathematically safe, like Bournemouth, should be in the Premier League next season.

Bournemouth gained the away night victory over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park in December.

Marcos Senesi and Kieffer Moore scored the goals to give Bournemouth all 3 points from a 2-0 scoreline.

Betfred offer Bournemouth at slight Odds On 9/10, the draw at 13/5 and 3/1 for Crystal Palace to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 100/30 that Dominic Solanke Scores First and 12/5 that Bournemouth Win To Nil.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

BURNLEY v WOLVES

19.45 in England

Burnley were brilliant against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, gaining a point from a draw by a 2-2 score, even after having Lorenz Assignon sent off on 40 minutes for 2 bookable offences.

Chelsea scored the opener soon after the sending off and it looked a certainty that the home team would score loads against the 10-man Clarets after the break.

However, Josh Cullen scored a brilliant equaliser just after the restart and then Dara O’Shea again equalised a 2nd Chelsea goal late on to give both teams a share of the points.

Vincent Kompany was also shown a Red Card for a few choice words aimed at anyone who was listening and will be in the Turf Moor stand for this midweek fixture.

Burnley stay in 19th place with 18 points from 30 games played.

That is 4 points away from safety so it is still a possibility to avoid relegation, however, it will be a tough ask.

Wolves suffered an away day defeat against the Midland rivals Aston Villa on Saturday with Unai Emery’s Claret and Blues getting the victory over Gary O’Neils Gold and Blacks by a 2-0 scoreline.

Enough said, as Wolves, now sitting in 10th place with 41 points from 29 played, won’t be relegated, however, won’t be troubling the European places so it may be a case of one foot in the flip flops for the players over the next 9 games.

A single Hwang-Hee Chan goal on the stroke of half-time was enough to give Wolves the victory over Burnley at Molineux by a 1-0 score.

Betfred offer Burnley at 9/5, the draw at 12/5 and 6/4 for Wolves to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 5/2 that Wilson Odobert Scores Anytime and 7/4 that Matheus Cunha Scores Anytime.

WEST HAM v TOTTENHAM

20.15 in England

The phrase often used in this EveryTip column ‘snatched a defeat from the jaws of victory!’ was never so appropriate following West Ham’s trip to face Newcastle at St James Park early on Saturday Afternoon.

After conceding an early penalty, converted by the home team, goals from Michail Antonio and Mohammed Kudus gave the Hammers a lead at the break.

Jarrod Bowen then added a 3rd just after the restart and West Ham were in complete control especially with Newcastle suffering a couple of injuries.

David Moyes decided to send on Kalvin Phillips in the 69th-minute, comfortably leading by 3 goals to 1.

Not to dig out Kalvin too much as the Leeds lad has had a bad few months but it must feel like KP has walked under several ladders at the moment.

Remember, Kalvin came on in the 69th-minute with just over 20 remaining and his team were leading 3-1.

Within 5 minutes of entering the field of play, Kalvin is adjudged to have fouled Anthony Gordon and a penalty is awarded to Newcastle, which is converted, 2-3.

Newcastle then scored 2 more and inflicted the defeat on West Ham by a 4-3 scoreline, with 3 of the Magpies’ goals coming whilst Kalvin Phillips was on the pitch.

Magpies are considered unlucky in some quarters.

They certainly were for David Moyes, Kalvin Phillips and the rest of the Bubbles.

One for sorrow!

West Ham sit in 7th place with 44 points, 1 more than Newcastle but have completed the full 30 games on offer, whereas Newcastle have only played 29 times.

Tottenham came from a goal down against Luton on Saturday to gain a home victory by a 2-1 scoreline.

After conceding an early Hatters goal in the David Pleat Derby, Son Heung-Min scored the winner in the 86th minute following an equaliser credited to the Luton Defender Issa Kabore.

Tottenham remain in 5th place in the table with 56 points from 29 fixtures completed.

Three points adrift of Aston Villa who have played a game more.

The goal difference between the two teams is virtually identical,

Aston Villa- scored 62 and conceded 42 (plus+20)

Tottenham- scored 61 and conceded 43 (plus+18)

So if Tottenham gain a victory in their game in hand, they will match Aston Villa.

The game in hand, however, is against the London rivals Chelsea.

There are also home fixtures against Arsenal and Man City to fit in plus a trip to Anfield to face Liverpool, so Ange Postecoglou’s Men will have a say in the eventual destination of the Premier League Title.

Probably more importantly for everyone connected with Tottenham, Ange’s LilyWhites are now 8 points ahead of Manchester United who sit in 6th place with 48 points.

Cristian Romero scored the opener at the Chas and Dave Memorial Stadium to give Tottenham a lead at the break.

Unfortunately for the LilyWhites in attendance, 2nd-half goals from Jarrod Bowen and James Ward-Prowse gave West Ham the London victory by a 2-1 away night score.

Betfred offer West Ham at 21/10, the draw at 3/1 and 11/10 for Tottenham to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 13/8 that Jarrod Bowen Scores Anytime and 23/20 that Son Heung-Min Scores Anytime.

ARSENAL v LUTON

19.30 in England

Pep 2 and Pep 1 just cancelled each other out on Sunday, with the game between Man City and Arsenal at the Etihad, finishing in a draw by a 0-0 score, or as some might say a goalless draw.

After 15 minutes, John Newsome sent out the following text to his mates (well mate-singular!)

‘Got Nil Nil written all over this!’

Whilst hoping to be wrong, the prediction was borne out with Arsenal not wanting to lose but not bothered about winning, even time wasting after half an hour.

With Liverpool getting the victory a couple of hours earlier, Arsenal now sit in 2nd place with 65 points from the same 29 games that all the Top Three have completed.

If one goes through the remaining 9 fixtures for each club, it offers up an idea of who will be the 2023/24 Premier League Champions.

Here goes,

Liverpool-

Home- Sheffield United-Win 3 points.
Away- Manchester United-Draw 1 point
Home- Crystal Palace-Win 3 points
Away- Fulham-Draw-1 point

Away- Brighton-Win 3 points
Away- Tottenham-Draw 1 point
Away- Nottingham Forest-Win 3 points
Home- Wolves-Win-3 points
Away- Fulham-Win 3 points
Home- West Ham-Win 3 points

Total points after 38 games-89

Advantage Man City.

Obviously, that’s not an exact science but it does give one an idea of what will happen, plus everyone can make up their own conclusions and decide what points each team will achieve from the remaining games to play.

All 3 teams still have fixtures in Europe that could have a bearing on the outcome of the Premier League Title.

Luton suffered another defeat on Saturday, this time against Tottenham at the Chas and Dave Memorial Stadium.

As with most games involving the Hatters, Luton always put in a good shift and rarely get beaten by 4 or 5, most of the defeats are by the odd goal, as was the way on Saturday.

Tahith Chong scored first to give Luton a lead at the interval, however, the unfortunate Issa Kabore was credited with an own goal before Tottenham scored the winner in the 86th minute, to knock the hats off the Hatters faithful in attendance, one coming all the way from Australia to see his beloved idols lose.

G’day!

Luton swapped places with Nottingham Forest and sit in the final relegation place with the same 22 points as Forest but with an inferior goal difference.

Nottingham Forest- scored 36 and conceded 52 (minus-16)

Luton- scored 43 and conceded 62 (minus-19)

This reverse fixture at Kenilworth Rd produced 7 goals with Arsenal scoring very late on to gain the victory over Luton by a 4-3 away night score.

The goals going in as follows,

20′ Gabriel Martinelli- Arsenal (0-1)
25′ Gabriel Osho- Luton (1-1)
45′ Gabriel Jesus- Arsenal (1-2)

Half-time Scotch Egg and Piccalilli.

49′ Elijah Adebayo- Luton (2-2)
57′ Ross Barkley- Luton (3-2)
60′ Kai Havertz- Arsenal (3-3)
90+7′ Declan Rice- Arsenal (3-4)

Full-time Baileys and Cherryade.

Betfred offer Arsenal at Odds On 1/10, the draw at 9/1 and 20/1 for Luton to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 4/1 that Bukayo Saka Scores First and slight Odds On 4/5 that Arsenal Win Both Halves.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

BRENTFORD v BRIGHTON

19.30 in England

Brentford gained a point from a draw by a 1-1 score, against Manchester United in the Saturday Night Football.

In a very drab game that was hard to watch, United scored in the 96th minute which appeared to be the winner.

Not so, the Big Danish Defender Kristoffer Ajer was in the right place at the right time to score the equaliser 3 minutes later to at least give the watching Hundreds (most had switched over) a bit of excitement.

It was a tough game to watch but in truth, after the previous few games involving Brentford, Thomas Frank’s Bees did perform better and deserved at least a point.

Brentford sit in 15th place with 27 points from the full complement of 30 games on offer.

Brighton suffered a defeat against Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.

Despite Danny Welbeck scoring after 2 minutes to give the travelling Seagulls an early lead, Liverpool scored twice to gain the victory by a 2-1 scoreline.

Brighton dropped to 9th place with 42 points from 29 games played.

Brighton gained the home victory over Brentford at the Amex back in December.

Bryan Mbeumo scored first for the Bees before Pascal Gross equalised for the Seagulls to take both teams in level at the break.

Jack Hinshelwood added a 2nd for the home team just after the interval and with no further goals, Brighton held on for the win from a 2-1 score.

Betfred offer Brentford at 6/4, the draw at 11/4 and 8/5 for Brighton to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 4/1 that Ivan Toney Scores First and 2/1 that Evan Ferguson Scores Anytime.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

MAN CITY v ASTON VILLA

20.15 in England

As not to complicate matters, this is just copied from the Arsenal v Luton Preview above.

Pep 1 and Pep 2 cancelled each other out on Sunday, with the game between Man City and Arsenal at the Etihad, finishing in a draw by a 0-0 score, or as the Oasis boys would say a goalless draw.

Man City were missing Kyle Walker and John Stones who both picked up injuries whilst on duty for England over the International Break.

Surprisingly, John was named as a substitute, however, wasn’t risked by Pep Guardiola with so many tough fixtures coming up.

With Liverpool getting the victory a couple of hours earlier, it means that Man City remain in 3rd place with 64 points from the same 29 games that all the Top Three have completed.

If one goes through the remaining 9 fixtures for each club, it offers up an idea of who will be the 2023/24 Premier League Champions.

Here goes,

Liverpool-

Home- Sheffield United-Win 3 points.
Away- Manchester United-Draw 1 point

All 3 teams still have fixtures in Europe that could have a bearing on the outcome of the Premier League Title.

Aston Villa were the Midlands Winners over the weekend inflicting a defeat on Wolves by a 2-0 scoreline.

Moussa Diaby and Ezri Konsa with the goals.

Ezri played the majority of the minutes for England against Brazil and Belgium over the International Break so was full of confidence coming into the fixture against Wolves, topping off a brilliant week with a goal.

Villa remain in 4th place with 59 points from 30 games, 3 ahead of Tottenham but have played a game more.

The goal difference between the two is pretty similar.

Aston Villa- scored 62 and conceded 42 (plus+20)

Tottenham- scored 61 and conceded 43 (plus+18)

Aston Villa gained a victory over Man City at Villa Park.

Leon Bailey with the solitary winning goal in the 2nd-half to give Villa all 3-points from a 1-0 scoreline.

Betfred offer Man City at Odds On 1/4, the draw at 11/2 and 9/1 for Aston Villa to come away with all 3-points.

Thursday 04th

LIVERPOOL v SHEFFIELD UNITED

19.30 in England

Liverpool were the real winners over the weekend, not only gaining a victory over Brighton but then watching Man City and Arsenal cancel each other out and draw the game between the chasing two.

After conceding a Seagull goal, Luis Diaz and Mo Salah scored to give Liverpool the points from a 2-1 scoreline.

That put Jurgen’s Reds at the summit of the Premier League with 67 points, at least until the fixture between Man City and Arsenal had finished.

As it turned out, as mentioned, those two cancelled each other out so Liverpool found themselves sitting at the Top of the Premier League with 67 points, following the initial 29 games that the Top Three have completed.

As with the Arsenal and Man City previews, it’s worth adding what this EveryTip column’s predictions are for the remainder of the season, with 9 games to go.

Liverpool-

Home- Sheffield United-Win 3 points.
Away- Manchester United-Draw 1 point
Home- Crystal Palace-Win 3 points

Obviously, that’s not an exact science but it does give one an idea of what will happen, plus everyone can make up their own conclusions and decide what points each team will achieve from the remaining games to play.

All 3 teams still have fixtures in Europe that could have a bearing on the outcome of the Premier League Title.

It does appear that Liverpool’s target for the New Manager, Xavi Alonso has decided to stay at Bayer Leverkusen and will not be on Merseyside next season.

There was speculation that the ex-Liverpool Midfielder would either go to Bayern Munich to replace Thomas Tuchel or head to Anfield to replace Jurgen Klopp.

It’s now understood that Xavi is staying at the BayArena.

Bayer Leverkusen look set to win the Bundesliga, currently 13 points ahead of the nearest rival at the summit, them being Bayern Munich and are still in the Europa League.

The question now is, who will Liverpool go for?

As mentioned a couple of weeks ago, don’t rule out the possibility of Jurgen Klopp staying at Anfield.

Sheffield United somehow came away with a point, instead of all 3, from the game against Fulham at Bramall Lane on Saturday.

‘Somehow’ because 2 goals from Ben Brereton-Diaz either side of an Ollie McBurnie strike gave the Blades a commanding lead with 20 minutes remaining.

Fulham did score to equalise Ben’s opener.

Ollie McBurnie then scored in the 82nd minute that would have given the Blades a 4-1 advantage, however, the dreaded VAR cancelled out the goal, which didn’t go down well with the Blunts in attendance.

Most would then say,

‘No bother, our team is still 3-1 in front with little time remaining!’

Unfortunately for those Blunts in attendance, which included James from Swinton, nowhere near Bramall Lane, Fulham took advantage of the nervousness of the home team and scored twice to gain a point from a draw by a 3-3 score.

As the ex-Blade Chris ‘Kammy’ Kamara would say,

Unbelievable Jeff.

There were songs from the Blunts about the Premier League being corrupt, which is the go-to tune after the John Denver Ditty about a ‘Greasy Chip Butty’.

Little Jim went off with the Youth to the local pub and drowned his sorrows on Fruit Kopparberg until it was time to go home and explain to the lovely Jade how corrupt the Premier League are,

‘Honest love, we should have been 4-1 up, that Premier League is corrupt as!’

A Packet of Woodbines!

Sheffield United remain at the foot of the Premier League Table with 15 points from 29 games played, 7 points adrift of safety.

Little Jimbo has got the Abacus out, in preparation for the Liverpool goals going in tonight and loosened the vocal cords, ready for the ‘Premier League are Corrupt’ tune as Liverpool score their 4th.

A Liverpool goal scored in each half by Virgil Van Dijk and Dominik Szoboszlai gave Jurgen’s Reds the away night victory over Chrissy’s Blades at Bramall Lane by a 2-0 scoreline.

Betfred offer Liverpool at Odds On 1/12, the draw at 10/1 and 22/1 for Sheffield United to come away with all 3-points.

Betfred offer 7/2 that Darwin Nunez Scores First and slight Odds On 5/6 that Liverpool Win To Nil.

(If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores First and then scores a Second, Betfred DOUBLE the odds.

If they score a Third, Betfred TREBLE the odds.)

CHELSEA v MANCHESTER UNITED

20.15 in England

Chelsea gained a point from a draw by a 2-2 score against Burnley at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

What will have irked the Blues faithful was Cole Palmer scored 2 to twice give Chelsea
a lead against 10 men Burnley but the Clarets equalised both of Cole’s goals.

The point gained gives Mauricio Pochettino’s Blues 40 and leaves Chelsea in 11th place, however, Mauricio’s boys have only completed 28 games.

John Newsome would like to offer up an apology to the Single folk out there and the few Married ones, including the Manchester Stick and Ball Thrower and the Little Fat Lad from Penistone, who were allowed to endure the Saturday Night Football between Brentford and Manchester United.

Rumours circulated, regarding the game, that B and Q were annoyed their shops in the Red Devil heartland of London had shut before the game started, as information came through that a lot of folk had ventured down to the popular DIY Store in the hope of purchasing paint, to adorn their walls and watch said paint dry, knowing that it was a better watch than the game between Brentford and United.

After 95 very drab minutes, Mason Mount (remember him?) scored what should have been the winner for United, however, like waiting a long time for London Buses, 2 came along at once, the 2 being goals with Brentford scoring an equaliser straight away to give both teams a share of the points from a draw by a 1-1 score.

That leaves United in 6th place with 48 points from 29 played, now 8 points adrift of Tottenham in 5th.

There is still time to make the Top Four and gain a Champions League spot, which could even go to the 5th place team, however, can anyone say that Manchester United are the form team out of the three of Aston Villa, Tottenham and themselves?

Manchester United gained the home victory against Chelsea at Old Trafford back in December.

Bruno Fernandes had the opportunity to give United an early lead when awarded a penalty, however, Bruno had his spot-kick saved by the Chelsea stopper Robert Sanchez.

A quick note regarding that, when a team, whoever it may be, are denied an obvious penalty from the on-field referee or the dreaded VAR, most assume that the denial of a penalty equals the denial of a goal.

Not so, as borne out by the Arm Thrower Mr Fernandes, a penalty does not equate to a goal.

Granted, most penalties are converted but it’s worth bearing in mind that when standing on the terrace, with Pie in hand and one’s team has been denied a blatant penalty, it doesn’t mean said penalty would have been scored.

The ex-United player Dan James will vouch for that after missing the crucial final spot-kick for Wales against Poland in the recent Euro Qualification Final which means the Welsh will be sat in front of the Telly watching the Euro’24 from Germany on S4C.

Yaki dah!

Scott McTominay, who will be in Germany this year, playing for Scotland and losing against the Hosts, Switzerland and Hungary before coming home quicker than the postcards, opened the scoring for United after Bruno’s penalty was saved.

The ex-Man City player Cole Palmer scored the equaliser for the Blues to take both teams in level at the break.

Scott then scored a 2nd in the 69th minute and with no further goals, United held on for the victory by a 2-1 scoreline.

Betfred offer Chelsea at Evens 1/1, the draw at 3/1 and 23/10 for Manchester United to come away with all 3-points.

The Top of the Scottish Premier League is getting more and more exciting (not) following the Easter Weekend results.

Rangers gained a victory over Hibernian (who?) on Saturday to temporarily jump above Celtic to the summit of the Pub League.

Celtic regained the Top Spot on Sunday following their victory against Livingston (who?) Doctor one presumes.

The excitement will go up a notch or two next weekend when the Old Firm Derby between Rangers and Celtic takes place at Ibrox on Sunday.

Rangers have played a game less than Celtic, with the rearranged fixture against Dundee taking place on the 10th of April, so the landscape of the Pub League will be a lot clearer in a fortnight.

The loveable OzScot will be up late over in Melbourne for the game between Rangers and Celtic that kicks off at Noon in Scotland, however, god knows what time that is Down Under, might even be Pancake Day.

Braveheart/Kylie and lad will be dressed in the Mel Gibson war paint with a can of IRN BRU in hand hoping their beloved Teddy Bears get the victory over the Green and White Hoops.
